To those who are not familiar with Shellac here is a little information:

So here is the low down on exactly what Shellac is and how it works:

Shellac was developed by the nail care giant CND (Creative Nail Design) and has been in development for the past five years. The product is a cross between a hard gel (another type of mani that has become popular recently but involves filing down the whole surface of the nail, which really can’t be good for anyone’s nails, by the by!) and a polish.

The process is much like a regular manicure but requires a few extra steps. After each coat is applied (bottom coat, two coats of the shellac, and then a top coat) it is essentially dried, adhered, cured or cooked, whatever you want to call it, onto the nail via sliding your hand into a little UV light box for two minutes.

When the process is finished your nails are bright, shiny and absolutely dry a la the light box!

That means no annoying dry time and no inevitable smudging as you pay, get your keys, etc. . .

Now, my friends were an early adopter of this craze and convinced me to try it. After, the first go round it was hook line and sinker for me. I was OBSESSED! For the fist week of my Shellac manis my lovely red nails were parfait: shiny and nick free, truly miraculous!
