We're on hiatus

As you've no doubt noticed I've been a little slack in releasing episodes here lately. Sorry for not keeping all you guys in the loop. I'm revamping the layout of the show and the site. Simply dedicating the show to free files seems to have some limitations and I'd like to see this show keep growing. I'd absolutely love any suggestions anyone might have for me.

One last thing, the contest is almost over and a decision will be made on Feb 1st, so get your entries in soon. The prize has changed. Rather than a 128MB Flash Drive, I've upped the size to 256MB. Refer to episodes 7.5 and 8 for the rules.

Episode 8 - Keepin' it in the family

As I said before, Flash WAMP isn't free, but it is worth taking a look at if you'd like to add audio to your site. It converts your WinAmp skins into Flash for you, so if you have a favorite skin or one you designed yourself it's a great tool for adding a little flair to your site.

In case you were one of the few that jumped on Episode 7 within the first 5 minutes, you accidentally received a video clip I was trying to link you to on my site. Sorry about that. Episode 7 - Drier than a martini

Shady joins me this week to review Free Ram Pro, AntiVir, Avast!, Freevo, VUPlayer, and the latest from NASA. Put away your towels, because this one's really dry. I gotta start doing some more prep-work. The episode cuts off at the end because, as I stated earlier, my battery died.

This was a rush job of the worst kind, and it was still late. I was feeling bad after getting so behind schedule that I called Shady, rushed 100 miles to Richmond, and pooped this one out. So I ask you, would you rather me be late and have better content or do whatever I can to squeeze out an episode and have the occassional lemon? This is a serious question, so I expect a response (please).

Episode 7.5 - It's all relative...

My nephew, Robert, joins me this week. We talk about Dogpile, Grokster, Fruitcast, a couple of fun videos, and a game I've gotten into.

Robert introduced me to Dogpile, not a file, but still useful. We talk about the Grokster page, no link to that though, listen to the episode and you'll know why. Ever heard of the Numa Numa video? Bet you haven't seen Pluma Pluma Gay. Use Fruitcast to place ads in your podcast to make money.

Don't fret, Audacity saved the day. Even though I didn't save my show, the episode was still preserved in a temp folder. Yep, all 181 10-second clips of them. I've finished stitching it back together, but it'll be up in a couple days.

Episode 5 - A host with some know-how

This week's show is co-hosted with Jake Sweany, and covers Deepburner, ShrinkTo5, and Virtual Dub.

We also talk a little about Firefox and it's history. I did some research and found out that the previous versions of Firefox began with Pheonix (ver. 0.1-0.5), then switched to Firebird (ver. 0.6-0.8), and then changed to the Firefox we know and love from ver. 0.9-1.5, which is the current release.

Jake has been a good friend of mine for some time now, and luckily for us he's a little more tech oriented. Trust me when I say he knows what he's talking about, even teaching me a thing or two.

Episode #001 - Prerelease Notes

We'd like to thank all of you guys waiting for the release of SingleFlow's first podcast for all your patience and support. For those of you that don't already know SingleFlow is a show dedicated to bringing you all the free and open source software alternatives out there for those of us that can't afford 100's of dollars worth of mediocre applications.

Every application we feature has been reviewed and rated by one of us, and most of the time it's still being used to some degree on our systems. All the software is ad-free (unless we missed something), and offer the same, or similar, functionality to their paid counter parts.

Each application is, in our eyes, a basic must-have for every user setting up their system for the first time or for the seasoned veteran who just hasn't found out about them yet. We scour the web to find all the amazing programs scattered throughout and put it all in one place. Stop watching countless episodes of tech shows waiting for a juicy tidbit, just enjoy your shows for once, and let us compile all that stuff for you. Stop using a search engine to find those priceless gems, only to be directed to a spoofed site that bundles in spyware with anti-spyware applications. This is your one-stop-shop for free utilities, but as we don't sell (or even host) any of these files, we prefer to call it your SingleFlow.

Episode #001 is going to begin by covering the essential FREE protective software available on the net today. This includes, but is not limited to, free firewalls, anti-spyware, data eliminators, and data encrypters. As the show progresses, and hopefully it will, we'll go on to cover some of the more fun and interesting things the freeware and open source community has to offer.

We encourage you to check back to our site frequently for new updates as we move closer to finalizing the site and the show.
