April was a great month for my Ministry with God moving mightily. It started out at Gardendale High School with an event geared toward the area school’s male and female athletes. The service went well with many students coming forward at the end making decisions for Christ, rededicating their faith in Him, and praying for one another.

The next day was the Katie Burkette Memorial Golf Tournament, the daughter of my friend and former Alabama player Mike Burette, who was killed tragically in a car accident. The tournament is to raise money for a scholarship given to students in her memory. Many former players participated, and it was an exciting time to reconnect with friends.

Resurrection Sunday was incredible. I was at Life Church in Cullman, AL for two morning services. The anointing of God was evident in both services. Pastor Brad and his staff are capturing God’s Spirit in their church. They are raising the congregation up under sound doctrine, and that is leading to rapid growth.

I was in Alexander City on the 12th with the Boys and Girls Club of the Lake Martin Area Stand Up for Kids Dinner. The event took place at First Baptist Church in Alexander City where the attendance was high, but the anointing of God was even higher. Many received a blessing, and it was an honor to be a part of such an incredible organization.

Friday I was in Birmingham, AL for the FBLA Conference, and it was absolutely amazing. The morning event was for High School students, with over 1,500 in attendance from all over the state of Alabama. That evening was a smaller group of College students and my good friend and confidant, Tommy Jackson, delivered an extremely strong and inspiring speech to those in attendance. Tommy, who is a highly successful Financial Consultant and Entrepreneur, spoke directly to the hearts of aspiring future business leaders.

The following week on Wednesday and Thursday I participated in the annual RISE Golf Tournament hosted by my Former Coach and dear friend Gene Stallings. This annual tournament raises money for The University of Alabama RISE School, an on-campus school founded by former Alabama coach Gene Stallings that caters to the needs of developmentally disabled children and their normally developing peers.

Thursday night I headed to Talladega, AL to speak for the Annual Leadership Sports Banquet at Talladega College. This is a beautiful campus with an amazing history. Two former slaves, who wanted better opportunities for their children, had the vision to start this school. I encourage everyone to take the time to read the story of how Talladega College came into existence. This event was so well put together, and the anointing of God was so strong the entire night. It was truly a pleasure to be part of this special event.

Along with Pastor Chris Hodges and Pastor Kenny Luck, I spoke to over 1,000 men at Church of the Highlands in Birmingham, AL for the Catalyst Men’s Conference on the 21st. The Word God gave to me for that night was so strong, and it moved the hearts of the men in attendance. It was great to see such a strong number of men come together with a desire to develop a more intimate relationship with God.

On Sunday night the 22nd I traveled to the small town of Verbena, AL for “Verbena Springfest” at First Baptist Church. I cannot express how much I truly enjoyed my time with the community of Verbena. The move of God was just so powerful this night as many came to the altar for prayer. I am so thankful for the leaders who have a desire to host events such as this and reach the entire community for Jesus.

The following week I traveled down to Fairhope, AL. I was able to play some golf with my good friends Robert Seaborn and Bill Morrison to start the day. That evening I spoke at Bayside Academy for “Collision”, an event put on by the Community of Concern to bring awareness to the dangers of drinking and driving. This is something that has affected my life in such a personal way, and I am thankful for organizations, such as the Community of Concern, that are working tirelessly to bring awareness to this issue.

On my way out of Fairhope, AL I stopped by to share a Word with the Outback Men’s Group for their Thursday morning Bible Study. I truly enjoyed my time with this great group of men who have a heart for God. I appreciate Bill Morrison and family for so graciously hosting me during my time there.

I closed the month out in Tuskegee, AL for a Men’s Event at Williams Chapel United Methodist Church and Tabernacle. This was in a place called the Little Texas Community, and it was such a beautiful location. After opening with some praise and worship, I was able to speak to this group of men that ranged from young boys to elders. This was a great end to a month filled with the Mighty move of God. I am thankful for the way God continues to bless my Ministry in 2012.

