Canada's Wonderland Winterfest 2019

David and I went to Canada 's Wonderland Winterfest on Sunday November 24th 2019.

We got there around 3p.m. and walked around and thought we would get a quick bite to eat so we went to North Pole Treats and had the Bison Burger with Chips.

The burger was fine but the chips could have used more flavour.

Then we walked around a bit and thought we would go get theWinterFest Souvenir Mug with Hot Chocolate which was included in our ticket.

The lineups were very long for the mugs but we lucked out and found a shorter lineup.

If you are buying tickets with the Souvenir Mug you might want to realize you could be waiting for awhile to get it.

They had outdoor heaters throughout the park to go warm up.

During Winterfest there is limited rides available which was fine, as we were going for the Winterfest display.

They had shows and many decorations and lights through the park which was beautiful.

The stores were all set up in Christmas themes and winter and Christmas merchadise to purchase.

I wanted to see the Tree Lighting Ceremony which was at 5:30p.m. nightly for song and dance and the lighting of the two 50 ft. trees.

This was the first year of the Winterfest and I thought they did a great job.

It was very busy in some areas so be prepared and dress in layers as the weather is getting colder.

We had a nice night.

Escarpment Rail Trail Fall Day

My Husband and I went for a long walk on the Escarpment Rail Trail which took us about 2 and a half hours.

Beautiful colours.

When we were in the parking lot two people were doing a photo shoot with the
Volkswagen Beetle. They were there before we got there and still there when we finished the trail after.

Doanted Blood

I have wanted to donate blood for quite sometime now.

But I finally got around to being able to go and make that choice and do just that.

Lives can get busy and you say you will do something but than you forget.

My Husband and I had been out and about doing other things and I said about donating blood and we were wondering if you could just walk in or what you had to do.

Well we took our chances and walked in not being prepared at all.

We had not eaten that great that morning.

We had to fill out a questionnaire on an Ipad.

They take your blood pressure and hemoglobin and temperature before hand.

They gave me some snacks to eat and a juice box before hand as I had told them that I did not eat the greatest.

They said that if I do it again to make sure I eat enough and drink plenty of water the day before and the day of.

I think that they would prefer if you booked an appointment before hand but like I said we were out and about and thought about it when we were in the area.

I still felt that I was trying to do a good thing to help somebody.

When you finish giving blood you go sit down about 10 to 15 minutes and you can snack while waiting.

It was a beautiful day to take a hike with my Husband at Kerncliff Park Trail in Burlington Ontario.

We walked throught the trails and than we found another trail the led to the top of the Quarry Edge. This was our first time taking this trail and it was a very nice trail.

Headwaters Trail September 2018

In late Semptember2018

My Husband and I went to Headwaters Trail in Ancaster Ontario

and parked at the Robert E. Wade Ancaster Community Park and walked up to Old Martin Rd Trail to Headwaters Trail. Our first time taking this trail. Lots of ups and downs on this. A great workout for sure. We walked for 1 hour and 45 minutes roughly. Well used by walkers, joggers, bicyclists and equestrian.

These homes were at one time summer cottages. In around the 1940's they insulated them to make them year round homes.

To get here

You should take exit 68 Bartlett Avenue North and head toward the lake. Turn left onto Lake and then right onto Betts. Here you will see colourful gingerbread homes. You feel like you are in a fairytale.

My Husband and I went to Crawford Lake Conservation Area in September and spent a few hours walking the trails.

This was a very nice Conservation Area.

We also did a more rocky part of the trail.
Always dress properly when you are going hiking from footwear to clothes as that makes a difference.

The lady at the desk was very informative before we started the trails.

August 10 2018 Hiawatha the scenery along the Susquehanna River on a one hour cruise and you can listen and watch a TV monitor about the history of the lumber era.

as you can see how big they are and well kept property and the conditions of some of these home are in great shape

We really liked this hotel.

Very nice looking from outside to inside.

Breakfast was not included in with our stay.

We had a suite so our son slept on the pullout couch and it was very comfortable.

On August 7 2018 we went to The museum and visitor center at 1195 Baltimore Pike to have Steve Slaughter a Licensed Battlefield Guide drive our car and take us through Gettysburg telling us about the battle of the American Civil war. He gave a great 3 hour tour with so much information. My Husband and I went back the next day to some of the areas to look around more. These pictures are from the 7th and 8th.

