Is there Natural Remedies For Fatty Liver ?

There are many natural remedies for fatty liver disease, however, most of them work if the condition is diagnosed in the early stage itself.

Hers are some natural home remedies to reverse fatty liver disease.

Fatty Liver Disease – What is it exactly?

Fatty liver disease is a condition when there is abnormal accumulation of fat in liver. This condition can arise due to excessive alcohol intake or excessive calories intake. In both conditions the excess fat accumulates in the liver – forming fat globules which can easily become the nucleus for calcification in later stage.

Its common knowledge that the liver is largest gland in human body and the second largest organ. Its primary job is to process nutrients from food and drinks and filter harmful substances from your blood.

Fatty liver disease in humans is also called Hepatic steatosis. 25% of the global population is diagnosed with fatty liver disease.

Fat from the food you eat needs to pass through liver to be digested, however when the fat content exceeds the threshold level, the gland begins to leave a portion of fat undigested which then begins to accumulate – developing into fatty liver.

What are the causes of Fatty Liver Disease?

Fat accumulates in liver due to several reasons. This accumulation involves

Increase in free fatty acids (FFAs) in the liver

Decrease in oxidation of FFA

Increase in synthesis of fatty acids in liver

decrease in secretion of very- low-density-lipoprotein [1]

Oxidative stress in the hepatocytes can activate stellate cells and lead to the production of collagen and inflammation.

Factors that may contribute to fatty liver include

The use of medications (e.g., tamoxifen, amiodarone, methotrexate)

Metabolic abnormalities (e.g., glycogen storage disorders, homocystinuria)

Alcohol

Nutritional status (e.g., total parenteral nutrition, severe malnutrition, overnutrition, or a starvation diet)

Other health issues like Wilson disease and celiac sprue.

What are the types of fatty liver disease?

I have always made sure to grow my own veggies, since my husband has a transferable job, we mostly stay at one place for not more than 1.5 years. Also at some places I seldom find enough space to grow my vegetables. However, Me Being Me, Nothing can stop me from growing my own vegetables, greens and herbs, little they may be but I manage to grow them whatsoever.

I have made it a point to use every wee bit of place I find that gets sunshine such as my terrace and even some space indoors, for gardening. For me getting the chemical free nutrition has always been the top most priority. What I find the most helpful is to grow vegetables on my terrace, herbs on my walls as vertical garden and microgreens – indoors.

Indoor Gardening And Microgreens – What are microgreens?

Since their introduction in India in these recent years, microgreens have steadily gained popularity.

These aromatic greens, also known as micro herbs or vegetable confetti, are rich in flavor and add a welcome splash of color to a variety of dishes.

Microgreens basically are tiny plants that have been germinated from seeds and are 14 to 17 days old. They are highly packed with nutrition that would leave you surprised.

1. These tiny plants contain all the frangrance, flavors and also the taste of the plant they are going to become.

2. In about just 14 days they are so hugely filled with nutrients you would do anything to get.

A research conducted by USDA by Gene Lester, and his colleagues at University of Maryland, College Park, have confirmed that the microgreens actually are packed with nutrients.

The researchers looked at four groups of vitamins and other phytochemicals – including vitamin C, vitamin E, and beta carotene — in 25 varieties of microgreens. They found that leaves from almost all of the microgreens had four to six times more nutrients than the mature leaves of the same plant.

3. and Thirdy – you could use them to garnish anything from Indian soups to Chinese food to Italian pizzas. They go with everything, just as the vegetable does.

In fact, I find I have done the right thing because I am able to maintain these indoor plants better due to their presence near me and size too. My latest addition to my indoor garden is my microgreens salad garden.

I would suggest you to give a try to this salad gardening. Mostly these days people don’t have a lot of space outside for a garden, or are just not that interested in digging up a big chunk of their lawn. The good news is you don’t have to. It doesn’t take a lot of space or soil to grow your own salad greens or microgreens as they are popularly called and you can do it inside, on your kitchen counter or in a sunny window.

The nice thing about growing microgreens indoors is that most varieties don’t need a lot of space or soil to grow and they grow fairly fast. microgreens also tends to grow well in temperatures that we’re most comfortable at in the house. As long as you find a nice sunny spot for your microgreens salad garden it will do well.

