this is a pic of a psychopathic sex offender I helped put away in prison. I took this with my cell-phone from the back of the courtroom. He's in the blue suit conferring with his attorney. My psyche observations were read aloud in court and were a determining factor in his being put away.

I'm a hardened military veteran. I used to volunteer for some messed up stuff and I loved a good "engagement" and thrived on adrenaline (now I'm a soft dad and husband). Not much bothers me.

But this guy - even though I'd sat through therapy with him for over a year - this guy - when he turned around and leered at the court room to show he wasn't going to be intimidated - never in my life has my blood ran cold and I got the creeps and felt my heart shudder when I realized what this guy *really* was getting ready to do and was capable of ....and we were stopping him before he got the chance.

He was very - VERY - good at what he did in terms of manipulating others and he played that courtroom and the judge like a fiddle.

Anyways - just a cell-phone pic. I don't think this violates anything as you could take pics in the courtroom and I'm not posting his name or anything.

Today I got invited to speak at Portland State University in the near future as a representative/veteran of the US Military on my experiences in Guantanamo and the psychology and ethics of interrogation procedures. I'm kind of stoked because a) the military doesn't often get this chance and b) in an academic setting I have the ability to walk past stereotypes and draw people in and show them something new from the military perspective that they haven't considered.

Oregon: All Gun Bills Declared Dead on Arrival by
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman

In today's state Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Senate Bills 1550, 1551 and 1574, Chairman Floyd Prozanski (D-4) opened by declaring that all gun-related bills brought forward in the 2012 short legislative session would not advance through his committee. That leaves the fate of

NRA-supported House Bill 4045, a Concealed Handgun License (CHL) confidentiality measure, in jeopardy should it advance beyond the House floor vote next week, since it will be assigned to this committee. Today, HB 4045, sponsored by state Representative Kim Thatcher (R-25), passed in the House Judiciary Committee work session by a 7 to 3 vote.

According to state Senate Judiciary Chairman Prozanski, the House Judiciary Co-Chairmen, state Representatives Wayne Krieger (R-1) and Jeff Barker (D-28), would not commit to advancing any of the Senate's gun bills, so for all intents and purposes, Prozanski declared all of the pro- and anti-gun bills dead. The NRA was subsequently informed that the real issue on Prozanski’s part was that during the course of the House Judiciary Committee hearing on HB 4045, the House committee would not approve amendments proposed by state Senator Ginny Burdick (D-18), which would have placed the CHL information under the Public Records Law, something the committee was trying to avoid.

State Senator Prozanski's SB 1574 and both of state Senator Burdick's measures, SB 1550 and 1551 (please see our previous alert), pertaining to carrying firearms in on schools grounds and in public buildings, already faced hefty uphill battles in the state House. SB 1574 was especially problematic and, despite amendments offered to supposedly "fix" some of the issues with it, the NRA maintained its opposition on the grounds that the measure still could adversely affect law-abiding permit holders traveling through Oregon.

I don't know if I shared the story before in my blog - but anyways - something like this did in fact happen with me between me and the Japanese Mafia. It was about a twelve mile chase through the middle of a city as the sun arose and as far as I can tell there may have been at least one casualty but I didn't look back to see if he survived. When we finally ended up in a standoff it was me in uniform but unarmed outnumbered and as I looked around this giant intersection for someone to help me - even the police - nobody moved - everyone was just going to watch the white boy go down. Fortunately God blessed me with brains and the ability to think quick and some awesome military training and I know a car can be used as a weapon as well if you're unarmed and they are fully armed......either way - when I watch this it brings back some memories of that chase and one other one where I was chased and a few others where I was doing the chasing. I just enjoy it. Nothing new - I just enjoy it and laugh a bit.

My friends and dear readers - in your lifetimes you are going to see our Constitution on the brink of overthrow and it will be because of corruption like this.

Our constitution can withstand a lot of things - but it can't / won't / wasn't designed to hold up if the people who are charged with protecting it are corrupt.

Want to save the constitution? My advice? Start in your own personal life by being honest, having integrity and doing what's right and spread it from there. We don't need to re-invent an entire government and country when the main issue is just personal integrity - but they are going to try to tell you we need to and that they need more control. Nuh-uh. I don't think so. They need less control of us and more control of themselves.

