New Cool Feature at Entrecard

You know Entrecard, right? If you don't, maybe you live under the rocks. :) Come on, no joking on this.

I just got great news that Entrecard just released its new cool feature: the ability to add more than one blog to an account.

By this cool feature now you can just add all of your blogs to Entrecard simply by going to your Dashboard and clicking “Linked Blogs” in your Dashboard navigation. So easy, guys.

You will be able to choose whether to link your account with another existing account, or to register a new blog with Entrecard, and automatically link it to your account.

You can also switch from one blog to another, and drop or advertise as either one, from the very top right of your Entrecard screen. Where your email address is displayed there will be a link to “switch” to another account of yours.

And if you wanna get some free credits from Entrecard, add just one more blog to your account, and you’re automatically entered to win 15,000 credits! Why not just add your blogs now? :)

Q: What do you think about non-English blogs in general?

A: I only know English (some may say I don't even know that ;) ) but looking at the amount of trackbacks I get from non-english blogs which seem to be very content rich, I think they are doing really well.

Q: Do you think non-English blogs have good prospect in the online business realm?

A: Without a doubt. Right now is a great time for non-english blogs to establish themselves in the space. The reason now is so important is because there is not that many global advertisers yet so there is not much motivation for your competition to be the authority. Its kind of like how it was a long time ago for english speaking blogs. When people did it out of passion and not out of profit. Then when advertisers came around they were established. I think this will happen with many non-english blogs as well.

Q: What are the most advantages of non-English blogs compared with English blogs in the online business realm?

A: Mostly the fact that its such a untaped resource. The English market is very saturated in almost any profitable niche.

Q: What are the obstacles or constraints?

A: I think the obstacles and constraints are pretty standard english or non-english. One of the great things bout todays world is it really does not matter where you are located. Especially for a blog. If you are connecting with people eventually you will build readership (in whatever language). Money will eventually follow.

Q: What opportunities are mostly suit for non-English blogs?

A: eBay has affiliate programs for over 15 countries. You are also starting to see non-english dating sites popup all over the world. I think the dating and mobile industry will be big up and coming inches in non-english speaking areas.

Q: What niche theme mostly fit for non-English blogs?

A: I would venture technology and industry news. Politics seems to be a hotbed but I just do not see that being very profitable.

Q: While most online ads are in English, what are the non-English blogs have to do to get the cake?

A: I think non-english blogs have a nice advantage that they can learn from where english only bloggers have failed. Also they can pretty easily also have translated versions of their website into English. I think a lot of English blogs will be translating their content more as the non-english bloggers enter the market.

Q: Among these programs: PPC Ads, Affiliate Programs, Independent Ads - which one will give more opportunity for non-English blogs?

A: I would say using something like the Rubicon Project would be key. They will automatically geo target (show ads based on ip) for your customers. This means a person coming from mexico will only see offers they can use... maybe people from the us only see adsense. It will full optimize your global campaign.

Q: Do you think non-English speaker bloggers should push themselves to write post in English?

A: I think if the site wants to move more into a "news" site and has the budget for it then yes. If its a blog and its a subject the author is passionate about then I would just write in non-english and see where it goes. I see a lot of english sites that translate do very well with search traffic though. Its defiantly something that should be tested.

Q: Do you have or may consider running any new project specifically address for non-English blogs?

A: Not specifically for blogs. I have had several people offer to translate my content in other languages but at this point I just do not think its worth it.

Q: What's your advice for non-English speaker bloggers in order to keep survive in the online business realm?

A: Stay at it. Establish your self as an authority and build readership.

Q: One word about blogging in 2008?

A: Political

Q: What do you think about non-English blogs in general?

A: It doesn't matter what language your blog is in, as long as you get readers for it. Blogging without readers is like milk without cookies. :)

Q: Do you think non-English blogs have good prospect in the online business realm?

A: As far as online business goes, the international language of business is English and you will limit yourself by seeking out a non-English speaking market. Having said that, the majority of entrepreneurs will seek out the largest possible audience, which is English. This leaves a lot of space for those that want to focus on different languages.

Q: What are the most advantages of non-English blogs compared with English blogs in the online business realm?

A: It's niche based. Most people can do English, only a fraction of that amount can concentrate on other markets too.

Q: What are the obstacles or constraints?

A: There's no such thing as obstacles and constraints, only opportunities and challenges.

Q: What opportunities are mostly suit for non-English blogs?

A: That would obviously be local business. Every country has it's own standards and values, you'd need to be a local to know what motivates people. Also generic products that are being used all over the world, like web-hosting for example. These are things that are not limited to certain locations.

Q: What niche theme mostly fit for non-English blogs?