3 Reasons To Grow Your Own Salad Greens

Salads make great addition to your healthy diet meals and are a tasty addition to your lunchbox or dinner table any time of the year. They make the perfect light meal and you know you should be getting more leafy greens in your diet.

Why not start growing your own lettuce, other salad greens and microgreens so you have a steady fresh supply of greens at your fingertips. It’s a lot easier than you think and there are some very good reasons why you should grow your own salad.

Home-Grown Salad Greens Tastes Better

Let’s start with the obvious one first. Homegrown salad just plain tastes better. It is fresh, it has been grown in good soil, and it hasn’t been washed, sprayed, and processed days before it makes it on your plate.

If you haven’t had fresh, homegrown lettuce before, you’re in for a treat. If you need a little more convincing get your hands on some fresh lettuce from a gardening friend or your local farmers market. You’ll be ready to grow your own after the first bite.

You Control The Quality And Variety

One of the best parts of growing your own organic greens is that you control what goes in the soil and the plants. And you get to pick what varieties you want to grow. That means you have a lot more options than what your local grocer offers.

Grocery store produce varieties are grown for easy and uniform growth and longer shelf-life. Flavor and nutrition aren’t the main concerns. The opposite is true when you grow your own. You can pick varieties that taste amazing, but may not last more than a few hours in the fridge after you harvest them.

It’s Healthier

Last but not least, your home-grown salad will be a lot healthier. Nutrients quickly start to deteriorate after produce is harvested. When you grow your own, you can go from soil to table in less than an hour. It doesn’t get any fresher than that, which means you get more of the vitamins in your food.

Plus since you control the soil, the additives, and anything that happens to the plants while they grow, you can limit your exposure to pesticides, insecticides and the likes. When you grow organic, you know it actually is organic.

Microgreens Salad Bowls – What Are They?

Let’s talk about microgreens salad bowls. No, I’m not talking about the glass or wooden bowl sitting in your kitchen cabinet that you serve salads in. I’m talking about bowls or pots that you can grow your own microgreens in.

What are microgreens?

Since their introduction to the Californian restaurant scene in the 1980s, microgreens have steadily gained popularity.

They found that leaves from almost all of the microgreens had four to six times more nutrients than the mature leaves of the same plant.

and Thirdy – you could use them to garnish anything from Indian soups to Chinese food to Italian pizzas. They go with everything, just as the vegetable does.

You can repurpose an old traditional salad bowl to grow your microgreen in. Glass bowls don’t work as well since it’s impossible to add drainage holes in the bottom. Wooden bowls and bamboo containers should work well though as do ceramic planter bowls or even pots you’re no longer using for potted plants.

The basic idea is simple. You get a bowl or pot, fill it with potting soil, and plant your salad and salad fixings. A salad or microgreen bowl can include several different varieties of greens like lettuce, radish, palak or any of your favorite herbs. Or you can divide everything up in several different containers and grow a small tomato plant and a few green onions as well. Mix and match as you see fit, depending on what you like to eat.

That’s the fun of growing your own food. You can try different varieties and combinations until you come up with the one that works best for you. Along the way, you get to sample and try different varieties of microgreens your local market doesn’t offer. There’s so much more than lettuce and spinach out there.

Microgreen bowls are small and compact way to give gardening a try. They are also an excellent tool to help teach your children about where our food comes from and how it is grown. Get the little ones involved in planting and caring for the plants. Not only is it a great learning experience, it’s also a wonderful way to get them to eat more greens. After all, they’ve grown this produce.

How To Start Growing Microgreens At Home

Growing microgreens at home is very simple. All you need to do is take a shallow bowl or container. Take care that the container has a drainage hole. I prefer shallow bamboo baskets for this. They are easy to maintain and also are nature friendly.

Spread potting mixture in the container – you can learn how to make an ideal potting mixture here.

Spread your seeds closely together so that it makes a second layer.

Now spread a second layer of potting mixture just to ensure the seeds receive right amount of light.

sprinkle water, cover with a thin cloth and let the container stay for 24 hours.

the next day remove the cloth, sprinkle water if required. if you see tiny plant growth, then place the container in a place where you get enough light. sprinkle water whenever you feel necessary.

in 2 weeks you will see your favourite salad green ready to be haarvested and added directly to your salad.

