Malays can communicate and write in English, pronto.

Most of the pro government bloggers and alternative media users are self finance, unlike the Komtar Troopers (DAP) or the Selangor troopers (PKR) or Perak cuyber trooper (during Nizar 11 month regime) -they can boast RM 3000 monthly for writing nonsense garbage. Selangor disbursed RM 2 million for cyberwarfare

Most of my encounter with these so called Pro Pakatan cyber trooper were one way, true they are LOUD but once we counter their claims with facts they dissapear. Back to the self finance blogger, facebooker and twitters, we need to keep our day job and can only come to the alternative media once our project is over or when we are out of the company premises (some companies have the policy of no facebooking and twittering during office hours that need to abide too)

Try writing in The Star- the paper requires you to disclose your home address and phone number…thus silence the critics.

Malays I believe will be the silent majority and back the pesent government- this had happened in 2000 during Tun M premiership

PITY those who think he is smart winnning in public speaking organized by a MCA dog tabloid.. btw.. there are as many Malay debaters and public speakers in the Piala Perdana Menteri… but DAPsters create a sense of superiority by highlighting silly achievements, can these Jerusubang actually compete with the mainstream heads on… yes.. but it’d be challenging.

Melayu such as myself is not keen on sharing feed on my fb because i want to jaga hati – ‘takkan sebab politik, kita nak bermasam muka, bergaduh and end years of friendship’: that’s me la, not sure about others.

My non malay & even malay friends can share whatever they want, i don’t mind but i laughed behind their backs over their hypocrisy la (these friends work for govt agencies, GLCs, local uni & some even benefitted lots from the current gomen) but i always make sure i do a research on what’s being shared..

but I admit I am biased towards BN due to Tun M (the changes on Msian landscape & development set by Tun is overwhelming). plus i am old school – i believe in being bersyukur.

    Absolutely! dapsters tend to avoid that which they cannot debunk and probably label you a racist behind your back. But pas and pkr Malays are a different story altogether. They jump in head first. I once had a discussion turned debate turned ugly with din merican’s wife on FB and let’s just say that when she failed to “convert” us to the pakatan way she just burnt all the bridges and unfriended/blocked all who disagreed with her. I believe as the election draws closer her friend’s list is getting shorter

    The silver lining for MCA is that with every cut, the thousandth cut is one cut closer. Death would be blessed & merciful release for them, one would think.
    
    Then CSL can go back to playing doctor as the other dinosaurs contemplate life as has beens. They can take a leaf from GPS’s book. Admitting shame is step one in the healing process. The faster you heal, the faster you get to the ladder leading to the cushy executive chairs in the boardroom in Menara Star.

    It is just the nature of Malays not to be “so insistent’. partly due to the fact that they are ‘umat nabi Muhammad SAW’. In crude language , it means “tak payah jadi keras hati sangat’.
    
    Which explain why for example no action taken against states ruled by PR eventhough they endorsed the toppling of a legitimate Federal govt (failed sept 16)
    
    In other countries, that act will be deemed as treason. In other countries, it will result in “army trucks crossing Penang Bridge and literally drag Guan eng and entire state officials who conspire”..
    
    What many Non Malays fail to realise is that Malays too know what they are up too. No offense, Helen, Malays short of saying it already give up on genuine partnership with Chinese.

Guan Eng defends DAP’s multicultural stand

DAP has maintained it is a multiracial party, despite criticisms it received when no Malay member was voted into the central executive committee (CEC) at its national congress on Sunday.

Secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said the party has always practised the “Middle Malaysia” principle and rejected the politics of lies and hate.

“These are the parties that criticise the DAP just because two Malay members were appointed to the CEC, “ Lim said during a press conference today.

Although no bumiputra member was voted into the 20-member CEC, two Malays – Senator Dr Ariffin SM Omar and Lim’s political secretary Zairil Khir Johari – along with Sabah DAP secretary Dr Edwin Bosi and Sarawak member Dr John Brian Anthony, both bumiputras, were later appointed to the CEC.

Since the results were unveiled, the DAP has attracted a string of criticisms from its political rivals.

Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon and former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi also lent their voices to the chorus, saying the non-election of Malays into the CEC was against the Malaysian spirit.

Defending the party, Lim said the decision of the delegates should be respected and that a party which practises democracy cannot control who the delegates should vote for. He stressed that the DAP is a multiracial party, and pointed out that party members come from various ethnic groups, including those from Sabah and Sarawak. “We have Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazans and even Ibans in the party, and Kadazans and Ibans in the CEC.

“Do BN component parties have such a mixed group in their CECs?” he asked adding that Umno and MCA had no right to talk about multiculturalism as their struggle was only for one particular community. Source here

KUCHING: Several PKR leaders, including three chairmen of party divisions, announced their resignations from the party. No reasons were given for their sudden resignations, but it is speculated that they are involved in the formation of a new party.

The leader of the group Jimmy Donald, the Sri Aman PKR division chairman, said that others who resigned included Serian division chief Jonas Anak Reong, Kapit division head Munan Laja, senior leader of Serian division Matthew American and Dr John Brian Anthony, the PKR defeated candidate for Meluan in the last state polls in April.

“Our resignations are supported by many committee members and ordinary members of the respective divisions,” said Donald, who was also a former vice-chairman of Sarawak PKR. “We want to relax first and you wait and see what our next move is,” he told reporters. (here)

May 13th 1969 – The Correct View (part 1)

It has been 40 years since the bloody riots of 1969. Today, I would like to offer my prayers to the people that had lost their lives in that fateful day. Many have talked about what had happened. Many books were published. Many theses and opinions were written to elaborate and discuss the events prior, during and after the incident.

Some say that this bloody blotch in our history books should be a lesson learned. Some say we should bury this ghost of our past. Some even made the effort to distort history by misrepresenting the facts.

Three weeks ago, the Regent of Perak put to task people who write destructive political books in order to satisfy their own selfish agenda. His Majesty had commented on something that is very crucial in highlighting the despicable act of rewriting our history to fit a certain ulterior motive. What more, all the so-called facts presented in the books are highly presumptuous, misguided and intended only to achieve a divisive propaganda.

One such book that I would like to highlight is the book by Dr Kua Kia Soong entitled : Declassified Documents on the Malaysian Riots of 1969″.

From reading the book, readers will ultimately come to three conclusions:

1) Tun Abdul Razak masterminded the May 13 racial riots as a form of coup d’etat from Tunku Abdul Rahman

2) Datuk Harun Idris led Umno Youths to spontaneously launched an unprovoked attack towards the chinese people

3) The racial riots were not the fault of the racist opposition or the subversive communist movement

These are the conclusions the author of the said book would like his readers to believe. He strengthened his thesis by providing several dockets of ‘declassified documents’ in his book.

Now, from the term ‘declassified document’, what does a layman normally associate it with?

It must have been a top secret document sanctioned by the government to be kept as classified and confidential from the eyes of the public. It must have been documents with valid and unshakable truths that are so damning, it would have been prudent to be kept as a secret. Correct?

But as you read the book, these ‘declassified documents’ were nothing more than articles taken from the now defunct Far Eastern Economic Review magazine. Its writer, a journalist named Bob Reece communicated directly with the FEER’s HQ in London and British High Commission.

These documents were ‘obtained’ by Kua Kia Soong from the Public Records Office in Kew Gardens, London – and so he stated in his book.

In fact, these were the documents deemed by Kua Kia Soong as the priceless ‘declassified documents’. They have no intrinsic value and were not data laden with factual analyses except to notify the readers that the documents were actually, only a personal opinion of a British journalist!

Kua Kia Soong rubbished all the investigative research and study of the White Paper of the NOC on what actually had happened. He relied mainly on Bob Reece’s writings and dispatches between foreign correspondents.

If he thinks that his book is a thorough research and also the definitive version of what had really happened 40 years ago, then he is gravely mistaken.

This book can safely be classified as a highly prejudice book vent on achieving a specific propaganda which is detrimental to the nation’s social harmony. Why do I say that? Please refer to the three lies conclusions above.

This article came about from what Raja Nazrin had said three weeks ago:

If this trend continues to grow, I fear that it will create an unhealthy writing culture, a writing culture which nurtures lies, a writing culture which is unethical and ready to ignore fact, and one that will have a negative influence on the development of the people’s minds.

And this article will try its best to straighten and debunk the propaganda which had been swimming within the minds of the ignorant racists.

Now in order to ascertain what really happened that day, we need to study it holistically. Kua Kia Soong had purposely left out vital events preceding May 13. I would have thought a research director with a doctorate would have been more diligent in espousing his hypothesis. One must always begin with the root cause, the trigger, the reaction and finally the aftermath. In a historical event of this magnitude, one must evaluate every event that took place in chronological order before we can decide on the conclusion. One must know the historical background of the mood of the people on that day.

Instead, he concluded them before making the research and work on it backwards. That is why the book was written in a manner which denigrated Tun Abdul Razak as a chinese killer and a usurper of Tunku Abdul Rahman. After making this conclusion, he then proceeded in cherry picking excerpts from the so-called ‘declassified’ documents (which were nothing but mere telegrams and wired news) of British field reporters to justify his conclusion.

That is a flawed approach and it does not work that way.

Let us dissect and re-address the May 13 episode as what it is and what it is not.

The first of many factual errors the author committed was in the Introduction section whereby he averred that Dato Onn revolted against the British in 1946 in order ‘to grant citizenship rights to the non-Malays’ (pg. 13 of the book).

