How to stop hair loss: through nail rubbing

I chanced upon a method to reduce hair loss via the internet recently. The method is to rub finger nails against one another. If you find this method to stop hair loss a bit unconventional, there seems to be some scientific proof: as according to the literature I read, rubbing finger nails against one another seems to stimulate the production of keratin which may help to grow some hair. Hair fall when shampooing

I was shocked to see many strands of hair fallen during shampooing this evening. Though I feel that my scalp does not itch any more using the Clear shampoo, I was surprised at today's hair loss during shampooing. I hope that this hair loss will not be frequent.

What Hair Loss Shampoo I am using to prevent or reduce my Hair Loss now?

My first post on this Hair Loss Diary will touch on the Hair Loss shampoo which I am using now to prevent or reduce my hair loss. I believe a Hair Loss shampoo or even a general shampoo is what every people including hair loss sufferers use on a daily basis, hence I find it fitting to start the first blog post touching on the hair loss shampoo which I am now using.

I am now using CLEAR anti-dandruff and anti hair loss shampoo which is a new product from CLEAR. I have seen and used a anti-dandruff shampoo and anti hair loss shampoo separately but not a shampoo which combines both. Having suffered from itchy and dandruff-prone scalp and suffering from hair loss, I think this is the hair loss which may work for me, hence I have bought this shampoo at $15.70 (which is considered quite expensive) from NTUC.

I have some consolation from the recommendation by some French authority endorsement on this shampoo but with all other hair loss shampoo, one needs to wait for some time to determine whether a hair loss shampoo works or not.

Why more and more young Singaporeans Lose Hair?

I think it is getting more and more common these days to see more men and women in their youth or some even as young as in secondary school with thinning hair and balding spots on their scalp every time we walk on the streets. This begs the question: why more and more young Singaporeans lose hair?

Yup, I am one of the thousands of hair loss victims in Singapore and I have experienced hair loss for close to 6 years already. In case you ask me whether I am bald now, no, I am not bald but my hair has thinned visibly though if you are a person who have not seen me before, you would not have known that I have been losing thousands and thousands on hair over these 6 years. I can be considered to look normal when standing against the thousands of Singaporean men who already have thinning or even balding scalp.

That is because, I really really am concerned about the state of my hair and through these years, I have been experimenting with many shampoos, many products to see what works what do not work for me. Yes, I have been spending thousands of hair loss shampoos, tonics, treatments and other products. But the main point of this blog post is not to share with readers my hair loss experience which you can easily read about slowly in this blog. Instead in this post, I am going to share with readers my opinions on why more and more Singaporeans are losing their hair, women and men. And I am going to focus on young women and men for it is only natural for old men and women to have lesser and thinner hair as they age.

So, without further ado, let me share my insight on why more and more Singaporeans are losing their hair at a young age, please note that all of the following reasons are just my guesses, there are no evidence to back up my guesses:

a) Climate Change

The first reason which I think may be the number 1 attributing factor to hair loss is Climate Change. Just look around, Singaporeans are not the only citizens who are losing their hair at a young age. If you go to Europe, Japan or other Asian countries, you will see many of their people with thinning hair and balding scalp too at a young age. Notable celebrities who have thinning hair or balding scalp include one of the band members of Taiwan’s 5566, Prince William, just to name a few. Hence I believe Hair Loss among young people is not only a problem prevalent in Singapore but it is also really an international problem. If my guess is correct, I think the ozone layer has really been damaged too much that more and more harmful sun rays which are hurting to the scalps of young men and women pass through. It just happens that Singapore is situated at the equator where we get the most intense sun rays which results in a high proportion of our young men and women now having thinning hair and balding scalp.

b) Food and water

I heard some people on the street telling to another that he suspects the introduction of Newater into our reservoirs in recent years leads to the increase in hair loss among young people here. According to this man whom I overheard talking to his friend in the coffeeshop, he thought that was also the reason why many of his foreign friends started to experience hair loss once they move over to Singapore for living or work. Initially when I heard their argument, I thought they have a possible reason for the increase in hair loss among young people since the number of young people with thinning hair or balding scalp seems to start increasing since the early years when Newater was introduced.

