Windows 7 is an operating system produced by Microsoft for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, netbooks, tablet PCs, and media center PCs; Windows 7 was released to manufacturing on July 22, 2009, and reached general retail availability worldwide on October 22, 2009, less than three years after the release of its predecessor, Windows Vista. Windows 7's server counterpart, Windows Server 2008 R2, was released at the same time. Windows 7 is succeeded by Windows 8, which was released on October 26, 2012.

Unlike Windows Vista, which introduced a large number of new features, Windows 7 was intended to be a more focused, incremental upgrade to the Windows line, with the goal of being compatible with applications and hardware with which Windows Vista was already compatible. Presentations given by Microsoft in 2008 focused on multi-touch support, an updated Windows shell with a new taskbar, referred to internally as the Superbar, a home networking system called HomeGroup, and performance improvements. Some standard applications that have been included with prior releases of Microsoft Windows, including Windows Calendar, Windows Mail, Windows Movie Maker, and Windows Photo Gallery, are not included in Windows 7; most are instead offered separately at no charge as part of the Windows Essentials suite.

New and changed features

Windows 7 includes a number of new features, such as advances in touch and handwriting recognition, support for virtual hard disks, improved performance on multi-core processors, improved boot performance, DirectAccess, and kernel improvements. Windows 7 adds support for systems using multiple heterogeneous graphics cards from different vendors (Heterogeneous Multi-adapter), a new version of Windows Media Center, a Gadget for Windows Media Center, improved media features, the XPS Essentials Pack and Windows PowerShell being included, and a redesigned Calculator with multiline capabilities including Programmer and Statistics modes along with unit conversion for length, weight, temperature, and several others. Many new items have been added to the Control Panel, including ClearType Text Tuner Display Color Calibration Wizard, Gadgets, Recovery, Troubleshooting, Workspaces Center, Location and Other Sensors, Credential Manager, Biometric Devices, System Icons, and Display. Windows Security Center has been renamed to Windows Action Center (Windows Health Center and Windows Solution Center in earlier builds), which encompasses both security and maintenance of the computer. ReadyBoost on 32-bit editions now supports up to 256 gigabytes of extra allocation. The default setting for User Account Control in Windows 7 has been criticized for allowing untrusted software to be launched with elevated privileges without a prompt by exploiting a trusted application. Microsoft's Windows kernel engineer Mark Russinovich acknowledged the problem, but noted that malware can also compromise a system when users agree to a prompt. Windows 7 also supports images in RAW image format through the addition of Windows Imaging Component-enabled image decoders, which enables raw image thumbnails, previewing and metadata display in Windows Explorer, plus full-size viewing and slideshows in Windows Photo Viewer and Windows Media Center.

The taskbar has seen the biggest visual changes, where the Quick Launch toolbar has been replaced with the ability to pin applications to the taskbar. Buttons for pinned applications are integrated with the task buttons. These buttons also enable the Jump Lists feature to allow easy access to common tasks. The revamped taskbar also allows the reordering of taskbar buttons. To the far right of the system clock is a small rectangular button that serves as the Show desktop icon. This button is part of the new feature in Windows 7 called Aero Peek. Hovering over this button makes all visible windows transparent for a quick look at the desktop. In touch-enabled displays such as touch screens, tablet PCs, etc., this button is slightly wider to accommodate being pressed with a finger. Clicking this button minimizes all windows, and clicking it a second time restores them. Additionally, there is a feature named Aero Snap, that automatically maximizes a window when it is dragged to the top of the screen. Dragging windows to the left/right edges of the screen allows users to snap documents or files on either side of the screen for comparison between windows, such that the windows vertically take up half the screen. When a user moves windows that were maximized using Aero Snap, the system restores their previous state automatically. This functionality is also accomplished with keyboard shortcuts. Unlike in Windows Vista, window borders and the taskbar do not turn opaque when a window is maximized with Windows Aero applied. Instead, they remain translucent.