Where to buy Microgreen Seeds

You can buy your microgreen seeds from your local nursery. These days you get the seeds online easily. You can even go for microgreen growing kits that come with the container to grow too.

Easy and Hassle Free way to grow your microgreens at your home

This kit infact is the best if you are a newbie to growing your own microgreens at home. It gives you the right container and seeds. This gives you enough confidence to begin growing your own food.

Once you see those first few harvests and get a chance to eat your own salad, you’ll be ready to expand your lettuce bowl collection.

Surya Namaskar, if you ask me what would be the best yoga posture to follow on a daily basis, I surely would recommend. Having a sequence of 12 steps surya namaskar is a complete exercise for both body and mind. Start doing surya namaskar on a slow pace, repeat from 5 to 6 times initially and slowly raise the number to as much as you ca. Infact some time earlier a popular celebrity claimed she performed 100 surya namaskars daily which was pivotal in her weight reduction.

well, with the celebration of world Yoga day today, one would never want to miss the ever energizing and best weight reducing sequence of asanas or the complete sadhana popularly called the Suryanamaskar.

Sun is the supreme power provider to all forms of life on earth. Plants convert sunlight to food by photosynthesis and this energy passes from them to all life forms from them. It is the reception of this energy that would energize you throughout your day. In suryanamaskar the postures are performed in a sequence, one after the other, with rhythmic pattern of breathing and with total awareness.

Surya Namaskar

Surya Namaskara can be performed by any person irrespective of their age. The best time for practice is early morning time, after finishing morning ablutions. It should be done in a clean well ventilated place. It should be done facing the sun. Each Surya Namaskar will consist of two series. Starting with right leg,12 steps will complete the first series and then with left leg in the second series. Beginners can start with 3 rounds and then slowly increase up to 24 rounds. Ideal count is 12 rounds.

Life today is filled with so much uncertainty these days due to the corona virus pandemic that one needs to rethink on the lifestyle we have chosen. Fighting the virus with medicine seems totally unpredictable and what we need to depend more is on our own body immune system. It has become more important to learn how to boost your immune system so that you would be able to withstand the viral attack and fight it out.

In fact it is very important that you understand that the body’s immune system basically arises from the bone marrow cells and extends throughout almost every organ starting from the skin cells. Your immunity is a cooperative work of mature cells of skin, bone marrow, blood stream, thymus, lymphatic system, spleen and mucosal tissue.

Hence, if you are keen on boosting your immune system, you need to begin with a wholesome approach beginning with your skin.

Ways to Boost the Immune System Natural

Sun Exposure : The Best Antibiotic and Antiseptic

The ultra violet rays emitted by the sun is capable of killing 99% of microbes, Sun exposure is very important to your overall health.

To naturally increase immunity of body you need vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Especially vitamins A, C, E, D and B-6; and folic acid play a very important role in immunity building, micronutrients such as zinc; selenium; iron; copper; have important influences on immune responses.

Unlike other essential vitamins, which must be obtained from food, vitamin D can be synthesized in the skin through a photosynthetic reaction triggered by exposure to UVB radiation. For most people, a half-hour in the summer sun in a bathing suit can initiate the release of 30,000 to 50,000 IU (1.25 mg) vitamin D into the circulation within 24 hours of exposure. Thus daily sun exposure for at least half an hour is very important.

The human eye contains photosensitive cells in its retina, with connections directly to the pituitary gland in the brain. Stimulation of these important cells comes from sunlight, in particular, the blue unseen spectrum.

Good Nutrition Is Key To Immunity

Also some food contain special properties that fight or prevent any external entrants, such as pathogens, from entering the cell mitochondria.

Foods That Boost Immune System naturally

To enhance your immunity naturally, a good nutrition is the key. Here is a list of — foods that will help to boost your immunity naturally,

Garlic

Although garlic usage has been traditional in most cultures for both its culinary flavour and medicinal advantages, recent research has given more reason to the usage.

A compound in garlic called allicin is seen to reduce the risk for cardiovascular diseases, have anti-tumor and anti-microbial effects, and show benefit on high blood glucose concentration.

Ancient Chinese and Indian medicine recommended garlic to aid respiration and digestion and to treat leprosy and parasitic infestation.