Lets Not Confuse (Books I've Read)

I've started reading a book by Adam Carolla "In Fifty Years We'll All Be Chicks" and Adam Carolla is totally fricking HILARIOUS. He articulates the obvious stupidity of our society way better than about anyone I've read. I got the book for my birthday from my brother in law James Johnston (who's name is now on the world wide web - here ya go James, you're famous now!) and I was about to die laughing on his section about how stupid the mentality of racism is.

For example, the highest paid TV personality (Oprah) is black, the president is black, the highest paid actor is black (Will Smith) the highest paid singer is black (Beyonce) and the highest paid athlete (pre-divorce) is black (Tiger Woods) and the highest paid and endorsed athletes are black (Michael Jordan - etc.). He then asked if we compared our society to the Dr. Seuss Sneeches where 90% of the sneeches were white, and 10% black and the overwhelmingly white ones voted for a black Sneech - how the hell racist can they possibly be as a society?

Anyways - the part I loved was where he talks about not confusing being a butthole douchebag with being racist. Cops, for example, are butt-holes to everyone. Not just blacks or whoever. But the way our society is run - if a cop is a butthole to me (and I have been a butthole to people when I was a cop) it's because the cop is a butthole - but if he's a butthole to a black man - it's automatically because he's racist. Not a butthole.

Maybe some people are just buttholes? Maybe people are so butthole-ish that they don't realize you're not supposed to be a butthole to anyone who's not their exact same color.

What about a dad - a black dad who adopts a white son - and then whatever - does that mean the dad's a butthole or racist?

Anyways - just a thought and a laugh. The book is hilarious and well worth whatever you pay for it. Great bathroom reader. Rated R for profanity but if you have the ability to bleep it out in your mind or when you read out loud - good book.

I'm a believer in the do-it-yourself mantra. You don't need Obama's green czars to tell you how to do things - do it yourself. Heck, I built a hydrogen generator on my van - I like what this guy did. That and I used to be a very avid cyclist - I think I did at least 250,000 miles on a bike before I got married easily.

appear, not even his attorney. This was not covered by any major news
media. This is a significant event in our country's history and what
it represents for us as a nation is explained below. It makes no

Fellow Constitutionalists,
One of my earliest childhood memories is of my parents talking about
Nixon and the Watergate scandal. I remember the newspaper headline:
“Nixon Resigns!” President Nixon’s fight against court subpoenas made
international news. Yesterday President Obama completely ignored a
court subpoena, and the world shrugged.
Obama’s behavior yesterday is even more disturbing than Nixon’s. Nixon
at least respected the judicial branch enough to have his attorney’s
show up in court and follow procedure. Nixon’s fight in the courts
followed existing law. Nixon acknowledged the authority of the
judicial branch even while he fought it. Obama, on the other hand,
essentially said yesterday that the judicial branch has no power over
him. He ordered his attorneys to stay away from the hearing. He didn’t
petition a higher court in a legitimate attempt to stay the hearing.
Instead he showed complete contempt for the entire judicial branch and
for the rule of law. Rather than respecting the legal process Obama
went around the courts and tried to put political pressure directly on
the Georgia Secretary of State. When that failed, he simply ignored
the judicial branch completely.
The rule of law, and our three-branch system of government, now hang
in the balance. If the Georgia court issues a ruling on the merits and
an order finding Obama in contempt of court, and if that contempt
order actually results in real punishment of some kind, then we will
still have a Constitutional Republic. If this doesn’t happen, then
Obama will have been rewarded for showing complete contempt for the
judicial branch.
Understand that the goal of the Georgia ballot challenge was to have a
court rule on the merits of the Constitutional question: Does the term
“natural born citizen” in Article II of the Constitution, require a
Presidential candidate to have two parents that were U.S. citizens at
the time the candidate was born? Obama wants to avoid having a court
rule on this question. That is why he didn’t show up and ordered his
attorneys to not show up. He was hoping that the Georgia court would
enter a default judgment rather than rule on the merits. If the court
enters a default judgment, Obama will have succeeded in avoiding the
Constitutional eligibility question. He will then appeal the default
judgment, get the appellate court to suspend the default judgment
pending appeal, and then delay the appeal until after the primary.
This is undoubtedly Obama’s plan.
If the Georgia Court rules that Supreme Court precedent must be
followed and therefore Obama simply does not meet the minimum
Constitutional requirements to hold the office of President, then we
will at least have succeeded in finding one court in the nation
willing to do its job. If that court finds Obama in contempt of court,
then we still have three viable branches of government. The Georgia
court has the authority to do both of these things. The world should
be holding its breath.
Unfortunately the world is apparently unaware that a great Republic is
on life support. The Roman Empire died a slow death. It’s death was so
gradual that few people living at that time probably noticed the
individual events that marked the death throes of that great empire.
Apparently the same is true of America. Yesterday marked a stunning
turn of events in the constant power struggle between the three
branches of our government. Our President openly showed that he
believes he is completely above the law. I wonder if the court even
noticed its own death certificate. We will see in a few days.
I will certainly try to explain this to the court in our proposed
findings of fact and law that the court requested we file before
February 5th.
All of your encouragement and prayers have been greatly appreciated.
They are needed even more over the next few weeks. This battle is FAR
from over. And it has taken on importance beyond what we predicted
(which is truly astounding). Please tell everyone you know about
Obama’s contempt of the judicial branch. Please explain to them what
it really means. Even those that agree with Obama politically and
disagree with our ballot challenge should be shocked, appalled, and
scared of Obama’s contempt for the judicial system.