That was a factual mistake. In 1946 which was the birth year of Umno, Dato Onn had opposed the Malayan Union because it would usurp the power of the Malay Rulers, and allow the British to rule Malaya as their colony (according to Tunku Abdul Rahman’s Political Awakening book pg. 1).

Furthermore, Dato Onn was fighting the Malayan Union because the Malays saw the jus soli (right of territory) principle in the citizenship clause for the Malayan Union as too generous because it stipulated that individuals born in Chinese-majority Singapore were included even though Singapore was excluded from the Malayan Union structure. The Malays’ worst fears seemed to be coming true; they would be reduced from a nation to a mere community, and a minority one at that; in a land which they perceived as being historically theirs.

It was the author’s intention to psychologically induce the minds of the younger generation that the first President of Umno was actually fighting for the non-Malays! Kua Kia Soong lied about this and got away with murder.

He also used the term declassified documents extensively but failed to establish validity on the facts he wanted to portray. In chapter three he stated:

“The following day, the riots continued but on a smaller scale compared to the previous day. The curfew was only lifted to allow people to buy food. This dispatch from the British High Commission (BHC) showsthat the casualties were mainly chinese:

‘Violence continued throughout the night according to eye witnesses and official reports. However it was much more sporadic, more quickly contained and less widespread. Security forces were much better organized to contain and check violence. It is hoped this morning that the back of the communal rioting may be broken. Curfew is being lifted over staggered hours in various districts of the city to allow people to get food. Curfew is to be rigidly reinforced this afternoon but indications are that it will be lifted for a few hours on a daily basis for the next few days if the situation permits.’”

But readers will see that there were no numbers of deaths supplied in that particular dispatch. It did not even mention about more chinese were killed! Readers were deliberately led to believe otherwise through the opening remarks. Very misleading indeed. Yet, currently most younger generations who is reading the books think that the official tally should be much higher! All because of his lies stated in the book.

It was amusing when in the effort to absolve any blame from the racist opposition at that time, the author concluded in his second chapter that-

“the official version of the May 13 Incident puts the blame for the riots on provocation by the Opposition parties. From correspondents’ dispatches at the time, we find little evidence to support this allegation’ (pg 39).

Of course there were little evidence from them Mr Kua Kia Soong, those correspondents were parachuted to the scene just to cover the general election. They were not here when racial tension was at sky high weeks or even years before May 13^th.

Foreign journalists from Britain in the past had always gleefully wishing that Malaysia will falter. Right after our independence in 1957, the then Malaya was labeled as the ‘primary candidate for the dustbin of history’. They had always prophesied that Malaya (Malaysia) can never succeed as a nation due to its multiracial citizenry. It would be much better if Malaya had stayed under the administration of the British.

This incident was the best opportunity for them to see us go for each other’s throat so that their prophecy will be self-fulfilled. As usual, most foreign journalists all around the world came here merely a couple of days before the general elections.

And it became damaging when in order to suit this book’s agenda, Kua Kia Soong used all those suspicious correspondence and documents.

Did Kua Kia Soong take into account the prevailing feelings of the people in Malaysia during that time? He did not. His only reference of the discontent and animosity between the Malays and the Chinese contained only within one sentence in which he blamed the policies for the anxiety caused, and not the opposition’s racist approach. He stated –

“There was certainly widespread discontent among the workers, farmers, middle classes as well as urban setters. The state’s racially discriminatory policies only served to create further divisions among the people and the 1969 election results clearly reflected this growing polarisation”.

And that was all he said. Consciously, he failed to include in his book the following items which fueled the mood of the people at that time. Importantly missing was the happenings between the election day of 10^th May and May 13 itself. The author somehow failed to include these facts in his book.

Background on racial tension in Malaya / Malaysia

1) To defend Malaya from Communist insurgency, the Government embarked on an effort to recruit the Chinese to join the police force. Between 1949 to 1951, the effort of the government to attract the Chinese to defend the nation against the MCP met with little success. Only 200 chinese youths volunteered. When National Service was introduced in 1950, considerable amount of Chinese and Indians sought to leave the country.

Over 10,000 chinese fled to China to avoid call-up. This further added to the resentment among the Malays and even Sir Henry Gurney commented –

“A feeling of resentment is growing among all the other communities of the apparent reluctance of the Chinese to help. These people (the Chinese) live comfortably and devote themselves wholly to making money…”

(Did I just hear RPK cough just now?)

However, I must add that there were indeed a few Chinese that stayed back and help defend the nation against the communists. Those were the brave ones. Very much unlike the opportunistic racists that we have now who would migrate overseas when times are bad and at the same time condemning Malaysia from abroad.

2) Pulau Pinang racial clash on 2nd January, 1957 resulted in 4 deaths and 48 injured. It happened on the day of celebrating Georgetown’s bestowment of a City status by the British Government. The procession was marred by a misunderstanding by the mostly chinese celebrants towards the Malay spectators. It was quickly averted from becoming a state wide riot through the quick arrival of a police party.

3) In May 1959, another Malay-Chinese racial clash happened in Pulau Pangkor. Confrontation between Malay thugs and Chinese hoodlums caused residential fire and two Malays were killed and eight were injured. The Chinese suffered one death and a couple of injured youths. Island curfew was imposed for a few days because of that racial clash.

4) In Bukit Mertajam circa July 1964, one Malay and one Chinese were killed over a petty argument. Dozens were injured. It started when a Malay market employee was hit with a cangkul by a 15 year old Chinese vegetable vendor. Subsequent to this, a spate of assaults cases and arson occurred in the Bukit Mertajam area as the employee tried to report the incident to the District Council. Eventually curfew was imposed to deter anymore racial clashes. The nation was rocked yet again by this incident.

5) In 1967 when the currency was devalued, the communist elements in the Labour Party initiated ‘hartal’ on the 19th November to exploit the issue using the anti-devaluation propaganda. They chose Pulau Pinang as their target because of the sensitive racial situation on the island. This is because, Penang’s racial tension was already brewing for the past 10 years (from the first racial clash 10 years before). Many Malays were brutally attacked by the Chinese members of the opposition resulted in many deaths and injuries while several houses and vehicles were burnt. Tunku related -

“The communists however, never left us alone. If they couldn’t carry out open aggression they at least carried out intensive and extensive acts of subversion. In 1967, we had to adjust our currency to meet our financial exigency, and so we devalued very slightly our currency – so slightly that nobody noticed. But in Penang the Socialist Front, an opposition party somewhat hostile to the Alliance Government, declared a hartal (closing of shops as mark of protest or sorrow)…

So when they declared the hartal the gangsters and thugs took it upon themselves to start trouble, and attacked the harmless Malay people whom they regarded as the favoured children of the Government. In fact these Malays were ignorant shoppers who knew nothing valuation or devaluation of our currency, and they were taken completely by surprise.”

Tunku wrote that in the 1980’s. He penned his thoughts in his weekly column in The Star. This was then compiled into a book entitled Political Awakening. The excerpt above had particularly debunked yet another lie told by Kua Kia Soong that Tunku Abdul Rahman stopped blaming the communists for the crisis.

Note that on page 27 and 28, Kua Kia Soong had tried to use yet another ‘reliable’ dispatch from the BHC to divert the blame put on communists by Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Dr Ismail and Ghazali Shafie. But the fact is, Tunku Abdul Rahman, as mentioned above had always blamed the communists as the instigators of the riot. Just read Tunku’s and Tun Dr Ismail’s books.

Hence, we have a Malaysian author here with political leanings of the DAP, doing his utmost best to shift the blame from the communists.

I wonder why.

Moreover, he is using the flimsiest of evidence to sidetrack the blame.

Note also that the word hartal was used by the pro opposition bloggers such as Haris Ibrahim to denote his distaste of the mainstream media and the ISA. Should he even mention the word hartal in front of the older Malay generation that suffered the brunt of the unprovoked attack in 1967, he will definitely meet disapproving faces. Astonishingly, the modus operandi of the old and current opposition is eerily similar.

6) In June 1968, racial troubles broke out when 11 chinese members of the MCP and 2 Malays who were sentenced to death for helping Soekarno to invade Johor during the Confrontation, were about to be sentenced to death for treason in Kuala Lumpur. The MP for Batu, Dr Tan Chee Koon of the Labour Party made an appeal against the execution. He gathered enough support from the chinese and pro-communist elements instigated the chinese community further.

Outside the gates of Pudu Jail and all along the road leading to the prison, menacing crowds gathered by the thousands in unruly demonstrations, throwing stones and bottles at passing cars and blocking traffic in the busy city roads.

Fearing nationwide unrest, Tunku Abdul Rahman pleaded for clemency from the Sultans of Johor and Perak and the death sentence was commuted from death sentences to life imprisonment.

In hindsight, the net result was not unexpected. The racist communists saw it as a weakness from the government instead of seeing its magnanimity and they further destabilised the nation through their racialised approach.

Dr Mahathir at that time summarised Tunku’s decision in a stinging letter sent to the then premier in the aftermath of 13th May. He wrote, among other things:

“You yourself told me that you have prevented a riot by commuting the death sentence of the 11 subversive Chinese. In truth this very action sparked the riots of 13 May, which resulted in the deaths of many, many more.