A: That would all depend on your country. Once again, you will have too look and see what people are interested in. One can imagine that a Britney Spears blog would do better in the US than in Indonesia for example.

Q: While most online ads are in English, what are the non-English blogs have to do to get the cake?

A: We know there's companies that specialize in local advertising, like Nuffnang and Advertlets. Google Adwords does localized ads so there's something for everyone.

Q: Among these programs: PPC Ads, Affiliate Programs, Independent Ads - which one will give more opportunity for non-English blogs?

A: It would depend on the product you are promoting. For obvious reason, we'd say Independent ads would work best on a specific language blog. It's all about local business.

Q: Do you think non-English speaker bloggers should push themselves to write post in English?

A: That all depends on what you'd like to accomplish. If you're blogging for fun, no. Just keep doing what feels good. If you're blogging to make money, you would be wise to expand your territory and reach out to a larger group of English readers.

Q: Do you have or may consider running any new project specifically address for non-English blogs?

A: We're actually entertaining the idea of starting up a new blog in our own language. We've been comparing the top 50 blogs from my country, those who only write in my language, and my current English blog, JohnCow.com would be in the top 3, comparing the statistics.

Q: What's your advice for non-English speaker bloggers in order to keep survive in the online business realm?

A: Either focus purely on your local business and work hard to make a name for yourself, or you can choose to switch to English and serve a greater market with more competition.

Q: What do you think about non-English blogs in general?

A: It's hard for me to judge since I don't speak any other languages, but my general assumption is that there are more gaps in non-English markets and thus a huge opportunity to build a popular blog.

Just take a look at what is working in the English market and see if it would apply just as well in another language market.

Q: Do you think non-English blogs have good prospect in the online business realm?

A: For sure – in fact probably better due to reduced competition and a younger market. If I had a passion for a topic, I'd look at the English market, see who are the leaders, then replicate what they did in another language.

For example – is there a Pay Per Click expert in Japan? How about anSEO guru in German? Just learn the skills, then get out there and help others in your native, non-English language.

Q: What are the most advantages of non-English blogs compared with English blogs in the online business realm?

A: The biggest advantage non-English bloggers have, at least in some areas, is a clear path to success. Let's say there's no blogger who covers blogging for money in French. If I spoke and wrote French perfectly, I would go read the English blogs, learn all I could about professional blogging and then teach others via my French blog.

You don't have to reinvent the wheel – just follow proven successful formulas.

Q: What are the obstacles or constraints?

A: Market size is an issue. Certain languages and cultures just won't support the same markets that English does (and vice versa). You can't assume that a niche will directly translate from English to another language. Maybe people in that country don't go online looking for the information, or maybe the industry is at a different stage of evolution.

Research and testing are the only ways to really know for sure, so don't make any assumptions until you actually try something.

Q: What opportunities are mostly suit for non-English blogs?

A: That's difficult to say. You could look at trends – for example the rising industries in China and India as opportunities, or maybe just nuances within a culture that only people from that culture understand.

Q: What niche theme mostly fit for non-English blogs?

A: I'm not sure what you mean – are you referring to blog theme designs? If that is the case, then the same themes that work well for English blogs will work well for other language blogs.

Q: While most online ads are in English, what are the non-English blogs have to do to get the cake?

A: Seek sponsors from your countries. Businesses in countries that speak other languages spend money on advertising too. If you blog in Spanish, then seek out Spanish sponsors.

Q: Among these programs: PPC Ads, Affiliate Programs, Independent Ads - which one will give more opportunity for non-English blogs?

A: I can't really comment on this beyond what I know about writing an English blog. Affiliate marketing is the best for me, but there is no standard. Other bloggers get better results with AdSense. Non-English blogs follow the same rules – to make the most money test different methods and use a combination that results in maximum profits.

Q: Do you think non-English speaker bloggers should push themselves to write post in English?

A: Definitely not. I've had a few students who have English as a second language who choose to write in English and they struggle as a result. I ask them why they don't write a blog in their native language and they say it's because there is no audience for blogs in their country.

I can understand that might be the case for some industries, but I believe many non-English bloggers are missing the boat to possibly become leaders in their home country. Just because an industry is small now, if you enter early, become the best blogger in your country, then enjoy the rewards later when the market grows. That's not an opportunity you have in some English speaking industries because markets are established.

Q: Do you have or may consider running any new project specifically address for non-English blogs?

A: Not likely. I've often thought of having my work translated, and a few motivated individuals have taken my ebook and newsletters and translated them into other languages, but my focus will remain on writing in English.

Q: What's your advice for non-English speaker bloggers in order to keep survive in the online business realm?

A: Just keep at it – don't stop trying to help people and build online assets. It takes time, but you can get there if you find what you are passionate about and translate that into output for other people to benefit from.

