2015 Jan 31 - May 31 Chinese Zodiac Heads

The Asian Civilisations Museum is showcasing 12 replicas of historic zodiac sculptures. These bronze heads, donated by Jackie Chan, were crafted specially for the 2012 movie, CZ12, which he directed.

Bronze replicas of all the zodiac statues - one of 12 sets cast for the film - are displayed in an exhibition opening at the Asian Civilisations Museum. They were donated by Chan and will become part of the museum's permanent collection after the exhibition ends in May.

The one-hectare Far East Organization Children’s Garden consists of playtime elements that combine both nature and adventure. This is an attraction for kids aged 5 and below and 6-12 years old. This attraction was opened on 21 Jan 2014. The children's garden is near the treehouse and the adventure trail. The adventure trail consists of trampolines, balancing beams, hanging bridges and many more. Toddler Play Zone (Suitable for 1 to 5 years old) Comprising play equipment, the toddler play zone consists of two areas - Toddler Play Equipment such as a sway bridge and stepping springs, and the Fish Fountain featuring an interactive landscape of water tunnels and fish sculptures where toddlers can clamber on the sculpted backs and dodge a series of water jets.

Water Play (Suitable for 6 to 12 years old) For children who enjoy splashing about, this centrepiece will be a delight for any child who loves frolicking about in the water. Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall (晚晴园)

Managed by the Singapore National Heritage Board - Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall (晚晴园), was the Sun Yat-sen's revolutionary base in Southeast Asia. It not only witnessed the Nanyang Chinese contribution to the Revolution of 1911, but also reflects the diversity of the early twentieth century Singapore Chinese community.

After a year of renovation, Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall on October 8, 2011 re-opening. Refurbished memorial hall features historical photographs, paintings, calligraphy and other artifacts Sun Yat-sen, a more comprehensive macro perspective, of the Chinese community in Singapore in the first half of the twentieth century.

Other than taking care of pets, The Animal Resort is a nice place to bring young kids to. They can see the animals up close, touch and feed them. Kids will be able to feed the fishes, rabbits, chicken, duck, goose, hamsters, cassowary, peacock, horse...

Do something a bit different than the standard Singaporean bring-kids-to-the-mall activity. It’s way more informal than the zoo, a lot more hands-on and close-up.

It’s FREE to enter. You can pay $2 to buy 3 packets of animal feed, which is optional, but I’d highly recommend it because the kids had heaps of fun feeding the animals.

Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay, a entire man made garden sitting on 54 hectares of prime real estate reclaimed from the sea, just minutes away from other attractions like the Singapore Flyer and Marina Bay Sands.

An integral part of Singapore’s “City in a Garden” vision, Gardens by the Bay spans a total of 101 hectares of prime land at the heart of Singapore. Comprising three waterfront gardens – Bay South, Bay East and Bay Central – Gardens by the Bay will be a showcase of horticulture and garden artistry that will bring the world of plants to Singapore and present Singapore to the world.

Bay South, the largest at 54 hectares, officially opened on 29 June 2012 and this is the garden that has captured the attention of Singaporeans.

Bay Central Garden will act as a link between Bay South and Bay East Gardens. It stands at 15 hectares (37 acres) with a 3-kilometre (1.9 mi) waterfront promenade that allows for scenic walks stretching from the city centre to the east of Singapore. More future developments of Bay Central Garden are coming in the next few years.

Bay East Garden is 32 hectares in size and it has a 2-kilometre promenade frontage that embroiders the Marina Reservoir. The first phase of the garden was opened to the public in October 2011, allowing alternate access to the Marina Barrage. Bay East Garden will provide visitors with an unobstructed view of the city skyline.

The 18 Supertrees, tree-like structures draw inspiration from the dominant trees in the rainforest. They are vertical gardens that perform a multitude of functions, which include planting, shading and working as environmental engines for the gardens. Some have photovoltaic cells on their canopies to harvest solar energy for lighting up the Supertrees at night, while others are integrated with the cooled conservatories and serve as air exhaust receptacles.

The conservatory complex comprises two cooled conservatories – ‘Cloud Forest’ (0.8 hectare) and ‘Flower Dome’ (1.2 hectares) – the conservatories replicate the cool-moist climate of the Tropical Montane region and the cool dry climate of the Mediterranean and semi-arid sub-tropical regions. These regions are among the most threatened habitats in the world, with many plant species facing the threat of climate change and habitat loss brought about by human activities.