Your ‘give and take’ policy gives the Chinese everything they ask for. The climax was the commuting of the death sentence, which made the majority of the Malays angry. The Chinese on the other hand regarded you and the Alliance government as cowards and weaklings who could be pushed around.

That was why the Chinese and the Indians behaved outrageously toward the Malays on 12th May. If you had been spit in the face, called dirty names and shown obscene gestures and private parts, then you could understand how the Malays felt. The Malays whom you thought would never rebel went berserk, and they hate you for giving too much face.

Dr Mahathir was sacked from being an Umno and Supreme Council member about a month later.

7) A much more vile attack by the opposition happened on 24^th April, 1969; just two weeks before the historic general election. An Umno worker named Kassim Bin Omar was brutally murdered by the Chinese members of the Labour Party on his way home from elections campaign. He was beaten up and murdered on the streets and red paint was smeared all over his face. It was a deliberate act of murder and the senseless killing sent shock waves in the government. The opposition had become political murderers. They had tasted blood and the racists among them wanted more. They freely killed a Malay without any qualms whatsoever just to show their political strengths. Racial tension intensified to a dangerous level and a serious clash was averted at the last moment when Umno leaders instructed their supporters to bury the dead man quickly and quietly in a dignified manner. Umno leaders then were very sensitive with the feelings of the public and some say too tolerant towards the Chinese chauvinists.

Kua Kia Soong purposely did not mention this story because he wanted to put forth his third conclusion.

The Run-up to General Election of 1969

Kua Kia Soong’s analyses in his book only started from this point onwards although he still missed out several more pertinent points.

The May 13th general election had an unprecedented long campaign period. One month to be precise. Under the pretext of freedom of speech yet with rising racial tension in the background it was an unfortunate decision to be made by the government to grant a long campaigning period at that time.

The communist infested Labour Party instigated the nation by announcing in October 1968 they will boycott the 1969 general election. This left the opposition front to consist only the DAP, Gerakan, PPP and the PMIP (Pan Malaysian Islamic Party or PAS). The supporters of Labour Party then threw their weights in support of the DAP and Gerakan during the campaigning period.

They sense the government had already weakened by the racial intimidation and tension ignited by them and they were willing to divide the nation further in their campaigning strategy.

Using Kua Kia Soong’s own words -

“Thus, on the eve of the 1969 general election we saw on the one hand, PMIP (PAS) accusing UMNO of having ‘sold out’ the Malays to the Chinese and betrayed Islam; on the other, DAP accusing MCA of having “sold out” non-Malay rights to Umno” (pg 32).

So which is which? Their line of reasoning was indeed preposterous and illogical.

But this modus operandi remains the same till this day. They slandered the government through this racist method of divide and conquer and yet, they have the gall to call the Alliance (now Barisan Nasional) as racist!

Both PAS and DAP had different idealogies and yet they were willing to cooperate using DIFFERENT approach in their campaigns and the unassuming public bought their sickening propaganda! The result?

Again Kua Kia Soong’s succinctly summarized that “among the Chinese, the Alliance Party’s policy was seen as excessively favoring the Malays, while among the Malays, the Alliance Party’s policies were regarded as not getting results fast enough” (pg 37).

But who pounded these beliefs into the hearts and minds of both Malays and chinese? It’s non other than the opposition themselves.

Hence we have the ultimate hypocrisy of PAS chastising Umno for working with MCA instead of pursuing Hudud but at the same time can work in tandem with the DAP in a coalition. DAP meanwhile criticise MCA and Gerakan for kow-towing with Umno but the party itself failed to look in the mirror whenever they fawn over and hug PAS leaders in the opposition coalition.

Please re-read what Kia Kua Soong had wrote in the two excerpts above and juxtapose them with the current cries of racism that the opposition love to scream about these days.

Anyway, six days before the 1969 elections, 3 police constables came across a group of youths from the Labour Party painting anti-election slogans on the road. When challenged by the police, they attacked using iron rods and hurling firewood and stones. They put up such a fight that the police had to open fire in self defense. One of the youth was wounded and died later in the hospital.

The opposition took advantage of the youth’s death and wanted to organise a large funeral procession on the polling day itself! See the intended malice? Did Umno leaders organised a similar procession when Encik Kassim Bin Omar was killed as shown above? Compare the two incidents and we know who were the racist among them.

Anyway, the police together with the permission from the Home Ministry however, gave the permit for the procession to be held on the 9th instead.

This funeral procession, although larger in scale compared to the recent suspected car thief’s funeral procession was the tipping point of the Malays’ anger towards the chinese.

One of the documents which were considered ‘declassified’ was Bob Reece’s article in FEER in May 1969. Kua Kia Soong used an excerpt from it to establish that the funeral procession was very disciplined and well behaved (thus trying very hard to absolve any wrongdoing of the opposition).

“While it was true that some Mao-slogans and flags were seen during this parade, the discipline of the 14,000-strong crowd in their eight-mile march may have been due to genuine restraint rather than to communist organization.” (pg 27)

There you go. A British journalist who probably forgot to bring his glasses that day. The only side that had genuine restraint were the Malays watching the ruthless and taunting procession.

For eight miles the chauvinistic chinese marched.

The sight of the jeering hooligans marching slowly around the city for that many miles must have been an agonizing experience to bear for the Malays then. And yet, they chose to be patient.

They chanted Maoist slogans, sang ‘The East is Red’, and displayed portraits of Mao Tse-tung and the Red flag. The procession passed through the heart of Kuala Lumpur and tied up traffic in almost every major street in the city and provoked Malay bystanders with shouts of ‘Malai si!’ (Death to the Malays) and ‘Hutang darah bayar darah’ (Blood debt will be repaid with blood).

Did Kua Kia Soong mention any of these in his book? Of course he didn’t. Even to show these pictures will be damaging to his third conclusion stated at the beginning of this article.

4 days after this funeral procession, when an election victory march was held all over the city again, it broke the ever tolerant Malay psyche. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Today, Farish Noor wrote an article about May 13 and I am very disappointed that he chose to ignore all the above facts and proceeded to write that May 13 WAS NOT the result of a racial conflict. That is not the truth.

My next article will continue to discuss the events that happened after the victory procession of the opposition for the 2 days before May 13.

I will also lay out the retaliation by the Malays that ran amok on May 13, Umno’s role at that time and the reconciliation process between the people. We will also discuss whether the first two conclusions of the book were correct.

I reiterate the purpose of this article – which is to straighten out the lies some people are telling to young Malaysians. In order to clear the path for a united Malaysia, history must be made known as it is. Only then we can tell straight to each other’s face – ‘how lucky we are now’.

There is hope though. Anas Zubedy’s article here is a refreshing read and I applaud it. But only after we really know what happened in the past that we can face the future in a positive way. Maybe starting next year, we can all celebrate National Harmony Day on May 13 each year.

People Against Opposition Response to Anwar Ibrahim Supporter.

Below is an exchange between me and an anonymous Anwar Ibrahim supporter. You may judge for yourself why Anwar is loosing ground support as his supporters cannot even defend him on moral issues as this posting clearly shows that many of his supporters now (including this one) accepted that he is a man of low moral values but now they are turning the tables by saying that why make a devil of one (Anwar) and an angel (Najib, Rosmah, Muhyiddin, etc) of the other. My response, below.

Kalau Anwar is to step down due to non-proven accusations, then every politician who faces the same dilemma should step down as well. Which means Najib, Muhyiddin, etc etc all must step down also. We must be fair to all politicians right? Najib who is full of controversies and accused of crimes we cannot prove yet - altantuya, the 'scorpine' scandal, Rosmah's ring scandal, the drastic increase in capital debt, the highest ever capital flight scandal, etc. etc. has not stepped down, why should Anwar? The issues surrounding Najib has more relevance to the people and our welfare and is more serious than the mere questionable sexual orientation of a man.

Non proven accusations - (wrong choice of words)...Anwar was convicted for abuse of power and he went to jail for it. Whether you agree with the court sentence is another matter. Anwar is judge on moral standards. A sound leader must have upright moral values as this will have influence on the younger generations. If your father is an adulterer or homosexual deviant, I dont think so you would be proud of that. The father of a nation should and must have moral standards which we all can be proud of. Anwar has not one but now few videos evidence against him. You might NOT want to accept the admissibility of those video evidences reasons best known to you but for me, I believe those videos and photos are real and for your information, I know Anwar on a personal basis. Other politicians have taken the bite for their misbehaving like Chua Soi Lek and he resigned from all posts without any ceremony and later was re-elected by the people. Rahim Tamby Chik, Muhammad Taib, Datuk Mokhtar, Shahrizat, etc all resigned from their respective posts. For Najib and Muhyiddin, what you are saying are mere allegations. Rosmah's ring is a lie concocted by Che Gu Bard and everybody knew about it. Altantuya case was tried in court with more than 100 wtinesses being called and not one single evidence to link Najib and Rosmah. Najib even went to Masjid Guar Perahu and swear in the name of Allah that he didnt know Altantuya. Zulfkli Zainordin (one of the accused lawyer) gave evidence that Anwar ask him to fabricate SD against Najib. The Scorpine purchase was done according to regulations and it was even tabled in Parliment. The French court saga is another fabricated lie concocted by Pakatan Rakyat. Capital debt was another lie that are being circulated as the IMF and World Bank report shows Malaysia as one of the better governed country in the midst of global ecomonic meltdown with latest growth % of more than 5%. The capital debt issue should be taken against the Kedah state government for going bankcrupt after taken over by PAS. Lim Gua Eng push through RM 6.8million tunnel and road projects in Penang with a RM 2 company and an exconvict is currently running that company which was awarded the project after the tender submission was closed. We are discussing moral issues. Base on that, Anwar must resign to restore confidence back in his leadership. You just cant take the rakyat for a ride. Latest, Anwar dont even have confidence to contest In Permatang Pauh..Why ? Deep in his heart, he knows, he lost it. With the implication of Lahad Datu terrorist attack, whereby Anwar did open a forum in Sabah talking about giving autonomy back to Sabah. As Karpal Singh said, Anwar Ibrahim harus bertaubat. Anwar Ibrahim has done enough trouble for the country. UMNO and BN are not angels but at least they are very clear about their leadership and have taken action against leaders who crossed the lines. If you look at BN Administration, in 1957 with the Alliance, our GDP stood at RM 5.5 billion and after 55 years, our GDP stands at more than RM 300 billion. Thats what changing our nation from agro based economy to an industrialised nation. The communication policy adopted by BN enable you and me to connect online via so many internet protocols as we have one of the best broadband infrastructure in the region. So in short, Anwar and Pakatan goons can fool some simpleton who make simplistic summary of our national political issues. But if you look deeper, the crux of the matter is something else. 'I want Najib to win, Anwar not fit to be PM'

