Voice training is very important component to improving your singing ability, it is the corner stone of a great voice. But you must approach voice training just like sports training, it needs consistency and effort. When you training your voice you are doing a muscle training exercises that strengthen your vocal cords and gives them muscle memory. The bottom line is the more you practice, the stronger your voice gets.

Click to Learn About Singorama – Top Internet Vocal Training Program

Voice training provides benefits outside of just improving your voice, your whole personality will be affected as a result of the changes in breath control, posture, bearing, and clarity of speech. You will appear more focused, centered, confident and more in control of your material.

Singers usually start training when their voices mature. Participation in school musicals or in a school or church choir often provides good training and experience during our school years. Then as one gets older it becomes time for more formal vocal training. There are a couple of different options. First you can hire a vocal coach, which is always the best option if you’re trying to be a professional singer. But if you just want to improve your voice and don’t have the money for a vocal coach, on-line lessons can also be very effective.

Good on-line vocal lessons will most certainly include the same technical training as you would get from a coach. You can expect to learn about topics such as posture, breath support, tone production and placement, range development, diction and vowels, inflection in singing styles and speech, and vocal projection and power.

My favorite on-line course is Singorama. Singorama includes a great section on voice training and it is an important part of this course as well (breathing techniques, pronunciation, intonation, diction, etc). This course also covers things like practice schedules, singing harmony, writing your own songs just to name a few.

So why are they doing this? is it because Paula tired of being the only woman on the panel, or is it for ratings? I think its so someone can help Paula keep track of how many songs someone sang!

Let’s face it, drunk people can’t sing and below is a list of 10 karaoke songs that all drunk people try to sing. And yes, I’ve tried to sing them all myself when I shouldn’t have.

What also strikes me as odd is people actually post these videos on the internet for all of us to listen to and shake our collective heads. So here we go:

We are the Champions

I think this is a glee club from small town America and they just beat the choir from the assisted living center in a sing off, this is there victory song.

Bye Bye Miss American Pie

I’m not sure but this woman may have this song confused with a Bob Dylan song. She may not remember if she cried, but I know I did.

Like a Virgin

I’m pretty sure if this guy keeps singing he’ll be a virgin for a long, long time! And check out those shorts: hot, hot, hot.

Friends in Low Places

I wonder if they were playing strip poker?

Margaritaville

I’m a big Jimmy Buffet fan but even I can’t listen to this. On a positive note at least these two have a couple of women there to catch them if they fall of the stage.

Good Bye Earl

These two must have got some cool new video editing software I figure. Why else would they post this?

Love Shack

The woman in this video isn’t too bad. The guy I’m pretty sure after this company Christmas party performance isn’t going to be up for promotion any time soon.

One of the greatest educational benefits you can offer a child is teaching children how to sing. Singing does many things in the human brain for making connections between neurons, by helping kids associate words with certain activities. Children who sing are much likelier to hang structures together for retaining knowledge, and are likelier to make associations between words and objects shown to them when they’re linked by singing.

This aspect of teaching children to sing is nothing new; singing your lessons has been a part of educational pedagogy since the Greeks and Romans, where in addition to several techniques about building the palace of the mind, the key lessons were tied to singing to reinforce the connection between the data and the comprehension mechanism. It was preserved in the monasteries of Europ during the middle ages, where singing ones devotions helped a monk retain knowledge, and acolytes and initiates were shown their tasks by a friar who sang the steps as they were being shown.

This practice advanced in the Middle Ages, where it was (again) applied to children and teaching children to sing, though mostly for those wealthy enough to have tutors. The Renaissance expanded on this procedure, but it wasn’t until the Reformation that it really hit the massive bulk of the populace, with the movement to present the teachings of the Church in the common language of the people rather than Latin.

One of the leaders in teaching children to sing as an educational process was England, with compulsory education, and its intellectual inheritor, the United States. Both benefited from the development of the printing press, making both hymnals and text books much cheaper to produce, and putting a significant benefit on universal literacy.

With the advent of the Industrial Revolution, and literacy needing wider acceptance, and then the creation of both recorded media and radio broadcasting, it was common practice to make things that had to be remembered tied to a system of mnemonics (the ancient Greek system) and to make the mnemonic catchy – presenting it as a jingle. This is why nearly every radio and television commercial uses music. When it came to children’s education, this had slipped out of the mainstream until the 1970s, when School House Rock, a series of 3 minute clips on various topics, were aired on ABC as part of the requirements for educational content for children. These little cartoon clips taught children to sing and taught them history, mathematics, and several other concepts by associating them with catchy jingles. Public Broadcasting caught into the same trend with The Electric Company and Sesame Street, where similar processes happened.