For developers, Windows 7 includes a new networking API with support for building SOAP-based web services in native code (as opposed to .NET-based WCF web services), new features to shorten application install times, reduced UAC prompts, simplified development of installation packages, and improved globalization support through a new Extended Linguistic Services API. At WinHEC 2008 Microsoft announced that color depths of 30-bit and 48-bit would be supported in Windows 7 along with the wide color gamut scRGB (which for HDMI 1.3 can be converted and output as xvYCC). The video modes supported in Windows 7 are 16-bit sRGB, 24-bit sRGB, 30-bit sRGB, 30-bit with extended color gamut sRGB, and 48-bit scRGB. Microsoft has also implemented better support for solid-state drives, including the new TRIM command, and Windows 7 is able to identify a solid-state drive uniquely. Support for USB 3.0 is not included due to delays in the finalization of the standard.

Internet Spades, Internet Backgammon and Internet Checkers, which were removed from Windows Vista, were restored in Windows 7. Windows 7 includes Internet Explorer 8 and Windows Media Player 12. Users are also able to disable many more Windows components than was possible in Windows Vista. New additions to this list of components include Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, Windows Media Center, Windows Search, and the Windows Gadget Platform. Windows 7 includes 13 additional sound schemes, titled Afternoon, Calligraphy, Characters, Cityscape, Delta, Festival, Garden, Heritage, Landscape, Quirky, Raga, Savanna, and Sonata. A new version of Microsoft Virtual PC, newly renamed as Windows Virtual PC was made available for Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions. It allows multiple Windows environments, including Windows XP Mode, to run on the same machine. Windows XP Mode runs Windows XP in a virtual machine and redirects displayed applications running in Windows XP to the Windows 7 desktop. Furthermore, Windows 7 supports the mounting of a virtual hard disk (VHD) as a normal data storage, and the bootloader delivered with Windows 7 can boot the Windows system from a VHD; however, this ability is only available in the Enterprise and Ultimate editions. The Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) of Windows 7 is also enhanced to support real-time multimedia application including video playback and 3D games, thus allowing use of DirectX 10 in remote desktop environments. The three application limit, previously present in the Windows Vista and Windows XP Starter Editions, has been removed from Windows 7.

The 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup was the tenth Cricket World Cup. It was played in India, Sri Lanka, and (for the first time) Bangladesh. Pakistan was also scheduled to be a co-host, but after the 2009 attack on the Sri Lanka national cricket team in Lahore, the International Cricket Council (ICC) cancelled that, and the headquarters of the organising committee, originally in Lahore, was transferred to Mumbai. Pakistan was to have held 14 matches, including one semi-final. Eight of the games (including the semi-final) were awarded to India, four to Sri Lanka, and two to Bangladesh.

All the matches were One Day Internationals, and all were played over 50 overs. Fourteen national cricket teams took part, including ten full members and four associate members of the ICC.
The opening ceremony was held on 17 February 2011 at Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka, and the tournament was played between 19 February and 2 April. The first match was played by the Indian and Bangladeshi teams at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. The final was between India and Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

This is the game on ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and the basic concept is taken from Cricket 2007.

Office 2013 includes extended file format support, user interface updates, and support for touch. Office 2013 is suitable for IA-32 and x64 systems and requires Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 or later. It cannot be installed on Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 or other earlier versions of the operating system. However, a Windows RT version of Office 2013 is available as well.

On July 16, 2012, the Consumer Preview of Office 2013 was released to the general public. The RTM version of Office 2013 was released on October 11 and became available to TechNet and MSDN subscribers on October 24. On November 15, 2012, the trial version of the retail Office 2013 Professional Plus, Project Professional 2013 and Visio Professional 2013 were made available to the public at TechNet and MSDN.

History and development

Development started in 2010 while Microsoft was finishing work on Office 14, released as Microsoft Office 2010.

In May 2011, a build of an Office 2013 alpha build was leaked by a tester.

On January 30, 2012, Microsoft released a technical preview of Office 15, build 3612.1010, to a selected group of testers bound by non-disclosure agreements.