WHENEVER Tun Daim Zainuddin is not orbiting the globe, he will be holed up in his workstation at Wisma YPR (Yayasan Pok Rafeah, named after his late mother).

His desk is one sprawling clutter of printouts and financial analyses helpfully sent daily by an organisation headed by a friend -- a former prime minister of a neighbouring Asian country.

The hallway is in a different galaxy. It is virtually an art gallery. He owns more than 2,000 paintings. Some paintings are now worth 10 times what he paid for. He was chairman of the National Art Gallery before he joined the cabinet. The lawyer-turned-housing developer who later became finance minister (twice) is not selling.

The range of passions is bewildering. He is a fan of Datuk Shah Rukh Khan. Daim is a significant shareholder of a bank with many branches in Africa. He is chairman of the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) audit committee.

At 74, he plays badminton with increasingly younger mates. And, he displays a Manchester United replica jersey autographed by Sir Bobby Charlton.

"I am a busybody," he explained as he greeted New Straits Times journalists -- A. JALIL HAMID, RASHID YUSOF and HARIZ MOHD -- and photographer, ZAHARI ZAKARIA, to kickstart a series of exhaustive interviews.

Daim, who had precipitated a near-crash of the stock market in 1994 with his "sell" advice and later named "chief conspirator" by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, has since sparked a media frenzy for a new reason.

It is political punditry, having correctly predicted the outcome of the March 2008 general election; so the NST prodded him for new predictions. We probed his political allegiance and provoked him even as the sessions shifted focus from one hot topic to another.

By the time we were done, newer perspectives and insights had been gleaned from the political events of the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, the future of Umno, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Anwar, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Lee Kuan Yew, to the rise of China and the Arab Spring (which he jokingly referred to as "the Arab Fall").

The resultant Qs and As will run in two parts. This instalment deals mostly with the immediate political questions.

"If you ask me, between the two, Najib or Anwar, I would choose Najib."

The second half of the interview, which will be published tomorrow, discusses, among others, key events in the "Mahathir Years".

Question: Tun, since your retirement, you have given a number of interviews to the Chinese dailies, but hardly any to the mainstream media. Any particular reason for this?

Answer: I have been asked to give so many interviews, but all they wanted to know is when will the elections be held and what is my prediction of the outcome. So, before the election, which I predict will be by next month (he laughs), this will be my last interview.

I don't want to give any more interviews because all of you only ask about the elections and it's quite tiresome.

Also, I don't want people to misquote me. I heard people say that I had said BN would win only three states. That is not true. You must read my answers in full. I said BN, in particular Umno, must work hard, stay united and put up the best candidates to win.

Yes, I have given interviews to Chinese press mostly. The Chinese wanted to understand the thinking of the Malays. To address their concerns, I must know what is in their minds, their fears and their aspirations and they wanted to know if our economic policies are right. They want peace in the country and they know to have peace, you need political stability.

Have you read their articles on government policies? Someone will whisper to the government about this or that paper, or that this writer is being anti-establishment.

I say, "Stop!" I have read their articles. While they do criticise, they are not being anti-establishment. You argue with facts and statistics. The process will produce a healthy debate.

Question: So, for you, being critical does not mean one is anti-establishment. Are you also saying that the pattern of voicing out may not necessarily cost Barisan Nasional votes?

Answer: Precisely. That is my central argument. I have always advocated a robust debate. Over the years, I personally do find certain policies objectionable, but I am still a supporter of the government as there are more good policies than bad.

For the rest of the nation, if you disagree with government policies, yes, go ahead and criticise, but constructively. I would fear more for the country if people gave up and didn't care. I believe that it is only when you care that you want things to be for the better, that you voice out. A passive passionless society will be a disaster for the country.

Question: Still on politics associated with the Chinese community, parallels had been drawn between DAP and PAP (People's Action Party). Is this a fair comparison?

Answer: I don't think there is much of a relationship.

I think Lee Kuan Yew does not have much respect for DAP's leadership. The quality is not there. Earlier on, yes, when they had a branch here, when Devan Nair was here, and Zain Azahari joined the PAP. Zain is still around and practises law. I think there were many intellectuals who joined the PAP. That would be the crowd who would follow Kuan Yew.

The PAP is more intelligent and more calculating, very suave in their approach. The DAP is really a Chinese party. It's not a multiracial party. It's chauvinistic, but claims to be Malaysian Malaysia.

You can see in its last party election, members don't want even a single Malay to be in the top leadership.

This is very clear. That is their idea of Malaysian Malaysia. Whatever their leadership may claim, their members are their main drivers.

Pas has similar problems.

When the issue of kalimah Allah cropped up, the leadership thought they could simply follow the lead taken by Anwar. But the grassroots responded by rejecting the stand of its leadership. And the Majlis Syura also said "no".

If the Chinese don't understand this, they will be sorely mistaken when push comes to shove.

Question: What about Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR)?

Answer: PKR has always been a one-man show. Its history is a party fighting for Anwar. They are former Umno members. Later, some liberals joined them, taken in by the rallying call of justice and fairness, but it's just pure "sloganeering". It is actually fighting just for one man, not even for justice. Who have they fought for? What cause have they pursued? See the stand on Palestine. It is a question of justice and humanitarian cause. They support Israel.

Question: And Pakatan Rakyat?

Answer: When you are elected to Parliament, you debate in Parliament. We do it in a civilised way. We elect people and we address them as "The Honourable Member". PKR is a party born from the streets. So, it will always return to the streets. That is their culture. So, you can see demonstrations in the streets organised, or supported by them. Pas was never like that. The DAP was never like that.

Anwar had repeatedly said there would be Arab Spring-like demonstrations should Pakatan lose in the next general election because of what they deem as "cheating".

He has set the stage to justify their losses if they lose in the next general election.

Pakatan is prepping the people so that they can scapegoat the government and the Election Commission.

First, we are not an Arab country. And second, if there is rigging in previous general elections, how did Pakatan win five states in 2008?

Arab Spring has turned out to be Arab Fall (for the lack of a unifying leadership and instability it has induced).

Question: Arab Fall?

Answer: You should read the history of Egypt under King Farouk, then only can you understand the mood and feelings at the time of the coup in 1952.

I visited Egypt at the end of my studies in the late 1950s and it saddens me how these freedom fighters had failed to run their countries successfully.

They had failed to raise the standard of living of their people and during my last visit a few years back, there's still the same poverty.

You must read Gamal Abdul Nasser's Revolt of the Nile. It is a small book but it has frightened the West that they compared him with Hitler. We are not from the Arab World. You must understand the background of the Middle East, why it is not happening and will not happen here in the East.

You want deaths in our streets? You want to see bloodshed? (Pan Arab nationalism dated back to July 1952 when Gamal, a colonel in the Egyptian army, led his secret group "Free Officers" to overthrow King Farouk 1, who was the king of Egypt and Sudan.

(His successful revolt was made an example by several other military officers in the Arab world to dethrone their monarchs, including Iraqi General Abd al-Karim Qasim in 1958 (the coup against the Hashemite monarchy) and Libyan Muammar Gaddafi, who led a group of young military officers, to overthrow King Idris 1 in 1969.)

Question: What of Malaysian politics and the changing geopolitical landscape and events elsewhere?

Answer: China and Japan had demonstrated their qualities as genuine friends of this country at the height of the Asian Financial Crisis.

China decided not to devalue its currency, while Japan handed Malaysia a US$5 billion (RM15.6 billion) soft loan. Its then vice-finance minister Eisuke Sakakibara told me not to tell the Americans of the gesture.

The United States did not want to help us, for reasons too numerous to enumerate here.

Anwar has this tendency of toeing the American line.

If anything happens to Malaysia's economy, the US and European countries, whose economies are falling apart, would not bother to help.

If we keep toeing the American line, what would our friends think? They were the ones who helped us, while the US tried to sink us.

China is now the second largest economy and it is growing.

President Barack Obama has quickly visited Myanmar and tilted his foreign policy towards the Pacific, which is about balancing the influence of China.