There are many benefits to teaching children to sing, and most of them will help them throughout their lives; studies of Alzheimer’s patients have shown that those who imprinted information by singing had some advantages in retaining their knowledge and fighting off the effects of the disease.

Even the best singer needs some improvements. Many of the noted singers have taken singing lessons at some point in their lives. Online singing lessons is the next best thing to a vocal coach. Why? Because in an online setting, you can learn how to sing at your own pace.

These lessons can range from a do-it-yourself type of education to a full out combination of lessons with a teacher. When you take your lessons online, you have the ability to go as slow or fast as you want. Of course, you never want to go too fast as you might miss key and important elements to learning how to sing.

Online singing lessons can teach you where you may be having trouble, where you need to improve, and overall improve the quality of your singing, which is the most important element. When you learn how to properly breathe while singing, which is a part of singing lessons, you can carry your notes clearer, longer, and with more power.

When you learn how to control your voice, you can hit notes that you never thought possible, either high or low. You can belt a tune out in style and with quality, instead of inhibiting yourself and perhaps even straining your vocal chords because you lack control.

Singing lessons also teach you about the imperative posture and how to support yourself when you are singing. This can help you further with control, power, and breathing. Support is necessary to ensure that your voice is fluid and compelling.

With singing lessons, you can also take advantage of vocal exercises. These exercises are designed to help you in the areas of diction, breathing, posture, fitness, pitching, and training the ear. You will find helpful scales and exercises that can improve your ability to sing overall.

Taking online singing lessons is a great way for the busy person to get the encouragement and tools they need to take their singing talents to the next level. It is also a great thing for those who have yet to get over stage fright and find the opportunity to learn on their own extremely appealing. At the same time, it is great for those who may not be able to afford an “offline” vocal coach or professional training.

You can get much of the same results with online singing lessons, as you could if you took lessons offline.

For many people, learning how to become a singer is their lifelong dream and goal. It is not easy to become a singer; it takes a lot of hard work, determination, and dedication. Of course, this is besides the fact that you have to know how to sing at the same time. So, if you are wondering how you can become a singer, then you first have to know the amount of work and confidence it will take to succeed.

The first step is learning how to sing. If you know how to sing, this is making your goal that much closer. The ability to carry a tune is a very important part to becoming a singer. Of course, a good place to also start, if you have the ability to sing, is to study the singers that you know and love. Study their singing style, study the road they took in their career, what crowd do they appeal to and so forth. You do not want to be exactly like your idol, but you want to maybe follow their achievements and goals.

Then it is a good idea to take voice lessons. When you want to learn how to be a singer, even if you have the ability to sing, you want to take voice lessons anyways. This can help you train your voice, help you practice, and improve the quality and strength of your voice. Knowing how to properly sing is the goal of voice lessons and teaches you how to protect your vocal chords.

Having confidence and being comfortable performing in front of others is a key aspect of becoming a singer as well. If you have stage fright, you need to get over it and get experience in any way that you can. This could be karaoke, talent nights, open mic nights, and other elements. Even joining a musical cast is a great way to get over your fears of performing in front of others.

Most of all, you want to be who you are without fail. Find a style of your own, determine where your comfort zone is and see if you can break out of it to get a broader range of styles. You want to have something unique that makes you stand out as a singer.

In other words, when you want to learn how to be a singer, you need to incorporate all of these elements and then put the hard work and dedication into making your dreams and goals come true.

Often, we wish we knew how to sing properly, especially when inspired by someone who can sing well. This desire to sing well is present in many of us, but we tend to suppress it thinking that we do not have the potential to sing well. However, there is hope for every one.

Even though it might not be possible to become a Grammy winner overnight, it is easy to master enough singing skills to sing acceptably in the company of others or to just join in singing along with a song you like on the radio.

If you do actually want to sing well, there is hope yet, so do persevere. Many people claim that singing skills are something that you are born with, but it is, however, not always the case. It is fully possible to develop singing skills, and anyone who wants to learn can do so.

Certain people are born with an innate talent, but then everyone does not want to be a world famous singer. If you want to develop average singing skills, and learn how to sing properly so that you can join in to sing along with others, you can easily learn to develop an impressive singing voice, and shed your fear of being asked to perform at a karaoke gathering.

The best method of learning how to sing is no doubt with a professional music coach, and you should be able to find one in almost any locality who can teach you the elementary singing tips such as the concepts of breath control and vocal technique, which you need to master in order to sing well. However, it is advisable to check on your music coach’s credentials because an incompetent instructor can seriously damage your voice.

