Cake Pops for Christmas

2012-12-17T04:00:00.001-08:00

A friend from college recently asked for Christmas cake pops. We sent a few messages back and forth but thanks to Pinterest we were able to figure out exactly what she was looking for! I had a blast creating these 50 Christmas Cake Pops. We went with red velvet cake for the insides- my favorite- and we picked 7 different designs from snowmen to gingerbread men and some simply sweet looking snowflakes. Enjoy the pictures!

Fireman themed party

2012-12-14T18:45:00.002-08:00

My favorite little client turned 5 this year and to celebrate he had the coolest party at the FDNY FireZone in NYC. Of course, when you have a fireman themed party, you've got to have matching cupcakes ( don't forget the dalmatian puppy )! Take a look at these cupcakes we designed for the theme- there are firetrucks, fire hydrants, and hoses spraying water to put out the mini fondant fires!

My new little place on Mulberry Street

2012-08-12T19:42:00.001-07:00

My new little place on Mulberry Street is adorable. This street is great place for creative inspiration. Everywhere I look there is something adorable to see (and instagram). What I do love the most is seeing the adorable Italian bakeries chock full of CANNOLIS and GELATO! I'm looking forward to baking in my cute new kitchen- just need to learn how to make the most of this tiny space. If you live in NYC I'm sure you can sympathize, great locations mean small kitchens. My new challenge is creating a functional and beautiful space. Thank you Pinterest for providing the perfect little book of pinsperation --> http://www.apartmentth

Champagne Pops

2012-05-08T08:20:00.003-07:00

Champagne Cake Pops! A little bubbly makes any birthday more spectacular- so does a lot of glitter... These treats were custom designed for a 26th birthday. The golden cake pop globes are made with chocolate cake/chocolate icing and dipped in white chocolate, covered in a golden glaze and then sprinkled with edible gold flakes. Those globes were designed to represent the champagne bubbles. The champagne bottles are hand painted fondant and hand shaped to look like the real deal. Each bottle has "1986" which is the year the birthday girl was born in. The base is built out of Styrofoam and has bright pink accents for a fun touch.

Pinterest has the most gorgeous sweets. Everything from cakes to jello and every picture makes your mouth water. When I need a little inspiration I go to Pinterest and look through the millions of delectable and beautiful treats- I could seriously pin for hours. I will make all of these this year. That's the goal.

A friend from High School contacted me about making cake pops for her friend's engagement party. I am really excited about these cake pops because I think they might be my best ones yet. The bride's dress is made of fondant, pearl dust and sparkle flake sprinkles. I just hope my dress looks that pretty one day :)

Pete's Subway Party

2011-09-25T18:57:00.000-07:00

Pete's fourth birthday was Subway themed, so I made Metro Card Cupcakes and Subway Line cake pops.
Each MetroCard is made with a graham cracker cut to the specific size of a MetroCard, painted with yellow chocolate, and topped off with a strip of black fondant and blue icing for the letters.
Each cake pop is made with Vanilla cake, Vanilla icing, and different color Wilton chocolate. We made the bases with construction paper wrapped around foam blocks and we used tape, aluminum foil, and cake pop sticks (colored black with a sharpie).

See what you think!

She asked for a black and white theme but said I could just do whatever I wanted... which of course I loved because I got to make each pop different!

Take a look :)

Cake Pop Taste Test

2011-07-17T05:31:00.000-07:00

Yesterday my grandma brought me to a local chocolate shop near her house to show me the cake pops they sold there. We spent a long time looking through the store because they sold so many amazing treats! I bought one of their cake pops to compare to my own. Later in the day after tons of swimming, soccer and dinner it was time to have a dessert competition of sorts. I held a blind tasting for my sister, 11 year old cousin, and my brother-in-law. I fed them the bakery made cake pops and my own cake pops with their eyes closed and made them describe which one they liked better from just tasting. GOOD NEWS! They liked my homemade cake pop to the store bought cake pop 3 out of 3 times :)

Royal Wedding Cake Pops

2011-07-16T06:00:00.000-07:00

Also, P.S., they make unique boxes for Cake pops! Love this! Made carrying them to work super easy.

First official cake pop sale

2011-07-15T15:41:00.000-07:00

My first cake pop sale was to a lady at work. She is having a shower this weekend, and needed cake pops that were purple to match her theme. She showed me some ideas that she liked and I tried them out. They came out perfectly and I couldn't have been happier with the result. These cake pops are made with red velvet cake and buttercream frosting topped off with a purple orchid colored candy chocolate coating. Then I used purple sprinkles by Wilton to create the purple spiral pops and regular white Duncan Hines to make the design on the outside of the rest of the pops. I enlisted the help of my mother to make me a personalized cooler so I could carry the carefully crafted pops all the way into NYC for work. Not featured here- she turned a Snapple box into an icey cooler by insulating it with tin foil and wrapping it with wrapping paper so it looked a little bit classier than a Snapple box. Check out the images above and let me know what you think!
