Cute As A Button Monogram

I love monograms and initials on anything and everything! So as soon as I saw this I knew I had to make it.

Supplies:

Canvas (with a frame), mine is 11x11

Buttons (your choice of color and size)

Fabric (enough to cover the canvas)

Needle and thread

Fabric Hoop (optional)

You can use the computer to print out a monogram in any size or font and trace it onto the fabric with a pencil. Then you have the choice to arrange the buttons ahead of time to try and get an idea of where they will go or just piece them together as you go.

Depending on your sewing skills and size of monogram, it could take any where from 2 to 4 hours to complete your project. Once all the buttons are attached to the fabric, tightly secure the fabric to the canvas' frame (stapler works well). Voila! A super cute monogram to hang on your wall!

Cinnamon Sugar Yummmmm

As soon as I saw this recipe I had to make it! Seriously, I went to the store the next day to get supplies! They are so simple to make and taste amazing.

All you need:
Can of Crescent Rolls
Large Marshmallows
Melted butter
Cinnamon and Sugar mixture

How to:
1. Separate crescent roll pieces
2. Dip one marshmallow in melted butter
3. Roll marshmallow in cinnamon and sugar mixture
4. Place marshmallow in crescent roll and roll up, pinching the dough together securely
5. Bake according to crescent roll instructions (350 for 12 minutes or until rolls are golden)

And the finished product.....

The marshmallows inside some of the rolls melt away but tastes just the same. I prefer the ones where they didn't, nice and gooey!

Hello! Welcome to my blog, Simple and Sweet!

Being raised a traditional southern girl, there is a strong belief in marrying young, having babies, and raising a family….except it’s 2011 and things don’t quite work that way anymore! So as thankful as I am for the influences that have come from my family, I am striving to find a way to merge the old-fashioned values I love with a contemporary flair.

I have to face it, my “timeline” has officially gone out the window. I’m 24 and not married…my grandmother makes a point of it every single time I see her. But instead of throwing a pity party until it’s my time to shine as a domestic diva (aka housewife) I have stepped it up and am taking advantage of a few talents that have been passed down to me. Practice makes perfect, right? And as I continue my journey to find “the one” (or at least the one who can put up with me for the long run!) I plan on sharing home projects, cooking ventures, and other life tidbits.

I most recently have embarked on a new found hobby of seeing something and becoming determined to re-create it on my own. Thus after wandering wishfully around stores and staring/drooling at the TV (usually Food Network) I resolved that anything they can do I can do too. Not only is it usually cheaper (yay!), but the satisfaction of having made something on my own makes the project seem ten times better.

Over the next week or so I plan on uploading pieces of my life and some of the projects I have successfully re-created so far. In the meantime, I highly suggest you visit www.pinterest.com or www.etsy.com to see what I obsess over on a daily basis. These websites have created a DIY monster! Haha