There is already an economic crisis now in Europe, the US and Japan.

China, India, Brazil and Russia all are slowing down; we must not have the wrong team to manage the economy.

The danger here is somebody with no experience, who has shown no capability of handling the last crisis. There is going to be a big danger that we may go down. And nobody is going to help us. Because the US, their good friend, and Europe will not be helping us. They are in trouble themselves.

It is dangerous if Pakatan under Anwar is to lead the country. I am worried as he does not have the depth in economy, always needed people to tell him -- what to think and what to do.

So far, there has not been even one significant idea from Anwar as the economic adviser to the Selangor government.

Worse, Selangor has badly handled its water issue, which had dismayed developers, investors and the people. Of course, they will blame everything on the Federal Government despite the fact the Langat 2 water project was planned before they came to power in the state.

Why doesn't he become economic adviser to Kelantan and Kedah if Pakatan believes he is good?

Think seriously. Think of our future.

Question: Anwar believes that he is destined to become the next prime minister.

Answer: Well, destiny is an act of God. You can be only one heartbeat away from that post but man proposes, God disposes. I think God still loves Malaysia (smiles).

Question: What are BN's chances in the general election? Will it be able to secure a two-thirds majority?Answer: There you go again, the election questions. Well, I would say Barisan will win. It is good that the government (BN) thinks it can get a two-thirds majority. That should be their target.

Umno has about 3.3 million members, MCA about one million and MIC, about 600,000. That's already about half of the voters. Now, you only need some support from the fence-sitters, you should then be able to win. But BN must put new and clean candidates who are acceptable to voters.

But before BN can win, there must be unity within the coalition. If they are not united, Pakatan will do better. That's what happened in 2008.

Stay united, be loyal and don't sabotage. We need a steady and experienced hand. Only BN has the experience.

We have gone through crisis after crisis, and recovered very quickly. We have to tell the Chinese that we cannot experiment. Look at Japan. Look around us. Look at Britain. Study what is happening.

Question: Personally, do you want to see Najib win this election?

Answer: If you ask me, between the two, Najib or Anwar, I would choose Najib. I will give Najib the chance. Give him the mandate and see whether he delivers because Anwar has had his chances, but he blew them.

I want Najib to win because I don't think Anwar is the right candidate to be prime minister.

I believe he will mess up the country by getting advice from the likes of the IMF (International Monetary Fund), World Bank and Wolfowitz (Paul Wolfowitz, former World Bank president).

I will support Najib, but he must fight corruption and crime, strengthen the nation's security and review the education system. Make English compulsory in all national schools. Without English, we are dead, especially the Malays. The Malays must realise, without English they cannot compete. We must insist on English as a second language.

It was not a mistake to change the medium of instruction from English to Bahasa Malaysia. It is the language of the nation and of unity. If we don't speak the same language, how do we understand one another?

The mistake was in the policies which were to promote Bahasa Malaysia, it had to be at the expense of English. We should not have to kill English to make Bahasa Malaysia the lingua franca of the country.

If possible, we should learn Arabic, because the rich Arab countries will be where the money comes from.

On the nation's security, every day in the media and on television, there are news reports of murder and crime. You say our country is safe, but if people don't feel safe, they will not believe you regardless of the statistics.

On corruption, tell the rakyat that the government is serious in wanting to get rid of it. But it cannot do it alone, it needs the rakyat's help. Raise the awareness of rakyat on the evils of corruption and get schools involved in it. Educate the students. If the government and rakyat work together, we can succeed. It is a two-way thing. The government alone cannot fight corruption. People must be clean and honest. Don't just blame the government. Tepuk sebelah tangan tak berbunyi. If people are honest and clean, the government, too, can be clean. The government must come down strongly on those who are corrupt.

Question: The pledges and promises Najib made, are they good for the country?

Answer: Give Najib a chance. Five years. Test him. Give him the mandate. He is doing a fairly good job. Let's see him deliver and continue with his transformation policies.

Najib should reshuffle the cabinet. Bring in new faces. People think he is carrying too much deadwood in the cabinet. Most are already past their use-by date.

KUALA LUMPUR 22 Mac - Pendaftar Pertubuhan (ROS) menghadapi kesukaran untuk menyelesaikan siasatan berhubung kesilapan yang berlaku dalam pemilihan Jawatankuasa Kerja Pusat (CEC) DAP berikutan tidak mendapat kerjasama daripada pemimpin tertinggi parti itu.

Ketua Pengarahnya, Datuk Abdul Rahman Othman berkata, pihaknya telah menghantar notis memanggil seorang pemimpin tertinggi parti itu baru-baru ini ke pejabat ROS untuk memberi keterangan bagaimanapun beliau memberi pelbagai alasan seperti tiada masa.

Menurut beliau, berikutan berlakunya kelewatan dalam proses mengambil keterangan, maka kerja-kerja siasatan turut tergantung selain melambatkan proses siasatan secara keseluruhannya.

''Kita telah menghantar notis jemputan memberi keterangan kepada pemimpin DAP tersebut tetapi dia belum dapat menghadirkan diri dan dimaklumkan beliau tiada masa.

Blog yang mengeluarkan aksi seks nya dengan seorang lelaki adalah blog rajagoyang360 blogspot dan kemudiannya dimuat naik oleh puluhan blog termasuk lah dengan portal milik PAS iaitu Harakah Daily yang kemudiannya memadam artikel berkenaan hasil dari tekanan pihak atasan dalam PAS.

Video ke 2 rakaman sulit Anwar Ibrahim meliwat mahasiswa pula telah pun Gomo pertontonkan kepada rakan blogger Mega Bidaman, Gelombang Wangsa Maju, seorang Wartawan media penyiaran dan juga kepada seorang pemimpin kanan PAS.

Terus terang Gomo katakan klip video pertama akan membuatkan sesiapa yang melihat dan mendengarnya akan MUNTAH HIJAU. Klip video kedua pula Gomo yakin akan ada yang pengsan dan melopong mulut sampai tidak mampu untuk meluahkan apa apa selain dari Cacian dan Makian kepada Anwar Bin Ibrahim.

Mana kan tidak video kedua itu dengan paparan dan audio nya mempamerkan rintihan dan rayuan mahasiswa tersebut yang diliwat Anwar Ibrahim. FIRST TIME diliwat menyebabkan mahasiswa tersebut meratap kesakitan yang teramat sangat.

Sekali lagi Gomo mengharapkan Anwar Ibrahim akan segera berundur dari pentas politik kerana jika paparan video ini dikeluarkan maka AIB yang datang akan membuatkan Wan Azizah, Nurul Izzah serta menantu Anwar Ibrahim iaitu suami kepada Nurul Izzah tidak akan mampu menjawap segala galanya.

Kali ini dengan video jelas, warna serta audio yang jelas pastinya memberikan pengarajan yang berguna buat Anwar Ibrahim sebelum beliau bersara dari politik.

Gomo seorang Islam, tidak lah Gomo seorang yang Alim ataupun penuh sembahyangnya. Bukanlah juga Gomo seorang Ustaz apatahlagi Ulama tetapi apa yang Gomo lakukan ini adalah kerana Malaysia. Gomo sayang Malaysia ini dan Gomo tidak mahu pemimpin yang menerajui negara adalah pemimpin yang tidak bermoral serta jijik kelakuannya. Tugas Gomo adalah nak menyedarkan rakyat Malaysia terutama umat Islam bahawa Anwar Ibrahim tidak layak untuk menerajui negara.

Jika kaum Cina boleh abaikan mengenai masaalah moral tetapi tidak kita umat Islam Malaysia ini. Dan Gomo sendiri pun yakin bahawa negara negara luar juga menolak pemimpin yang mempunyai masaalah moral sepertimana yang berlaku kepada Bill Clinton bekas Presiden Amerika Syarikat.

Apa sekalipun 6 jam tempoh hayat untuk keluarga Dato Sri Anwar Ibrahim menasihati Anwar agar segera membuat permohonan Maaf kepada Papagomo.

KUALA LUMPUR 20 Mac - Pengerusi Barisan Pembebasan Islam Moro (MILF), Murad Ebrahim ( gambar) hari ini menyangkal dakwaan Nur Misuari yang menuduh MILF telah dipergunakan oleh Malaysia untuk menuntut Sabah.

Sebaliknya beliau menegaskan dakwaan tersebut semata-mata satu bentuk pembohongan dan pihaknya juga tidak pernah berbincang mengenai isu Sabah dalam rundingan damai.

"Maka ini adalah tuduhan yang tidak munasabah. Sangat tidak berasas. Saya tidak pasti apa niat dia. Pertama sekali, bukan Malaysia yang ingin menuntut Sabah kerana Sabah memang terletak dalam Malaysia.

"Bukan Filipina yang ingin menuntut Sabah. Isu tuntutan Sabah tiada kena mengena dengan rundingan damai antara MILF dan kerajaan Filipina kerana rundingan itu hanya antara Filipina dan masyarakat Bangsamoro," katanya ketika dipetik dalam siaran Buletin Utama TV3, malam ini.

Beliau mengulas dakwaan bekas Pengerusi Barisan Pembebasan Kebangsaan Moro (MNLF), Misuari dalam wawancara eksklusif dengan Al-Jazeera yang disiarkan di Manila Ahad lalu, yang menuduh Malaysia campur tangan dalam hal ehwal Islam Moro di selatan Filipina dan mendakwa Kuala Lumpur menjajah Sabah dan Sarawak.

