Project Grace Children's Guild and Auction

Last night was the Project Grace auction . This is a charity for uncompensated care for Seattle Children's Hospital . It was a beautiful event . I was very touched by this charity . A mother of a child at Children's Hospital ,stood up on the small stage and told her story , while images of her baby showed him and his illness. Her sons illness is a rare disorder . She is a mother like so many of us and a brave one ! It was also Beautiful to see actual paintings from children on the tables up for auction also . Next year I hope more people donate . I told them I will be donating every year as this charity makes painting for me as an artist so rewarding! As anyone of us ,or some of us could or have went through a situation where our children are really sick . God Bless these women who have started this charity and really made it a Success !

After the Art Show

I had my art show last Saturday and I realized something . You can send out a million invites but that does not mean that people will R.S.V.P.. Out of the 60 something people I invited 30 showed up . I believe also I should have had less food and less wine . I'm still grateful people came out that evening to see my art , Thank you ,you know who you are ! I don't think I'll have another art show but, I will still keep on painting as this is what I'm supposed to do . I just believe you can never predict what will happen and I love that part of it . It is the nature of the Beast . To all the artists out there keep on painting no matter what happens :D God Bless !

Lot's to do !

This summer has flown in so fast . I have been very busy getting pieces done for Project Grace Guild and my first Art Show ! I'm so excited about both events . I feel like a Hoot Owl sometimes as once I get started painting I don't want to stop .The 3-4 am time frame sneaks up on me ever so often ! I'm doing smaller pieces for my Art Show and I did two larger pieces for Project Grace. I'm trying to show a little diversity in the things I love to paint .I'm so Grateful for Coffee ! There are not enough hours in the day ! I think at some point my husband will find me asleep on my art room floor :D

I painted the Snoqualmie Falls up here in Snoqualmie ,Washington . The painting itself has been enjoyable to do . There are many versions of it but I truly was glad to paint it as it would look at night .I had never done a waterfall before. This painting was a good little journey for me . I painted it for my friend Giovanna as she has wanted a painting of The Snoqualmie Falls .When I paint for a friend or someone I know I feel honored as the artist having the chance to capture something they love .

Steve's Coffee - Zoka's

I got asked a week ago to have my paintings up at Steve's Coffee - Zoka's ! This was really exciting for me ! I was also a little nervous about it as I've only shown my work on Ebay and my blog . My son and I went to put it up he is my helper . It looks very nice up on their walls .The paintings will be up there for the month of June .Steve is trying to show support for the artists in our area .This is a great thing he is doing .I'm truly Thankful and Grateful to Steve for asking me!

This is one of my newest paintings.

The under painting was solid black and white to bring out the colors and shadows.

As I work with each painting I find this is the best way to achieve the style of paintings I want to do. This painting is also a gift for my friends birthday. The inspiration was truly the art of the dance.

When life is in full gear sometimes it is hard as an artist to juggle life , creativity , and getting my painting done . I remember this is my passion and what I was set out to do . Lately I've really putting my painting last .When I have that moment when I can paint I do . I will be very glad when Summer comes our scedule will lighten up and I can concentrate more . I'm a homeschooling mom who is so grateful to be able to be an artist also !

I was so honored that I was asked to donate paintings for Project Grace ! The theme will be night time landscapes . I love the beautiful colors in the images, I'm going to be using . One is very dominately blue and the other red . Project Grace runs close to my heart as my gift of painting will be put to good use to help someone . Mexican Pueblo's

I was looking through images of New Mexico's Pueblo's and they are so beautiful ! Just the colors and structures of them are really a thing to see ! My next series of painting's will be on the New Mexico Pueblo's . I wonder about the history of these pueblo's . Just how these are so simplistic in shape and size . It really reminds me of my Grandma Dora .This is why I feel such a strong connection with this next set of paintings for me it is so spiritual . As an artist whenever I paint it has been something from my past childhood of loving memories ! I'm really glad I can express that on canvas , I had so many great memories with my Grandma Dora !

What I hope for others is to express your artistic abilities because we all have them ! You just have to try fear is what stops us from our true selves .We all have some form whether we paint ,draw , sculpt , or just do crafts . You just have to try you just might love it !

Painting for Christmas

Painting Christmas presents is one of my favorite things to do ! This year I only did two paintings . I just love the fact that I can give someone a gift from my heart and soul . Art is one of those gifts that keeps on giving . My children and I over the last few years we go to Michaels to get materials to make a Christmas ornaments to go on the Christmas Tree . When they get older and move on as an adult they will take the ornaments with them to put on their Christmas Trees to share with their family ! This is what Christmas means to me , the gifts of love and sharing that with our children and loved ones . As a child we'd make Christmas cookies and frost them . Some of those cookies were burned but, that did not matter ! My mother always also made her clam chowder soup and garlic bread ! We'd then finish the evening off at church at midnight to sing Happy Birthday to Jesus . These are traditions of love are ones I still do with my children and always will !

It's is funny how time goes by , us as artists are always changing . Looking back at when I first started drawing was as a little girl I never remember not drawing .My youngest daughter is following in my footsteps ! I'm very proud of that ! I'm grateful to see this ! She is drawing these pretty little girls with so much design in them . She reminded me of when I first drew Garfield and did bubble letters for my friends book covers . Art is so much a part of my spirit and soul ! Art is the one thing that no matter how much time goes by I can't live without it !

What Do You as an Artist Think About Political Art ?

I was wondering what people think about political art ? I'm not really happy about this as , some political art can be perceived as brainwashing . This kind of art was used in the past for personal political statements to be made . This is a very effective and sometimes damaging . This has been on my mind a lot lately . In that I see that history is repeating itself ,on a level that is now reaching our children in school !

Loving the Artistic Abilities of Others !

It is really great to see old friends that have such great artistic ability ! We are all such different creators of how we paint and draw ! When someone shares their gifts with you it is very special to me . I really get what is inside of that person and how they are feeling . The great old masters were some of the most expressive and passionate artists I have ever seen ! When I go to a museum or see art in the streets, I'm very drawn to the colors and images I see . We went to the Art Fair in Bellvue Washington last year and I was blown away by some of the artists . From woodworks to canvas it inspired me and made me so grateful to be able to be an artist!

More and more I love circus themed art . These are fun paintings to do ! So much of a circus is fantasy anyways . This last painting I finished was of monkeys at the circus. They are monkeys that are in charge and cracking the whip ! Themed paintings are my favorite paintings to create as it is such a freedom of whimsical expression . A lot of artist paint what they see instead of using their imagination from what is within . I use images as a ideas and then I create my own paintings from what I want to be my own .

I Sold Two Paintings Today !

It is always interesting when you go to show someone your paintings and then they end up loving them ! I love to see a persons expression as they see what you have created as an artist for the first time. The computer is such a great way to see our body of work , but it is something else to see a painting in front of you . The textures and colors are what define and make us such a diverse group of artists ! I feel very lucky to be able to capture my vision and put it on canvas ! The paintings I sold today are two very different lighthouse scenes . These lighthouse paintings were memories I remember as a child going to the San Fransisco Bay , with my father . I'm glad that someone is going to have a timeless enjoyment of one of the greatest memories of my past in their home !
