Setiap organisasi dibentuk untuk tujuan tertentu, tergantung siapa yang mendirikan dan siapa saja anggotanya, sehingga tak dapat dipungkiri kalau tak semua organisasi memiliki tujuan yang baik. Di antara organisasi-organisasi jahat itu bahkan ada yang seperti tak henti-hentinya menebar teror dan pembunuhan demi satu tujuan. Dan karena tujuannya itu, tak jarang organisasi ini bersifat sangat rahasia sehingga banyak yang ragu kalau organisasi itu memang ada. Berikut enam organisasi paling jahat dan berbahaya di dunia yang datanya dikutip dari berbagai sumber.

1. Freemasonry

Eksistensi organisasi persaudaraan rahasia kaum elit Yahudi ini berawal dari dibasminya ordo Ksatria Templar oleh Raja Perancis Philipe le Bel dan Paus Clemens V pada abad ke-14. Ketika pembasmian berlangsung, para anggota ordo ini tercerai berai kemana-mana dan di antaranya ada yang menyamar menjadi tukang batu dan bergabung dengan Serikat Tukang Batu di Skotlandia yang disebut Mason. Bahkan dari nama inilah nama Freemasonry berasal. Menurut sejumlah referensi, termasuk buku 'Knight Templar, Knight Crist', organisasi ini bertujuan untuk menegakkan kembali kejayaan bangsa Yahudi yang terusir dari Yaruselem pada 70 Masehi setelah runtuhnya kuil Sulaiman akibat perang Salib. Untuk mencapai tujuannya ini, mereka melakukan berbagai cara, termasuk menyingkirkan siapapun yang menghalangi jalannya, bahkan menghancurkan negara yang dianggap tidak mendukung gerakannya. Kelompok inilah yang berada di belakang Revolusi Perancis pada 1789, Revolusi Inggris, dan yang memerdekakan Amerika Serikat 4 Juli 1776 dan kemudian menungganginya hingga kini. Bahkan mereka pula yang berada di belakang berdirinya negara Israel. Hingga kini organisasi ini masih terus bekerja untuk menggenggam dunia dengan berupaya menciptakan Tatanan Dunia Baru dimana mereka sebagai penguasanya. Bukti salah satu kekuatan mereka tertera pada uang lembaran satu dolar Amerika yang bergambar piramida dengan satu mata pada puncaknya.

2. Illuminati

Ini juga kelompok persaudaraan rahasia kaum elit Yahudi. Semula organisasi ini berdiri sendiri, namun karena memiliki kesamaan misi dan visi dengan Freemansonry, organisasi ini bergabung dengan organisasi itu. Illuminati yang berarti pencerahan, didirikan oleh Adam Weishaupt (1748-1811) seorang keturunan Yahudi kelahiran Ingolstadt, Jerman, dan memiliki latar belakang pendidikan sebagai seorang Jesuit. Dia bahkan pernah menjadi pendeta Katolik, namun karena ajarannya dianggap menyimpang, dia didepak gereja. Hingga kini organisasi ini terus bahu membahu untuk menjadikan Israel sebagai penguasa dunia.

3. The Order of Nine Angles (ONA)

Organisasi pemuja setan ini muncul di Inggris Raya pada tahun 1980-an dan 1990-an. Anggota organisasi ini didoktrin sebagai individu yang menjadikan dirinya sebagai pribadi-pribadi yang unggul dan bijaksana, sehingga mereka tak segan-segan menghadapi tantangan yang mungkin saja melampaui kemampuan batas fisik dan mentalnya. Organisasi yang memiliki asosiasi dan kelompok-kelompok di Amerika Serikat, Eropa, Australia, Selandia Baru, Kanada, Rusia, dan Islandia ini tak segan-segan mengorbankan nyawa manusia dengan dalih untuk menghilangkan karakter manusia yang lemah.

4. Thule Society

Sebelum Nazi berkuasa, kelompok ini berpusat di Munich, Jerman, dan setelah organisasi yang dipimpin Hitler itu berkuasa, kelompok ini dimasukkan dalam organisasi bersebut. Thule berasal dari sebuah wilayah misterius di utara Yunani dimana di situ hidup makhluk yang disebut Hyperboreans dan dan dipercaya sebagai ras asli bangsa Arya. Organisasi ini dibentuk pada 17 Agustus 1918 oleh tiga orang, dimana dua di antaranya bernama Rudolf von Sebottendorff dan Lanz von Liebenfels. Organisasi ini dicurigai punya kaitan dengan Freemansonry dan Illuminati, karena tujuan organisasi ini juga untuk menciptakan Tatanan Dunia Baru. Mereka bahkan tak segan-segan membunuh dengan dalih untuk mengurangi populasi. Anggota organisasi ini bahkan mempraktekkan Seksual Black Magic dan Magic yang dicurigai bersumber dari Kaballah, ilmu sihir Yahudi kuno. Konon, masuknya organisasi ini ke Nazi lah yang membuat Hitler menjadi memiliki nafsu membunuh yang keji dan impoten. Ini terjadi serelah Hitler mengikuti ritual-ritual sesatnya itu.

5. Skull and Bones

Organisasi ini didirikan pada tahun 1832 oleh mahasiswa Yale bernama William Huntington Russel, seorang pemuda dari keluarga kaya raya yang mendapatkan hartanya dari bisnis perdagangan opium. Pada awal tahun 1830, Russel pergi ke Jerman untuk belajar selama setahun. Di sana, ia bertemu dengan pemimpin sebuah perkumpulan rahasia dan segera menjalin persahabatan dengannya. Perkumpulan ini disebut memiliki keterkaitan dengan okultisme dan menggunakan kepala orang mati sebagai lambangnya.

Saat itu, di Amerika sedang beredar sentimen anti Freemasonry yang sangat kuat. Partai anti mason didirikan dan banyak politikus berkampanye untuk melarang aktifitas Freemasonry. Dampak dari kampanye ini kemudian mempengaruhi semua organisasi yang bersifat rahasia, termasuk perkumpulan-perkumpulan mahasiswa.

Ketika Russel kembali ke Yale, ia menemukan kalau sentimen inipun mempengaruhi perkumpulan-perkumpulan yang ada di situ, termasuk perkumpulan favoritnya, Phi Betta Kappa, yang mulai menanggalkan tradisi kerahasiaan mereka.

Melihat situasi ini, Russel menjadi sangat marah dan bertekad untuk membalas dendam. Lalu ia mengumpulkan para mahasiswa dari keluarga berpengaruh dan mengajak mereka untuk mendirikan sebuah perkumpulan rahasia yang diberi nama The Brotherhood of Death atau The Order of the Skull and Bones yang kemudian berubah menjadi Skull and Bones saja. Salah satu perkumpulan rahasia paling berpengaruh di Amerika ini memliki ritual yang mengerikan, karena setelah 15 anggota baru terpilih, mereka harus menjalani ritual wajib seperti berbaring di dalam peti mati, bergulat di lumpur, mencium tengkorak dan memberikan pengakuan mengenai sejarah kehidupan seksual mereka di hadapan anggota-anggota lain. Namun demikian, dari perkumpulan ini lahir tokoh-tokoh penting seperti Henry Luce sang pendiri majalah Time, dan Frederick Smith sang pendiri FedEx.

