Giles, who worked with Microsoft, MAME and LucasArts throughout his long career, says he developed DREAMM with the goal of recreating the Windows ports of SCUMM games that he programmed in the past. Over time, the project has evolved significantly from the original concept. And it continues to do so even today, as it turns out.

As for gaming, I feel like I'm reliving an endless Groundhog Day where things repeat themselves over and over, without feeling the passage of time. Even the video game industry lives in a seemingly eternal present, where however the worst keeps getting worse and classic games risk being lost forever. Parasitic publishers like EA continue to financially abuse minors and shut down on-line servers, a barbaric practice in which Ubisoft is quite skilled as well. Actually, one thing has changed in these three years: NFTs have finally become trash, thanks in part to the actions of discredited figures such as Peter Molyneux. I hope the AI bubble will follow suit very soon.

Yeah, I know. I'm late. Again. At this point in my life, I can safely say it's a chronic condition, and there is nothing I can do about it. Or rather: what I can do is try to stitch together the billion projects I've left unfinished over the centuries, and hope that I can still get something good out of them. Or even just something vaguely interesting. Regarding the latest gaming news, this should be fairly easy as certain topics never seem to go out of fashion. Today like two years ago, the world is still waiting for GTA VI, FromSoftware fans await an impossible PC version of Bloodborne, and publishers continue to skin collectors like me with obscenely priced special editions.

Two years ago, I was complaining about the altered perception of time caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and Russia's war against Ukraine, and how the video game console business had been affected along with everything else. Now that we are nearing the end of 2025, it's time to repeat myself because the world and technology have radically changed once more. The AI bubble has driven everyone crazy, especially technology corporations constantly seeking profit at all costs. Players continue to spend a lot of money on gaming products, new machines are already on the horizon, but the obsessive greed of Big Tech has made the lives of a large number of people both inside and outside the industry a little more miserable.

Twenty-three years after the first official version was released, the original PS2 emulator can now offer near-complete compatibility with the entire library of games released for Sony's legendary console. And the developers certainly don't plan to stop there, as the project has recently undergone an almost complete overhaul compared to just a few years ago.

Actually, no, I will keep blocking AI bots via robots.txt (for what it's worth...), and my spirit as an old gamer tired of everything still is passionate about the same old topics. Starting with emulation, a world that couldn't be more alive and brimming with developments than it is right now.

I started playing Elden Ring in 2022, a couple months after the game's release. I was curious to finally experience the notorious "Souls" formula, hoping to see if this strong attraction I felt for the genre was just due to my passion for dark fantasy RPGs or was it really the best thing to do in front of a computer. After more than two years, in September I finally concluded the adventure by taking down the final boss of the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. A truly epic deed, completing one of the most absorbing, challenging and gratifying gaming experiences I have ever tried in my gamer's life.

Almost 30 years after its official release on PlayStation and PC, Resident Evil (RE) now joins the large lineup of video game classics available on GOG.com. The digital store for PC games freed from DRM shackles has announced the re-release of the first Resident Evil, while also confirming that both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 will soon arrive on the service as well. GOG worked together with Capcom to modernize RE and make it compatible with modern computing platforms, an impressive feat considering that the first three Resident Evil are notoriously among the most complicated games to run on today's PCs without using emulators or virtual machines.

While not particularly noteworthy for emulating historically important technology such as the Matrox video cards added in the aforementioned version 4.1, 86Box 4.1.1 doesn't miss the chance to add new virtual peripherals to the ever-growing list of PC hardware emulated by the program.
