As parents, we spend a lot of time teaching and preparing our kids for life. And that’s a good thing. But when they’re grown and on their own, they probably won’t remember most of what we said.

They’ll remember when we showed up to their games and recitals. They’ll remember the ice cream runs, coffee dates, and burgers after a tough day. They’ll remember the late nights we spent listening, the times we held them as they cried, and the moments we celebrated their achivements.

They talk about how their parents believed in them, loved them, and were there for them

Your kids won’t remember everything you told them but they’ll always remember how you were present for them.

They may be the very thing God uses to help someone walking through the valley you’ve already traveled.

Be the guide you needed when you were finding your way

In John 14, Jesus said that our love for others is how we prove to the world that we’re His disciples.

A great question to ask yourself on a regular basis is, “Am I a more loving person than I was a month ago? A year ago?”

Theology, doctrine, and all that is important, but it’s not the measuring stick for spiritual growth. Love is.

When Jesus tells you something about yourself, believe Him—especially when it’s something you wish weren’t true.

He brings those hard realities to the surface so we can deal with the spot before the infection spreads too deep to treat.

You can’t change what you refuse to admit.

In Genesis 26, Isaac and Abimelek disagreed over several wells in the land they occupied. Isaac could have fought over them—but instead he trusted God to provide another one.

Not every mistake needs to be corrected.
Not every opinion needs to be voiced.
Not every argument needs to be continued.

Sometimes wisdom means letting the issue go.

Few things soothe the soul like being truly heard.

A listening ear can do more for a hurting heart than a thousand well-intended words.

Sometimes the greatest comfort you can offer is silence and your undivided attention.