I think it is really telling that here it is, 2012 and only the Republicans are going to challenge Obama for the presidential bid in the primaries to be the nominee. If you got to Wikipedia you can see that Obama is running against himself as the only candidate in the Democrat primaries. While one might think this makes him certain to win,I have to disagree. You see, in order for him to win against himself, he also has to lose to himself. A natural born loser....guaranteed to lose.

Anyways, I think it is telling with the smashup communist job this guy is doing that since no other Democrat is going to challenge him for the position - that means he's doing exactly what Democrats think should be done! I don't hear any democrats saying "Yeah, I wish he hadn't...." - he's right on track with what they think. This is what Democrats want. This is their vision for America.

Not to pop my own balloon here, but in law enforcement I saw too much too bad with affairs that I don't believe anyone wins in those or are smart. One of my first nights to a "domestic" - it was a woman whose husband had cheated on her, I entered the house and had a turkey platter shatter against the wall two inches in front of my face as soon as I was in the door, it came from the left side, could have seriously injured me and taken me out. Yeah, I know - turkey platter - not as glamorous as a car-bomb or a gun-shot or a round-house to the face by Chuck Norris but it will eff you up permanently if not kill you or at the very least leave a mark and take you out for the evening and give you a wanging headache. Then the woman attacked me with a butcher knife and went past me, I managed to get out of the way and not shoot her or anything as I was still recovering a bit from the shock of almost being 'brained' by a turkey platter, and she went into the front yard and began attacking the bushes with the butcher knife before we got her subdued....I hated infidelity....and now on that hilarious note, on to the funny chart below!

Alternate Movie Endings: late night thoughts

I was watching some movie with the Red Baron this evening...the recent one that came out. Anyways, spoiler alert - Germany loses the war and the Red Baron gets killed.

So, here we got this totally kickass pilot who's cocky, sure, etc. and.....we kill him.

I know that's what happened in REAL history, but why's it gotta be THAT way?

I mean, movies are all the same in this regards, aren't they? Follow history? A little embellishing here and there to make the story but otherwise accurate?

So - why not pull an "Idiocracy" and make up our own ending?

(Like how the U.N. (Prounounced "un") un-nazi'd the world? )

Here this guy's got a sweet girlfriend who's a nurse and he predictably dies in battle leaving her to visit his grave....and Germany loses the war despite his kickass flying skills.

But howabout this, he teaches them all new flying, turns the war around, keeps the girl, has babies with her, keeps Hitler from arising because Germany had nothing to gripe about after the loss of world war one, and he lives out his days working with Howard Hughes teaching their kids how to fly and inventing sweet ultralights and they decide they hate flying and decide to become lion tamers and teach lions to fly or something bizarre that makes you watch just out of morbid curiosity......

I mean, if you know history, you know how it ends - but why not a surprise ending? Why not? I just want to see it once and not in a comedy movie like Kung Pow. I just want to see them throw some weird ending in that's just made up or some completely nonsensical scene.....just once.....have some guts, sacrifice the Oscar which hardly anyone wins anyways and do what's never been done.....

That's just me thinking.