6. Order of The Assassins

Nama organisasi ini berasal dari bahasa Arab Hashashin atau Hashashiyyin, dan didirikan oleh Hasan-i-Sabbah, seorang pengikut sekte Ismailiyah, sebuah sekte yang berkembang di kawasan Persia, khususnya Kairo, Suriah, dan sebagian kawasan Timur Tengah. Organisiasi ini merajalela selama hampir dua abad, tepatnya dari tahun 1090 hingga 1273. Korbannya adalah orang-orang ternama dan ditakuti oleh raja-raja, pangeran, para syekh, dan sultan. Organisasi ini bermarkas di Alamut (sekarang di sebelah barat Iran), dan memiliki anggota yang sangat loyal dan berani mati yang disebut Fidayeen. Organisasi ini dapat dianggap sebagai organisasi teroris pertama di dunia.

Ada prakiraan mengatakan kiamat akan terjadi pada bulan Desember 2012. Prakiraan ini ramai diperbincangkan orang di media masa cetak, media elektronik, dan lain-lain. Sebelumnya, sudah sering terdengar kabar burung yang memprediksikan bahwa kiamat akan terjadi pada waktu tak lama lagi. Ada yang bersumber dari peramal, ada yang konon bersumber dari penjaga pintu makam Nabi Muhammad Shallallahu ‘Alaihi wa Sallam, dlsb. Karena sudah sering kali timbul, buletin Tafsir kali ini mengajak pembaca untuk menelaah pokok-pokok masalah berkenaan kiamat sesuai ajaran al-Qur'an, agar pemahaman tidak melenceng, dan akidah tidak goyah gara-gara berbagai prakiraan atau berita burung.

Meluruskan Pengertian.

Dalam al-Qur'an terdapat 71 buah kata yaum al-qiyaamah. Artinya Hari Kiamat. Tidak ada kata al-qiyaamah yang berdiri sendiri, melainkan selalu didahului kata yaum sebagai mudhof, dan kata al-qiyaamah sebagai mudhofun ilaih. Yaum al-qiyaamah itu menunjuk waktu yang berlangsung lama, tidak sekedar sehari yang 24 jam. Yaum al-qiyaamah itu berlangsung bisa ribuan tahun. Sesungguhnya sehari di sisi Tuhanmu adalah seperti seribu tahun menurut perhitungan kamu. ( Q.S Al-Hajj 22:47). Sehari Hari Kiamat itu ialah kurun waktu terjadinya perubahan dan kehancuran benda-benda alam semesta ini. Perubahan dan kehancuran itu bukannya terjadi dalam waktu sehari 24 jam, dan bukan pula mendadak. Perubahan dan kehancuran itu akan terjadi bertahap-tahap. Selama Hari Kiamat itu langit 7 lapis, langit dunia, galaksi-galaksi, bintang-bintang, dan bumi dengan segala isinya akan diubah, dihancurkan, dan kemudian disusun kembali menjadi alam baru, terdiri dari Bumi Baru dan Langit Baru. Pada hari ketika bumi diganti dengan bumi yang lain, dan (demikian pula) langit. Dan mereka semuanya berkumpul untuk menghadap ke hadirat Allah Yang Maha Esa lagi Maha Perkasa (di Bumi baru dan Langit baru itu). (Q.S. Ibrahim 14:48). Bumi dan Langit yang ada sekarang disebut Alam Dunia, dan Bumi Baru dan Langit Baru itu nanti disebut Alam Mahsyar. Jika dicermati ayat-ayat Qur'an yang mengandung kata-kata yaum al-qiyaamah yang 71 itu, dapatlah dimengerti bahwa istilah Hari Kiamat mencakup macam-macam hari, yaitu :

1.hari kehancuran langit dan bumi ini total (yaum al-qiyaamah)

2.hari kebangkitan manusia sebelum menuju Alam Mahsyar (yaum al-ba'tsi)

3.hari keberangkatan manusia menuju Alam Mahsyar (yaum al-hasyri)

4.hari pengumpulan manusia di Alam Mahsyar (yaum al-jam'i)

5.hari pengelompokan manusia di Alam Mahsyar (yaumun majmuu')

6.hari ketakutan di Alam Mahsyar ( yaum at-Taghabun)

7.hari penghitungan amal di Alam Mahsyar (yaum al-hisab)

8.hari pembobotan amal di Alam Mahsyar (yaum al-wazni)

9.hari keputusan di Alam Mahsyar (yaum al-fashli)

10.hari kekal manusia di Alam Baqa' di Surga dan di Neraka (yaum alkhulud).

Sepuluh macam hari ini mempunyai bagian-bagian pula. Sepuluh macam hari ini disebut Hari Agama (Yaumu 'd-Diin). Sebelum hari kehancuran langit dan bumi ini secara total kita mengalami 7 hari yang silih berganti, yakni Ahad, Senin, Selasa, Rabu, Kamis, Jum'at, dan Sabtu. Tujuh hari ini disebut Hari Dunia, alias Hari Bumi, ditandai terbit dan tenggelamnya matahari. Diantara 7 Hari Dunia itu pasti ada hari akhir (al-yaum al-aakhir), yakni hari akhirnya setiap orang, yaitu hari kematiannya. Kematian seseorang atau beberapa orang atau sejumlah besar orang atau punahnya semua manusia dari muka bumi ini pada waktunya itu disebut Sa'ah. Sebagaimana ditunjuk oleh ayat-ayat al-Qur'an, antara lain surat Al-An'Am 6:31 dan 40; surat Al-A'raf 7: 87; surat Yusuf 12:107; surat Al-Hijr 15:85; surat An-Nahl 16:77; surat Al-Kahfi 18:21; surat Maryam 19:75; surat Thaahaa 20:15; surat Al-Anbiya 21:49; surat Al-Hajj 22:1, 7 dan 55; surat Al-Furqaan 25:11; surat Ar-Ruum 30:12, 14, 55; surat Luqman 31:34; surat Al-Ahzab 33:63; surat Fushshilat 41:47; surat As-Syuraa 42:17-18; surat Az-Zukhruf 43:61, 66, 85; surat Al-Jaatsiyah 45:27, 32; surat Muhammad 47:18; surat Al-Qamar 54:46, dan surat An-Naazi'at 79:42. Kehancuran atau perubahan benda-benda alam tertentu pada waktu tertentu disebut dengan bermacam sebutan, seperti alqari'ah, zalzalah, shookhoh, thoommah, dan lain sebagainya.