A competent vocal coach will instruct beginners in the basics with concepts like singing should never be difficult or that you should never strain your voice or cause it stress even while reaching for the highest notes. They will also give you effective singing tips to unlock the full potential of your voice. Learning the basics well ensures that your later progress is without any problems and that you do not damage your voice while learning how to sing properly.

A vocal coach is generally considered to be the best way to learn how to sing, but they usually charge very high fees, with rates starting from $50 an hour right up to $200 an hour. Usually, the best voice instructors do not train beginners and it can be difficult to find someone who is both competent and is good at instructing beginners on how to sing properly.

There is, however, hope for those who are computer savvy, with learning singing by using interactive software becoming increasingly popular. Many are however skeptical as to whether it is possible to learn how to sing by using software, and they will be surprised to know that many do find it easy and thousands have learned to do so.

You can now learn to sing from the best of voice tutors from the comfort of your home and with sophisticated computer technology, you can now learn at your pace by using downloadable modules, which are delivered to you over the Internet instantaneously. You just don’t have any excuses left now to not learn how to sing properly.

Music is an important part of our life. It has the power to lift up the spirit, empower the mind and touch emotional cords. Music can make us cry, laugh, think or simply smile.
For musicians, the highest form of praise is when a song touches the soul of a listener. This is why musicians and singers alike need to study and learn music theory.

Music theory is the mechanics of music. It encompasses the eight elements of music, which are:

Melody

Pitch

Rhythm

Harmony

Consonance and dissonance

Dynamics

Texture

Form or structure

Each of these has an important role in “musichanics” or the mechanics of music. It is utterly vital that a singer learn these as thoroughly as possible for several reasons. The first and foremost of these reasons is understanding. Without a complete understanding of how music works, you will be totally lost.

For instance, say you are singing with a group and the musicians say they are going to follow a chord progression in C major with a diminished fourth for flavor. Will you know what that means? If not, you are not only lost in the group but also cannot communicate with the others. When you perform the song, you will not recognize the shift in pitch and go off key.

That is, of course, a rather exploded view of a situation but you get the idea. All of the major composers, i.e. Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Chopin were masters of music theory. Beethoven was stone deaf and STILL wrote some of the world’s most beautiful concertos and movements. All because he understood theory and it’s relation to pitch and harmony. He couldn’t hear it, but he knew it went together as a result.

As a singer, music theory should be the first thing you study followed closely by reading sheet music so you know what to do when the music changes. These two skills together will give you an edge. It will also make you more aware of subtle changes that can be done to enhance the piece being sung.

All in all, music theory backed up with the ability to read music will allow you to become a better musician, and yes, singers are musicians in their own right. Once you have a grasp of theory, your eyes will be opened and you will want more. The more you learn, the better you will become and you will be able to communicate more effectively with other musicians and singers.

Learning music theory and how to read music is a vitally important part of the musical education experience.

If you’ve always wanted to learn to sing harmony but weren’t sure where to start, there’s good news. It’s not hard to learn this skill and become a great back up or accompanying singer. You’ll be able to easily form beautiful harmonies. All you need is some practice and good control over your voice. Here are a few exercises that can help.

One of the most important things is to be able to objectively listen to yourself harmonize. You can’t do this while you’re singing, so get a recording device that can play back a quality recording. Start out by harmonizing with a single note on the piano, or by singing along with one of your favorite songs. Match the song or note at first, and use the recording to see how well you’re doing. It’s important to be able to recognize and match a note before you can sing in harmony

After you’re sure that you can effectively sing along, it’s time to try some harmony. Try singing a little higher or lower this time. Record your performance and see how it sounds. Don’t worry if you’re not initially able to come up with a great sounding harmony. The purpose of the initial exercise is to try out lots of sounds and see how they feel and how they harmonize with the existing note or song. You can play back your harmony to check it.

Perform this sort of exercise for a little while every day, and be willing to experiment. You’ll soon see what kind of harmonies provide certain moods and which ones work best. Figuring out these sorts of relationships on your own will make you better at producing harmony. If you want to learn to sing harmony, all it takes is practice and some objective thinking. After a while, you’ll probably find that crafting an effective harmony isn’t difficult at all.

Intuition is a big part of learning to sing harmony. You’ll know what sounds right or wrong – just experiment until you get to a point that works out well. Traditional harmonies are usually sung only a little bit higher or lower than the lead, so don’t create a big difference when you sing harmony. Also, don’t over think things – it actually just makes it harder to learn to sing harmony! Practice and control are the best ways to learn – if you’re well trained in singing, harmony is a lot easier.

There are a number of singing techniques that can help you improve your performance, whether you’re an amateur or you’ve been singing all your life. Even if you do well now, using these techniques may help you sing even better. Here are a few tips to help.