                             SUMMARY
 
The following summary is not prepared by the sponsors of the
measure and is not a part of the body thereof subject to
consideration by the Legislative Assembly. It is an editor's
brief statement of the essential features of the measure as
introduced.
 
  Authorizes person applying for concealed handgun license to
limit ability of public body to disclose records or information
that identifies person as applicant for, or holder of, concealed
handgun license.
  Declares emergency, effective on passage.
 
                        A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to the public disclosure of concealed handgun license
  information; creating new provisions; amending ORS 166.291; and
  declaring an emergency.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
  SECTION 1.  { + If an applicant for a concealed handgun license
requests confidentiality in accordance with ORS 166.291 (4), a
public body as defined in ORS 192.410 may not disclose records or
information that identifies the person as a current or former
applicant for, or holder of, a concealed handgun license, unless:
  (1) The disclosure is made to another public body and is
necessary for criminal justice purposes;
  (2) A court enters an order in a criminal or civil case
directing the public body to disclose the records or information;
or
  (3) The holder of, or applicant for, the concealed handgun
license consents to the disclosure in writing. + }
  SECTION 2. ORS 166.291 is amended to read:
  166.291. (1) The sheriff of a county, upon a person's
application for an Oregon concealed handgun license, upon receipt
of the appropriate fees and after compliance with the procedures
set out in this section, shall issue the person a concealed
handgun license if the person:
  (a)(A) Is a citizen of the United States; or
  (B) Is a legal resident alien who can document continuous
residency in the county for at least six months and has declared
in writing to the United States Citizenship and Immigration
Services the intent to acquire citizenship status and can present
proof of the written declaration to the sheriff at the time of
application for the license;
  (b) Is at least 21 years of age;
  (c) Is a resident of the county;
  (d) Has no outstanding warrants for arrest;
  (e) Is not free on any form of pretrial release;
  (f) Demonstrates competence with a handgun by any one of the
following:
  (A) Completion of any hunter education or hunter safety course
approved by the State Department of Fish and Wildlife or a
similar agency of another state if handgun safety was a component
of the course;
  (B) Completion of any National Rifle Association firearms
safety or training course if handgun safety was a component of
the course;
  (C) Completion of any firearms safety or training course or
class available to the general public offered by law enforcement,
community college, or private or public institution or
organization or firearms training school utilizing instructors
certified by the National Rifle Association or a law enforcement
agency if handgun safety was a component of the course;
  (D) Completion of any law enforcement firearms safety or
training course or class offered for security guards,
investigators, reserve law enforcement officers or any other law
enforcement officers if handgun safety was a component of the
course;
  (E) Presents evidence of equivalent experience with a handgun
through participation in organized shooting competition or
military service;
  (F) Is licensed or has been licensed to carry a firearm in this
state, unless the license has been revoked; or
  (G) Completion of any firearms training or safety course or
class conducted by a firearms instructor certified by a law
enforcement agency or the National Rifle Association if handgun
safety was a component of the course;
  (g) Has never been convicted of a felony or found guilty,
except for insanity under ORS 161.295, of a felony;
  (h) Has not been convicted of a misdemeanor or found guilty,
except for insanity under ORS 161.295, of a misdemeanor within
the four years prior to the application;
  (i) Has not been committed to the Oregon Health Authority under
ORS 426.130;
  (j) Has not been found to be mentally ill and is not subject to
an order under ORS 426.130 that the person be prohibited from
purchasing or possessing a firearm as a result of that mental
illness;
  (k) Has been discharged from the jurisdiction of the juvenile
court for more than four years if, while a minor, the person was
found to be within the jurisdiction of the juvenile court for
having committed an act that, if committed by an adult, would
constitute a felony or a misdemeanor involving violence, as
defined in ORS 166.470;
  (L) Has not been convicted of an offense involving controlled
substances or participated in a court-supervised drug diversion
program, except this disability does not operate to exclude a
person if:
  (A) The person has been convicted only once of violating ORS
475.864 (3) and has not completed a court-supervised drug
diversion program under ORS 135.907; or
  (B) The person has completed a court-supervised drug diversion
program under ORS 135.907 and has not been convicted of violating
ORS 475.864 (3);
  (m) Is not subject to a citation issued under ORS 163.735 or an
order issued under ORS 30.866, 107.700 to 107.735 or 163.738;
  (n) Has not received a dishonorable discharge from the Armed
Forces of the United States; and
  (o) Is not required to register as a sex offender in any state.
  (2) A person who has been granted relief under ORS 166.274 or
166.293 or section 5, chapter 826, Oregon Laws 2009, or 18 U.S.C.
925(c) or has had the person's record expunged under the laws of
this state or equivalent laws of other jurisdictions is not
subject to the disabilities in subsection (1)(g) to (L) of this
section.
  (3) Before the sheriff may issue a license:
  (a) The application must state the applicant's legal name,
current address and telephone number, date and place of birth,
hair and eye color and height and weight. The application must
also list the applicant's residence address or addresses for the
previous three years. The application must contain a statement by
the applicant that the applicant meets the requirements of
subsection (1) of this section. The application may include the
Social Security number of the applicant if the applicant
voluntarily provides this number. The application must be signed
by the applicant.
  (b) The applicant must submit to fingerprinting and
photographing by the sheriff. The sheriff shall fingerprint and
photograph the applicant and shall conduct any investigation
necessary to corroborate the requirements listed under subsection
(1) of this section. If a nationwide criminal records check is
necessary, the sheriff shall request the Department of State
Police to conduct the check, including fingerprint
identification, through the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The
Federal Bureau of Investigation shall return the fingerprint
cards used to conduct the criminal records check and may not keep
any record of the fingerprints. The Department of State Police
shall report the results of the fingerprint-based criminal
records check to the sheriff. The Department of State Police
shall also furnish the sheriff with any information about the
applicant that the Department of State Police may have in its
possession including, but not limited to, manual or computerized
criminal offender information.
  (4) Application forms for concealed handgun licenses shall be
supplied by the sheriff upon request. The forms shall be uniform
throughout this state in substantially the following form:

  (5)(a) Fees for concealed handgun licenses are:
  (A) $15 to the Department of State Police for conducting the
fingerprint check of the applicant.
  (B) $50 to the sheriff for the issuance or renewal of a
concealed handgun license.
  (C) $15 to the sheriff for the duplication of a license because
of loss or change of address.
  (b) The sheriff may enter into an agreement with the Department
of Transportation to produce the concealed handgun license.
  (6) No civil or criminal liability shall attach to the sheriff
or any authorized representative engaged in the receipt and
review of, or an investigation connected with, any application
for, or in the issuance, denial or revocation of, any license
under ORS 166.291 to 166.295 as a result of the lawful
performance of duties under those sections.
  (7) Immediately upon acceptance of an application for a
concealed handgun license, the sheriff shall enter the
applicant's name into the Law Enforcement Data System indicating
that the person is an applicant for a concealed handgun license
or is a license holder.
  (8) The county sheriff may waive the residency requirement in
subsection (1)(c) of this section for a resident of a contiguous
state who has a compelling business interest or other legitimate
demonstrated need.
  (9) For purposes of subsection (1)(c) of this section, a person
is a resident of a county if the person:
  (a) Has a current Oregon driver license issued to the person
showing a residence address in the county;
  (b) Is registered to vote in the county and has a memorandum
card issued to the person under ORS 247.181 showing a residence
address in the county;
  (c) Has documentation showing that the person currently leases
or owns real property in the county; or
  (d) Has documentation showing that the person filed an Oregon
tax return for the most recent tax year showing a residence
address in the county.
  SECTION 3. ORS 166.291, as amended by section 10, chapter 826,
Oregon Laws 2009, and section 34, chapter 547, Oregon Laws 2011,
is amended to read:
  166.291. (1) The sheriff of a county, upon a person's
application for an Oregon concealed handgun license, upon receipt
of the appropriate fees and after compliance with the procedures
set out in this section, shall issue the person a concealed
handgun license if the person:
  (a)(A) Is a citizen of the United States; or
  (B) Is a legal resident alien who can document continuous
residency in the county for at least six months and has declared
in writing to the United States Citizenship and Immigration
Services the intent to acquire citizenship status and can present
 