On July 16, 2012, Microsoft held a press conference to show off Office 2013 and to release the Consumer Preview. It is available to the general public at the Microsoft Office Preview website. The Office 2013 Consumer Preview is a free, fully functional version but will expire.

An updates was issued for the Office 2013 Customer Preview suite on October 5.

Office 2013 reached RTM milestone on October 11, 2012. Microsoft has planned general availability release for the first quarter of 2013.

New features

Office 2013 is more "cloud-based" than previous versions. This is notable as the default save location is the user's SkyDrive. Also, Microsoft is hoping that users will get Office 2013 through Office 365.

Microsoft Office 2013 includes updated support for ISO/IEC 29500, the International Standard version of Office Open XML (OOXML) file format as well as OASIS Open Document Format 1.2 which Office 2013 can read and write. Additionally, Office 2013 provides full read, write, and edit support for ISO32000 (PDF).

Microsoft also supports Office Open XML Strict, a format which Microsoft has submitted to the ISO for interoperability with other office suites, and to aid adoption in the public sector.

New features also include new Read mode in Word, a Presentation mode in PowerPoint and improved touch and inking in all of the Office programs. Microsoft Word can also insert video and audio from online sources as well as the capability to broadcast documents on the Web. Word and PowerPoint also have bookmark-like features which sync the position of the document between different computers.

#1. Pin any items to start menu?

This is just a basic tip, Who don't know how to add items to your start menu (Metro UI). you can pin folders, apps/softwares and local disks. but you can't pin any pictures and videos.

#2. Name Group of Tiles

Above I have described about how to pin posts, After adding items to your windows 8 start menu now time to give proper name to your items/apps.

After typing above command you will get a dialog box withing 5 seconds, saying "The machine is permanently activated".

#7. Change number of rows in Windows 8 Start menu

After 20 years later Microsoft Windows changed Start menu interface, and placed a new Metro UI. Let's see how to change rows of tiles in start menu.

In normal Windows 8 Pc's you can have upto 4-5 rows in your Metro UI. In this following tutorial i'm changing 5 rows to 3.

Open Registry Editor ( Press Win+R button, then type regedit command)
Now, Navigate to following Location/Path.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Immersiveshell\Grid

After opening Grid Window.

Create Layout_MaximumRowCount Value File or key.
Click on Edit > DWORD (32-bit) Value. A DWORD value file will be create on right side of the Registery Editor.
Rename it to Layout_MaximumRowCount.
Now double Click on Layout_MaximumRowCount. Change the Value data to 3 (If you give 3 it will change your Metro UI row to 3) and select Decimal then click OK.

After following above steps, Restart your Pc or Sign out.

#8. Disable Metro UI Permanently

Some of the Windows 8 users don't like the new Windows 8 Metro User Interface. So here is a trick to disable Metro UI from your Computer.

Classic starter is a application, which will disable Windows 8 Metro UI for permanently. Classic starter is very easy to use.

Classic Starter allows you to disable Metro UI.
After installing application, Click on Logon to Classic Desktop.
You can enable Metro UI anytime by removing Classic Starter.

#9. How to Delete Windows.old folder

If you're upgraded Windows Xp or Windows 7 to Windows 8, You can see your old program files data in your Windows disk drive named Windows.old contains Gb's of data in this folder.

How to Delete Windows.old folder?

Right click on the drive and select Properties, where windows 8 is installed (i.e C: Drive)
Then, Click on Disk Cleanup. (It will take few seconds to load )
In Disk Cleanup Window, Click on Clean up system files (As shown in the below picture)

After Completing above steps, Another Disk Cleanup window will appear .
In this windows, Tick on Previous Windows installation(s) file (check below picture for more).

Now Click on OK button. That's it You're DONE

There are several methods of increasing the speed of your connections.

1. Upgrading Internet service will do a lot to speed up your connections.
2. Upgrade your Internet Device/adapter.
3. Upgrade your network adapter or router.

4. You could also enhance the speed of your connections by upgrading the firmware of network adapter. It will solve most of the Internet speed issues and it’s absolutely free of cost.
5. To speed up your Internet connections you need virus-free computer. Viruses and malware could slow down your PC performance.
6. Optimize your computer and operating system.
7. Run Disk cleanup or other tools regularly.