If you know how to write well in a non-English language, then take advantage of the skill you have and start putting content online. Blogging is easy no matter what language you write it, what's difficult is sticking to it for the long haul.

Q: Do you think non-English blogs have good prospect in the online business realm?

A: I do, because with so many blogs written in English, there may be many thousands of internet users searching for blogs in their native language. I think a lot of bloggers who speak English as a second language feel that they won't have an audience if they write in their first language, but this isn't true.

Q: What are the obstacles or constraints?

A: It's more difficult to find advertisers for non-English blogs, which is one hurdle that has to be overcome. I think that's the only significant barrier, though.

Q: What opportunities are mostly suit for non-English blogs?

A: If your blog is about a local place (a city, or a country), then it makes sense to write the blog in the native language of that place. Also, if your niche is likely to attract an audience from a specific country (for example, a blog about the national French soccer team) should be written in the language most of your audience is likely to speak.

Q: Do you think non-English speaker bloggers should push themselves to write post in English?

A: I think, before trying to write in English, the blogger should assess their English skills. Unless they're exceptionally fluent in written English and have great spelling and grammar, I'd advise against writing in English if you want your blog to get popular. Blogs written in English are obviously aimed at English speakers, and those who speak English better than you will feel uncomfortable reading poor grammar, spelling and expression. So unless your English skills are stellar, I'd recommend writing in your native tongue. You'll feel more comfortable, and as a result, you'll produce better content.

Q: What do you think of non-English blogs in general?

A: I am very in favor of non-English blogs because it expands the total number of blogs, bloggers and readers, but also because it adds a good mixture of cultures and ideas. It's too easy for bloggers to get caught up in a cultural bubble where all the ideas are old and stale. One problem I have of course is I have struggled and failed to learn a new language. One of my resolutions for this year is to have another go at learning at least one more language other than English. Only knowing one language is something I am ashamed of.

Q: Do you think non-English blogs have good prospect in the online business realm?

A: Totally. The prospects improve the more non-English speakers talk to each other. So if you know a non-English blogger encourage them!

Q: What are the most advantages of non-English blogs compared with English blogs in the online business realm?

A: The biggest advantage I can see is you can learn all the lessons of English blogs and apply them in your own language. Think about it, some of the top blogs are there because of first-mover advantage!

Q: What are the obstacles or constraints?

A: Acceptance is the main one, and for some languages a reduced audience size. This will change though, and as far as I know Japan and France have a potential to dominate in coming years much more aggressively than English which is slowing.

Q: What opportunities are mostly suit for non-English blogs?

A: Applying global news and themes to the local reader. How do the big stories impact your region or language? After you have the audience then the same rules apply as English, it is down to quality of content and getting to know your audience.

Q: What theme mostly fit for non-English blogs?

A: Any! Blogging is about people first, not technology, not language, it is about finding your audience and giving them what they need.

Q: While most online ads are in English, what are the non-English blogs have to do to get the cake?

A: Private deals are almost always more profitable anyway. Approach advertisers and give them a deal they can't turn down. Also look to affiliates, or sell your own services. Copy what I do in your own language :)

Q: Among these programs: Google Adsense and PPC Ads, Affiliate Programs, Paid to Click, Paid to Review, Independent Ads, Others - which one will give more opportunity for non-English blogs?

A: Affiliates and Private Ad deals, but that is same in English too ;)

A: I'm not sure, it depends on your goals. If you want to be known by the English speaking A-list you will have to, otherwise do what comes natural. What I would recommend though is you tag which language a post is in so you can have a split feed. Make sure your translations are perfect too.

Q: Do you have or may consider running any new project specifically address for non-English blogs?

A: As a matter of fact I did consider doing a blog to motivate me in learning a language. I was thinking if I try to post in the new language then people might help me by correcting my writing. I'm not sure if it would be too ambitious, I am really bad at learning new languages and can only just book a train ticket or order a beer!

Q: What's your advice for non-English speaker bloggers in order to keep survive in the online business realm?

A: Set your sights on your goal and do not be persuaded that it is too hard, that you can't do it or that you have a disadvantage. In some ways you have to be a dreamer. People put up enough blocks to their own success without taking on other peoples ;) I know several non-English speakers who have done very well online and they have got their through their own determination, not through any help. Network, use your language and heritage as a strength.

Q: One word about blogging in 2008?

A: Global.

This is my first post since I'm back to my home country, Indonesia.

Yes, I've finished my study in Kyoto, Japan last March. Now I'm living in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. I'm living here with my wife and my son, a 4 years old cute boy. :)

I'm happy that I can re-unite with my family. It seems that I do love the weather here in my hometown. Other thing, I do happy because I still can use internet in my bed room instead of office. :) What a nice job for me.