proof of the written declaration to the sheriff at the time of
application for the license;
  (b) Is at least 21 years of age;
  (c) Is a resident of the county;
  (d) Has no outstanding warrants for arrest;
  (e) Is not free on any form of pretrial release;
  (f) Demonstrates competence with a handgun by any one of the
following:
  (A) Completion of any hunter education or hunter safety course
approved by the State Department of Fish and Wildlife or a
similar agency of another state if handgun safety was a component
of the course;
  (B) Completion of any National Rifle Association firearms
safety or training course if handgun safety was a component of
the course;
  (C) Completion of any firearms safety or training course or
class available to the general public offered by law enforcement,
community college, or private or public institution or
organization or firearms training school utilizing instructors
certified by the National Rifle Association or a law enforcement
agency if handgun safety was a component of the course;
  (D) Completion of any law enforcement firearms safety or
training course or class offered for security guards,
investigators, reserve law enforcement officers or any other law
enforcement officers if handgun safety was a component of the
course;
  (E) Presents evidence of equivalent experience with a handgun
through participation in organized shooting competition or
military service;
  (F) Is licensed or has been licensed to carry a firearm in this
state, unless the license has been revoked; or
  (G) Completion of any firearms training or safety course or
class conducted by a firearms instructor certified by a law
enforcement agency or the National Rifle Association if handgun
safety was a component of the course;
  (g) Has never been convicted of a felony or found guilty,
except for insanity under ORS 161.295, of a felony;
  (h) Has not been convicted of a misdemeanor or found guilty,
except for insanity under ORS 161.295, of a misdemeanor within
the four years prior to the application;
  (i) Has not been committed to the Oregon Health Authority under
ORS 426.130;
  (j) Has not been found to be mentally ill and is not subject to
an order under ORS 426.130 that the person be prohibited from
purchasing or possessing a firearm as a result of that mental
illness;
  (k) Has been discharged from the jurisdiction of the juvenile
court for more than four years if, while a minor, the person was
found to be within the jurisdiction of the juvenile court for
having committed an act that, if committed by an adult, would
constitute a felony or a misdemeanor involving violence, as
defined in ORS 166.470;
  (L) Has not been convicted of an offense involving controlled
substances or participated in a court-supervised drug diversion
program, except this disability does not operate to exclude a
person if:
  (A) The person has been convicted only once of violating ORS
475.864 (3) and has not completed a court-supervised drug
diversion program under ORS 135.907; or
  (B) The person has completed a court-supervised drug diversion
program under ORS 135.907 and has not been convicted of violating
ORS 475.864 (3);
  (m) Is not subject to a citation issued under ORS 163.735 or an
order issued under ORS 30.866, 107.700 to 107.735 or 163.738;
  (n) Has not received a dishonorable discharge from the Armed
Forces of the United States; and
  (o) Is not required to register as a sex offender in any state.
  (2) A person who has been granted relief under ORS 166.274 or
166.293 or 18 U.S.C. 925(c) or has had the person's record
expunged under the laws of this state or equivalent laws of other
jurisdictions is not subject to the disabilities in subsection
(1)(g) to (L) of this section.
  (3) Before the sheriff may issue a license:
  (a) The application must state the applicant's legal name,
current address and telephone number, date and place of birth,
hair and eye color and height and weight. The application must
also list the applicant's residence address or addresses for the
previous three years. The application must contain a statement by
the applicant that the applicant meets the requirements of
subsection (1) of this section. The application may include the
Social Security number of the applicant if the applicant
voluntarily provides this number. The application must be signed
by the applicant.
  (b) The applicant must submit to fingerprinting and
photographing by the sheriff. The sheriff shall fingerprint and
photograph the applicant and shall conduct any investigation
necessary to corroborate the requirements listed under subsection
(1) of this section. If a nationwide criminal records check is
necessary, the sheriff shall request the Department of State
Police to conduct the check, including fingerprint
identification, through the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The
Federal Bureau of Investigation shall return the fingerprint
cards used to conduct the criminal records check and may not keep
any record of the fingerprints. The Department of State Police
shall report the results of the fingerprint-based criminal
records check to the sheriff. The Department of State Police
shall also furnish the sheriff with any information about the
applicant that the Department of State Police may have in its
possession including, but not limited to, manual or computerized
criminal offender information.
  (4) Application forms for concealed handgun licenses shall be
supplied by the sheriff upon request. The forms shall be uniform
throughout this state in substantially the following form:

mentally ill and presently subject to an order prohibiting me

application in any way manifests an intent to exempt the
application or license, or information contained in the
application or license, from public disclosure, including by
indicating that the applicant has applied for a concealed handgun
license for security or safety reasons. + }

preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency
is declared to exist, and this 2012 Act takes effect on its