Dakwa Misuari, MILF merupakan alat penjajahan Malaysia di kedua-dua negeri tersebut serta menjadi penghalang kepada usaha penyatuan MILF dan MNLF dalam usaha perjanjian damai itu.

Sementara itu, Ketua Sekretariat MILF, Mohammad Ameen berkata, pihaknya menafikan sekeras-kerasnya dakwaan Misuari kononnya kerajaan Malaysia menggunakan MILF untuk memperkukuh tuntutan Kuala Lumpur ke atas Sabah dan Sarawak.

Beliau berkata, dakwaan Misuari kononnya Malaysia merupakan punca perpecahan masyarakat Moro di selatan Filipina juga tidak berasas sama sekali.

Sebaliknya, beliau mengingatkan Misuari bahawa kerajaan Malaysia yang membantu mengusahakan Persidangan Solidariti Bangsamoro (BSC) pada 2002 bagi menyatukan kumpulan-kumpulan itu terutama dalam mempromosi kedudukan mereka supaya diiktiraf Pertubuhan Kerjasama Islam (OIC).

"Misuari telah melakukan dosa besar atas kenyataan tidak bertanggungjawab dan kejam terhadap MILF dan kerajaan Malaysia. Dia perlu memperbetul dan menebus dosa besar ini.

"Bagaimana Malaysia boleh menggunakan MILF untuk memperkuatkan tuntutan ke atas Sabah apabila Sabah tidak pernah menjadi sebahagian agenda perbincangan damai sejak 2001," katanya seperti dipetik menerusi http://www.luwaran.com hari ini.

Mohammad Ameen memberitahu, Malaysia tidak pernah menawarkan diri mengusahakan pelan damai GPH-MILF tetapi Presiden, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo yang meminta bantuan Malaysia berhubung perkara itu pada 2001, selepas presiden sebelum beliau, Joseph Estrada cenderung untuk memerangi MILF pada 2000.

"Mengapa Misuari bersungguh-sungguh menyokong tuntutan ke atas Sabah sekarang sedangkan sepanjang 21 tahun rundingan damai dengan kerajaan Filipina, dia tidak pernah membangkitkan isu itu dan Sabah juga tidak termasuk dalam Perjanjian Damai Terakhir GRP-MNLF pada 1996," katanya.

Menurutnya, tindakan Misuari amat dikesali kerana menyalahkan semua pihak walhal hakikatnya dia gagal memimpin MNLF selama ini serta kedudukannya yang semakin tidak relevan dalam perjuangan penentuan nasib Bangsamoro.

"Sebagai pemimpin, Misuari tidak mempunyai apa-apa untuk dibuktikan, maka lebih baik dia berehat, tulis memoir dan membiarkan lapisan pemimpin baharu mengetuai masyarakat Bangsamoro bagi menjayakan aspirasi sebenar mereka," katanya.

KUALA LUMPUR 14 Mac - Kementerian Pelajaran telah mengeluarkan kenyataan akhbar berhubung isu seorang guru yang didakwa telah mengeluarkan pernyataan menghina anggota polis yang bertugas di Lahad Datu, Sabah melalui laman sosial, Facebook.

Kenyataan tersebut dibuat oleh Ketua Pengarah Pelajaran, Tan Sri Abd. Ghafar Mahmud di sini hari ini.

KENYATAAN AKHBAR BERKAITAN SEORANG GURU DI KELANTAN MENGHINA ANGGOTA POLIS MELALUI LAMAN FACEBOOK

1. Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia (KPM) ingin merujuk kepada kenyataan yang disiarkan menerusi laman Facebook seorang guru di negeri Kelantan yang membuat posting dengan kata-kata yang boleh dianggap menghina pasukan keselamatan kita yang sedang bertugas dalam `Ops Daulat di Lahad Datu, Sabah bagi mempertahankan kedaulatan negara yang tercinta. Penulisan di laman Facebook tersebut dengan jelas melakukan penghinaan terhadap pasukan keselamatan kita khususnya Polis DiRaja Malaysia.

2. Adalah dimaklumkan bahawa KPM tidak akan berkompromi dengan kenyataan biadap yang dilakukan oleh guru berkenaan dan akan memastikan tindakan tegas diambil atas perbuatan tersebut. Seorang guru sepatutnya menjalankan amanah yang dipikul dengan penuh tanggungjawab malah sepatutnya menjadi model semangat patriotisme kepada masyarakat khususnya anak didik mereka. Pasukan keselamatan yang sedang bertugas menyambung nyawa di perbatasan demi maruah dan kedaulatan negara sedang melaksanakan tanggungjawab dan amanah yang sangat mulia. Kenyataan menghina tersebut telah mengguris hati banyak pihak khususnya keluarga mereka serta menjejaskan reputasi dan imej warga pendidikan dalam negara ini yang sentiasa memberi sokongan padu kepada PDRM dan ATM.

3. KPM serta seluruh warga pendidikan juga sentiasa mendoakan agar pasukan keselamatan kuat yang sedang bertugas di perbatasan sentiasa selamat dan dikurniakan kekuatan serta semangat kental dalam mempertahankan maruah dan kedaulatan negara kita yang tercinta ini.

Peguam bela Karpal Singh diminta nyatakan pendirian

KUALA LUMPUR 2 Jan. - Pengerusi DAP, Karpal Singh yang juga peguam bela kes liwat Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim diminta menyatakan pendiriannya berhubung rancangan pakatan pembangkang menganjurkan demonstrasi jalanan menerusi Kempen Bebaskan Anwar 901.

Pengerusi Barisan Nasional (BN) Kuala Pilah, Datuk Hassan Malek berkata, beliau hairan kerana sehingga kini Karpal langsung tidak memberi sebarang reaksi terhadap rancangan itu yang secara terang-terangan mempertikaikan sistem kehakiman negara.

Menurutnya, Karpal perlu menyuarakan pendiriannya dalam perkara itu agar ia dapat diketahui umum dan seterusnya mengelak tanggapan negatif sesetengah pihak terhadapnya.

"Kita ingin tahu pendirian Karpal dalam soal ini kerana Kempen Bebaskan Anwar 901 juga berkait dengan beliau. Ia melibatkan individu (Anwar) yang beliau bela di mahkamah," katanya ketika dihubungi Utusan Malaysia di sini hari ini.

Pakatan pembangkang giat mempengaruhi orang ramai terutama mahasiswa supaya menyertai demonstrasi jalanan itu pada 9 Januari ini iaitu tarikh Mahkamah Tinggi membuat keputusan terhadap kes liwat yang dihadapi Anwar.

Kata Hasan, sebagai pengamal undang-undang, Karpal seharusnya maklum sebarang kegiatan seperti Kempen Bebaskan Anwar 901 berkaitan dengan usaha-usaha membelakangkan sistem perundangan negara.

Sehubungan itu, beliau mendesak Karpal menyuarakan pendiriannya dalam isu tersebut sama ada menyokong pelaksanaan kempen berkenaan atau sebaliknya.

"Sepatutnya Karpal maklum dalam perkara ini bahawa anak guamnya sudah diberi peluang membela diri dan menjalani proses perbicaraan yang sewajarnya, tetapi adakah wajar demonstrasi jalanan ini diadakan.

"Kita mahu tahu apa sikap beliau (Karpal) dalam perkara ini, lebih-lebih lagi beliau peguam bela Anwar. Jangan sampai beliau juga terlibat membelakangkan sistem perundangan negara," kata Hasan.

Salam... my thoughts of the day... Wednesday 22th September 2010.

1. Utusan Melayu. Sila klik sini. Just like the rest of you.., i cudnt care less what happened to Utusan Malaysia. BUT... but that was before I read this thought provoking article from Mc. To be honest, i knew all along abt Utusan's issues/problems. BUT, just like the rest of you, I chose to ignore them with my 'cudnt care less' attitude. After reading this piece from Mc, i realised now that something need to be done to assist Utusan. UMNO shud take the lead. It is the least that can do. Bukan takde duit pun!! Come on la, we all know that Utusan wont make much money... why dont UMNO just help them financially.. keep them alive/afloat so as they can publish daily with no hiccup. Consider it like a PRO-BONO work. With this financial guarantee for Utusan, at least their editors can just concentrate on writing good articles, as voice of the malay majority, educating and reminding us the MALAYS.., without having to worry abt where money will come from next.... for Utusan survival...

and err please tolong, include kan, kalau bule, on daily basis, at least 1 of 2 full pages in JAWI. Sminggu skali tak cukup!! Kalao bule UTUSAN ONLINE dalam JAWI pun cantek gak. At least ramai orang bule practise baca dlm jawi, mudahan lebih lancar baca AL-QURAN, dapat gak pahala lebih. Saje je nak share, ramai melayu yg buta jawi lar ni.. tak caya? pi try buat tadarus kat opis tu.. brape ramai yg confident nak take the lead masa tadarus..? bule kira dengan jari laaar... tsk..tsk... So UMNO, listen, do the right thing. Kalo aku multi-millionaire, aku pun sanggup sponsor... buat amal jariah untuk untk bekalan akhirat kelak... kalo lah.....