Garlic has attracted particular attention of modern medicine because of widespread belief about its effects in maintaining good health. Some of its benefits include

i) reduction of risk factors for cardiovascular diseases,

ii) reduction of cancer risk,

iii) antioxidant effect,

iv) antimicrobial effect, and

v) enhancement of detoxification foreign compound and hepatoprotection

All this from those humble kernals. To get allicin completely from garlic it is important to take raw garlic. Raw garlic can be cut into small pieces and taken in as we take tablets. There are a few precautions you need to take while taking raw garlic

cut raw garlic and let it on a plate for a few minutes.

chewing is the best but due to its pungency you can just try to bite a little bit so that the allicin in garlic mixes with saliva and gets converted to usable form

2. Turmeric

Turmeric has always been a favorite of mine. Since my college days I have been using turmeric as an immunobooster effectively. Raw turmeric is always better because it has more curcumin content in it in an available form.

Corcumin a polyphenol present in turmeric and has been studied to aid in the management of oxidative and inflammatory conditions, metabolic syndrome, arthritis, anxiety, and hyperlipidemia.

Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties are the two primary mechanisms that explain the majority of the effects of curcumin on the various conditions. (1). What makes the curcumin special is its ability to scavenge free radicals in the body thereb not letting them combine with other immenent components present in the body.

Curcumin present in turmeric, like vitamin C, is a lipophilic compound, which makes it an efficient scavenger of peroxyl radicals, therefore, like vitamin E, curcumin is also considered as a chain-breaking antioxidant. (2)

However one limiting factor of curcumin is its reduced bioavailability, which can easily be enhanced by adding it to piperine present in pepper.

3. Pepper

Black pepper (Piper Nigrum L.) is an important healthy food and is a source of rich antioxidants. It also has antimicrobial potential and gastro-protective component. Piperine as the active ingredient of black pepper, and is recently studied to boost nutrient’s absorption and improve gastrointestinal functionality. It also helps in

Pepperine easily binds with curcumin and makes it bioactive. I would suggest that you take a few pieces of raw trumeric and around 5 to 6 black pepper first thing is the morning. If you are confortable taking coconut oil, do take 1 teaspoon full of coconut oil with this to make it more effective.

The most far-reaching attribute of piperine has been its inhibitory influence on enzymatic drug biotransforming reactions in the liver. (3)

There have been peope who have reversed diabetes, high blood pressure and excess weight.

4. Ginger

Ginger is a spicy, pungent herb that’s used culturally for cooking and healing. Among the many medicinal use of ginger, treating cold and symptoms of cold stands out.

Ginger provides anti- inflammatory properties owing to the occurence of gingerols, shogaol, and paradols, the basic functional ingredients of ginger. This helps in pain relief, relief from cold and chest conjestion and also sore throats.

Ginger is also believed to have antimicrobial properties that may help fight infections (bacterial or viral), including those that cause sore throats.

You can make tea with ginger in it to soothe your throat (3) , you can also make rasam using ginger. I generally make a kadha using allt he above ingredients. I will give the recipe and details of how to prepare the kadha later in this post.

5. Amla or Gooseberries

I think you already know the proverb – an apple a day, Keeps The Doctor Away!!! Its mainly because of the vitamic C content of apple.

Well let me tell you – one single gooseberry has seven times the amount of vitamin C an apple has. Taking gooseberries everyday is very mportant to keep away any sort of infections.

Gooseberries contain almost 46% of your daily requirement of Vit C and taking them in itself is a way to ward off any infectious diseases. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and vital to your nervous system, immune system, and skin. Vitamin B5 is necessary for creating fatty acids, while vitamin B6, which many enzymes and cells in your body need to function, helps convert food into energy.(4)

Gooseberries are an excellent source of antioxidants, including vitamin C, small amounts of vitamin E, and phytonutrients such as flavanoids, anthocyanins, aromatic acids and organic acids.

6. Lemons

Lemon has vitamin C and has long been essential for staving off cold symptoms and boosting immunity. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and helps boost your immunity. Having lemons zest/peel along with the pulp in hot water everyday makes you less prone to diseases, especially common cold.

Vitamin C also helps in the formation of collagen which helps to reduce the effect of asthma and other respiratory diseases. Using an infuser is the best and easy way too.