The Cloud Forest replicates the cool moist conditions found in tropical mountain regions between 1,000 metres (3,300 ft) and 3,000 metres (9,800 ft) above sea level. It features a "Cloud Mountain", accessible by an elevator, and visitors will be able to descend the mountain via a circular path where a 35-metre (115 ft) waterfall provides visitors with refreshing cool air.

The Flower Dome replicates cool dry conditions and will feature permanent displays of plants found in the Mediterranean and semi-arid tropical regions. A changing display field has also been incorporated to enable flower shows and displays to be held within the conservatory.

Admission: You only need to pay for entry into the domes and the OCBC skywalk – the rest of the areas are free of charge.

Pasir Ris Kid's Kampong

Pasir Ris Kid’s Kampong started in 1997 at Pasir Ris Park, Elias Road. They were operating there till the end of 2004 before they shifted to the new premise at Pasir Ris Farmway 1 in 2005.

In the sixties, whereby our family lived in the ‘kampung’ (a malay name for village). Children living in the kampung often played together in the great outdoors. Around the kampung, one could easily find many ‘longkangs’ (a malay word for drains). On rainy days, the longkangs would be flooded and fishes (mainly longkang fish) would be found swimming in them.

As Singapore progressed and advanced in every area, kampungs are demolished and children lost the outdoors as people all moved into flats. They are cooped up at home and glued to the one-eyed monster. Many have to study very hard and most of the time, outdoor play is taken away.

At Kid’s Kampong, they are committed to preserve this authentic novel way of longkang fishing, and want every child of today to experience it first hand.

Singapore Air Force Museum

The Singapore Air Force Museum captures the spirit and heritage of the RSAF. The museum now resides on 10,600 m² of land, with a total built up area of 4,600 m². The exhibition area comprises mainly the outdoor gallery, eight indoor galleries on the second level and the history of aviation gallery on the first level.

Walking through the main entrance to the concourse area, you will see many memorabilia being displayed, including features on the past Chiefs of the Air Force.

The outdoor gallery boasts more than 2,000 m2 of RSAF's glorious past, some on the ground and others suspended from the 16m high roof. The viewing deck on the second level provides a panoramic view of these exhibits. The various aircraft on display range from our first possessions: the Cessna 172K, BAC 167 Strikemaster and T-33 Shooting Star trainers, to early aircraft like Hawker Hunter and SF-260 SIAI Marchetti, and finally to more recent acquisitions including the UH-1B Helicopter and A4-S Skyhawk.

You will also get to feast your eyes on aircraft armament and air defense artillery including the Bloodhound Missile, support equipment like practice targets, and even aircraft engines like the Rolls Royce Bristol Viper.

i Light Marina Bay, Asia's first and only sustainable light art festival was first held from 15 October to 7 November in 2010. Presented by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and organised by Smart Light Singapore (SLS), the event celebrated Marina Bay's nightscape through the showcase of 25 dynamic and innovative light art installations along the 3.5km waterfront promenade.

This is the second edition of i Light Marina Bay, and will be held from 9 March to 1 April 2012. Themed "Light Meets Asia", the sophomore will feature more than 30 innovative and environmentally sustainable light art installations, with a strong focus on works from Asia.

There will be a performance by GFK (GoFlyKite), which will only be at Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade and The Promontary on all the Fridays and Saturdays (9,10, 16,17, 23,24, 30,31 March) for a 30 min interval air show.

Labrador Park Singapore

Marina Bay Sands Show - Wonder Full

Singapore Marina Bay Sands has its very own spectacular light and water show called Wonder Full. It is the largest light and water spectacular in Southeast Asia!

Using lasers, searchlights, LEDs, video projectors and giant water screens to create stunning visual effects, Marina Bay Sands will present a breathtaking 360-degree sensory experience portraying Light and Water creating Life, choreographed to an inspiring original score.

The soundtrack of marina bay sands show is performed by a 140-piece symphony orchestra and famous Singaporean performers, will be broadcast simultaneously on the event sound system and on 103.9 FM – the official Marina Bay Sands radio station – Wonder Full Waves– so you can tune in and listen in real time as you watch the show.

The event is free – no tickets or queuing necessary. The best spot to view the laser show is at the Event Plaza, Marina Bay Sands. The performance will last 13 minutes and promises to be a truly memorable experience
