I am gradually moving all of my recipes an cooking over to a new site. I have plans to expand the new site and include LOTS and LOTS of my tried & true recipes.

I am still keeping SimpleMommy......although I don't update often LOL! I have plans to. :)

On the home front.....2 weeks without an accident. I think it's safe to say we're potty trained now. :)

Ashleigh has been sick again. She's trying a new medicine & hopefully this helps. She's also moving to a private room in the dorms. Don't know how much that'll cost, but she needs the peace.

Life's busy with one in college, one in high school, one in kindergarten, and the 2 yo home with me. :) Hubby has work enough to pay the bills. would be nice to get some more, but we'll survive.

He's doing a good job! 2 minor accidents yesterday. The *other* went in the potty, too. :) Good for mama! LOL!

His nap yesterday, he decided he didn't want to wear pullups. OK, I guess. He's *usually* dry when he wakes up. so I let him. Went fine. Then last night....again....*insisting* he wanted the underwear. He was dry all night.

Mama is very proud. :)

That's all I've got to talk about right now, LOL!

Potty Training!

YAY! There's been a lull in the crazy life here in the Simplemommy household, so we took this opportunity to potty train the boy.

I have mixed emotions about this. :) He's my *baby*,......maybe the last one. :) I don;t want him to grow up, LOL, but yet, the idea of being done with diapers....well, that's ok with me. :) LOL!

Anyway, 3 "made its" yesterday, and 2 accidents. Not too shabby. :)

So far this morning, no accidents. :)

Encouraged indeed. :)

I really do plan on trying to get here on blogger more often. Perhaps here in a few days. :)

Busy as always. :) Things are starting to slow down, though. :)

My oldest, Ashleigh, has a procedure done on her pancreas in Denver a few weeks back. I missed sending off my kindergartner to her first day of school. Daddy recorded it for me though. :)

Then, the health insurance shot up $200 a month, and I spent a week or so trying to get better rates.

Then, Ashleigh was hospitalized again. She had stones in her pancreas this time. She was released on Sunday. She's feeling better now. Don;t know what the drs want to do next. Since she's 18 now, they talk to her more than they do me. :)

Oh, I almost forgot, I sent her off to COLLEGE, too. :) Not even a week after surgery. :) So, I don't get to see her much anymore. :)

Also, this weekend, Miss Kennedy got a fever and was sick all weekend. That's school for ya. :) Now, the baby (not so much a baby anymore...he's almost 3) and *I* got it.

I have lots of ideas for posts, LOL!, but just getting life situated is taking up my time. :) Lots of pictures to post, too, if I get to it. :)

So, anyway, that's all for now. :)

I really have a hard time getting this room all picked up and looking nice for the camera. :) So, this'll have to do. :) Imagine perfectly fluffed pillows and no dust. :)

If you know me, you know this won't stay this way for long. I am already feeling like it needs more drama. Something more dark. I *want* to get a big, round black-ish fluffy rug. It's not in the budget right now. :) Oh, and a new light. :)

Well, um, how about the mud room?

The door you see is to the garage. To the left is the little bathroom. We put in all of these cabinets & the laundry sink. The green stripey-things have hooks on them for coats. Later this year, we're installing a wall of cabinets there to store my canned goods. Ran out of money before the graduation, so it'll be a few months before I get it done. :)

This door leads out to our deck. I have the bench made on the right side. This houses our shoes. I have the fabric to make the pad for this, but I haven't gotten around to getting it done. You know me....just sitting around watching tv all day. You know how it is? :)

I think I'll hang the coats on hooks on the bare space behind this door. Not sure, though.

The door on the right goes into my kitchen. I painted chalkboard paint on the pantry door.

Here's the little bathroom & you can just barely see a shot into m laundry room. :) Should've hid the baskets. ;)

Mama bird

Mama is hard to see, but she's right in the center of the picture. She's a killdeer as far as I can tell. She just about had a litter of kittens when I happened upon her nest. Since then, she has let me close a couple of times & I got a few shots. :)

The nest is right out in the middle of the yard. Just sitting there. :)

Wonder what else is out there.