Selama ini terdapat kerancuan di kalangan kaum muslimin. Kerancuan yang pertama terletak pada istilah 'kiamat' yang diartikan kehancuran benda-benda alam mendadak dalam waktu satu hari saja. Bumi, langit, dan bintang-bintang akan serentak hancur pada hari itu. Yang kedua menyamakan 'kiamat' yang diartilkan peristiwa kehancuran mendadak itu tadi dengan yaum al-qiyaamah yang berkonotasi babak-babak waktu. Kiamat dengan yaum al-qiyaamah, dicampur adukkan. Ketiga, menyamakan 'kiamat' dengan 'Sa'ah', sehingga hampir semua kata Sa'ah dalam al-Qur'an dan Hadits diartikan 'kiamat', padahal kiamat itu berproses, sedangkan sa'ah mendadak (baghtatan)... Apa yang disebut-sebut sebagai kiamat selama ini seharusnya diganti dengan sebutan Sa'ah, sebab langit dan bumi ini baru mengalami perubahan dan kehancuran sebagian-sebagian saja, belum hancuran total.

Tahun 2012 Itu Sa'ah.

Sekarang bulan November 2009. Kalau kiamat akan terjadi tahun 2012, itu berarti 3 tahun kedepan. Jika dihitung dari hari Jum'at tgl. 27 November 2009 ini, itu beratti akan tetjadi pada kurang lebih 1.100-an hari lagi. Apa sajakah yang akan dialami oleh benda-benda di bumi, benda-benda di langit, dan benda-benda di alam raya ini dalam kurun waktu 1.100-an hari kedepan itu?

Yang sudah, sedang, dan akan tetjadi ialah perubahan-perubahan bertahap, bergilir, dan berkelanjutan. Gempa-gempa tektonik, gempa-gempa vulkanik, tanah longsot, banjir, angin puting beliung, bermacam-macam badai, pasang naik dan pasang surut air laut, perubahan-perubahan evolusif pada benda-benda langit dan galaksi-galaksi, merosotnya kadar panas matahari, kematian manusia dan kelahiran bayi-bayi, dan lain-lain. Tidak satu pun dapat kita pastikan detik kapan atau menit kapan terjadinya. Hanya Allah yang tahu pasti detik dan menitnya (innamaa 'ilmuhaa 'inda 'l-laah), dan bagi kita mungkin dirasakan mendadak (baghtatan). Karena tidak dapat dipastikan dan kemungkinan mendadak, maka itu disebut Qur'an dengan istilah SA'AH, bukan qiyaamah. Dan tak ada satu negeri pun melainkan Kami membinasakannya sebelum Hari Kiamat ... (Q.S. Al-Israa' 17:58). Termasuk semua manusia penghuninya. Hari Kiamat akan terjadi pada waktu dimana tidak ada lagi manusia yang hidup di bumi ini, manusia sudah punah. Sa'ah terjadi selagi manusia masih menghuni bumi ini. Hari Kiamat itu diterangkan panjang lebar dalam puluhan ayat al-Qur'an, dan tidak dinyatakan sebagai 'rahasia' yang hanya diketahui Allah. Yang dirahasiakan ialah Sa'ah, sebagaimana dijelaskan dalam sutat Al-A'raaf 7:187 dan surat Al-Ahzab 33 :63.

Maka dapatlah dipastikan, secara ilmul yaqin, bahwa di tahun 2012 belum dan tidak akan tetjadi Hari Kiamat dan Kiamat. Sebaliknya yang terjadi hanyalah Sa'ah. Dari dulu hingga detik ini pun telah tetjadi sa'ah-sa'ah, berupa kematian manusia atau pun perubahan-perubahan pada benda-benda alam. Inilah sikap dan hujjah yang harus difahami dan dipegang oleh setiap muslim ketika menghadapi berbagai isu kiamat, baik yang datang dari orang-orang kafir maupun yang datang dari orang-orang Islam yang tidak faham atau salah faham. Inilah pula sikap dan hujah yang harus difahami dan dipegang oleh setiap muslim menghadapi orang-orang yang tidak beriman kepada keterangan ayat-ayat al-Qur'an.

Problem Internal.

Bukan soal kiamat 2012 yang seharusnya diramaikan perbincangannya, dan bukan pula perbincangannya itu yang mengherankan, melainkan jauh lebih mendasar daripada itu, yaitu salah-fahamnya umat Islam tentang akidah Islam mengenai Hari Kiamat, dan kejumudan umat ini dalam kungkungan taklid buta sehingga lelap dalam kesalahan yang fatal betabad-abad. ltu semua disebabkan sikap 'kufur juhud' atau 'kufur 'aniid' terhadap ayat-ayat al-Qur'an. Kufur juhud atau aniid itu disebabkan oleh cara berpikir yang masih jauh dari cara berpikir qur'ani (mantiq al-qur'an). Umat dan ulama-ulama masih terlalu banyak yang berpikir menurut cara pikir Barat atau cata pikir Timur atau cata pikir Liberal. Cara-cara pikir yang dipakai itulah yang membuat umat ini tidak faham jiwa dan cita al-Qur'an. Demikian kesimpulan (alm) Dr. Muhammad Iqbal dalam bukunya Membangun Kembali Pikiran Agama Dalam Islam. Umat ini disesatkan tanpa sadar oleh pikiran klasik yang mengaburkan jiwa Islam. Umat ini terperosok dalanm pikiran materialistik yang tentu saja mengandung atheisme, kata beliau.

Perbaikan akidah agaknya masih jauh, terlebih kalau Departemen Agama RI membiarkan saja kerancuan antara Sa'ah dan kiamat. Kata 'Sa'ah diartikan Hari Kiamat 19 kali, diartikan 'kiamat' 10 kali, diartikan Hari Bangkit 5 kali, diartikan 'kematian' 1 kali, dan diartikan 'kebangkitan' 1 kali dalam Terjemahan al-Qur'an Departemen Agama. Yang mana yang benar? Bahkan pada ayat 46 surat al-Qamar satu diartikan hari kiamat dan satunya lagi diartikan kiamat. Ini menunjukkan adanya keraguan dan mengakibatkan kesalahan.

"Sa'ah"

Beberapa Isyarat Dari Rasulullah Nabi Muhammad SAW— Di Sinilah Tempat Turunnya Nabi Isa Alaihis Salam

Dalam Shahih Al-Bukhari dan Shahih Muslim terdapat riwayat dari Abu Hurairah Radhiyallahu Anhu dimana Rasulullah saw. bersabda,

"Pada malam aku diisra'kan, aku bertemu Nabi Musa. Baiklah aku jelaskan cirinya. Ternyata dia adalah seorang lelaki jangkung—maksudnya tinggi—, (rambut) kepalanya berombak, seperti orang dari Syanu'ah. Rasul bersabda, 'Dan aku bertemu pula Nabi Isa. Baiklah aku jelaskan cirinya. 'Lalu beliau katakan, ' Aku lihat dia (berkulit) kemerahan, seolah-olah dia baru keluar dari 'dimas'—maksudnya kamar mandi.'"

Dan menurut riwayat Al-Bukhari dari Ibnu Umar Radhiyallahu Anhu, Rasulullah saw. bersabda,

"Aku melihat Nabi Musa, Nabi Isa dan Nabi Ibrahim. Adapun Isa (berkulit) kemerahan, (berambut) keriting dan berdada bidang. Adapun Musa (berkulit) sawo matang, berperawakan tinggi-besar, berlambut lurus seperti orang Zuth."