Right click on My Computer and then go to the "Properties" option.

Nokia's research and development team have kicked it up a gear with an attractive "aeon" concept phone showing up in the R&D section of the company's website. The most prominent design feature of aeon is a touchscreen that stretches over the full surface area of the phone, similar to BenQ-Siemens's Black box concept phone we saw recently. Currently mobile technology isn't quite up to realizing this fantasy, but we'll sleep better tonight knowing that at least one of the cellphone industry's biggest names shares the same dream as we do -- BenQ's dream didn't count, unfortunately.

1. Google Glass

Augmented Reality has already gotten into our life in the forms of simulated experiment and education app, but Google is taking it several steps higher with Google Glass. Theoretically, with Google Glass, you are able to view social media feeds, text, Google Maps, as well as navigate with GPS and take photos. You will also get the latest updates while you are on the ground.

It’s truly what we called vision, and it’s absolutely possible given the fact that the Google’s co-founder, Sergey Brin has demo’ed the glass with skydivers and creatives. There are premium products in the market that can do the same, but Rift wants you to enjoy the experience at only $300, and the package even comes as a development kit. This is the beginning of the revolution for next-generation gaming.

The timing is perfect as the world is currently bombarded with the virtual reality topic that could also be attributed to Sword Art Online, the anime series featuring the characters playing games in an entirely virtual world. Multi-touch desktop is a (miserably) failed product due to the fact that hands could get very tired with prolonged use, but Leap Motion wants to challenge this dark area again with a more advanced idea. It lets you control the desktop with fingers, but without touching the screen.

5. Eye Tribe

Eye tracking has been actively discussed by technology enthusiasts throughout these years, but it’s really challenging to implement. But Eye Tribe actually did this. They successfully created the technology to allow you to control your tablet, play flight simulator, and even slice fruits in Fruit Ninja only with your eye movements.

It’s basically taking the common eye-tracking technology and combining it with a front-facing camera plus some serious computer-vision algorithm, and voila, fruit slicing done with the eyes! A live demo was done in LeWeb this year and we may actually be able to see it in in action in mobile devices in 2013.

Currently the company is still seeking partnership to bring this sci-fi tech into the consumer market but you and I know that this product is simply too awesome to fail.

The current problem that most devices have is that they function as a standalone being, and it require effort for tech competitors to actually partner with each other and build products that can truly connect with each other. 7. Firefox OS

iOS and Android are great, but they each have their own rules and policies that certainly inhibit the creative efforts of developers. Mozilla has since decided to build a new mobile operating system from scratch, one that will focus on true openness, freedom and user choice. It’s Firefox OS.

Firefox OS is built on Gonk, Gecko and Gaia software layers – for the rest of us, it means it is built on open source, and it carries web technologies such as HTML5and CSS3.

Developers can create and debut web apps without the blockade of requirements set by app stores, and users could even customize the OS based on their needs. Currently the OS has made its debut on Android-compatible phones, and the impression so far, is great.

You can use the OS to do essential tasks you do on iOS or Android: calling friends, browsing web, taking photos, playing games, they are all possible on Firefox OS, set to rock the smartphone market.

It’s not recommended for the non-programmer and non-Linux user, but the kit is loaded with development software to create your personal projects.

I never thought the future of computing could be kick-started with just $99, which is made possible using crowdfunding platforms.

10. Google Driverless Car

I could still remember the day I watch the iRobot as a teen, and being skeptical about my brother’s statement that one day, the driverless car will become reality. And it’s now a reality, made possible by… a search engine company, Google.

While the data source is still a secret recipe, the Google driverless car is powered by artificial intelligence that utilizes the input from the video cameras inside the car, a sensor on the vehicle’s top, and some radar and position sensors attached to different positions of the car. Sounds like a lot of effort to mimic the human intelligence in a car, but so far the system has successfully driven 1609 kilometres without human commands!