Citrus flavanoids possess several biological activities and have emerged as efficient therapeutics for the treatment of Cardio vascular diseases. Properties of Citrus flavonoids that make it special are

They scavenge free radicals,

improve glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity,

modulate lipid metabolism and adipocyte differentiation,

suppress inflammation and apoptosis, and

improve endothelial dysfunction.

The intake of citrus flavonoids has thus been associated with improved cardiovascular outcomes.

In case of cold, drink the juice of lemon mixed with warm water. For sore throat, mix lemon juice to warm water and sea salt and gargle it every two hours. You can get rid of sore throat within no time.

7. Seeds

Flax seeds, pumpkin seeds and hemp seeds are rich source of zinc. As I have said earlier zinc is a very important mineral to boost your immunity naturally.

For example, 3 tablespoons (30 grams) of hemp seeds contain 31% and 43% of the recommended daily intake of zinc for men and women, respectively. One handful of these seeds in any form is all that you require to make yourself immune from respiratory diseases.

In addition to boosting your zinc intake, these seeds also contain fiber, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals, making them an excellent addition to your diet.

You can roast these seeds and take them as snack. Here are some tips on including seeds om your diet

Use as salad toppings. Coarsely grind the seeds and add them as topping to any salad.

When you make laddoos, add some seeds after frying them in ghee.

Add seeds to your daily breakfast either in kichdi/pongal or in chutney.

Sprinkle a handful of seeds on smoothies, salads, cereals.

Make granola energy bars

Add to baked foods.

Add to vegetable stir fries

Eat as roasted snack either spicy or sweet.

Use seed oil to sprinkle over salads and vegetables.

It’s no wonder that these super seeds regained popularity in the recent years due to their dietary and medicinal properties. It’s better to use organic pumpkin seeds to reap the full benefits from this super food.

Stay Hydrated

This is on the top of my list because staying hydrated solves 50% of the problem. When we get up in the morning after an eight hour fast, our immune system is drained.

By making our body hydrated, the necessary nutrients travel throughout the body and refresh us. At the same time, it also flushes out toxins from our body.

But take care not to overdo it. Drink the right amount of water.

2. Less Stress and more Harmony

When we are stressed out due to work or any other psychological stress, the adrenal gland pumps in epinephrine and cortisol.

When these hormones are secreted, they initiate a variety of processes including our metabolism and immune response. But too much of these hormones lead to break down of our immune system.

Hence, take care to keep your stress under control and practice anything that you enjoy to keep yourself calm.

4. Get Adequate Sleep

Sleep is when both the body and mind relaxes. When there is sleep deprivation, it disturbs the immune system.

People with less sleep are tend to get more common cold. Their inflammatory chemicals are also elevated.

Sleep for 8 hours a day to remain fresh, both inside and outside.

5. Have an Exercise Regimen

Physical activity has its own set of benefits. In addition to decreasing your stress level, it flushes all types of toxins in the form of urine and sweat. Also, white blood cells and antibodies reach the entire body during exercise. Having an exercise Regime fights obesity too.

6. Avoid Smoking and Alcohol

Nicotine in Tobacco causes anxiety, depression and nervousness which in turn weakens the immune system. It also leads to heart disease. It is recommended to stop smoking to improve immunity.

Alcohol harms the body by ripping off the nutrients from the body. Avoid alcohol for a healthy immune system.

7. Maintain Hygiene

Good personal hygiene keeps germs at bay. Though hygiene doesn’t directly affect the immune system, it certainly helps in keeping you healthier.

Our immune system is the best line of defense. Let us take care of it and make it the best one.

Immunity keeps you charged and healthy throughout your life and it is important to know How to Boost Immune System Naturally.

Well, the immune system in our body is responsible for fighting off any sickness. It is made of a network of cells, tissues and organs, and they work together to protect the body.

However, if there is a whole network that is kept ready to fight sickness, then why are people getting sick?

Everyone gets sick at one point or the other but the immune system helps to get us back to normal.

With the help of vaccines, the immune system is kept well prepared to fight the diseases.

Problem arises when someone gets sick more often which means there are chances that he/she might have a weak immune system.

Why does an otherwise Strong Immune System Weaken?