On my way home from the second job I've taken for the extra holiday ca$h I need, I stopped at Taco Bell for a quick bite to eat. In my billfold is a $50 bill and a $2 bill. That is all of the cash I have on my person. I figure that with a $2 bill, I can get something to eat and not have to worry about people getting upset at me.
ME: ``Hi, I'd like one seven layer burrito please, to go.''
IT: ``Is that it?''
ME: ``Yep.''
IT: ``That'll be $1.04, eat here?''
ME: ``No, it's to go.'' [I hate effort duplication.]
At his point I open my billfold and hand him the $2 bill. He looks at it kind of funny and
IT: ``Uh, hang on a sec, I'll be right back.''
He goes to talk to his manager, who is still within earshot. The following conversation occurs between the two of them.
IT: ``Hey, you ever see a $2 bill?''
MG: ``No. A what?''
IT: ``A $2 bill. This guy just gave it to me.''
MG: ``Ask for something else, there's no such thing as a $2 bill.''
IT: ``Yeah, thought so.''
He comes back to me and says
IT: ``We don't take these. Do you have anything else?''
ME: ``Just this fifty. You don't take $2 bills? Why?''
IT: ``I don't know.''
ME: ``See here where it says legal tender?''
IT: ``Yeah.''
ME: ``So, shouldn't you take it?''
IT: ``Well, hang on a sec.''
He goes back to his manager who is watching me like I'm going to shoplift, and
IT: ``He says I have to take it.''
MG: ``Doesn't he have anything else?''
IT: ``Yeah, a fifty. I'll get it and you can open the safe and get change.''
MG: ``I'm not opening the safe with him in here.''
IT: ``What should I do?''
MG: ``Tell him to come back later when he has real money.''

IT: ``No way, this is weird, I'm going in back.''

The manager approaches me and says
MG: ``Sorry, we don't take big bills this time of night.'' [it was 8pm and this particular Taco Bell is in a well lighted indoor mall with 100 other stores.]
ME: ``Well, here's a two.''
MG: ``We don't take those either.''
ME: ``Why not?''
MG: ``I think you know why.''
ME: ``No really, tell me, why?''
MG: ``Please leave before I call mall security.''
ME: ``Excuse me?''
MG: ``Please leave before I call mall security.''
ME: ``What for?''
MG: ``Please, sir.''
ME: ``Uh, go ahead, call them.''
MG: ``Would you please just leave?''
ME: ``No.''
MG: ``Fine, have it your way then.''

At this point he backs away from me and calls mall security on the phone around the corner. I have two people staring at me from the dining area, and I begin laughing out loud, just for effect. A few minutes later this 45 year oldish guy comes in and says [at the other end of counter, in a whisper]
SG: ``Yeah, Mike, what's up?''
MG: ``This guy is trying to give me some [pause] funny money.''
SG: ``Really? What?''
MG: ``Get this, a two dollar bill.''
SG: ``Why would a guy fake a $2 bill?'' [incredulous]
MG: ``I don't know? He's kinda weird. Says the only other thing he has is a fifty.''
SG: ``So, the fifty's fake?''
MG: ``No, the $2 is.''
SG: ``Why would he fake a $2 bill?''
MG: ``I don't know. Can you talk to him, and get him out of here?''
SG: ``Yeah...''

Security guard walks over to me and says
SG: ``Mike here tells me you have some fake bills you're trying to use.''
ME: ``Uh, no.''
SG: ``Lemme see 'em.''
ME: ``Why?''
SG: ``Do you want me to get the cops in here?''
At this point I was ready to say, ``SURE, PLEASE,'' but I wanted to eat, so I said
ME: ``I'm just trying to buy a burrito and pay for it with this $2 bill.''
I put the bill up near his face, and he flinches like I was taking a swing at him. He takes the bill, turns it over a few times in his hands, and says
SG: ``Mike, what's wrong with this bill?''
MG: ``It's fake.''
SG: ``It doesn't look fake to me.''
MG: ``But it's a $2 bill.''
SG: ``Yeah?''
MG: ``Well, there's no such thing, is there?''
The security guard and I both looked at him like he was an idiot, and it dawned on the guy that he had no clue.
My burrito was free and he threw in a small drink and those cinnamon things, too. Makes me want to get a whole stack of $2 bills just to see what happens when I try to buy stuff. If I got the right group of people, I could probably end up in jail. At least I'd get free food.
