After the election 2013, things got busy until the weekend so I got no chance to blog. I decided to blog today to have a break from work. I am glad with the things that are happening to me. Samsung Galaxy Y is now memory full

If you remember my first ever smartphone, I am now disappointed of what is happening to it. Imagine, the OS is just Gingerbread. This phone will be 2 years in my hand this November. I still don't have money to upgrade for a more powerful smartphone. Because of my job, Samsung Galaxy Y is not enough for me anymore. I need to upgrade but not now.

Then I decided to pamper myself. I brought mom with me for a massage at Thai Boran in Minglanilla. I wasn't able to take some pictures. I was so stressed and I need to relax. I don't have any day off.

After the massage and haircut, I proceeded with pedicure. It was nice talking to the lady above because she gave me advice about taking care of my toe nails.

There goes Mingming, she just gave birth during Mother's Day and yes she's a mom again. But this time we are really hoping for her to be a good mom and keep these kittens alive and grow.

I Vote 2013

Yesterday, I exercised my right to suffrage. It was my second time to experience with the PCOS machine and good thing my ballot was not rejected.

Advantage with the PCOS Machine

After with the Hello Garci issue, the PCOS machine lessened the "ballot switching" incident with Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. The PCOS machine started last 2010 when President Ninoy Aquino won and the 2nd place went to the Ex-President Joseph Estrada (who was ousted by People Power 2). I cannot imagine an Ex-President who was ousted would be President again if not with then-Senator Ninoy Aquino. Just imagine, what was going to happen with the Philippines if PNoy didn't run or no PCOS machine?

If PNoy didn't run and Ex-President Estrada was not included in the presidential race last 2010, Villar or Gordon would be okay for me.

Disadvantage During the Election Day

Even though PCOS machines were present during that day, the problem was the precinct system. A lot of people experienced four of hours of waiting before they had their turn to vote. For me, the system was disorganized. Some people already fainted because they had not eaten their lunch yet. Some people left their queue to eat lunch and went back to line again.

With my experience, we are five in the family who can vote. The five of us had different experiences. Although we had the same precinct numbers, we were in different clusters in A, B, C and D. My two siblings were in the same cluster A, my parents were in both cluster B but I was in C. My father is a Senior so he has the privilege to vote with no hours of waiting. My two siblings had no issue of waiting in line and finished less than 20 minutes or 15. My mom and I had to wait for an hour and few minutes in order to vote.

What's really wrong? Why it was disorganized? I really did not understand that day why it was easy for my two siblings with their precinct and we had to wait for so long together with my mom?

Conclusion

Either it's the PCOS machine or the old way MANUAL tallying system, we can still experience waiting in vain before it's our turn to vote.

Disclaimer: This is my opinion and I have no intention to offend anyone. But I am hoping for improvement during another election day in the Philippines which people don't have to wait for so long in order to vote.

Happy Mother's Day To All Moms

First of all, Happy Mother's Day to my Mama Estela. We celebrated Mother's Day in advance last May 7, 2013 for a Sumilon Island Getaway. I've been talking about this a lot to mom and she really wanted to go to the beach. I will blog our experience at the island on my travel blog at ITravelRox.com. Yes we enjoyed the island and hopefully to go back there again. :)

If you remember this blog post few days ago: Should I Get a Nikon D3100?, last Friday I got myself a Nikon D5100. A friend advised me that I should not get an entry-level SLR if I really want to pursue photography. For pro-level, get a Nikon D7000 but it was already out of my budget. A D5100 is an intermediate-level DSLR with better features than an entry-level SLR.

Flowers On My Table

Today is the first weekend of May and I realized that it is the festival of "Flowers of May" or Flores de Mayo. It would be perfect timing to blog about flowers. A month ago, I blogged about it here that I received red roses from my boyfriend. On the next day, I was amazed how fully bloom the flowers were. I felt so beautiful and inspired to work in my mini-office.

That time I kept on staring the red roses and I love how those red roses complemented with the color of the vase. Also, my laptop is red in color and I felt so feminine with the expression, "Ang haba nang hair ko!"

In some way, my working perspective with flowers on my table had changed because someone remembers you or to remind you that you are beautiful. But if you are not yet in a relationship, you can still give yourself some flowers to remind yourself that you are beautiful. In a stress working environment, flowers will always keep us smile. It was like a stress reliever to me.