The immune system protects our body from all kind of infections and also restricts the cancerous growth and tumours inside the body. But immune responses are weakened by many external factors. The important factors are

– Stress

– An unbalanced and poor diet

– Consumption of Alcohol

– Smoking

– Lack of Sleep

– Lack of Exercise

– Lack of Hygiene

– Obesity

– Unnecessary Medications

– Exposure of body to Chemicals, UV and Radiation

– Dehydration

Do you know? All these factors can be controlled by you. By making lifestyle changes, we can naturally strengthen the immune system.

There are many reasons to keep your home bacteria free, and
the first among them is the need to protect your loved ones who spend most of
their time within these walls.

It is a general belief that homes are the safest places, and
that is why we tend to keep ourselves indoors when there is an outbreak of
disease. Shockingly, homes provide the most favourable condition a germ would
love. Dust particles form the point of attachment for the germs.

Who are most Vulnerable to Germs At
Home

There are two groups of people who are most vulnerable to the germs at home, the pregnant women and newborn babies.

Pregnant women need to deal with the baby (a totally new
entity) within themselves. At this phase their immunity is the lowest because
the body tends to produce the least amounts of antibodies so that the baby in
tummy is not affected. Thus the body of a pregnant woman can easily be affected
by germs.

Pregnancy is very tricky in the point of view of both mother
and child because the health of the mother is directly linked to the child’s
health too.

New Born Baby on the other hand enters a new environment
from a safe cocoon and thus is very much susceptible to sudden infections. It’s
always important to keep the child as safe as possible. Even common cold can
cause serious reverberations in the child’s future health.

Also if the child keeps getting numerous infections he/she
will become dependent on medication which is one thing which is strongly a no.
It is very important to grow your baby in a safe home and make him/her strong
enough to fight diseases naturally, for this a safe germ free home is a must.

How do Germs Enter Home

Microbes can thrive anywhere warm and moist. Viruses need a
live host; however they can also thrive on other bacteria or insects/pests.
Germs can enter your home through air, tiny dust particles or though common
insects like housefly and mosquito.

These germs also can enter though people who frequent your
home – from their hands usually through touching
infected people or contaminated surfaces. Germs can also travel through water
droplets expelled from our mouths and nose when we cough, sneeze or talk.

Common sources of germs in the home are:

Contaminated food and water.

Regularly touched surfaces like walls, doorknobs, taps, TV remotes
and telephones.

Cleaning and waste areas like bins, sinks and toilets.

Household waste like used or stale food, used tissues and soiled
nappies.

Cleaning items like cleaning cloths, sponges and dirty
toothbrushes.

Pets and other animals like rodents and flies.

Other people.

How To Make Home Germ Free

You must have understood the importance of making your home
germ free by now, now let me discuss how to make your home germ free, so that
you will be able to protect your child from within the womb. The protection
must be an inclusive one so that you make sure that all the entry points of the
germs are sealed well enough.

Protect Your House From Insects

keep your home germ free with silver ion technology in paints

The first step towards keeping your home germ free is
stopping the carriers namely dust, contaminated water and insects. Seal the
outer walls thoroughly and equip the windows with right meshes so that no dust
or dirt is carried into your home through air. Insects also can be kept at bay
with this.

An effective way of keeping microbes at bay is by covering
the doorstep with diluted turmeric water. This will make sure those microbes,
which may have been carried by the feet of people passing by, is cleaned off.
Also place a camphor vaporiser near the door; you can effectively reduce the
insects.

Spray some neem water on the outer side of your home once every two days.

2. Protect The Inner Walls Of Room

The inner walls of the rooms you use can be protected from harbouring bacteria by using an Anti-Bacterial Paint – A recent introduction by Asian Paints– the Royale Health Shield.

It kills 99%* infection causing bacteria on walls. This paint is the first anti-bacterial paint that is equipped with Silver Ion Technology and the silver Ion Technology is recommended# by the Indian Medical Association for its powerful Anti – bacterial activity. Several research studies also have proved the same. We have been aware of use of silver as antibacterial medicine especially in eye drops and even colloidal silver for getting rid of bacteria in your body. Silver ions hinder the microbial growth and deplete them of much required nutrient supply. Silver nanoparticles are completely safe for humans.