BTW, I did see a big 'ol nasty bull snake in the road out front the other day. Ew Ew EW! He was huge! {shudders}

Graduation party's over. It was a huge success. :) She had fun. We got to chat with so many people we hadn't seen in ages. Lots of food! The house was clean & looked wonderful! :)

Found out today that Miss Ashleigh does *not* have to go to see the specialist in Denver. She had an ultrasound a couple of weeks back and it showed her pancreas was normal. She's still restricted on her diet, but we're all relieved.

Got alot of my house decorated. I'll try to get some pics. :)

I wasn't crazy about the green that was there. I think I did an OK job of camouflaging it. :)

I still need to sew the curtain. We have no neighbors on this side, and the window is too high from the outside anyway. When I get some time, I'll get it done. Hopefully *before* graduation. :)

Also, I need Hubby to put up my towel bars (behind the green chair) for the bath mats.

All in all, I'm hapy with this room. :) It's very relaxing (to me anyway...donno what other people would think :) ) and I feel like it's a nice little retreat in the evenings. I'm a "bath person."

Well, I've got one room done! :) So excited about this room! I don't have any pictures hung yet. I don't really have any that I like in here. That's fine, though. It looks OK without them. :)

I tried to find some "before" before pics, but I couldn't. I thought I snapped some. But anyway. :)

All of the paint I already had, or I borrowed. I switched out the original mirror for one I used to have in my living room in my old house. I hung it low so the littles could see themselves in it. This is the main bathroom....the one the kids use the most often.

I am very happy with the results. :)

Working on the master bath now. I am just about done.

EDITED...... I did find a "before"...just one, though. :)

Hello! My garden is in. 2 yard hydrants are in. Pile-o-dirt has *grown* and the lagoon is just the way is was. :)

I'm satisfied with the progress. :)

Hopefully I'll get to load some pictures up today.

We were informed yesterday that Ashleigh *does* have to see a specialist. This one's in Denver. It looks like she needs another surgery on her pancreas. I don't know when we have to go yet. I'll find out next week.

In the meantime, my kitchen was half-way clean for about 10 minutes, so I snapped some for you. :) I wouldn't call this room "done" either, with the decorating. I am not 100% satisfied with it. It's going to have to do, though. :)

And then the cutest little boy I've ever seen.......as always, though, I seem to catch him with the binky. :)

And my girls carrying the garbage back. They're gonna love me for this. :)

I am trying to decide whether I should do raised beds.......or should I just do a big plot.

In my experience, raised beds didn't keep the weeding down.
In a big plot, I can run the little tiller between the rows.

I pretty much have an unlimited amount of land to use.

Funds for the raised beds aren't here yet, but should be available yet this spring.

Any advice?

Hubby & I went to a movie last night. I was nice to get out.
We're supposed to close on the old house this friday, :)
I am going to try to finish up a few projects around here today..............and try to get to the store.

Oh, I got Miss Kennedy's room painted yesterday. She wants me to paint *flowers* of all things on the walls, too, so I'm not done yet. :)

Miss Kennedy asked me to make her a "oranges" sweater. she calles "orange" ..."oranges"....anyway, I've never *made* a sweater. I've never made *anything* from a pattern. :) so, on my weekly grocery trip, I picked up a simple book with a vest pattern in it that I thought I could handle.

HA!

*That* would involve *thinking*.......and at this point, I don't have enough brain function to handle it.

After ripping it out 3 times, I convinced her that a *blanket* would be much better...and she could use it *forever* instead of just a sweater. wink, wink.

Anyway I got it done. :) Sitting in the hospital helped.....it gave me time to do it. It turned out quite a bit bigger than I had originally estimated. :)

I'm satisfied that I actually *finished* a project. :)

Now, maybe I'll hit the 3 unfinished quilts stashed in my closet. Realistically, though, I have lots of projects around the house that need tending.

Btw, Miss Ashleigh has asked me to make one for her now.....in her new University's colors. :) At least I have the practice. :)