To all ladies and moms who are working at home, do you also put flowers on your table? How do you feel about it?

Should I Get a Nikon D3100?

I already found this image a long time ago but a few minutes ago, I searched the image to answer if I should get a Nikon D3100. A DSLR camera was already on my list that I should have, you can see it here. I know I can afford it but I keep on reviewing my net worth and also if I still have the emergency fund to retain for the next month. Yes, I can come up with an excuse to get it for "work purposes."

Still I realized that I still have no time go to the camera store until the end of May. I just purchased a laptop last January and it seemed like I've been a gadget freak this year of 2013. But these gadgets fall down to work-related as an investment. ;)

Elance Work Differently Summit in Cebu

Few weeks ago, I received an invitation from Elance for the summit first time in Cebu. Last night, Elance members in Cebu gathered at Chateau de Busay for the said event. I joined Elance last year of July but I applied seriously and earned few jobs last year of December.

The night was great because it was full moon. I envy DSLR users for they got the chance to take several snapshots of the full moon. Chateau de Busay is totally awesome - my first time there, and the food was great too. I was able to meet other Elance members.

Bantayan Island Last Weekend

I just got home today and I am so effin' tired but I have lots of things to do. Yeah right, I'm back to work. Actually I was bringing my work while travelling. I realized that bringing your laptop with you is not really that great. Well, unless if you are in a week-long travel while working.

We decided a two-night stay because I realized that an overnight stay is not enough. Gladly, I was permitted by my one of my clients to have a vacation. The other one just ignored my e-mail so I was forced to bring my lappy with me.

Here are some of the shots I took with my Olympus digicam. This is not edited and I am going to post it soon on my travel blog at ITravelRox.

Waah, looking at the photos above I realized that my Olympus digicam takes beautiful snapshots. I was thinking if I should upgrade myself for a DSLR camera.

The Parlay Roulette System

Last Year, I had the chance to get inside a real casino. I really don't know how to play the games there but I was interested because it is associated with Mathematics. Math is not my favorite, really. I envy people who are good in Mathematics and can play this kind of game.

Of course, a lot of people play this game to make money. As a person like me whose Math is not really a favorite, I can play it using the parlay roulette system. I found software which I can download for free. With this I can practice playing roulette.

As what I have my little understanding with the system, if you decide for a winning goal let’s say $100, you can start with the original bet for $10. If you bet on the wrong color, you are going to lose but still left unchanged for your next bet. But if you win on the right color, you can use the winning amount with your initial bet with a total of $20. If you have reached your winning goal of $100, you can start again with your bet of $10. Just be mindful that every time you are going to lose, just go back with your initial bet.

Gone Solo Yesterday at SM City Cebu

Yesterday, I went alone to SM City Cebu to cool down. I escaped from work again and I wanted to come home late. Before going to SM, I went to Sto. Niño church. I just realized that it is nice to hear a mass with no company.

I had my solo dinner at Jonie's fried chicken. After my dinner, I bought some milkshake and potato fries. I should have gone to a massage therapist but it is so expensive inside the mall. I just pampered myself for a pedicure at Franzy Salon. I'm so happy that they already opened a branch at SM.

I went to the department store because I was planning to buy something. Since the fitting rooms were full I ended up nothing to buy. So I went to National Bookstore to buy a book.

A journal, a pen and a book

I never thought of buying a journal but I got attracted with the color like somewhat reddish or pinkish. Honestly, I have several cute notepads and notebooks that I've collected as freebies and some are recycled but I seldom write on it. Then last night, I just started to write something, mostly are my to-do's and reminders. It was on sale yesterday. I remember that a lot of people I saw on Facebook show-offed their journals and planner. I think it's not too late for me to have one. :D

Story in Every Picture - Just a Random Thought

I really don't know what to blog because as usual I've been so busy with my online job. Actually, I am totally wordless right now and I don't know what to blog. I just don't want my blog to miss a post even for a week. So here it goes:

Chocolates

They say it's normal to have a fight with the person you're in a relationship with. But the moment I knew myself I've gone no wrong, I find it tiresome. I don't want to talk to him and I don't want to see him. That's the only thing I want to do. Then the guy is going to court you again, say sorry for so many times and I just fell silent, letting my anger and disappointment to subside. Then he gives me chocolate.