This got me to doing an experiment: drinking pure mineral and distilled water for a month. To my surprise, my hair loss still continued during this period. There was no corresponding reduction in hair loss throughout this trial period. Hence I do not think that Newater causes hair loss.

On the other hand, I think food might be a more probable reason for young people to suffer from hair loss. Nowadays, food is laden with MSG generously, and if you were to read the literature on hair loss, you would known there is definitely a link between food and hair loss

c) Computer

This is another reason which I thought of. With modern man now being surrounded by computers, I always thought that computer radiation including the radiation from i-phones may have some health impacts on our bodies including our hair.

d) Shampoos

Nowadays, there is a raft of shampoos out there in the market, which to me seem to ride on the increasing hair loss scene in Singapore. I have been a victim myself trying many many different shampoos most of which did not work at all. Let us face the fact, not every one’s scalp is suited to the ingredients used in the many shampoos. Choose a shampoo that suits your scalp Best

e) Shampooing

Have you heard of the maxim “Simple is Basic?” Well, I believe one of the top reasons why more and more young people these days are experiencing hair loss and hair thinning is due to the fact that our society is getting more and more time-crunched and there is a need for faster and instant gratification. Hence more and more young people may be quickly shampooing their hair not knowing that they are not shampooing their scalp and removing the grease and dirt on their scalp effectively.

And that brings me to the conclusion of this post. I have been suffering from hair loss for many years and have tried many hair loss shampoos, many of which do not work and worst, some of these even irritate my scalp. Alpecin is not sold in Singapore and this shampoo is one of the three I bought during my Europe tour (the other shampoos bought together with Alpecin did not work for me). When I tried Alpecin hair loss shampoo, over time,I find my hair softer, less irritated and far fewer strands of my hair seen upon shampooing or waking up the next morning. I am glad and very surprised to find one hair loss shampoo suitable for my scalp AT LAST and now I have weaned Alpecin into my daily hair care routine!

I am glad to use Alpecin just that it is too bad that this product is not sold in Singapore. Do note that I use the word "reduce hair loss" and not "stop hair loss" in the preceding paragraphs as this is from my own experience. I am not a salesman and am not selling you a product which you must take. I am sharing my own experiene of using Alpecin which over time, reduces my hair loss though some hair does fall off naturally daily too.

If you are tired of spending your hard-earned monies buying another hair loss shampoo (which is touted to work) in the supermaket, only to find that only after a few uses, your hair loss is still the same or even worsen and you stop the hair loss shampoo and throw it away, wasting your hard-earned monies yet again (trust me, I know this experience), this may be time to consider Alpecin.

Ever since switching to a new anti hair loss shampoo: Sebamed anti hair loss shampoo, I have been dropping my hair more and more. It pains my heart to see monies being wasted on yet another shampoo that is not giving me results. The Sebamed anti-dandruff shampoo is okay but I am disappointed at its anti-hair loss counterparts. I googled through the internet and found a forum posting related to Sebamed Hair Loss shampoo review too.

Hair Loss and cutting hair: barbers should charge less

For hair loss sufferers like me, going to the barber has now become an increasingly reality-facing thing as I have fewer and fewer strands of hair to be cut by the barber with every visit over time.

Sebamed Anti-Hairloss Shampoo

I bought Sebamed Anti-Hairloss Shampoo yesterday at NTUC Unity. This shampoo is not cheap at $23.55 for 200 ml. However, the price of this shampoo was already a discount as its original price is $29.
I have tried Sebamed Anti-dandruff shampoo and so far, this is one of the few shampoos suitable for my oily-prone and dandruff-prone scalp. Thus I bought Sebamed Anti-Hair Loss shampoo to try it out! I hope this shampoo will work for me. I will keep you readers posted on my progress!

Hair Loss Shampoos cause more hair loss?

