I'm hooked on Anthology. Each issue is a true work of art and explores a specific theme. In a time that most magazines are going digital, these two San Francisco friends decided to follow their passions and start this beautiful print magazine in the fall of 2010. Their following is growing fast.

After reading this inspiring issue, Going Global, in my favorite dream spot, I've promised myself that this summer I will finally travel to my dream destinations, Denmark & Sweden. Subscribe for your dose of inspiration.

How's 2012 been treating you so far? I'm feeling good about the way things are going. If your year isn't quite right, restart it on January 23rd, Chinese New Year! We're coming up on Year of the Dragon, and that's sure to be a fun adventure.

There's seems to be an ebb and flow to each month of the year at this point in my life. January is one of my favorite months. I love being home after months of traveling and shows and events and business. This is a month of clear skies, being at home, and making new dreams and starts.

One of the starts is refreshing my studio in the historic Fairchild Building on Main Street in Placerville. I share the studio with friend and talented watercolor painter, Tracy Lewis. She agreed with my proposal to paint and so G and I took on the task and created a new palette for the new year. I love it! (My friend Jay said the 2012 photo could be a "Where's Waldo" photo, since you have to look to find Osa in the pic.!

G is in Mexico now, paragliding for two weeks in Valle de Bravo, "Valley of the Brave". Boy, does that man inspire me! I've picked my theme for the new year, and it is "Courage and Fearlessness". Well, there's going to be fear, but that just means it's a challenge. I want to push myself to face new positive challenges, to grow, learn, and experience new things. 2011 flew on by in a blink... I'm finding myself dreaming & planning 2012 and almost forgetting to look back. Photos are my best memory, so I'm reminding myself what a gift this year was by choosing my memorable moments of 2011 month by month. I was inspired by Tabitha's Emma's post. Hopefully you'll be inspired to compile photos of your 2011 too!

One of my favorite events in our little town is when the Garden Shartse Tibetan Monks visit for the ceremony, Affirming Our Commitment to the Peaceful Coexistence of All People and All Religions.

We welcomed the Year of the Rabbit for Chinese New Year with an annual Lotus Girls' dinner party at our house to celebrate.

Airstream Bambi TV Shoot

I'm so proud of my newest silver baby, '64 Airstream Bambi II, Betty Jane. It's hard to believe the transformation she's gone through since she joined our family in May.
Betty Jane just wrapped up a commercial shoot for TV here in SoCal. Three different locations in two days, all of them spectacular. Osa and I joined her for the ride; we've had a fabulous time! Life is good.

5 of My Favorite Things About Open Studios

There are so many things I love about participating in Open Studios with my Airstream studio, but here are five of them:

1. People

It’s such a treat to meet new friends and catch up with old friends, many of whom I’ve met at this event years ago. This is Christine and her sister. They have become like sisters to me and always make me smile to hear the sister banter in my Airstream. One of my new friends this year is Ed. He came to our Friday reception with the coolest flexible wine glass. I told him how great it would be for Airstream travel, and the next day he showed up with two of them and handmade cupcakes! Thank you, Ed, you made my weekend.

2. Tips and resources

There is so much great information swirling around. I often hear, “Have you heard about…?” Have you been to?” Sometimes I have, and many times I haven’t. Now I keep a list of tips going from people who share their insights.

3. Major mojo boost

Wow. What can I say? I love to hear the oooohs and ahhhhs from people who come into my trailer. Who doesn't love a compliment?! I get such validation to hear the positive comments on my display, jewelry, Airstream , photographs, cards, even my wig. I’m floating on cloud nine at the end of the weekend! It gives my the motivation to continue on my path and push myself further. It reminds me how important it is to pay a compliment.

4. Collaborative design

Another thing I hear is, “You know what I’d love? If you took this ring and made it into a necklace.” Or, “this style bracelet you made, as a necklace would be really cool. Can you make cufflinks in this same style? It gets me to thing outside of my design box, yet in my same aesthetic.