Sedang menurut riwayat Al-Bukhari dan Muslim dari Ibnu Umar Radhiyallahu Anhu, bahwa dia berkata, "Pada suatu hari Rasulullah saw. menceritakan tentang si picak Dajjal di tengah orang banyak, beliau bersabda,

"Sesungguhnya Allah itu tidak picak. Ketahuilah bahwa si Picak Dajjal itu cacat mata kanannya. Matanya bagaikan anggur yang mengapung (di atas air). Allah memperlihatkan kepadaku dalam mimpi di sisi Ka'bah seorang lelaki berkulit sawo matang dengan warna yang paling indah yang pernah dilihat pada kulit siapapun. Dia biarkan ujung rambutnya terurai antara kedua pundaknya. Rambutnya berombak, kepalanya (seolah-olah) meneteskan air. Dia letakkan kedua tangannya di pundak dua orang lelaki sambil berthawaf mengelilingi Ka'bah. Maka aku bertanya, 'Siapakah ini?' Mereka menjawab, 'Al-Masih Putra Maryam.' Dan di belakangnya aku melihat seorang lelaki berambut pendek-keriting, cacat mata kanannya, sangat mirip dengan Ibnu Qathan. Dia meletakkan kedua tangannya di pundak seorang lelaki sambil berthawaf mengelilingi Ka'bah. Maka aku berkata, 'Siapakah ini?' Mereka menjawab, 'Si Picak Dajjal.'"

Hadist ini ada mutabi'nya diriwayatkan oleh 'Ubaidillah dari Nafi'.

Al-Bukhari meriwayatkan pula dari Salim, dari ayahnya, dia berkata, Tidak, demi Allah. Rasulullah saw. tidak mengatakan Nabi Isa itu berkulit merah, tetapi beliau mengatakan:

"Ketika aku tidur, aku (bermimpi) thawaf di sekeliling Ka'bah. Tiba-tiba aku melihat seorang berkulit sawo matang, berambut lurus, berjalan pelan diapit dua orang lelaki. Kepalanya (seolah-olah) meneteskan air. Maka aku bertanya, 'Siapakah ini?' Mereka menjawab, 'Inilah Al-Masih Putra Maryam.' Lalu aku pergi sambil menoleh. Tiba-tiba aku melihat seorang berkulit merah, berperawakan tinggi-besar, berambut keriting, mata kanannya cacat, matanya bagaikan anggur yang mengapung (di atas air). Aku bertanya, 'Siapakah ini?' Mereka menjawab, 'Dajjal.' Orang yang paling mirip dengannya adalah Ibnu Qathan."

Kata Az-Zuhri, "Ibnu Qathan adalah seorang lelaki dari kabilah Khuza'ah, meninggal pada masa Jahiliyah."

Dalam riwayat An-Nawwas bin Sam'an, Rasulullah saw. bersabda,

"Nabi Isa akan turun di menara putih sebelah timur kota Damaskus, mengenakan dua baju berwarna tanah merah, meletakkan kedua telapak tangannya pada sayap dua orang malaikat. Apabila dia menundukkan kepala, maka (seolah-olah) meneteskan air, dan apabila mengangkat kepala, maka (seolah-olah) berjatuhanlah tetesan-tetesan itu bagai manik-manik mutiara. Dan tidak ada seorang kafir pun yang mencium bau nafasnya melainkan mati. Padahal nafasnya sejauh matanya memandang."

Inilah hadist yang paling mahsyur tetnatng tempat turunnya Isa Al-Masih, yaitu di atas menara putih timur kota Damaskus. Namun dalam sebuah kitab ditemui juga, bahwa Nabi Isa as akan turun di menara putih sebelah timur Masjid Jami kota Damaskus.

Barangkali riwayat inilah yang dihapal dengan baik (mahfuzh). Sedang riwayat yang mengatakan "bahwa beliau turun di menara putih timur kota Damaskus," itu merupakan ungkapan yang telah berubah, yakni ungkapan yang oleh perawinya diucapkan menurut apa yang dia pahami. Karena kenyataannya, di Damaskus tidak ada menara yang disebut "Al-Manarah Asy-Syarqiyah" (Menara Timur) selain menara yang terletak di sebelah timur Masjid Jami Umawi.

Dan agaknya pengertian inilah lebih pas dan cocok, karena ketika turunnya Nabi Isa itu iqamat telah dikumandangkan. Maka seseorang mempersilahkan beliau: "Wahai imam kaum muslimin, wahai Ruh Allah, majulah."

Lalu beliau menjawab: "Majulah kamu, karena iqamat ini dikumandangkan untukmu." Dan dalam riwayat lain dikatakan: "Sebagian kamu adalah pemimpin atas sebagian yang lain."

Sekarang ini, bangunan menara tersebut telah direnovasi pada tahun 741 H, menggunakan batu-batu putih. Pembangunannya dilaksanakan atas biaya orang-orang Nasrani, yang telah membakar menara sebelumnya di tempat itu.

Barangkali ini pun salah satu bukti kenabian Muhammad saw. yang tampak dengan mata kepala dimana Allah menakdirkan pembangunan menara ini atas biaya kaum Nasrani sampai dengan turunnya Nabi Isa bin Maryam kelak. Lalu beliau akan membunuh babi, mematahkan salib, tidak menerima upeti dari mereka.

Tetapi barangsiapa yang masuk Islam, maka diterima Islamnya. Dan kalau tidak, maka dibunuh. Begitupun hukum yang akan beliau putuskan terhadap orang-orang kafir di belahan bumi yang lain pada waktu itu. Demikianlah di antara pemberitahuan mengenai apa yang akan dilakukan Isa Al-Masih dan syariat yang diterapkannnya, yaitu bahwa yang akan beliau laksanakan tak lain adalah syariat Islam yang suci ini.

"Alhamdulillah, terima kasih ya Allah engkau jadikan kami lahir dalam keadaan Islam dan wafatkan juga kami dalam keadaan Islam. Amin ya Rabbal Alamin…."

A South Carolina mother who contracted a rare flesh-eating bacteria infection days after giving birth to twins is being transferred to a rehabilitation hospital Thursday, now that she has been upgraded to good condition, hospital officials said.

Lana Kuykendall, 36, has undergone about 20 surgical procedures, including skin grafts, at Greenville Memorial Hospital to contain and treat the spread of the necrotizing fasciitis, hospital officials said. She has been in the Greenville, South Carolina, hospital since May 11, four days after giving birth to twins Ian and Abigail in Atlanta.

Her aggressive surgical intervention didn't require amputations, as in the case of 24-year-old Aimee Copeland of Georgia, who also contracted necrotizing fasciitis in May and lost her hands, part of her abdomen, a leg and a foot.

Kuykendall also underwent extensive hyperbaric oxygen therapy, hospital officials said.

She is off antibiotics and is recovering from the recent skin grafting surgery on her legs, said Dr. Bill Kelly, hospital epidemiologist for Greenville Hospital System.

Flesh-eating bacteria victim 'courageous'

"Her prognosis is good, but we know she faces a long rehabilitative process," Kelly said in a hospital statement.

Kuykendall is being transferred to the adjacent Roger C. Peace Rehabilitation Hospital, officials said.

Her husband, Darren, said in a hospital statement that his wife is able to stand and take small steps with assistance from a physical therapist.