First, make sure you have good posture. Hold your head erect, but without feeling stiff. Don’t slump – instead, your spine should be straight and your chest slightly elevated. Make sure you plant your feet firmly and squarely, giving you good support as you sing.

An elevated chest should cause you to breathe with little to no movement in your shoulders or upper chest. Instead, breathe from the diaphragm and lower chest. Relax, but without going limp. This is a delicate balance that can take a while to learn, but it’s important. If your body is overly tight, you’ll have trouble making the changes that allow quality sound. If it’s too loose, you won’t have the control that’s needed to sing well.

Remember that your entire throat, mouth, and respiratory system act to help with the resonance of your voice. Make sure that you can freely move all parts of your body when singing, and make sure that you’re able to exercise good control. Even the best singers will have trouble producing a quality performance if they’re standing poorly or are unable to provide the proper resonance.

Training can help you with your control and reduce breaking when you’re changing pitches. If you’ve never been trained in good singing techniques, you may find that there’s a noticeable change in the quality of your voice when singing scales – between the chest and head voices. Practice and good vocal control will help you eliminate this change and maintain high quality throughout.

Make sure that you sing with good, clear diction as well. It’s important not only to make the right sounds, but to be clearly and easily understood, too. The shape of your mouth and the position of your tongue can make a big difference in how you sound before an audience. Poor diction could result in a “mushy” or muttery sound to your singing – audiences should be able to understand what you’re saying!

The right singing techniques can really help you improve your performance. If you’ve never received formal training, now could be the time to start. Practice these tricks to sing better and more successfully, no matter what type of song you attempt.

No matter what style of singing you love, or what kind of voice you currently possess, you’ll find that with just a little bit of effort and dedication, and a thorough understanding of vocal warm up exercises, you’ll find that you can go quite a long way! Singing is like any other creative endeavor; the more you practice, the better at it you will get, and you’ll find that doing your vocal exercises is a great way to make sure that you are properly prepared to take on the songs that you want to try.

When thinking about the importance of warm up exercises, you’ll find that singing is truly a full body experience. You’ll be using muscles all over your body, and you’ll find that stretches of your abdomen, back, neck and shoulders all work towards making sure that you are fully engaged when you start. You’ll also find that appropriate stretching will help you avoid straining your voice and that you’ll get a sweeter sound in general.

While some vocal warm up exercises of the voice will work you physically, other exercises will help train your voice and make you a better singer. These exercises will help you vocalize, and you’ll find that they can go a long way towards helping you reach your full range. It should never hurt when you sing, and to make sure that you can keep singing well for a longer stretch of time, you’ll find that it is important to make sure that your vocal warm up exercises are working towards helping you out in this regard.

You’ll find that getting stated with warm up exercises for your voice is a very simple thing to do. You can start off with an easy light humming, and you’ll find that this vibration will start stretching your vocal cords and preparing them for further activity down the line. You’ll find that the more warmed up you are, the longer you can sing with less strain over all. To make sure that you can take advantage of the full range of your voice, do vocal warm up exercises from the top of your range to the bottom, not really worrying about control. This will especially pay off in longer practices.

As you can see, vocal warm up exercises are quite important when you are looking to make sure that you are going to sing your best. There are many different vocal exercises that you can find out there, so ask your voice teacher or look some up up on your own!

If you are interested in becoming a good singer or even of understanding vocal song, you will find that it is impossible to move ahead without an understanding of pitch. Pitch is one of the building blocks of sound, along with loudness and timbre, and you’ll find that when you want to sing in a way that is appreciable to your listeners that pitch is definitely something that you need to understand very well indeed! if you are considering moving forward with your singing, make sure that you keep a few things about pitch in mind.

First, remember that pitch is used to represent the frequency of the sound. You’ll find that the sound that you hear has a certain vibration, and that to be in pitch, you will need to at least be able to recognize the vibration and synchronize with it. You need to think about what you can do to make sure that your pitch is on target, or else you will waver off from the true line of the song. When you are considering pitch, you should keep in mind that actual pitch may vary over something that you hear as a single solid note.

You will also find that there are other things that may affect pitch, and that they can affect it to such an extent that something that might read on a mechanical tuner as being true will sound off t o your ear. For instance, you;’ll find that pitch will depend, sometimes heavily, on the loudness of the sound itself. This is especially true if you are considering sounds that are coming in at a low frequency. A low bass note will sound lower in pitch if it is louder. This leads to the phenomenon that is known as audio illusions.