5. Fuzzy friends

A lot of times I leave Osa Pony girl at home with a sitter because she’ll be happier there & I’ll be able to focus on being here. That’s why I’m dog friendly in the Airstream and like to photograph all of the visiting fuzzy friends. This is a photo of Bear, a customer’s dog. What a good girl.

Southern California Vacation

Endless inspiration; that is what my trip to Santa Monica and LA was. It was nice to step away from it all and soak in the girl time with childhood friends. Art, trailers, Tim Burton, live music, flea markets, photo booths, beach time, vintage cars, pubs, yummy food, vintage arcades, and lots of laughing- these are some of my most favorite things. Thanks for the amazing time, Kat, Tanya, Jay, & Alison!

Airstream Life Magazine feature

I'm happy to be included in Airstream Life Magazine's latest issue. This is one of my favorite trailer mags. The editor, Rich Luhr, and his partner, Brett Greiveldinger, put on one of my favorite events of the year, Alumapalooza at the Airstream headquarters in Ohio each June. This magazine issue they featured the "People of Alumapalooza" and I'm one of those people! The above photo is of Bob Wheeler, Airstream's CEO and me during the event. He's about as cool and friendly as CEO's come. If you've never been to Alumapalooza, I highly recommend it. Watching Airstreams being hand built during the factory tour will make you feel like Willy Wonka! No golden ticket required (just registration),

Okay, I always try and make a point to leave things on an up note, so here's the upswing... I went to class tonight in San Francisco. The Oracle trade show was going on & I got detoured & detoured. I decided I'd park and walk by the Apple store. There was a crowd gathered in front of the store, taking photos of the shrine and reading all of the these little post it notes with personal messages written on them. Notes to Steve Jobs, and about him, all in different languages. I think about how many people stood on that corner, their lives inspired by one man, mine included. Then take that vision on a global level. That's huge. Inspiration is a beautiful thing to share. What's does your post it note of inspiration say?

September was back to school time. September triggered in me the need to learn, and grow, and move forward. What did & do I need to improve upon? Business. I've sprung forward, forging my own way by way of intuition and passion. That's wonderful, but what about finances, record keeping, business planning? So stifling, yet so necessary. I signed up for a "mini MBA" course with the Renaissance Entrepreneurship Center in San Francisco. Here we are in October, it's week four and I am energized, inspired, and am thrilled to learn all of those things I have procrastinated on learning. As I type this, I just got word of Steve Job's death. I'm somehow surprised that my breath is taken away with tears in my eyes. This man has been such an inspiration in our lifetime. This video of Steve Job's commencement address at Stanford is one that I have watched for inspiration when I need it. How about you? Will you vow here and now to sign up for a course, challenge yourself to commit to something? It will be well worth it, it will. What is it that "your heart and intuition truly want to become?".

Tilt Wedding Fair & Coloma Weddings

Here's my display for one of the two wedding events I'm participating in this Sunday. The first fair is the Tilt Wedding Fair in Oakland at the Swarm gallery (I just hooked up with them, so I'm not on the website, yet). I'll have this display there along with business cards and such.
The other life sized Airstream Wedding display will be at the Coloma Country Inn for the 'Weddings in Coloma' event. I hope to see all of you glowing couples in love there. An Airstream Wedding is a happy wedding!

It's such a treat to bring our vintage props, stage the scene & then know that my little silver babies and vision are part of a wonderful bigger picture- one full of lots of love and smiles. car accidents are no fun

Osa and I were in a bad car accident on August 15th at 7:52am pulling out of my driveway onto our speedy cross street. It’s the first accident I’ve been in as a driver.

My canine co-pilot and I have crossed the country together by car twice and have logged thousands of miles on the road. Yup, we were pulling out of our road and KAPOWW…

My car was struck, then flipped and was totaled. I hung upside down like a puppet, not knowing if I could walk, or if Osa was alive. I'll keep the story short- we got banged up, but spared (thank you to all of our angels). It's quite an emotionally traumatic process to go through in the week that follows; that was a bit unexpected.