"This is a wonderful milestone on her road to recovery," Darren Kuykendall said.

His wife is spending more time with their twins, he said. "Lana's strength is continually improving, and she has been able to hold Abigail and Ian unassisted for the first time," he said.

Kuykendall, a paramedic, went to the hospital after noticing a rapidly expanding bruise on her leg, her husband, a firefighter, said last month. She was diagnosed then with necrotizing fasciitis.

A number of bacteria, which are common in the environment but rarely cause serious infections, can lead to the disease. When they get into the bloodstream -- such as through a cut -- doctors typically move aggressively to excise even healthy tissue near the infection site in hopes of ensuring that none of the dangerous bacteria remain.

The disease attacks and destroys healthy tissue and is fatal about 20% of the time, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Dr. William Schaffner, chairman of the Department of Preventive Medicine at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, estimated that fewer than 250 such cases occur each year in the United States, though estimates are imprecise because doctors do not have to report the cases to health authorities.

Paraguay president faces impeachment after deadly clash

Paraguay's president is under pressure after an impeachment vote in the lower chamber of Congress on Thursday, but Fernando Lugo says he will not resign.

Lugo's presidency became endangered when a liberal party that backed him decided to join an opposition party in supporting impeachment.

The impeachment proceedings follow a June 15 incident in which police clashed with landless peasants, resulting in 17 deaths.

The document that lawmakers voted on includes nine points arguing for Lugo's impeachment, one of which was the recent clash.

The congressmen also cited insecurity, nepotism and a controversial land purchase.

The lower chamber voted in favor of impeachment by a margin of 76-1, and the issue will now go before the Paraguayan Senate. The Senate could take up debate on impeachment as early as Thursday.

Paraguay's president admits 'love child'

Lugo said immediately after the vote that he will not offer his resignation.

"Faced with this challenge, this president announces that he is not going to resign his post and that he submits himself, fully, to the constitution and the laws to face this impeachment, with all its consequences," he said.

By refusing to resign, he is honoring the will of the people who elected him, Lugo said.

On June 15, peasants in eastern Paraguay fired on police trying to evict them from private property, initiating the deadly confrontation, local authorities and state-run media said.

The violence occurred in Curuguaty, a remote community about 240 kilometers (150 miles) northeast of the Paraguayan capital, Asuncion, near the Brazilian border.

In the immediate aftermath of the incident, Lugo replaced his interior minister and national police chief.

Four of Lugo's ministers resigned Thursday after their political party withdrew its support from the president.

Lugo could become a victim of a conflict between rural landowners and poor farmers that is a century old, said Luis Galeano, a professor at the Catholic University in the capital.

Details of the what transpired in Curuguaty remain unclear, and even if it was the police who were attacked, Paraguayans are focused on the number of dead, he said.

But the fact that Lugo lost all his support in the lower house of Congress -- only one lawmaker voted against impeachment -- is a sign that politics are at play, too, Galeano said.

The next presidential elections are not until April, but already there is a power struggle among lawmakers.

"This social conflict is being taken advantage of by the political parties," Galeano said. "The congressmen have their own interests."

It was not surprising that members of Lugo's own party voted his impeachment, he said, because they were already upset that a number of ministers he had named were from outside the party.

The impeachment is "an expression of the political process in Paraguay," Galeano said. "It's very tangled."

Lugo decided to fight the impeachment proceedings, the professor thinks, because he wants to avoid the perception that he was the only one responsible for the deadly clash.

Jaya's call has echo all over the World

Reiterating her party's support for the candidature of former Lok Sabha Speaker P A Sangma for the Presidential polls, AIADMK supremo and Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today said she would be happy if other parties back his candidature to the top post.

In a brief chat with reporters before leaving for Kodanadu in Nilgiris district, Jayalalithaa said she had already expressed her party's support for Sangma one month back, to be precise on 17 May last month.

'There is no change in our party's stand', she said.

Jayalalithaa said over the past one month various leaders were in touch with her from time to time on the issue of Presidential polls.

She said some of the leaders tried to enlist her party's support for former President A P J Abdul Kalam's candidature. 'Now that Dr Kalam himself had made it clear that he will not contest, it is out of question now', she said and added that she would be happy if other parties extend their support to tribal leader Sangma.

Asked whether she would seek the support of Trinamool Congress leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for Sangma's candidature, Jayalalithaa said Mamata had spoken to her and sought the AIADMK's support for Dr Kalam.

'At that time I told Ms Mamata that I had already announced my support for Sangma', Jayalalithaa said.

When asked whether she would speak to Mamata again, she said, 'let us leave the decision to her'.

Jayalalithaa, along with her Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik were the first to back Sangma for the top job, saying no tribal candidate had so far been nominated for the post.

BJP to back tribal leader for top post

Within hours Tamilnadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa reiterated her support to former Lok Sabha Speaker P A Sangma for Presidential polls and said other parties should support him, BJP announced its support to Sangma to pit him against UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee.

The party argued that it was its duty as the main Opposition party not to allow a 'walkover' to Congress which did not 'consult' it.

Announcing the decision at a press conference, BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley said the main opposition party could not support a government which is using 'various manoeuvres', including investigative agencies, to rope in parties to stay in power.

'BJP has decided to support the candidature' of Sangma, whose candidature has been proposed by AIADMK and BJD, Swaraj said.

Describing Sangma as 'the country's tall leader' as also North East's 'tallest leader', she appealed to allies like Shiv Sena and JD-U to give up their opposition to his candidature.

Swaraj and Jaitley regretted that BJP could not persuade its allies and have a consensus in the NDA over the issue but insisted that it would have no impact on the 'mature' coalition.

To press her point, she noted that Shiv Sena had earlier also voted for UPA nominee Pratibha Patil during the last Presidential poll even though NDA had opposed her candidature but still remained part of the alliance.

Swaraj and Jaitley said BJP was trying to bring Trinamool Congress on board but refused to reveal how it was being done.

Meanwhile, Sangma has thanked the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiromani Akali Dal for their support to him in the Presidential poll. He also said he was hopeful of winning the election.

When asked Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee would support him, Sangma said he had spoken to Mamata and was hopeful of getting her support. The Trinamool Congress sources, however, said they were still undecided on whether or not to support Sangma.

Sangma also said that since the voting for the Presidential poll takes place through secret ballot, he was hopeful that the conscience of the voters would be in his favour.

Gambar-gambar di atas ditemukan pada balok atas penyangga langit-langit sebuah ruangan kuil kerajaan Mesir Kuno, yang lokasinya berada di Abydos, beberapa ratus mil sebelah selatan Kairo dan plato Giza. Objek-objek pada gambar tersebut, dilihat dari perlengkapan fisiknya adalah pesawat yang dioperasikan di dalam lapisan berudara seperti di permukaan bumi, bukan untuk ruang angkasa yang hampa udara. Karena itu digunakan sayap samping dan ekor serta baling-baling. Kuil Abydos ini dibangun untuk Dewa Osiris oleh firaun Mesir kuno, Seti I (1306-1290 SM) dan diselesaikan oleh penerusnya, Ramses II. (Pesawat terbangkah itu ..? Who Knows… ?)

