Donut Bun

Wear it sleek and neat for work, messy and casual for school or make its dressy for a special occasion. The donut bun is so simple and can be used for going any where or even just to look cute when your having a lazy day.

So for this basic donut bun you will need:
2x elastics/bobbins
Donut
Bobby Pins.

Before you start you need to make two decisions, the first one is where do you want to have the bun? Low at the back of your head, up high to show it off, neat in the centre, or change it up by having it to the side.
The next decision is how big you want the bun or which size will work in your hair length. Keep in mind that sometimes even with long hair it may not be thick enough to cover a donut. Another thing to remember is that a tiny bun on the top of your ahead or a huge bun to the side could look silly and who wants that!?

Now let's get started!
1. Tie hair up in a ponytail in the area you decided on keeping it combed and neat to keep the look neat. If your prone to headaches my advice is to leave it a little loose, you don't want to have to take it all down halfway through the day.

2. Place your selected donut on by pulling all your hair through the centre.

3. Tilt your head slightly so the hair falls around the donut to cover it like in the picture below and use the second elastic to keep the hair in place.

4. Now you will have hair fanning out around the bun that needs to be hidden and this is where you need the bobby pins. Take a small section of the hair and twist it around the bun to cover the elastic. Do this with all the loose hair until it's all pinned out of the way.

5. Keep this look in place with product. Spray wax or hairspray can keep those flyaway hairs down and hold your new look.

Tip: leave some strands out around your face to soften this look.

How to: Braid

Creating a braid can look confusing!

but...
When you break it down its simple. Growing up I seen girls with fancy braids and just wished I could do them too. I went a long time not asking anyone to show me because I had this crazy idea that these girly things are meant to come naturally. However now that I have a little sister I've realised it's all learnt from your big sister.
So for those like me with no big sister or if you do and she's the always too busy type here is my step by step guide to a basic braid.

What you will need:
Comb or brush
Small hair elastic
Patience

1. Brush through hair to free any knots for a smoother braid. Take section of hair that you want to braid whether it's one small section or all your hair.

2. Divide your section into three by simply sticking two fingers up through the section.

3. Now take an outside section from either side, in picture below I started from the right. Bring the section into the centre of the other two.
So the one outside section crosses over the middle section.

4. If you started with the outside section on the right like I have then next you take the section from the left outside and cross over the center section.

5. Continue this again from the right section over the center and so on...

Note: Take your time crossing the sections, it can be frustrating the first, second aaaand third time of trying this but you will get it!
Tip: Section slowly and keep tight grip to get a neat and even braid.