If you are suffering from hair loss or hair thinning, you may experience a situation whereby you try out a highly-touted hair loss shampoo only to find that the shampoo really causes you to have more hair loss! So what do you do in this case?
For me, as a result of trying quite a large number of hair loss shampoos, I have stocked up quite a number of shampoos, all of which are only used up to half or a quarter. I realise from my experience that:

a) lemon or lime shampoos like Phyto shampoo which works to clear my greasy scalp is not suitable for me
b) European herb hair loss shampoos are not suitable for me

The only shampoo which works just fine for me are anti-dandruff shampoo which causes me to lose fewer hair.

So knowing which shampoo works and sticking to this shampoo is key to your fight against hair loss!

Why increasing young people have hair loss!

If you are a victim of hair loss, hair fall or thinning hair, you are not alone: even actors and actresses to whom looks are prized assets for them in their career have thinning hair, balding patches or receding hairlines.

I need not tell you who these actors and actresses are, you can see them yourselves on the TV screens. What I want to say is that hair loss and hair thinning is universal, and the increasing balding and hair thinning among our youths is not restricted to Singapore, other countries are also experiencing such phenomena. My guess is that such prevalent hair loss among youths of our world is due to Climate Change (it seems like a cliché right, everything blame Climate Change) as the ozone layer thins and sends more harmful rays from the sun to all our scalps and Singapore being near the equator will receive more of such rays.

A Likely explanation? Please let me have your comments, Thanks!

Hair Loss prevention and treatment

Hi readers, just a post to share my experiences of hair loss.

If your hair loss or thinning is concentrated at one spot, the hair loss is likely to be inherited and one must treat this genetic cause for hair loss.

On the other hand, if the hair loss is uniform, it is most likely due to oily scalp. Please treat your dandruff and oily scalp before applying hair-growth shampoo to treat hair loss else it is no use to pile hair tonics on top of layers of oil!

Scratching head at middle of night while sleeping due to oily hair loss

I must admit that sometime while I regain some consciousness during sleep, I find myself scratching my scalp which results in some strands of hair on my pillow and bed. Such scratching must be attributable to oily hair and scalp which irritates the scalp causing it to be itchy and one has to scratch.

Stieprox shampoo for hair loss?

If you are my regular reader, you would have known by now, that I am using Stieprox as part of the arsenal to combat hair loss. Siteprox is used to control my dandruff and while I am quite relieved that stieprox really does help me to cure my dandruff, what I found is that too much regular use of stieprox may cause more hair fall. I think moderation is key afterall.

Klorane Hair Loss Shampoo

Hair Loss Experience: phytocedrat sebo-regulating shampoo experience

I bought phytocedrat sebo-regulating shampoo some weeks ago. While this shampoo is touted to cure hair loss by regulating the scalp sebum production, I find my scalp oversensitive to the ingredients of the shampoo.

I find this shampoo too strong for my scalp as halfway during sleep on Wednesday night, I found my scalp too itchy and lots of hair were found strewn on my bed.

I am currently using Klorane anti hair loss shampoo, to be alternated with Stieprox to cure dandruff. I will update my hair loss progress here regularly on this blog, hence stay tuned!

How to cope with Hair Loss?

I think a short haircut is good for hair loss sufferers. A short hair cut will not make hair thinning and hair loss obvious to others. Also, having short hair will enable hair loss sufferers to clean the scalp more thoroughly and clean, resulting in less dirt and oil that may clog up pores.
Hence I will recommend hair loss sufferers to cut their hair short.

Hair Loss: Oily scalp & Dandruff

Many people usually associated an oily scalp with dandruff. This is quite a common misconception. Dandruff can also occur with a dry scalp. The treatment of oily scalp should be done differently from dandruff control, though there are some areas of overlap.

Alternate use of hair loss shampoos

I believe hair loss sufferers should alternate the use of hair loss shampoos. I have been using Phytocedrat for a week and all was well. However I find that my scalp has become too dry, which leads to me shedding quite a number of hair during shampooing on Thu and Fri (4 to 5 days after the first use).
Hence I switched back to another shampoo, else I afraid my scalp will become too dry and lose more hair.