The Battle of Gettysburg, fought from July 1 to July 3, 1863, is considered the most important engagement of the American Civil War.

You can tour the Utz factory from a hall of windows above the area where they make them.

It was a fun thing to. Great for all ages. Mostly if you like chips. 😀

It does say not to take photos but the lady at the desk said we could as with social media nothing is a secret anymore.

At the end of the tour each person gets a small bag of chips.

Trail can take up to 45 minutes to see all the rock formations through out. It was nice to see this trail. If you like trails and seeing many rock formations you will sure find them here.
It was a very hot August day when we did this and our son is not active so it was a little much for him. But if it was cooler I think he would have enjoyed it more.

Valens Lake Conservation Area

My Husband and I went to Valens Conservation area in the spring.

We had been talking about it and seeing photos of it many times so we thought we would go and check it out.

We think it was about $20 to get in.

Very nice area to walk around. We were there for a few hours from walking and taking in the scenery and photos.

Chedoke Radial Trail in January 2018

We enjoy walking this trail and each season is nice seeing. This walk we had a snow covered trail and frozen Upper Princess Waterfall and the bridge with snow on it.

Something about this bridge I like.

It was a cold day and people were on the trail from walking to jogging.

Near the Golf Course families were tobogganing.

Enjoy going for a walk and making sure you are dressed properly for the weather so that you are comfortable.

We did this in the middle of October and it was so nice.
Certain parts of the trail had more fall colours than others that you will see by the photos.

This was a nice loop trail that was 2 hours long.

Dundurn Stairs

Dundurn Stairs

The stairs are located at the South end of Dundurn St. At the top of the escarpment they are located at the foot of Garth St at Beckett Drive.

We like to walk the Chedoke Radial Trail and I kept on saying I wanted to do the stairs so I finally did in October.

We had walked the trail and got to the stairs and I went up and down them and than we walked back on the trail back to the parking lot.

Niagara Falls Getaway

In the middle of September my Husband and I wanted a night away so he booked us a night away to Niagara Falls and we stayed at the

Double Tree

Fallsview Resort & Spa by Hilton

which was nice and close to all the attractions

It was very nice looking hotel and a very nice stay.

For dinner we talked about going for a buffet so we went to

Falls View Casino Resort Grand Buffet

which was a big restaurant and yes there is seating to see the falls but we did not sit there.

I think you can ask but make sure you say it while waiting in line.

There was lots of food to choose from.

We ate very well and we were very full.

Than we went and walked around the falls at night

To start off our day we want to go do a trail so we went to

Niagara Glen

which was a very nice trail and a very good walk.

It took us about an hour and a half to do the trail.

Very nice scenery.

Got back to the top and walked along the top and saw the

Sifton Bog

I have not blogged in awhile

not sure really why. Maybe not just in the mood. I know at the time I shared on other social media but not here.

So do realize these are behind.

This is from August of 2017

We went to Sifton Bog which was a very nice area but it was a short walk and we were not familiar with the area so we did not check out to see if there was more areas to walk.

So don't go out of your way to drive here unless you are going to do other things.

Or look up the area to see what more trails you can walk as we did not really do that.

\which most times we do look up what we want to do but for some reason we just wanted to go for a drive and knew we were heading to the Sifton Bog.

Sifton Bog

Bottom Of Tews Falls

We have seen Tews Falls from the top many times but never have done the bottom trail. My Husband and I always talked about it and finally decided to do it.We did this last weekend. We went the wrong way on the trail so it was lots of climbing up and down and great exercise or should I say we were very sore for a few days.

Anyways a good description on doing this trail is here

Bitten Escapes to the base of Tews

When we finally made it all I can say it was worth it and you will want to go behind the falls if you can and get wet.

You can see at the top where people would view at the platform on the right.

Coming back off the trail we went the right way and it was a lot easier.
As we were heading back to the car we saw part of

Dundas Falls

Directions from Hwy 403: From Hwy 403 take the Hwy 6 N (Guelph) exit and travel approximately 3 km to Hwy 5 E. (Dundas St. E.). Turn left on Hwy 5 E. and then turn left onto Brock Rd. Brock Rd. will turn into King St. as you go down the Escarpment. The waterfall is under the railway embankment also the beginning of Tews falls trail starts soon