2. Brader ANUAR & Gambling. Memang tak dapat dipisahkan. Sila klik sini. Anuar kalo pasal cakap memang berapi, kaki klentong memang camtu. Sungguh islamik. Tetapi itulah politik. Persepsi saje yg penting. Cuba tanya NALLA-Magnum. Magnum ada kaitan ke dgn ULAMAK LIWAT ANUAR ni? heheh, sendiri pikir la ek... tapi mcm biasala MELAYU MEMANG MUDAH di klentong. Sori.. sedih tapi benar.....

3. Mintak maaf agak kasar sikit, tetapi PAS memang menggunakan ISLAM untuk kepentingan politik. PAS memang dah lama klentong umat islam di Msia. so, kalo depa klentong, aku tak terperanjat pun. 4. Pemandu 'exhibition' at the PWTC yesterday on the Government Transformation Program (GTP), the Economic Transformation Program (ETP), the NKEAs, KRAs. Slumberjack's super corridors? Ring any bell?? Is our PM being conned alive??

Never like this IDRIS JALA chap anyway. you know, the chap who says we and ZIMBABWE are the same kind?? Another good piece from TUAN SYED di sini. Dont even want to elaborate. For the sake of UMNO, i do hope PM NAJIB read this piece. We do want to help you datok seri, but we need bullets, good ones, for us to help you. UMNO is in deep shit hole anyway, dont push it deeper. We dont need another scandal. Bro Anuar and his 'melayu yg tak sedar diri' gang, will make a good 'meal' out of this.

5. DAP - hipokrit. Itupan ada melayu nak sokong... budus. sila klik sini.

Saya berharap BN akan meletakkan calon UMNO untuk kerusi Parlimen Hulu Selangor berikutan kematian calon PKR.

Ini adalah berdasarkan kepada perkara2 di bawah:

1. Statistik pengundi melayu adalah melebihi pengundi bukan Melayu, sila lihat statistik di bawah:
The Malays make up 53.9 per cent of the more than 60,000 voters in the constituency. The Chinese vote pool there stands at 26.7 per cent, and Indians, approximately 19 per cent, while other races are at 0.41 per cent.

2. Parti MIC bercelaru. Pengundi kaum India hanyalah 26.7 peratus shj, saya rasa mereka tak akan mengundi BN. MIC pun depa tak percaya camane?

3. BN harus melihat kepada majoriti pengundi melayu yang berada di Hulu Selangor, kalau diletak calon MIC, undi akan pecah kerana mereka tak akan mengundi calon MIC,

4. Harus di ingat pada PRU 12, pengundi bukan melayu secara rata2 tidak mengundi BN,

5. Undi melayu akan bertambah jika calon UMNO di ketengahkan, bukan macam PRU 12, orang melayu pun tak mengundi BN pasal Pak Lah flip flop dan menantunya KJ si KITOL,

6. Pengundi melayu akan lebih cenderung mengundi BN, jika BN meletakkan calon dari UMNO,

7. PKR tengah berpecah belah, inilah masanya BN meng'utilise' kelebihan UMNO yang sedang bersatu di SELANGOR.

8. Pengundi Cina? MCA is hopeless... so dont count on them... concentrate on the Malay votes!

9. And oh.. jgn libatkan KJ si kitol dari pilihanraya kecil ni... BN will do just fine.....

I've read article by DPM Muhyidin, and just I've read similar article, but this time from the PM Najib himself.. read here from NST

Najib says ""The authorities know what to do. It’s up to them," This is probably the strongest hint yet to his minister from KDN. Somewhat lately, I think KDN has been mellowing down... some even suggest KDN is turning 'gayish' hehehe or some might say sotongi....

I personally say, this is the time to uphold laws! After all the majority (read BN voters) are behind KDN through the elected government, or do you want the majority to vote PKR, PAS, DAP etc?

But this time around, do it professionally... I know for a fact that our police force is very competent. just do it!

This time around, take in whovever flouts the law... charge them immediately. Ini termasuklah si penipu2 mcm juak2 pembangkang.. smua bende depa nak kencin... takde satu bende pun yg kerajaan buat yg elok.

Anuar knows what he did was wrong, tu yg cepat jek lari pi UK.. hahaha kepanasan.....

ps: part TREASON tu, aku tak confirm la, pi la carik mana2 loyar tanya, kes nuar tipu dgn menggunakan nama Agong tu masuk kriteria apa?

Bagus juga rasanya dengan cadangan tersebut, tapi lebih elok jika kerajaan menyuarakan bantahan secara rasmi. Called up the ambasador/konsulat, tell them clearly, we as an ISLAMIC country are deeply saddened etc.. etc..

Aduss... takde langsung ke gov agencies yg bule berpikiaq skit, take initiatives, proactives... err KSU sila ambil perhatian....

Kalo tak jalan, suruh jek our foreign minister or JAKIM. Explain to them, that stereotyping ISLAM as terrorist is deeply un called for!

Kalo tak leh gak, last step barulah bule boikot..

Hina Nabi: Umat Islam digesa boikot barangan Sweden

KUALA LUMPUR 16 Mac – Seorang penyokong kerajaan menyarankan umat Islam di negara ini memboikot barangan keluaran Sweden sebagai bantahan terhadap tindakan tiga akhbar negara itu menyiarkan lakaran karikatur menghina Nabi Muhammad S.A.W.

Datuk Ismail Mohamed Said (BN-Kuala Krau) berkata, kerajaan Sweden perlu memohon maaf kepada umat Islam di seluruh dunia kerana kejahilan warganya iaitu pelukis Lars Vilks yang jelas tidak menghormati agama Islam.

"Mereka seharusnya memahami perasaan penganut agama lain dalam memastikan keseimbangan berterusan dalam setiap perkara,” katanya ketika membahas usul menjunjung kasih titah ucapan Yang di-Pertuan Agong di Dewan Rakyat di sini.

Lakaran karikatur berkenaan yang pada mulanya dikemukakan kepada sebuah pusat warisan budaya Sweden untuk pameran, ditolak atas sebab-sebab keselamatan, tetapi sebuah akhbar Sweden kemudian menyiarkannya.

Ini membawa kepada bantahan negara-negara Islam dan Vilks menerima beberapa ancaman bunuh.

Pada 10 Mac lepas, tiga akhbar Sweden lain menyiarkan semula karikatur itu.

"Tidakkah mereka terfikir disebabkan kejahilan tersebut boleh memberi kesan yang tidak baik seperti yang berlaku pada tahun 2008, apabila akhbar Denmark, Politiken yang menyiarkan perkara sama dan kemudiannya mendapat kecaman masyarakat Islam seluruh dunia,” kata Ismail. – Bernama

GST for the layperson in Malaysia — The Black Cactus

MARCH 14 — On 24th Of November, Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Razak had announced the introduction of Goods And Services Tax ( also known as Value Added Tax ) to replace the existing Sales And Services Tax ( of 5 per cent ) in the near future. The date scheduled would be roughly in the third quarter of year 2011. It has faced stiff opposition upon tabling in Parliamentary sittings, stating that Malaysians are not ready to deal with the full brunt of a tax that would ultimately make end users ( consumers ) pay for the entire tax imposed on every purchase amounting to the initial 4 per cent proposed ( which will increase as it did in many other countries implementing this policy ).

The question remains whether the government and most importantly, the citizens of Malaysia, are prepared to embrace this new taxation system wholeheartedly when policy makers do not make it a point to educate the layperson the true nature of this policy and its mechanics. Though it was promised that this system would help bring in a total of RM1 billion in the first year of its implementation, many do not realise that there has been much outflight of capital due to

* Widespread corruption ( a simple example that would strike a chord among readers would be the PKFZ scandal which cost taxpayers around RM 17 billion — equivalent of 17 years of GST ).
* Wastages in expenditure of money in government coffers (for building crooked bridges linking Singapore )

Malaysia has been stuck with fiscal deficits for more than a decade. The budget deficit is projected to have ballooned to a record high of more than 7 per cent of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) last year, although the Government is determined to bring that level down to 5.6 per cent of GDP this year, and less than 4 per cent of GDP by 2015. Apparently the Government’s revenues cannot keep pace with the growth of its operating and development expenditures over the 12 years.

There are more examples that could have been stated but the above gives a clear impression on how many issues that has to be dealt with before we start to give GST a chance.
Having said that, if GST implemented in the right atmosphere, could spur economic growth and prosperity. It would bring Malaysia closer towards trade liberalisation which is imperative if Malaysians wish to compete on a global business scale. This article will also highlight the benefits of GST shortly.

Hence, the main aim of this article would be raise awareness and educate the layperson on the street about how GST works, what are the stakes that are being raised with its implementation and how would GST affect an average consumer.

• Terminologies Made Easy / What Is GST?
• Terminologies Worth Understanding

Before proceeding further in explaining the details behind GST, it is worthwhile to have a grasp on the frequently used terminologies that one might encounter while reading about any taxation system. The appendix at the end of this article will serve as a reference which might make it easier to comprehend GST ( please read below ).

What Are The Types Of Taxes?

The taxpayers are taxed in two ways ( direct and indirect taxes ). Examples of direct taxes are income tax and road tax ( in which taxpayers will definitely realise their tax burden and pay to the government accordingly ). Another way of taxation is through indirect taxes, where taxpayers don’t realise that they are being taxed since the amount of tax is already included in the selling price ( namely GST ).

What Is GST?
GST basically means Goods And Services Tax ( or Value Added Tax ) which is scheduled to replace the current Sales Tax at 5 per cent. It was invented by a French economist called Maurice Laure in 1954.

