Down to Essex again yesterday for the VERY hot and sunny wedding of Sophie and Tristan that was taking place at the stunning Essex wedding venue Blake Hall. Set in beautiful grounds it provides a stunning venue for weddings and we were even able to have an outside ceremony thanks to the hot weather.

After the ceremony guests were relaxing in the sun and we took the opportunity to have a short wander round the grounds to get a few wedding portraits with the happy couple, then they were on with the meal and some excellent and very funny speeches afterwards.

The band set up and the evening really kicked off with the first dance and probably went on long in to the night.

Summer is here ! and I was at Cressbrook Hall today for a meetup with Lizzy and Jeff who are getting married at this beautiful wedding venue next month. Safe to say that these two were very relaxed in front of the camera and my sympathies go out to Jeff … he really has his hands full !!!

I’m sure the day is going to be an absolute roller coaster of fun from start to finish if today’s pre wedding session was anything to go by and I’ll be with them all day to capture it all.

Yesterday was free of rain again and I was at Bolsover Castle to meet up with Kelly and Simon who are getting married at this stunning Derbyshire Wedding Venue in three weeks. We were there to have a quick walk around to show that you don’t need to take hours on your wedding day to get some great wedding photography, rather that 30 minutes is enough if you move quickly, meaning you have more time to celebrate with your guests.

All my wedding collections come with an engagement photography session as it is a great way to get to know your couple, it also means that no time is wasted on the wedding day as they have an idea of what is going to happen and it enables me to get the wedding photography portraits / bridals done with the minimum of fuss.

All couples choose a picture from this pre wedding session and I get it enlarged and mounted for them to use as a guest signing mat, not a small enlargement but a 15″ x 10″ picture with a 6″ mount all the way around

Both Kelly and Simon were great and even though Kelly was convinced she didn’t photograph well I think she will be pleased !

Oxford was the destination for yesterday’s wedding, at the beautiful Bodicote House in Banbury Oxford, with Emma and Ric. Now when I met with them for the pre wedding session they were really laid back …. at some point after that Emma had turned in to a bit of an organiser and everyone was working to a 4 page timings plan for the day … done to the minute !

We all started at Bodicote House and the ceremony was very relaxed and very enjoyable. The weather was on the chilly side but at least there was no rain. After some pictures we travelled back to Emma and Ric’s house for the wedding reception in a large Teepee in the field next to the house. Luckily being May and the start of summer – a friend had managed to provide a large hot air blower – so we didn’t freeze

All the guests enjoyed the celebrations complete with hog roast and the band was starting the evenings entertainment, after a very nervous first dance, as we left …. you could her the music as we drove away

Yesterday saw me in Essex at the stunning Gosfield Hall wedding venue for the marriage of Shelley and Michael. Gosfield is a beautiful venue for a marriage , set it open grounds and the building itself is full of character. Shelley and Michael had the weather on their side as it was a glorious summers day and all the guests were enjoying themselves outside on the lawns.

Everything was timed to perfection and even Michael arrived on time, which apparently is a bit of a novelty. The ceremony was outside in the sunshine and there was a blessing straight after for the couple which was very nice. Then it was on with the celebrations and the staff were superb and very well organised by Jo, the wedding organiser.

The first dance was a surprise for all the guests as Shelley and Michael had practised a routine and entertained everyone with twirls and spins. I left as the dance floor was filling and the party was getting in full swing.

For once this year yesterday proved to be pretty much rain free for the wedding of Alice and Matt at the beautiful St Andrews Church Prestwold. The day was planned down to the last detail – not saying Alice was a control freak, but I think everyone involved with the day had had numerous emails – and some of them at some very strange times! Even the Ushers were armed with walkie talkies.

However all the planning paid off and the church service was beautiful and then it was a short dash to Prestwold Hall which is a stunning wedding venue and only 150 yds from the church. Staff were superb and nothing was left to chance which meant that the celebrations went off without a hitch.

Threatening weather provided some interesting wedding photography, but the day was a mixture of bright sun and dark clouds. Alice and Matt were all smiles and were really enjoying themselves. When we left they had just finished a rather spectacular dance routine , to the surprise of their guests, and were in full party mood !

Yesterday saw me in the picturesque Derbyshire Village of Great Hucklow for the wedding of Tracy and Paul at the Old Chapel. Everything was very relaxed with guests walking to the chapel from the local pub and for once it was a dry start to proceedings.

I started at the beautiful wedding venue of Losehill House Hotel where Tracy and bridesmaids were getting ready. Again everything was calm and organised … well everyone seemed to have at least TWO lists done by a very well prepared Tracy ….

The service at the chapel was very relaxed and a real fun occasion – a quick walk through teh village for a couple of pictures infront of Tracy and Paul’s house and then it was off to the reception …. THEN it started to rain ! We still managed to get everyone organised for group shots and after a drink and a warm Tracy and Paul were off on a walk round Losehill for some wedding photographs and a time to relax.

The staff and service was as expected, excellent and everything ran like clockwork.

I left after the first dance and the party was just getting started.

Friday was the wedding of Danielle and Luke at the beautiful St Lawrence Church in Whitwell Derbyshire followed by a reception at Hotel Van Dyk. Again it was another week where fingers were crossed for the weather !

I started at Danielle’s house for preparation and all was very calm and Danielle was running to schedule (not that she is a control freak or anything) so there ws no chance of us being late. I then went to the church to meet up with Luke, who again was all smiles and no nerves !

After a great ceremony we came outside and were greeted by RAIN … no problem as all the guests didn’t mind and we still got the group shots done and completed, then we were off to the reception for the celebrations to continue. The weather didn’t play ball and the rain started coming down heavier … however we were helped by the fact that Danielle had a two glass limit for alcohol so didn’t mind in the slightest  about the rain and outside we went for some wedding photographs.

The staff were great and everything ran like clockwork and I left them as the disco was getting going and the guests were up on the dance floor to party the night away.

Today I was at Roche Abbey for a pre wedding / engagement session with Rachel and Daniel who are to be married in June. For once it seemed that the weather would behave and dare I say it we nearly had some sunshine! Rachel and Daniel were great and very relaxed so I’m sure their wedding photography on the day will be a breeze.

Here are a few that I liked from our wander round Roche Abbey.

Well at some point this year the weather is going to start and play ball. Nancy and James were getting married at the stunning Derbyshire wedding venue of Bolsover Castle in the beautiful Star Chamber and all fingers and toes were crossed for good weather as the castle can be a little exposed to say the least and rain would make the wedding photography difficult !

I started at Nancy’s parents for preparation and everyone was in good spirits, the slight knicker problem Nancy had was forgotten when she was presented with a box full of the appropriate garments to choose from ! Then we had the mishap of one bridesmaid and too many pies for the dress zip. Now she will maintain that the zip was faulty – but I’m not so sure. However despite this the weather was holding !

So off up to Bolsover castle to meet James and guests and await Nancy arriving. The wedding party arrived in a stunning vintage minibus followed by Nancy in a beautiful Rolls Royce wedding car ….. and still it didn’t rain !

After a great ceremony in the Star  Chamber we came out and – yep it started to pour with rain and the strong wind made it feel like the depths of winter, most of the groups were done and the guests left to go to the reception venue. Leaving myself, Nancy and James to try and get some wedding photographs using the stunning castle grounds, in the rain and wind ! Then it was off to The Fox and Goose for the wedding reception and party time.

The whole wedding had been closely organised by Julie and Dawn from Derbyshire Wedding Planners and I would recommend you look at them to help your day run smoothly – this one did despite everything the weather could throw at us.