What I can say, is how grateful I am for my friends and family, for the strangers who responded to the accident, how my husband pampered me, that I still love to drive, and that we have our lives before us. Life is so very precious.
Since we cheated death, Osa and I have to dream up something really, really big…

Rejuvenation Lighting & Silver Trailer's Airstreams

The funny thing about blogging is, you never really feel like anyone is reading your blog. Facebook is such an instant reward; post your thoughts and an image and, hey, people read it and reply! Easy. Blogging is a bit like airing a journal to the public, but feeling like no one is out there. Comments motivate a blogger to blog. So... here's my motivation to solicit some comments to fuel future posts. I haven't mentioned a peep about this secret online, so I'm telling my secret here first. We don't have kids, yet I delight in birth announcements. Here's my version:
Announcing the arrival of my new silver baby, Betty Jane! I'm so thrilled and excited about her potential! She's 17 feet long and is such a beauty, with a completely blank interior. Dreamy!

One month ago, "Betty Jane Bambea Two", a 1964 Airstream Bambi II joined my little silver shiny Airstream collection. The owners (and now friends) are the same ones that I bought my 1962 Bambi, Norma from. They contacted me to see if I'd be interested in their Bambi II. Ummmm... yes I am! It was fun to connect with them again after 4 years. Betty Jane's name comes from a combination of the original owner and the previous owner. Stay tuned with plans for the interior, I'm going incorporate products from my new favorite manufacturers. As always a big thank you for reading my blog. Nepal

If you ever get the chance to travel to Nepal, please go for it. It really was the trip of a lifetime.

I experienced so many "firsts": Parakawking, Holi day (being covered in bright pigmented chalk from head to toe), riding on the top of a bus (sorry, Ma), and cruising on a motorcycle through the the outskirts of Pohkara. I will forever be grateful to our friends, Justin & Laila, for inviting us. It was an amazing treat to get to know Laila's family as they invited us into their homes and welcomed our as their own family. G and I had an amazing time and can't wait to go back!

The Blogging Bar - home in Lotus

Well, I'm back from Nepal, settling into the swing of things. I really want to thank you for reading my blog, even if this is your first time here- I'm grateful that you're interested enough to take time to read it. Thank you, thank you.
I always love returning home with a fresh perspective. It's fun to see how much the plants have grown (including weeds!), and to notice the beauty and details around that normally become a bit of a blur when I'm in the swing of things. I'm trying to focus on the beauty in the details over the "projects", because that's what makes a home a home- the beauty in the details, the comfort of the familiar & the personal.
I've just today designated our little bar by the river, the "blogging bar". The sun is out for the first time since I've been here- from the sound of it, it's the first time it's been out since I left three weeks ago! This is a magical space, one that we created for our wedding when G and I got married here by the river 3 1/2 years ago. What better place to blog and design and create (okay, an Airstream is a great place to blog too), than this little cozy space. As I sit here in the "bb", I spy with my little eye:
~Osa doggie is finally taking in some sun after fetching her tennis ball returning to me faster than I could type and throw. I think she may be relieved when I tell her "Take a break". She does. Well, she's still willing the ball to move on it's own, but she's lying down at least. Oh the passion and obssession of a (part) retriever!
~I have my custom iPad cover next to me, one that I had made in Nepal from a womens' weaving cooperative where I would spend hours looking through different color cloth, feeling like I was in a design studio. It's a nice reminder of how much I learned, experienced and grew while I was in Nepal. I loved it.
~The river is high from all of the rain we've been getting- it has delivered me numerous amounts of driftwood to create with. I have a favorite piece that I'd like to make a shelf with.
~My ears hear the little birds, celebrating the sun, the geese across the river, honking and waiting for Osa to head up to the house for lunch so they can feed on the grass in peace.
~The mourning doves cooing, remembering times gone by and ones they've lost. Grateful to have loved them.
I feel like a came back from Nepal a slightly different person; a little more open. I grew. There's a lot to learn from a different culture. It's hard to put into words. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about if you've traveled somewhere very different from your own town. Have you had a similar experience recently? I'd love to hear about it if you'd like to share it here with a comment.
Perhaps I'll try and capture my Nepal experience in another blog post...