In closing, I will be hosting the Inaugural Fundraiser Dinner for The ElliemaeShelly Foundation at Wynlakes Golf and Country Club in Montgomery, AL on May 29th. This will be a great event with Legendary Alabama Coach Gene Stallings acting as keynote speaker, John Ed Mathison will be the Emcee, and several former Alabama and Auburn greats including my teammate Kevin Turner and Ron Stallworth of Auburn. Tickets are available for $150.00 each, or tables of 8 can be sponsored for $1,500.00. We also have several Gold Sponsor tables including a table for 7 to sit with Coach Gene Stallings for $5,000, plus a table with myself, Kevin Turner, Mark McMillian or Ron Stallworth for $2,500 each. Visit the tab at the top of my page titled “fundraiser dinner” for a link to purchase tickets or to make a donation. My foundation is a 501c3 non-profit organization, so ticket purchases and donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. Please do not miss this opportunity, not only to have an enjoyable night with several former Alabama and Auburn greats, but more importantly to sow into my Ministry as we reach out to communities around the country starting with the City of Montgomery. I look forward to seeing everyone there.

It was an honor to begin March by participating in my dear friend Brenda Ladun’s 8th Annual 5k Conquer Cancer Run. I truly enjoyed being able to encourage and pray with all the people who are battling cancer, survivors, family and friends. To the Glory of God, Brenda is a cancer survivor herself. I also have a dear friend and old teammate Clyde Goode, who is battling Leukemia. Please keep him lifted in prayer.

I traveled out to Washington, NC on March 7th at the invitation of Lydie Johnson to speak at the Community wide youth prayer breakfast. I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this event with this great group of young people. I was back at Frazer United Methodist Church to speak for Man Up on Wednesday night the 14th. I have had the pleasure of speaking at Frazer several times in the past.

On the 17th, I participated in Dothan’s Annual MS Walk. JoAnne Powers, who battles MS, contacted me and asked me to share a word of encouragement to the participants, as well as walk with them. Shelly and I were the honorary starters of the walk. It was a beautiful day at Westgate Park as so many came together to support one another.

I traveled down to Baldwin County for several days of ministering in different venues put together by Acie Campbell. It started off on the 21st with the Coca Cola Stewardship Dinner on the Ground II. In preparing for this event, research about the Coca-Cola Company showed a successful company who cares for their employees and works to give back to the community.

I spent Thursday and Friday mornings going to several area schools joined by my dear friend and woman of God, Shara Atkinson. God opened doors to share with students about lining their actions up to where they are going and how the choices they make today can affect their futures.

Friday night I spoke to the men of Loxley Church of God for the Resolution Men’s Ministry. This was a terrific group and God truly moved on the hearts of the men that night.

My time in Baldwin County ended on Sunday morning speaking to Pastor Herman Knapp’s congregation at Loxley Church of God again. This was an enjoyable end to a week that God truly blessed.

The month ended at Fairfield High School in Fairfield, AL where Meca Jackson’s staff and students worked hard to make me feel welcome. My close confidant, Tommy Jackson, was there with me as well to share with the students. This was a terrific group of young people who truly listened to what God had deposited into me to share with them.

On the 2nd of February, I was honored to speak at The Alabama Grief Support Group Fundraiser dinner at Vestavia Hills Country Club in Birmingham. This is a wonderful group of individuals who volunteer their time and efforts to offer support to those who have suffered the loss of loved ones with a focus upon spouses. I am thankful that God has raised up Dick Coffee and other leaders of AGSG to support us individuals who are hurting in the death of a significant other.

The next day I traveled to Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the invitation of Pastor Collin Wimberly of Parkview Baptist Church. I was able to share at their Chapel service with students and some staff at Parkview Baptist Academy, which is connected to the Church. God moved Mightily in the hearts of young men and women that morning and many came forward making renewed vows to Christ and getting serious about their faith.

February 5th, Superbowl Sunday was a special Sunday indeed. I preached two services that morning at PBC and spoke with about 300 men afterwards at a luncheon. The anointing was strong throughout the services, and God clearly changed lives that day. A special thank you to Pastor Colin, his deacon board, staff, and family for a generous welcome and stay. On the 4th Pastor Colin, his son Samuel, and I went to lunch afterwards and reflected on the message that morning. I spoke with Samuel about his future plans as I sat and listened to a Godly, well-matured young man. The leadership qualities within him were evident as he was being recruited by a number of Division I schools. Athletically he was a well built young man and it was clear that he would play at the next level. Unexpectedly and unfortunately out of nowhere on February 25th, Samuel was called Home to be with The Lord. Please keep the Wimberly family in prayer during this difficult season of mourning.

On the evening of the 5th, I traveled to Starkville, MS to minister during the halftime of the Superbowl. This was an FCA event hosted at FBC Downtown Starkville. Jim Yates is the director for this region and the night was filled with God’s presence. The event had a great turnout and God changed young teenagers’ lives. The entire Starkville High School Football team was in attendance. They had tragically suffered the loss of one of their star players a few months prior. There was praising and worshiping God among all in attendance.