7.Borobudur

Borobudur adalah nama sebuah candi Buddha yang terletak di Borobudur, Magelang, Jawa Tengah. Lokasi candi adalah kurang lebih 100 km di sebelah barat daya Semarang dan 40 km di sebelah barat laut Yogyakarta. Candi ini didirikan oleh para penganut agama Buddha Mahayana sekitar tahun 800-an Masehi pada masa pemerintahan wangsa Syailendra.
Nama Borobudur
Banyak teori yang berusaha menjelaskan nama candi ini. Salah satunya menyatakan bahwa nama ini kemungkinan berasal dari kata Sambharabhudhara, yaitu artinya “gunung” (bhudara) di mana di lereng-lerengnya terletak teras-teras. Selain itu terdapat beberapa etimologi rakyat lainnya. Misalkan kata borobudur berasal dari ucapan “para Buddha” yang karena pergeseran bunyi menjadi borobudur. Penjelasan lain ialah bahwa nama ini berasal dari dua kata “bara” dan “beduhur”. Kata bara konon berasal dari kata vihara, sementara ada pula penjelasan lain di mana bara berasal dari bahasa Sansekerta yang artinya kompleks candi atau biara dan beduhur artinya ialah “tinggi”, atau mengingatkan dalam bahasa Bali yang berarti “di atas”. Jadi maksudnya ialah sebuah biara atau asrama yang berada di tanah tinggi.
Sejarawan J.G. de Casparis dalam disertasinya untuk mendapatkan gelar doktor pada 1950 berpendapat bahwa Borobudur adalah tempat pemujaan. Berdasarkan prasasti Karangtengah dan Kahulunan, Casparis memperkirakan, pendiri Borobudur adalah raja dari dinasti Syailendra bernama Samaratungga sekitar 824 M. Bangunan raksasa itu baru dapat diselesaikan pada masa putrinya, Ratu Pramudawardhani. Pembangunan Borobudur diperkirakan memakan waktu setengah abad.
Struktur Borobudur
Candi Borobudur berbentuk punden berundak, yang terdiri dari enam tingkat berbentuk bujur sangkar, tiga tingkat berbentuk bundar melingkar dan sebuah stupa utama sebagai puncaknya. Selain itu tersebar di semua tingkat-tingkatannya beberapa stupa.
Borobudur yang bertingkat sepuluh menggambarkan secara jelas filsafat mazhab Mahayana. bagaikan sebuah kitab, Borobudur menggambarkan sepuluh tingkatan Bodhisattva yang harus dilalui untuk mencapai kesempurnaan menjadi Buddha.
Bagian kaki Borobudur melambangkan Kamadhatu, yaitu dunia yang masih dikuasai oleh kama atau “nafsu rendah”. Bagian ini sebagian besar tertutup oleh tumpukan batu yang diduga dibuat untuk memperkuat konstruksi candi. Pada bagian yang tertutup struktur tambahan ini terdapat 120 panel cerita Kammawibhangga. Sebagian kecil struktur tambahan itu disisihkan sehingga orang masih dapat melihat relief pada bagian ini.
Empat lantai dengan dinding berelief di atasnya oleh para ahli dinamakan Rupadhatu. Lantainya berbentuk persegi. Rupadhatu adalah dunia yang sudah dapat membebaskan diri dari nafsu, tetapi masih terikat oleh rupa dan bentuk. Tingkatan ini melambangkan alam antara yakni, antara alam bawah dan alam atas. Pada bagian Rupadhatu ini patung-patung Buddha terdapat pada ceruk-ceruk dinding di atas ballustrade atau selasar.
Mulai lantai kelima hingga ketujuh dindingnya tidak berelief. Tingkatan ini dinamakan Arupadhatu (yang berarti tidak berupa atau tidak berwujud). Denah lantai berbentuk lingkaran. Tingkatan ini melambangkan alam atas, di mana manusia sudah bebas dari segala keinginan dan ikatan bentuk dan rupa, namun belum mencapai nirwana. Patung-patung Buddha ditempatkan di dalam stupa yang ditutup berlubang-lubang seperti dalam kurungan. Dari luar patung-patung itu masih tampak samar-samar.
Tingkatan tertinggi yang menggambarkan ketiadaan wujud dilambangkan berupa stupa yang terbesar dan tertinggi. Stupa digambarkan polos tanpa lubang-lubang. Di dalam stupa terbesar ini, diduga dulu ada sebuah patung penggambaran Adibuddha. Patung yang diduga berasal dari stupa terbesar ini kini diletakkan dalam sebuah museum arkeologi, beberapa ratus meter dari candi Borobudur. Patung ini dikenal dengan nama unfinished Buddha.
Di masa lalu, beberapa patung Buddha bersama dengan 30 batu dengan relief, dua patung singa, beberapa batu berbentuk kala, tangga dan gerbang dikirimkan kepada Raja Thailand, Chulalongkorn yang mengunjungi Hindia Belanda (kini Indonesia) pada tahun 1896 sebagai hadiah dari pemerintah Hindia Belanda ketika itu.
Borobudur tidak memiliki ruang-ruang pemujaan seperti candi-candi lain. Yang ada ialah lorong-lorong panjang yang merupakan jalan sempit. Lorong-lorong dibatasi dinding mengelilingi candi tingkat demi tingkat. Di lorong-lorong inilah umat Buddha diperkirakan melakukan upacara berjalan kaki mengelilingi candi ke arah kanan. Bentuk bangunan tanpa ruangan dan struktur bertingkat-tingkat ini diduga merupakan perkembangan dari bentuk punden berundak, yang merupakan bentuk arsitektur asli dari masa prasejarah Indonesia.

Struktur Borobudur tidak memakai semen sama sekali, melainkan sistem interlock yaitu seperti balok-balok Lego yang bisa menempel tanpa lem.
Relief
Di setiap tingkatan dipahat relief-relief pada dinding candi. Relief-relief ini dibaca sesuai arah jarum jam atau disebut mapradaksina dalam bahasa Jawa Kuna yang berasal dari bahasa Sansekerta daksina yang artinya ialah timur. Relief-relief ini bermacam-macam isi ceritanya, antara lain ada relief-relief tentang wiracarita Ramayana. Ada pula relief-relief cerita jataka.
Pembacaan cerita-cerita relief ini senantiasa dimulai, dan berakhir pada pintu gerbang sisi timur disetiap tingkatnya, mulainya disebelah kiri dan berakhir disebelah kanan pintu gerbang itu. Maka secara nyata bahwa sebelah timur adalah tangga naik yang sesungguhnya (utama) dan menuju puncak candi, artinya bahwa candi menghadap ke timur meskipun sisi-sisi lainnya serupa benar.