Milkshakes

So mom and I went to SM City Cebu yesterday because it was so damn hot. I escaped again from work. While we were eating at the food court, the people on the table beside us we're having an extra large milkshake. Mom wanted to try it so I searched for it. You can find the stall the same floor with the Cyberzone.

Honestly, I <3 Milkshakes is a nice alternative the one you can find at Bo's Coffee, Starbucks and Krispy Kreme for a cheaper price.

Care Fairness

At last, I just received my order from Avon. I have acne problem on my face and I realized that I'm not getting any younger, I need to take care of it. I have used this since last night and then this morning. I love it and I guess I'm going to maintain this combo facial care.

He is courting me again but in our 6 years, it's my first time to receive flowers. I woke up this morning so groggy and my hair unfixed. He wiped my eyes not because I was in tears, but my eyes were full of morning glory. Hahahahaha! And I feel so beautiful that (not-so-embarrassing-getting-used-to) moment. Hehehe!

That's all for today. For being so wordless as written on the first paragraph, I just can't hold myself that there's a story in every picture. :) Woah! I just changed the blog title before posting this. O_o

Creating a Travel Blog

I successfully reformatted my netbook few nights ago using my USB. At first, I have difficulty because I guess I am not a techy person anymore. Good thing I have IT friends on Facebook. I just posted a status about it then a friend guided me using a software to make my USB a bootable device.

Last Sunday, I was able to escape from work and I tagged along my mother with me in going to SM City Cebu. Whew, just imagine working on a Sunday without an official day-off. Hehehe! Yeah, it's summer and with the hot weather, we need to beat the heat. Mom is asking me again for us to go in a resort just like what we did few weeks ago, click here.

I am planning to go to Bantayan island again and invited some friends. I have a planned date in mind and I hope my friends will confirm their schedule and budget. I can go anytime I like. I don't know if it is really a total vacation because I am now thinking of traveling while working.

Summer Escapade at Ruvi Cave Resort

Last March 12, 2013 of Tuesday, I escaped from work and went to Ruvi Cave Resort to taste the first time of summer for 2013. Since my sister had her day off that day, my mom, and I decided to have a girl-bonding on the spot.

Since summer started, it's getting hotter and we really needed to take a break and cool down. It was our first time at Ruvi Cave Resort in Tungkop, Minglanilla. It is just a town apart from Naga. For our food, we just bought junk foods, 1.5 litre of soda, apples and Jollibee 39ers.

In the morning, I just finished some of the few tasks. I have no day-off because I am so in-demand for my clients *just kidding ;).*We left home at 2PM, bought our food and arrived in the resort at almost 3PM.

Since we bought food from Jollibee, we took a tricycle ride from Minglanilla to Tungkop for PhP10.00 each person.

The resort is small. The good thing is only few people were there. It was like we owned the resort for few hours. *Tee-hee*

I could not imagine what would it look like if the resort is crowded?

Well, yeah, it was a Tuesday and it's still school time this week. We love it when there are only few people around. LOL

We fnished swimming sometime beyond 5PM, the resort has a karaoke machine so we decided to sing. We even got free songs to sing because the karaoke machine caretaker loved us to sing again and again. LOL

Got My Passport At Last!

Last March 4, 2013, my partner and I went back to Department of Foreign Affairs in Mandaue City to claim my passport. Claiming my passport was really fast. I went straight to the claiming area and gave my claim stub to the DFA personnel. I was watching Gags for Laughs on their screens they provided for the applicants then suddenly my name was called. Tada!

Got PR1 For Simple Yet Rock

Since I changed this domain to .info, my PR or Page Rank went back to zero. I remember when it was tamayorox.blogspot.com I got PR 2, then PR1, and went to 0 and back to PR1. Actually, I really didn't care about Page Rank before but it did earn me some bucks for blog advertising which I write blog posts for several websites. It wasn't bad at all because this blog helped as my online portfolio. (To understand what Page Rank is, click here).

Then I got inspired to write informative posts although I have several and random personal blog posts. Also I decided to buy a domain for this which is www.roxannetamayo.info. This is my first blog but I first bought a domain of www.fotografirox.com for my home-based business - my another online portfolio for graphic design skills. Unfortunately, I got no chance to update Fotografi Rox but business is still on going. I am just wishing that I could buy a DSLR camera to practice photography. :D

I blogged this because of superficial happiness! Hahaha! I realized that a .info domain is very slow to get some PR 1 or more. Unlike a .com with Fotografi Rox, I got PR 1 in just few months with updated posts.