Royale Health Shield paint is thus very effective in keeping your interior walls bacteria free and healthy.

3. Make A Cleaning Routine

Make cleaning your home a routine. Dusting and sweeping must
be done every day, use a mild floor cleaning disinfectant to mop the floor. You
not only need to clean the room which is used but also need to clean the entire
house. Here are some pointers for you.

Make a Cleaning Schedule: Instead of trying to clean
your whole house at once, make a cleaning schedule, this will help to clean
routinely. Cleaning a little every day is the easiest way to keep your home
germ-free. Instead of reacting to dust, mold, and other germs, you can
proactively prevent germs from building up in the first place.

Wash Your Bedding: Wash all of your sheets,
towels, and other bedding materials regularly in hot water. Dust mites
accumulate rapidly in these items, and you tend to be in contact with them
frequently.

Clean Curtains and Ceiling Fans: Vacuum or wash your curtains
and drapes and dust off your ceiling fans. Both of these areas can trap a lot
of germs and dust that are not easy to see.

Put Down the Toilet Seat: Toilets are some of the most
germ-infested places in your home. Clean toilets daily, use disinfectants
thoroughly. Try to put down the lid of your toilet seat prior to flushing, to
prevent bacteria and germ-infected water from landing on other surfaces in your
bathroom, where it can survive for a couple of hours.

Shake Your Shower Curtain: Shaking out your shower
curtain after showering can prevent moisture from building up in your bathroom
by causing excess water to evaporate.

Your Toothbrush: Leaving your toothbrush out
in an open dish on your bathroom counter can cause it to become infected with
germs. Toothbrushes should be stored in separate containers and put away in
drawers.

Disinfect Your Sponge: Sponges are filled with germs
and bacteria, and a simple rinsing will not eliminate them completely. Instead,
put your sponge in the microwave for 1-2 minutes or run it through the
dishwasher. Routinely check your dishwasher to make sure it is running at a
high enough temperature to kill bacteria.

Change Your Filters: Change your vacuum, furnace, and air conditioner filters frequently, so that you are cleaning and purifying the air and carpets, rather than adding more germs and dust.

4. Use Indoor Plants That Clean The Air

protect loved ones with Bacteria killing paint

There are a number of indoor plants such as peace lily, sansevieria, and English ivy and so on. Indoor plants not only make the home beautiful or become a part of the interiors, but there is more health benefit associated with it. Plants, in general, purify the air by absorbing carbon dioxide in the air and giving out oxygen. Thus, they take away our dullness and make us feel fresh throughout the day. Other benefits are

They are natural humidifiers and are good for people with respiratory problems.

They improve our mood.

5. Don’t Let Your Home To Be Too Moist

Moisture is germs best friend. They would colonise easily in
moist places, so always keep an eye for the rooms’ general moisture content.

Use your fans to keep the room dry. Using a room heater for a few minutes is advised to make the air dry enough so that it does not carry too much moisture with it.

6. Use Silver and Copper Vessels For Water

Silver and copper vessels to store and drink water are a very effective way of staying away from germs. These metals naturally fight against microbes and hence guard you from infections.

Germs are of different kinds and always try and thrive in
every condition possible, constant attention to your living conditions,
environment and cleanliness is the only way to keep them at bay.

There are a number of natural home remedies for every kind of health issue you might have, In fact I have totally become overwhelmed by the ease of use of these home remedies and also their availability.

If you read my posts regularly you will easily sense that most of my recent posts are about natural home remedies, self care and how to keep yourself healthy using kitchen ingredients. All this is because I have thoroughly learnt what it actually means to be sick from a recent illness I had to accidentally suffer.

It all began with a pain in my lower back, I had approached a popular physiotherapist looking to get some ease from pain. He mistakenly gave me occupressure in wrong places leading to muscle inflammation at three points through which the nerve passes. Well, Instead of getting cured I ended up expressing the signs of a sciatica or a flash nerve pain travelling across the spine to the toe.

I could hardly sit, lie down on my back or walk – for 2 complete months I was on total bed rest.

During this period I went through a series of treatments, medications, therapies and steroids to control sciatica – which actually was not there in the nerve. Even after repeatedly telling the doctors that I did not have nerve pain and I was very sure that it was muscle pain – none were ready to listen to me.

