As we get ready to spend time outdoors with friends and family this summer, be it for a special occasion like Father’s Day or the 4th of July, or just your average weekend barbecue, we first have to face the often painful task of actually getting our yards ready for these events. And this includes tidying up your deck or porch area.

But the folks at Homeright are making the job a little easier with their new deck washer!

Since we just so happened to have a wooden deck in desperate need of a cleaning, I was really excited to hear about this product and was really happy to receive one for review.

The Deck Washer is very easy to assemble and attaches to your water hose. It has 14 high-pressure, zero-degree water jets to aid in superior surface cleaning. It also has a 13 inch wide brush and has a 54 inch long extension handle

And it’s ideal not only for washing your deck but also for prepping it before a paint or stain job. And it can also be used to power-clean patios, driveways, garage floors, pool areas and any outdoor space that needs a good scrubbing.

I was really impressed by this. I’ve used pressure washers before but not one with a brush. I love being able to actually scrub the dirt, mildew, and other particles away. And the length of handle makes it very versatile, in that you can use it on the ground like a broom or use it to scrub down walls. And for me, it’s also great that it is easy to use and assemble!

Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad

For the Salad Social, I’m sharing my husband’s favorite salad, which is the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad. Since going on a diet a few weeks ago, he’s been taking these for lunch every day.

Recipe for Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad:

Ingredients:
2-3 cups Romaine Lettuce, chopped
1 Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breast, grilled and chopped
Freshly Grated Parmesan Cheese
Croutons
Ceasar Dressing

Directions: Chop up lettuce and top with cooked chicken. Sprinkle with cheese and top with croutons and dressing.

Spotlight on The Ribbon Retreat

Have you ever visited The Ribbon Retreat? Their site is a crafter’s dream! Of course they are known for their lovely craft products and supplies, which include everything from ribbon and ric rac to flowers and head bands.

But what you may not know is that The Ribbon Retreat also has a fabulous blog filled with tons of written and video tutorials.

The Ribbon Retreat blog is such a great resource, and it has something for everyone in the crafting world.

I found a really great tutorial on how to make a growth chart. Using really cute fabrics, ribbons, dowels, and a fabric marker, you can create this cute growth chart for your child’s room. When I was a kid, I used to love getting measured to see how much I had grown. Back then we just used pencil and a wall, but a growth chart is so much better. And the tutorial over at The Ribbon Retreat makes it look really easy with their colored photos and step by step instructions.

And just in the last couple of weeks they’ve had tutorials for card making, headbands, coin purses, and summer tops for girls.

Personally I love the tutorials they have for bows and headbands. As a kid, I never left home without a bow in my hair. I had a big bow collection, and I can’t imagine how many I would have had, if we’d had tutorials like these. And they have so many styles. I love their Pinwheel Headband. It’s such a cute creation for summer time. And I also love their Minnie Mouse Bow. It features some fun, bright colors, and of course, I love the classic Minnie Silhouette.

Homemade Chocolate Frosties

I’m really excited to bring you today’s recipe! I first saw this on another blog last minute and forgot about it. But then several months ago, I saw it again on Food.com via Pinterest, and I made it almost immediately!

This is a homemade version of Wendy’s chocolate Frosties! You are going to love this! It only requires three ingredients, and it tastes so yummy and just like the ones you get at Wendy’s. (Maybe even better!)

And if you like this idea, you should also try these homemade fudgesicles that I posted last year! They are fantastic!

Recipe for Wendy’s Frosties

Ingredients:

16 ounces Cool Whip
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 gallon chocolate milk

Directions: Pour condensed milk and Cool Whip in an ice cream freezer. Fill to”fill line” with chocolate milk. Stir all ingredients, then turn on machine and let it freeze!

Note: If you don’t have an ice cream maker (which I do not, but I SO need to get one!), what I did was to mix the ingredients in a bowl. Then I placed it in the freezer about every 45 minutes or so, I’d get it out and stir it with a spoon. I continued this for a few hours until, the mixture reached the proper “frosty” consistency!

When I see a stain, I immediately want to “Shout it out.”