Anyway, I am not really obsessed to get higher Page Rank but of course, I feel happy about it. All I love to do is to blog whatever is on my mind.

Last Saturday of February 16, 2013, I and some of my friends decided to have an xbox party. On Valentine's Day, it was Heart's birthday so we celebrated after two days while Jeaneth just finished her culinary course and I pressured her to bring food. Hahaha! There, she baked a cake. :D

Contract Signing

I really don't know what to blog because I've been emotional the past few days. Still, I have to look the brighter side of life. So, here I just printed a contract and signed it. I just need to scan and submit it to the person intended for it.

I just hope that I'll be more productive and keep myself busy in order not to be distracted with this hurtful emotion that I have. I knew I could get through this because I am a strong person.

So this post is kind of hanging, what the contract is for and the reason for the hurt is? I'll just leave it up to you though. Random blogging, it is.

Visual Graphic Design Conference Ticket

I'll just write a summary on what is happening to me within this week due to a hectic schedule of work with my online job.

The Ticket

Last Monday of February 4, 2013, at last, my ticket for the Visual Graphic Design Conference arrived. I am excited and it's two days more to go. The ticket is so cute.

Desktop Clean-up

After the ~~impulsive~~ buying of my laptop, I was able to reformat my desktop. Whew! I've been juggling with different tasks and I let my partner use it for some tasks that are easy to handle.

The Usual Routine

Well, may be you'll think that my life is kind of boring. I just stay at home facing in front of the computer, sleep, eat, take a bath, and brush my teeth. Sometimes we have this cat-dog fight with my partner. I also tend the store when there are lots of customers. I seldom meet my old friends because of the hectic schedule that I have. My forms of entertainment at home are watching tv and listening to the radio. I miss playing with my xbox.

I am just glad that I've been productive this week. ^___^

Two Brand New Laptops in Two Days

Last few days of January was really a mess regarding with my online job. My desktop computer was a pain in the ass by the time I was re-sizing a photo in Adobe Photoshop with high resolution. The moment I was going to save it, I couldn't because of the low memory of my desktop. My net book was being used by my partner for another project so I couldn't disturb him.

My desktop computer is already five years old and I'm proud to say that I've been earning from it. So I guess it's time to move on. I had no choice but to buy a laptop. Although I need to upgrade some parts of my system unit or buy another one, it's bulky in my mini office. I could not imagine having two desktop computers. Well, having a laptop is really a part of my wish list. Yes, this is a good investment.

1st Day - I got a HP laptop

The next day, it was Jan. 30, 2013, my partner and I went to SM City Cebu and searched for laptops. Just to make the story short, I purchased HP Pavilion G4. Beside HP was Lenovo and I was eyeing for it. I thought HP was a value for money because I paid for 29K with a backpack, free printer and genuine OS. At the store, it looks okay, we couldn't see any problem but when I used it at home I just found the problem.

HP Pavilion G4 - specs: i5, 4GB RAM, 650 HD

Low battery - when a charger was connected, it couldn't charge automatically. When I released the battery from the laptop while the power cord was the power source, still the laptop was like dead. The laptop needed to stand by for few minutes before it turned to be okay. Whew, it was such a hassle and I was very disappointed with HP. I thought it was a good value for money.

2nd day and onwards - Lenovo for me

January 31, 2013, my partner and I went back to the store. It took us long hours because the technician told me that there was no problem with the laptop. He never suggested to change the laptop with the same unit. I asked if I could replace it then the cashier said that I could since for her it was a factory defect. The technician never declared it as factory defect and it was really weird. But then, I opted to change it with another brand which is Lenovo because I lost my trust with HP. I added some amount because Lenovo is more expensive than HP. I only got a sling bag for this purchase.

I still need to reformat my desktop computer though and yes, I am happy with Lenovo. I could say that Lenovo is really for me. :D

Visual Graphic Design Conference in Cebu

I've been eyeing for this since last year then I had doubts about the price I've seen from the Manila conference. I just thought that 1k plus was too much and also worried for my schedule if I could go or not.

Well, I'm surprised that it turned out to be half the price. Since I am no student, I just purchased the Professional Conference Pass and took the chance for the early bird worth P400. I just purchased online with an additional P85 for the shipping. I can't go to SM City Cebu before February 2, 2013.

Okay, I'm all set-up for February 9, 2013.