With my home getting gloomy by the day, the children skipping their schedules and studies and me feeling as if I am nearing a situation where to even sleep rightly seemed like a dream – I resorted to natural home remedies for help.

The first thing I did was to get up and get moving (slowly in the begining and normally soon after).

Then I checked up on a local massager and got her to come home and give me oil massages (oils I chose) with less pressure in slow movements – but I did this regularly. I began taking herbal tea, calcium supplements and meditation sessions for self curing – I could feel the pain slowly subsiding.

And finally I began preparing a menu that includes food for each part of my body and would strengthen and keep my complete body healthy. It has been a tough journey but I did learn a lot in it.

Today if you ask me what I would want as gift and what I would gift to someone special – I would say health! So this being the prompt for #WordsMatter, I felt I should bring all the research I have been doing for the past two months into a post.

Yes! Health is the real wealth- and I learnt it through experience.

I feel I should pass this knowledge on – and I have compiled all that I learned, so if any one has any difficulty regarding the health they can easily check back and do take the right natural home remedy that suits them.

I have experienced that food is the first and foremost medicine and has the power to protect any every organ in the body. This was what was observed in Ayurveda too.

Ayurvedic treatments is based on the principle of a healthy diet, food that is fresh and natural. Avoid food which is processed and those with preservatives. To reap the full benefit of the food for optimal health

Consume a diet consisting of organic vegetables and fruits.

Visit your local Farmers Market to buy fruits, vegetables, and spices rich in antioxidants and natural brain health boosters.

Let us begin from the head – particularly the brain.

Natural Home Remedies to Keep Brain Healthy

According to Ayurveda mental performance or brain health is controlled by three aspects
1. Dhi – The ability to understand and learn and is controlled by Vata dosha.

2. Dhriti – is processing capacity and analysis and is controlled by Pitta Dosha,

3. Smriti – is the ability to remember and memory power. Kapha Dosha controls Smriti.

These three aspects in our body control the mental ability of a person. These factors should be balanced and must be optimum for a person to have the best performance of the brain. These three factors can be maintained or controlled by diet, lifestyle, and sleeping habits.

Curry leaves or Kadi Patta – For Health

The humble curry leaves or kadi patta, which we commonly keep aside while we eat is loaded with so many health benefits for health that you sure are going to be left speechless.

It s common knowledge that curry leaves benefits the growth of hair, good skin, eyesight and brain health. Curry leaves are rich in vitamin A, vitamin C, polyphenols, and alkaloids like mahanimbine and mahanine.

However when I was trying to get rid of toxin accumulation in my body due to intake of steroids I found that our own karuvaepillai or meetha neem is all that I needed. Curry leaves contain an organic compound called cinnamaldehyde (the natural compound is responsible for the aroma and flavour of leaves).

Studies show that leaves of curry plant are rich in antioxidants with prolific free radical scavenging activities. They can ameliorate steroid induced gastric damage and when taken regularly can revert toxic effects of such medications.

Most of the Asian cuisine have curry leaves in the recipe like vada, kadi, rasam, and as curry leaves powder added to hot steamed rice and desi ghee is a delicacy.

I began taking curry leaves chutney or Karuvaepillai thovayal, to get rid of unwanted effects of steroid medications I had to take, I learnt it also helps to maintain brain health and prevent neurogenerative disorders.

Studies show polyphenols in curry leaf helps to treat cognitive mental disorders and Alzheimer’s disease. Take Karuvaepillai thovayal for 45 days regularly; there will be an improvement in memory and development in mental health.

I am a coconut person, I would anyday have a spoonful of coconut oil. However until late I never knew I was doing something great for my brain.

Coconut is an excellent brain food as its medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) serve as fuel in running the brain. Ketones come from MCT when processed, and these ketones are used as fuel for the brain to function when the availability of glucose in the blood is low.

Under normal healthy conditions, glucose is the fuel for brain function, but when in an emergency condition, ketone from coconut is used backup energy supplier to keep up the brain cell activity.

It is advised to take two pieces of coconut regularly for brain activity and performance. You can take coconut oil regularly first thing in the morning. This will help in getting other antioxidants that you take such as turmericbe absorbed better by the body.