Karmawibhangga
Salah satu ukiran Karmawibhangga di dinding candi Borobudur (lantai 0 sudut tenggara)Sesuai dengan makna simbolis pada kaki candi, relief yang menghiasi dinding batur yang terselubung tersebut, menggambarkan hukum karma. Deretan relief tersebut bukan merupakan cerita seri ( serial ), tetapi pada setiap pigura menggambarkan suatu cerita yang mempunyai korelasi sebab akibat. Relief tersebut tidak saja memberi gambaran terhadap perbuatan tercela manusia disertai dengan hukuman yang akan diperolehnya, tetapi juga perbuatan baik manusia dan pahala. Secara keseluruhan merupakan penggambaran kehidupan manusia dalam lingkaran lahir – hidup – mati (samsara) yang tidak pernah berakhir, dan oleh agama Buddha rantai tersebutlah yang akan diakhiri untuk menuju kesempurnaan.
Lalitawistara
Merupakan penggambaran riwayat Sang Buddha dalam deretan relief-relief (tetapi bukan merupakan riwayat yang lengkap ) yang dimulai dari turunnya Sang Buddha dari sorga Tusita, dan berakhir dengan wejangan pertama di Taman Rusa dekat kota Banaras. Relief ini berderet dari tangga pada sisi sebelah selatan, setelah melampui deretan relief sebanyak 27 pigura yang dimulai dari tangga sisi timur. Ke 27 pigura tersebut menggambarkan kesibukan, baik di sorga maupun di dunia, sebagai persiapan untuk menyambut hadirnya penjelmaan terakhir Sang Bodhisattwa selaku calon Buddha. Relief tersebut menggambarkan lahirnya Sang Buddha di arcapada ini sebagai Pangeran Siddhartha, putra Raja Suddhodana dan Permaisuri Maya dari Negeri Kapilawastu. Relief tersebut berjumlah 120 pigura, yang berakhir dengan wejangan pertama, yang secara simbolis dinyatakan sebagai Pemutaran Roda Dharma, ajaran Sang Buddha di sebut dharma yang juga berarti “hukum” ,sedangkan dharma dilambangkan sebagai roda.
Jataka dan Awadana
Jataka adalah cerita tentang Sang Buddha sebelum dilahirkan sebagai Pangeran Siddharta. Isinya merupakan pokok penonjolan perbuatan baik, yang membedakan Sang Bodhisattwa dari mahluk lain manapun juga. Sesungguhnya, pengumpulan jasa / perbuatan baik merupakan tahapan persiapan dalam usaha menuju keringkat ke buddha an.
Sedangkan Awadana, pada dasarnya hampir sama dengan Jataka akan tetapi pelakunya bukan Sang Bodhisattwa, melainkan orang lain dan ceritanya dihimpun dalam kitab Diwyawadana yang berarti perbuatan mulia kedewaan, dan kitab Awadanasataka atau seratus cerita Awadana. Pada relief candi Borobudur jataka dan awadana, diperlakukan sama, artinya keduanya terdapat dalam deretan yang sama tanpa dibedakan. Himpunan yang paling terkenal dari kehidupan Sang Bodhisattwa adalah Jatakamala atau untaian cerita Jataka, karya penyair Aryasura dan jang hidup dalam abad ke-4 Masehi.
Gandawyuha
Merupakan deretan relief menghiasi dinding lorong ke 2,adalah cerita Sudhana yang berkelana tanpa mengenal lelah dalam usahanya mencari Pengetahuan Tertinggi tentang Kebenaran Sejati oleh Sudhana. Penggambarannya dalam 460 pigura didasarkan pada kitab suci Buddha Mahayana yang berjudul Gandawyuha, dan untuk bagian penutupnya berdasarkan cerita kitab lainnya yaitu Bhadracari.
Tahapan pembangunan Borobudur
Tahap pertama
Masa pembangunan Borobudur tidak diketahui pasti (diperkirakan antara 750 dan 850 M). Pada awalnya dibangun tata susun bertingkat. Sepertinya dirancang sebagai piramida berundak. tetapi kemudian diubah. Sebagai bukti ada tata susun yang dibongkar.
Tahap kedua
Pondasi Borobudur diperlebar, ditambah dengan dua undak persegi dan satu undak lingkaran yang langsung diberikan stupa induk besar.
Tahap ketiga
Undak atas lingkaran dengan stupa induk besar dibongkar dan dihilangkan dan diganti tiga undak lingkaran. Stupa-stupa dibangun pada puncak undak-undak ini dengan satu stupa besar di tengahnya.
Tahap keempat
Ada perubahan kecil seperti pembuatan relief perubahan tangga dan lengkung atas pintu.
Ikhtisar waktu proses pemugaran Candi Borobudur
Foto pertama Borobudur dari tahun 1873. Bendera Belanda tampak pada stupa utama candi.1814 – Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, Gubernur Jenderal Britania Raya di Jawa, mendengar adanya penemuan benda purbakala di desa Borobudur. Raffles memerintahkan H.C. Cornelius untuk menyelidiki lokasi penemuan, berupa bukit yang dipenuhi semak belukar.
1873 – monografi pertama tentang candi diterbitkan.
1900 – pemerintahan Hindia Belanda menetapkan sebuah panitia pemugaran dan perawatan candi Borobudur.
1907 – Theodoor van Erp memimpin pemugaran hingga tahun 1911.
1926 – Borobudur dipugar kembali, tapi terhenti pada tahun 1940 akibat krisis malaise dan Perang Dunia II.
1956 – pemerintah Indonesia meminta bantuan UNESCO. Prof. Dr. C. Coremans datang ke Indonesia dari Belgia untuk meneliti sebab-sebab kerusakan Borobudur.
1963 – pemerintah Indonesia mengeluarkan surat keputusan untuk memugar Borobudur, tapi berantakan setelah terjadi peristiwa G-30-S.
1968 – pada konferensi-15 di Perancis, UNESCO setuju untuk memberi bantuan untuk menyelamatkan Borobudur.
1971 – pemerintah Indonesia membentuk badan pemugaran Borobudur yang diketuai Prof.Ir.Roosseno.
Batu peringatan pemugaran candi Borobudur dengan bantuan UNESCO1972 – International Consultative Committee dibentuk dengan melibatkan berbagai negara dan Roosseno sebagai ketuanya. Komite yang disponsori UNESCO menyediakan 5 juta dolar Amerika Serikat dari biaya pemugaran 7.750 juta dolar Amerika Serikat. Sisanya ditanggung Indonesia.
10 Agustus 1973 – Presiden Soeharto meresmikan dimulainya pemugaran Borobudur; pemugaran selesai pada tahun 1984
21 Januari 1985 – terjadi serangan bom yang merusakkan beberapa stupa pada Candi Borobudur yang kemudian segera diperbaiki kembali. Serangan dilakukan oleh kelompok Islam ekstrem yang dipimpin Habib Husein Ali Alhabsyi.
1991 – Borobudur ditetapkan sebagai Warisan Dunia UNESCO.

Dari pantauan detikFinance, Kamis (21/6/2012), terlihat ada beberapa produsen yang membuka toko alas kaki termasuk sepatu sekolah. Mereka adalah Ando, Homyped, Carvil, dan Cafu. Semua membuat konsep 'back to school' untuk menarik pelanggan.

"Karena besok tahun ajaran baru, maka kita menyiasati dengan menjual produk-produk sekolah dan harganya pun kompetitif," ujar seorang penjaga toko Ando di PRJ, JIExpo, Kemayoran, Jakarta, Kamis (21/6/2012).