From now I just want to keep blogging, keep writing anything in my mind, keep sharing my everyday life here in Indonesia. Hope you'll enjoy my notes here.

Okay, that's all for now. This is only a short update after I've been absent for a quite long time.

I Can't Eat Sushi

Sorry, sushi lovers. Yes, I can't eat sushi (and also sashimi).

I have to admit this. I really can't eat sushi. It's like something strange for me to eat raw fish. Or, let me say, anything raw. Raw fish, raw meat or raw foods.

I can't stand sushi's smell. I can't swallow its soft-skinny fish scales. My first experience eating sushi was not something nice to remember. I threw up everything. :) And from that point I stop eating sushi. I learn and know what I want to eat and what I don't want to.

Sushi is my number one NOT.

Actually, I love Japanese foods. I love udong, I love ramen, I love tempura. I love takoyaki. I love okashi. I love tofu. :) Most Japanese foods are fresh, healthy and hygienic. Japanese foods have great diet spices receipts. They used lots of vegetables and natural ingredients. Not like junk foods.

But I just can't eat something raw. Not sushi.

Kogal, Ganguro, Yamamba

The video below is about the other side of Japanese culture. Have you ever heard about Kogal? Ganguro? Or even Yamamba?

I think you all know about Geisha, Ninja or Sumo as a part of Japanese culture which have been well known abroad. But now the Japanese youth seem have their own term to identify their life. As I find in many Japanese big cities, such as in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Yokohoma and others, these "girls power phenomena" of Kogal, Ganguro and Yamamba have spread everywhere as a new cultural sign of Japan.

May be we will also see the Kogal, Ganguro and Yamamba girls in our countries soon.

Who knows?

I just checked my MyBlogLog account when I found that they have a new look MyBlogLog "Recent Reader" widget. You can also read the buzz at their blog here.

This new widget is really cool. :)

It has a glossy finish, multi-colored shading, and new, eye-catching icons to add readers to our community. For Simply Note, I just updated mine with the new one and choose the red color as it most suit with my theme. Check mine at the left sidebar of this blog.

This new widget also has a new feature of "flyout" which will fade in when you hover over a reader's photo for more details on the visitor. You can quickly browse more information about that reader and directly click through to that person's MyBlogLog profile or their community pages.

I love this new widget much.

Let me write about this blog's template a while. Nope. Nothing special. I just want to write this because personally I love this template. Love it so much.

This is my third template since I used default template from Blogspot. It's about three months ago. I used Minima Lefty template as my first template. The second template I used is my own tweaking template of Minima Lefty. But I'm not a design savvy geek at all. The hand-made template (I would say) not stayed for a long time because it looks cluttered and dumb (hehehe, at least for me).

Then I decided to change and tried to looking for free template from the web. I found many beautiful and clean design template which I really wanted to use to replace the old one. But then a big problem evolved. I couldn't put the template 's code well in my own template. I'm not sure why this happened but I think it might be because the code was not parsed well.

I tried many awesome free templates which I thought reflecting my character but most of them failed. Then last month I found free template from FinalSense. They have a huge collection of free templates which can be used depend on your need either for you personal blog or semi-professional blog.

Finally I choose this current template called Window as my preference. I love the simplicity of the template. Clean, personal and warm. It's the red color that made this template looks so beautiful and contrast with the window image at the sidebar. Yap, the window image is also the other thing that made me falling in love with this template. The window is like a symbol for my blog: a place to look outside.

Well, I just love my template. :) Do you?

I'm So Tired Today

Today I have so many things to do. Yea, a lot of things.

The biggest part of these things to do is of course writing for my final report. I have to submitted my final report to university next week. Actually the deadline is 20 February, but I decide to give them out earlier than the propose date. Well, I'm glad to say it has about 90% part of all, so I think I will able to bring them to my professor next week.

The other busier things are working for my side job online. Today I have so many offers to be done. About ten of them should be submitted tomorrow. So today I have to use my spare time after lunch to sit down in front of my laptop and keep typing.

It's hard, I must admit that.

My today's agenda is like this:

Took a breakfast (of course by myself as I live here in Kyoto alone)
Took a quick bath
Went to university (by bike and then change to train)
Attended class (about 2 hours)
Went to library (not for study, I just made a draft for my side job)
Attended Zemi (this is a Japanese seminar style, quite tired enough)
Went back to my boarding house (about at ten pm! Yea, so tired guys)
Sit down in front of my laptop and keep typing and typing (again for my side job)
Went to bed at 3 in the morning! (ohh, I'm so tired and sleepy. And cold)

Well, at least I've finished my stuff right on time. That's good anyway. I'm just going to sleep right after writing for this post.

Tomorrow I don't have class.