GST is an indirect type of tax. The cost of tax is finally imposed on the consumer or end user though each step in the supply chain will collect tax and returned to the government. However, the supply chain can also claim back the GST included in the product that they buy ( a simple way how it works will be depicted in easy to understand diagram in Part 3 : The Mechanics Of GST ).

GST is crucial in the steps leading up to full trade liberalisation. This is done by compensating revenue loss (government money ) by reducing tariffs ( tax on imported goods ) while maintaining gains in production by moving producer prices to world prices. This will make Malaysian business market more competitive in the international market.

The problem is according to studies ( Emran & Stiglitz 2005 ) is that broader taxes like GST will reduce social welfare because developing countries like Malaysia has a large informal sector (refer appendix below for definition ).

What Is The Difference Between GST and Sales Tax?

Both sales tax and GST are consumption based taxed ( meaning it is based on how much and what you purchase ).
The main difference is that sales tax is charged on certain classes of locally manufactured goods and similar imported goods. Some goods are not charged if specifically exempted by order of the Ministry of Finance.

GST is broader, and each step of the process from manufacturer to retailer is taxed

*Appendix

Tariff
* Tax placed on imported goods and consists of a few types namely — Revenue, Ad Valorem, Prohibitive and Protective

Revenue Tariff
* Designed to increase government funds
* For example, a country not growing bananas can create tariff on importing bananas
* Hence this will allow collecting money from businesses that import bananas

Informal Sector
* Economic activity that is neither taxed or monitored by government

Input Tax Credit
* An amount allowed to offset GST included in the price paid for getting a material

GST Exemptions
* There are some types of supplies that are not subject to GST. These are called GST-free supplies and input taxed supplies

GST Free Supplies
* Some supplies are not taxable and are called GST-free supplies.
* If a supply is GST-free, GST cannot be charged on the supply, but input tax credits may be available for anything acquired or imported for use in the enterprise.
* GST-free supplies include, but are not limited to:
* most food,
* exports,
* most health services,
* most educational supplies,
* most child care services, and non-commercial activities of charities

Input Taxed Supplies
* If a supply is input taxed:
* GST is not charged on the supply, AND
* input tax credit entitlements are not accrued for anything acquired or imported to make the supply.
* Input taxed supplies include:
* financial supplies which include most transactions relating to money,
* supplies of residential rents,
* supplies of residential supplies (except for the sale of a new house),
* supplies of precious metals, and
* supplies of food by school tuckshops.

The Mechanics Of GST
This part will discuss briefly on how GST works in a nutshell. We will attempt to learn the mechanics of GST through a very easy example. Also what will be taught is the basic calculation anyone could do to determine how much of GST you are paying for any given goods purchased.

GST Made Easy
It is imperative to know that GST is paid at each process involved in the chain of supply. Businesses that has to be registered for GST has a subjective criteria based on the legislation of that particular country, for example
* In Singapore, any business involving more than 1 million Singaporean dollars for the past quarter of the year or exceeds that amount in 12 months has to be registered
* In Australia, all businesses with an annual turnover of A$50,000 or more ( A$100,000 or more for non-profit organisations ) has to register for GST

When a business is registered for GST, it can claim input tax credit ( read the appendix of the previous entry ) for goods, services or anything that is bought for the business from the Internal Revenue Board / Royal Malaysian Customs. This means that the GST taxes flow along the supply chain and is included in the price paid by the consumer. However remember that consumers cannot claim input tax credits.

Also it should be highlighted that GST rests on the supplier of goods and services, not on the consumer. So, even if the business does not include the GST in the price of goods and services supplied, it still has to pay it to the Internal Revenue Board eventually.

Day A In The Life Of GST
Here we are going to illustrate how GST works with a very simple example which is as realistic as it gets. We will set the GST at 4 per cent

• Pak Abu, a timber logger sells timber to Muthusamy, a furniture manufacturer, for RM220 ( including RM9 GST).
• Muthusamy pays the RM9 GST to the Internal Revenue Board
• Muthusamy uses the timber to make a table and sells it to Wai Kong, a furniture retailer, for RM440 (including RM 18 GST )
• Muthusamy is entitled to an input tax credit for the RM9 GST included in the price paid to Pak Abu.
• He offsets this RM9 against the RM18 payable on the supply of the table to Wai Kong and pays RM9 to the Internal Revenue Board
• Wai Kong sells the table to Isabella, a consumer, for RM550 (including RM22 GST)
• Wai Kong is entitled to an input tax credit for the RM18 GST included in the price paid to Muthusamy.
• He offsets this RM18 against the RM22 GST payable on the supply of the table to Isabella and pays RM4 to the Internal Revenue Board.
• Isabella purchased the table for RM550
• Isabella bears the full costs of theRM22 GST as consumers cannot claim input tax credits. Total: RM22
• Still don’t get it? It’s alright, let’s break it down again to all the calculations that were done in a very self explanatory manner
• Pak Abu sells to Muthusamy for RM220

* GST is included by calculating 4/100 x 220 = RM9 GST included to product
Muthusamy makes a table after purchasing from Pak Abu at RM220 ( including RM9 GST ) and sells it to Wai Kong for RM440 plus RM18 GST

* Muthusamy sells to Wai Kong for RM440 from the RM220 he purchased from Pak Abu
* So the Value Added for services here is 440 – 220 = RM220 ( he makes profit here )
* Then Muthusamy calculates the GST of his product by 4/100 x 440 = RM18 GST
* Muthusamy then is entitled to claim RM9 GST input tax credit charged on him by Pak Abu so, RM18 – 9 = RM9 GST paid by Muthusamy

Wai Kong sells the table to Isabella the consumer for RM550 ( RM550 – 440 = RM110 is the Value Added for service charges )
* The charged GST now 4/100 x RM550 = RM22 GST included to product
* Wai Kong can claim RM18 input tax credit ( by the GST charged by Muthusamy ) hence the GST paid by Wai Kong to the Internal Revenue Board is RM22 – 18 = RM4

Isabella as the consumer bears the total cost of tax
* This amounts up all the taxes in the chain of supply meaning RM9 + 9 + 4 = RM22 ( inclusive in the RM550 of the purchase amount )

Reverse Engineering GST From A Product
Alright, so now that you have understood how GST is included in a particular product sold to the end user / consumer, now let us try to figure out how to reverse calculate the amount of GST in a product that might be purchased by you, the customer
* Say a watch is purchased at RM1000, how do you determine the GST charged on you?
* Simple, do a simple algebra like the following with ‘Y’ as the value before GST is added
* RM1000 = 4/100 x ‘Y’ + ‘Y’
* Hence, 1.04Y = RM1000
* Y = 1000 / 1.04 = RM962

* So the GST added is 1000 – 962 = RM38 to the consumer

Plain arithmetic. So long as the GST is 4 per cent you just need to divide the product price with 1.04, and if the GST is 10 per cent use 1.1 instead.

6. Inflation may happen despite the staunch rhetoric to deny that fact. Introduction of GST, consumers will end up paying the ultimate price.
7. Corruption is rampant in Malaysia - So businesses has already included ‘corruption prices’ in goods & services. How does that not reflect additional costs to consumers?
8. Out of inflation pressures, higher prices for goods & services are sought.

The Rise Of GST
Instead of painting a grim picture on the perspectives of GST ever being implemented in Malaysia, here are a few goodies that GST could deliver to our doorsteps.
1. Implementation will not be abrupt. It will be a slow & steady tax preparation so that individuals and small businesses will not be adversely affected.
2. It will replace the 10+5 per cent services and goods tax. This means taxes are lower now - Consumers need not pay more for one area, but it’s divided into many other source of ‘tax’ payments.
3. GST rates are promised at 4 per cent, out of the normal 10 per cent or 5 per cent charged in restaurants.
4. Implementation will not occur until middle to late 2011 or 2012. Planning time is essential to not put ‘inflation pressure’ on small businesses.
5. Government’s coffers will increase. This will enable further development and budget control to the country, other than relying just on petroleum or income tax revenues.
6. Tax when consumed, not when earned is much better. It allows better control. Spending influences will be “Careful” and “More controlled” when purchasing on higher prices are made rather than “taxable incomes” generated from work.
7. It’s a broad-based tax system. Some items may be slightly more expensive & cheaper. It’s not a overall standardised taxation method.

Epilogue
The government has to weigh in the pros and cons as well as the correct timing of the implementation of GST so that the burden on the society will not be increased. Much issues has to be expunged ( notably inflation, corruption and accountability ) before the bold step of putting GST into action is done.

My thoughts - Datuk Seri Najib, please scramble all gov agencies to explain more on the GST. and err, please help convince us that GST will help the rakyat marhaen, sure ke harga barang tak naik, as far as I know, all co will have to include all 4% GST in their commercial invoice, wont it increase the total value of goods. Do you think manufacturer will lower down their price becoz of no Duty/Sales tax (which is roughly abt 15%). Betui ka?

a. The new econimic policy has no special provisions for the benefits of the majority bumiputera? what do you think?

b. It is wise for the Gov to postpone / deliberate more on the executions of their economics planning, specially to accomodate the needs of the majority bumiputera.

c. It is important that the gov narrow down the ecominics gap between the majority bumiputera and the hugely succesful chinese malaysians. We dont want the country to be in chaos becoz of economic jealousy, becoz of the financial gap etc. We need to balance out the economy period.