Alright, I wanted to be an artist. I wanted to take Fine Arts in college but took up IT. I may not be full-blast creative and artsy right now but being an all-around freelance worker, I will learn something from this conference. I never regret taking up IT because in some way, it introduced me to graphic design (I'm no programmer type).

Passport Processing in DFA Cebu

Last Monday, I went to Department of Foreign Affairs at Pacific Mall in Mandaue City. I arrived there beyond 8AM because I thought that there were only few people after the Sinulog festival but still there were a lot. I arrived there and received no priority number.

My first time there was totally epic fail. I went back on my way, passed Cebu City Health and realized that I should get my local birth certificate although I already had my copy of NSO birth certificate. I just made sure that if ever my NSO will get rejected, the local BC will save my @$$. So then I got mine, after that I went to Sto. Niño and lastly, went to the bank to pay my credit card bill.

The next day, I decided to wake up early at 3AM. I needed to be there before 6AM because of the priority number. My boyfriend accompanied me. So as a first time applicant, here are some of the requirements I brought with me:

NSO Birth Certficate
Local Birth Certficate
Transcription of Records
Driver's License
TIN Card
Voter's Certificate

I was right, my NSO BC got rejected because the data inputs were not that clear so you really need a local BC. They say that NSO BC and at least 2 government ID's were enough as requirements. But the more requirements you will have to submit, the better.

My priority number was 180 and told me to be back at 11AM. We had our breakfast at Jollibee, just killing time and roamed around the mall. I brought my netbook with me but never got the chance to work although I saw Coffee Dream for a free Wi-Fi (only if you bought something there). We just busied ourselves chatting, munching potato fries and sipping buko shake.

It was quarter to 2PM I lined for the processing of passport. They checked my requirements and asked me if I go for regular or express. I chose regular for P950 since I am not in a hurry and the express is for P1,200.

Everything went smoothly, I paid P950 waited my name to be called, ID capture, checked the printed data if it's correct, got my receipt with a note that states I'll be back on February 27, 2013 to claim my passport. Yay!

Well, I am very excited which country to go to but I need to save money for travel. *_*

Strolling at UP Diliman

This is the continuation of my Manila Trip I had last year. So here I am blogging about University of the Philippines in Diliman. I remember that I saw old pictures of my mom and her cousins with their pictures with the Oblation monument. Warning: lots of pictures below.

My company with this trip were all former UP Cebu students and I am the only one from CIT-U (Cebu Institue of Technology - University) hehehe! The only connection I have is Claire since she was a classmate of mine in high school. We were able to meet their two friends, Sam and Kurt, who are now staying in Manila to pursue their studies and they showed us around UP Diliman.

I love the atmosphere here, jogging or biking on the nice pavement. Also, it would be nice to study here under the shade of a tree with your friends or dating with a special someone LOL.

2 Days Make-Over

1st day of make-over
It was last Sunday I decided and went to Franzy Salon for a pedicure and my very first time for manicure. I really wanted a short haircut then some colored hair but my hair is dry so I need a hair treatment. I am now planning for a long hair. I am just really impatient with my hair and I really don't care having a bad hair day.

Hoping for a beautiful long hair LOL

I got wounded on my left thumb because my skin is so thin and I realized that this will be my first and last. My skin is so sensitive. Okay, to tell you honestly, dili ko kubalon og kamot. How would I say this in English? Hahahaha! The manicurista asked me if I wash my own clothes or do some home chores and I said I don't. Anyway, I seldom wash my clothes and I avoid my hands to get wet because the whole time I am in front of the computer working. Oh, nice excuse!

2nd day of make-over

Yesterday was Monday, I went to the city and went back to Hendy Mitchel Salon and Spa for a full-body massage. I used my last voucher I've purchased from Metrodeal. I used the first three vouchers with sis and mama. I haven't blogged about it because I was busy and prepared myself going to Manila.

I have no pictures because my Samsung Galaxy Y is now busted. After the massage, I went to SM City Cebu and looked for skin care clinic so that I could have my facial cleansing. I went to Let's Face It because they have the cheap basic facial cleansing for P245. Yes, I was inside ready for the treatment, creams and everything were on my face then suddenly my face reacted. My cheeks got red and was irritated. It was my first time for the treatment then the dermatologist decided to stop. So it was cancelled.

I really have a sensitive skin and have lots of skin allergies. Tsk.