If you are looking to make your understanding of pitch a little bit better, you should keep in mind the idea of how how pitches differ from note to note. Figure out the relative “space” between two notes and concentrate on that. While some people are quite skilled when it comes to pitch right from the start, remember that it is a skill that can definitely be learned, and that the more you practice with it, the better off you will be. When you learn to judge notes based on their relative pitch, you will find that your ability to sing and harmonize can be greatly improved!

Title: Recreational Singing May Make You Live Longer

Author: Chris Chew

Article:

So you love to sing? Besides deriving the recreational pleasure of good singing, do you know that singing is actually good for your health and can even extend your longevity provided that you sing with the correct techniques?

The National Charity, Heart Research of the United Kingdom intends to get everyone in the world singing from 8-15 December 2008 to help raise funds to find cures for heart diseases and also because this charity believes that there are sufficient evidence to show that singing is good for your health.

Professor Graham Welch, who is the Chairman of Music Education at the Institute of Education, University of London has studied developmental and medical aspects of singing for more than three decades said not so long ago that health benefits of good singing are both physical and psychological.

Singing has physical benefits because it is an aerobic activity that increases oxygenation in the blood stream and it exercises major muscle groups in the upper body. Singing has psychological benefits because of its normally positive effect in reducing stress through the action of the endocrine system which is linked to our sense of emotional well being.

Psychological and emotional benefits are also pretty evident when people sing together as a group because of the increased sense of community bonding, belonging and shared recreation pursuit.

According to a research conducted by leading singer cum singing teacher, Helen Astrid from The Helen Astrid Singing Academy in London, regular vocal cord exercises are also thought to prolong life.

This was what Helen said, “Singing is an excellent way to keep fit because you are exercising your lungs and heart (cardio vascular exercise). Furthermore, your body produces endorphins (happy hormones), just like when you eat a bar of chocolate except that with singing is that you won’t consume any extra calories as in eating chocolates! Singing not only increases your lung capacity, it improves posture, clears respiratory tracks and sinuses and can even increase mental alertness through greater oxygenation. Singing often also helps to tone and firm up your abdominal and back muscles as well. However, that is if you are singing correctly using the correct singing techniques.”

“Another great benefit of singing is that it can keep you looking young since you are gently exercising your facial muscles”, added Helen who looks more than a decade younger than she really is. Isn’t this the most natural and inexpensive anti-aging treatment?

According to the findings of a joint study conducted by Harvard and Yale, singing can even help you live longer. The study showed that choral singing increased the life expectancy of the population of New Haven, Connecticut. This report concluded that this was because singing promotes a healthy heart and an enhanced mental state.

So if singing is really good for your health, then let’s have fun, keep fit and healthy by singing more often. However, do bear in mind that it is not just the mere action of singing that gives you all these health benefits, but correct singing that do.

Remember the song by Helen Reddy “Keep On Singing”? Go on, sing away!

Learning how to sing higher notes is very important, if you want to sing like a pro. If you want to be able to sing any song you want, it is important to increase your vocal range (the range of notes you can comfortably sing), after all. It is certainly possible for you to have trouble singing low notes, but most people have the most trouble when they try to sing higher notes.

You might not think it’s possible, but anyone can learn how to sing higher notes. It is not just an activity reserved for superstars. All it will take you to learn how to sing higher notes properly are time, patience and practice.

The first step to learning how to sing higher notes in the proper way is to understand the different main registers of the human voice.

The “chest voice” is the deepest register. It is also the most comfortable one. Usually that is the register in which most people talk.

The next vocal register is called the “head voice”. It is a much higher vocal register, so you might think that it is the key to learning how to sing higher notes. However, even though it is often the sound you hear at operas and in classical performances, it is not the key.

The true solution to learning how to sing higher notes is actually learning to use your “mixed voice”. The “mixed voice” register is between the other two registers. It is a middle ground. If you sing using your “mixed voice”, rather than your “chest voice”, you can learn how to sing higher notes without pain. You can also avoid causing permanent damage to your vocal chords. People who try to sing high notes using their “chest voice” are prone to developing nodules and cysts on their vocal chords. So, not only will learning to sing in your “mixed voice” teach you how to sing higher notes, but it will keep you healthier.

You may have also heard of using a falsetto voice, which isn’t really a vocal register at all. If you sing in falsetto, your vocal chords are not even going to fully come together. The sound produced will come out extremely light and airy. It will not have any depth or power to it.

So, in order to learn how to sing higher notes with ease, you should begin by breaking your old singing habits. Instead, practice singing up and down scales in your “mixed voice”, not in your “chest voice” or “head voice” or a falsetto voice. It will take you some time and it may feel strange to you when you first begin. However, in no time at all you will learn how to sing higher notes easily and comfortably.
