Kampong Buangkok – RELOADED

A couple of students from National Junior College were doing a school project on Kampong Buangkok and we decided to work together. We organized a trip down to the village and collected new materials to update this section. Previously all that was featured were only a few VRs and no write up. I gave them the entire Kampong Buangkok section to work on and they have revamped it with new locations and a video they produced. There is even a tour inside one of the houses, courtesy of the residents.

Virtual Homes Turns One

SingaporeVR’s partner and friend, http://www.virtualhomes.sg/ has turned one. Congratulations Virtual Homes ! ! ! It has been a very fruitful year and the database continues to grow. To date, we have photographed and produced over 3000++ VRs of properties around the country, a feat that was not achieved by employing expensive gadgets but through the hard work and dedication of a team of friends.

I received a question from one of my viewers, “Why didn’t you shoot more VRs of the Singapore Flyer?” Well, in reply to the question, actually I did. In fact I’ve shot plenty more VRs around Singapore but due to time and work commitments, I haven’t been able to process all of them for upload onto this website. I also shoot new ones as I come across places or events and those not processed get delayed.

Sigh… time is the one thing I can never have enough of.

Alkaff Bridge

This bridge across the Singapore River is also known as the Singapore Art Bridge. Built in 1997, the plain looking bridge was given new life by Filipino artist Pacita Abad (1946–2004).

Pacita had battled cancer for three years and passed away the same year she completed painting the Alkaff Bridge.

Fairmont Hotel – Wrong side of the National Day Parade !

Today marks Singapore’s 44th year of independence. A group of us had planned to stay over at the Swissotel to celebrate a friend’s birthday and also to see the fireworks and the parade from up high. HOWEVER… we found out later that our dear organizer had booked the Fairmont Hotel instead! To make matters worse… our room was on the wrong side of the building.

NOTE: This was by no means the fault of the hotel.