Terlihat toko-toko penjual sepatu sekolah ini diserbu oleh banyak pengunjung yang rata-rata membawa anaknya.

Selain itu ada juga penjual sepatu olahraga bermerek League. Harga sepatu yang dijual Rp 300.000-Rp 400.000 dengan diskon 50%.

Toko-toko di PRJ ini pada Senin-Kamis buka mulai 15.30-22.00 WIB, sementara Jumat buka 15.30-23.00. Sabtu dan Minggu buka pukul 10.00-23.00 WIB.

Search the investment press for opportunities in timber products in tropical growing areas such as Costa Rica or Sri Lanka. Yes, they can be politically unstable but when peace comes the things, they have been fighting for are still growing and in demand. Global Glut Going Nowhere

The drop in gas prices over the last month has been a relief to us all. The economic sanctions placed by the European Union, Canada and the U.S. on Iran has simply shifted the flow of Iranian crude oil from west to east. The net result has been more oil on the global market with China, India and Russia picking up cheaper oil from Iran due to the lack of competition from western buyers. One would think that cheaper oil to the BRIC countries would be just the catalyst needed to help them develop their own internal demand for goods and services through the creation and evolution of their own middle class. Unfortunately, we are in an economic phase of global deleveraging and even the stimulus of low fuel prices will not keep their engines turning fast enough to save us from a second half slowdown here in the U.S.

The thesis of those who run our economy has been: If we can just provide enough economic grease to keep our own wheels turning the development of BRIC economies will, eventually, create demand for our goods and services. This is still probably true in the long run and the forward demand projection can be used to our advantage through tracking commercial trader purchases via the commitment of traders report. What a different world it has become when our economic horse has become hitched to someone else's wagon.

China has been trying to engineer a soft landing for their economy through government expenditures on infrastructure and the attraction of foreign direct investment. The struggle can be seen in their manufacturing output, which has declined for seven straight months. They've also lowered their lending reserve requirement to stimulate financing which has dropped by 19% year over year and is at its slowest pace since Q1 of 2007. The Chinese situation looks hopeful compared to India. The trouble in India is as much political as it is structural. Indian politics are confusing even to the Indian newspapers. It's easy to go from the Times of India to India Press or any one of their nearly 2,000 daily publications and find contradictory information. Foreign businesses find it nearly impossible to find the right agencies for the right permits. Even if one does, it is quite possible that the rules will not only change but, be made retroactive thus, invalidating the entire business plan of the entity that just put the whole package together. This is exactly what happened to Wal-Mart between December of 2011 and February of this year. Permits were voided and taxes created by the new policy were made retroactive. Foreign direct investment is drying up rather than fighting its way through the bureaucratic red tape.

This still leaves Brazil and Russia to save us. Brazil just passed England to become the sixth largest global economy. However, Brazil's balance of trade slipped into negative territory early this year for the first time since the economic crisis and once again ten years prior to that. Furthermore, their latest GDP readings were just positive enough, 0.34% to escape the technicality of recession. They are battling the decline by cutting interest rates for the seventh time in a row. This easing cycle has seen their rates decline by more than 400 basis points, including May's cut.

Finally, Russia's economy is shepherded by the fluctuations of natural resource prices on one hand and Vladimir Putin's political inclinations on the other. Ms. Brown, 35, is not taking hCG to help her bear a child. She believes that by combining the hormone injections with a 500-calorie-a-day diet, she will achieve a kind of weight-loss nirvana: losing fat in all the right places without feeling tired or hungry. “I had a friend who did it before her wedding,” Ms. Brown said. “She looks great.”

Women like Ms. Brown are streaming into doctors’ offices and weight-loss clinics all over the country, paying upward of $1,000 a month for a consultation, a supply of the hormone and the syringes needed to deliver it. More than 50 years after a doctor at a Roman clinic began promoting hCG as a dieting aid, it is as popular as ever, even though there is scant evidence that it makes any difference.

The regimen combines daily injections with a near-starvation diet, and patients, mostly women, are often enticed by promises that they can lose about a pound a day without feeling hungry. Perhaps even more seductively, they are frequently told that the hCG will prompt their bodies to carry away and metabolize fat that has been stored where they least want it — in their upper arms, bellies and thighs.

In response to inquiries stirred up by the diet’s popularity, the Food and Drug Administration warned in January that “homeopathic” forms of hCG, like lozenges and sprays, sold over the Internet and in some health food stores, are fraudulent and illegal if they claim weight-loss powers.

The injectable, prescription form of hCG, human chorionic gonadotropin, is approved as a treatment for infertility and other uses, and it is legal for doctors to prescribe it “off-label” for weight loss.

But the F.D.A. has also reiterated a warning, first issued in the mid-1970s, that is required on hCG packaging: It has not been shown to increase weight loss, to cause a more “attractive” distribution of fat or to “decrease hunger and discomfort” from low-calorie diets.

The F.D.A. recently received a report of a patient on the hCG diet who had a pulmonary embolism, said Christopher Kelly, a spokesman for the agency. He said the hormone carried risks of blood clots, depression, headaches and breast tenderness or enlargement.

Dr. Pieter Cohen, an assistant professor at Harvard medical school who researches weight-loss supplements, said that aside from the issue of side effects, the use of hCG as a diet tool was “manipulating people to give them the sense that they’re receiving something that’s powerful and potent and effective, and in fact they’re receiving something that’s nothing better than a placebo.”

But unlike other popular diet supplements, hCG, which is derived from the urine of pregnant women, has acquired an aura of respectability because the injections are available only by prescription.

Ms. Brown’s physician, Lionel Bissoon, a well-known society doctor with an office off Central Park West, charges $1,150 for his hCG program, which covers an examination, injection training, a month’s supply of the hormone and syringes, and blood work to monitor for possible trouble.

“From an anecdotal point of view,” Dr. Bissoon said, “physicians all around the country have seen people losing a tremendous amount of weight with this stuff, and you cannot afford to ignore that.”

Another New York doctor, Scott M. Blyer, offers the hCG diet as an adjunct to his cosmetic surgery practice, working with Jacqueline Fulop-Goodling, an orthodontist, out of her office in Midtown. Dr. Fulop-Goodling does not prescribe hCG, but she counsels patients. They charge $800 for a 40-day course of therapy, half-price for repeat rounds; they also require an EKG to make sure the patient has no heart trouble.

One of Dr. Blyer’s patients, a 30-year-old business consultant named May, who asked that her last name not be used because she was embarrassed to be considering the diet, described herself as an “emotional eater.” She is 5-foot-3 and 130 pounds, but said she hoped to shed 20 pounds in time to be a bridesmaid at an April wedding. “So I have just six weeks,” she said.

Dr. Blyer looked uneasy. “Your legs are thin, your face is thin,” he told her. “You’re a very attractive woman.” But he reassured her that she would lose weight where she wanted to, in her stomach. The hCG, Dr. Blyer said, “tricks your body into a state of pregnancy; it burns off fat so the fetus can get enough calories, but it protects muscle.”

May eventually decided that she did not need to lose much weight and did not go through with the diet.