On the 9th I was asked to speak in Atmore, AL for the 66th Annual Area Chamber of Commerce Dinner. This was a special night for The Atmore Community. Community leaders were in attendance and it was encouraging to see so many different churches, pastors, judges, civic leaders, and The Cherokee Council all come together to make Atmore a better place to live, build businesses, and raise a family. God blessed us that night and many came up afterwards saying those exact words.

On the 18th I was honored to participate in the Big Brothers Big Sisters 5k Race in Tuscaloosa, AL. My close friends Blaise and Patrice Adams had invited me to participate in this race held in honor of their son Marshall Blaise Adams, whom they tragically lost last year. It was great to see so many turn out to not only support a great organization in Big Brothers Big Sisters, but to honor the memory of a wonderful son to Blaise and Patrice, and a special friend to so many more. It was clear to witness the impact Marshall Adams’s life had upon the many in attendance.

On the 25th I was asked to be a part of The Youth for Christ Rally in Anniston, AL by Jerry Glover. The event started with a parade from Zinn park with a march to Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. I was asked to be Grand Marshall of the parade and got to ride on top of an Army Tank for the first time:) It was an all day event and I ended up speaking around 1:30. The Holy Spirit was moving throughout the service and God was glorified Mightily that day. I am thankful to Jerry Glover for his hospitality and to the Friendship Missionary Baptist Pastor and staff for the opportunity.

The month ended with me speaking at a business luncheon at the invite of Matt Pitt, founder of The Basement in Birmingham, AL. The event turned out great and people in attendance were blessed by God’s presence. That Tuesday night I attended The Basement Love Revolution for the first time and was truly blessed by that Ministry. Matt Pitt and his team are clearly revolutionizing teenagers all over the world for Jesus Christ.

It has been a few months since I last updated everyone on what is going on in my Ministry. God really blessed 2011 and sent me to many places where I had the honor of meeting many wonderful people. I was blessed to share God’s Word with many church congregations, men’s events, corporate meetings, youth and school events. I would like to thank each place that hosted me with such kindness and love.

Right off the bat 2012 started off with greatness. I had the pleasure of celebrating the 14th National Championship for the Crimson Tide down in New Orleans! Many former players came together for the Bama Bash on Sunday. It was a huge success and it was great to get to fellowship with so many of my former teammates and my Coach Gene Stallings. I was honored to meet so many of our fans and see the excitement and passion they had for the Bama Family. Roll Tide!

We are a month and a half into 2012 and things have started out really well. On January 15th, at the invitation of Associate Pastor Rodney Mitchell, I visited Auburn Heights Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL. It was such an honor to share with Sr. Pastor Dr. Wayne Scarborough’s congregation on Sunday Morning. What a great group of people God has in Phenix City, AL.

I was asked to visit Hayden Middle School and Hayden High School in Hayden, AL by Amy Hallmark. I was really impressed with her heart for the students. Both the High School and Middle School assemblies were great and God really moved. These two groups of young people were simply some of the best I have been around in quite some time. I have received many emails from students, teachers, and parents stating how blessed they were and how God really moved among them during the presentation. I was honored and humbled to learn the Art Department painted a wall size mural in the hallway of the school, inspired by one of my favorite poems that I used in my message by Robert Frost titled “The Road Not Taken.” I was blessed to witness God’s Mighty Power in both schools.

The month ended on January 22nd at the invitation of Rev. Paul Ferrell, the Children and Youth Minister at Harford United Methodist Church. I shared with the youth at the Super Sunday Dothan District Rally in Dothan, AL, a yearly event put together by the area United Methodist Churches. It was a joy to witness the passion for Christ in this amazing group of young people.

In closing, God has really blessed my Ministry. There are many significant events coming up for my Ministry that you will hear about very soon. God has really impressed upon me strongly the word ARISE for 2012. I believe He is calling forth all His Saints more than ever to take our faith and our core beliefs to a higher level. Not a day should pass without us exalting the name of Jesus and witnessing to someone until the whole world hears that Jesus Christ is Lord to the Glory of God!

After returning from Cruise with a Cause I took a sabbatical for a good part of June to get some much needed rest as I prepare for the end of the year. I spent valuable time with God, in the Word and with family and friends. I am now ready to devote the rest of 2011 to continue the Kingdom work that God has blessed me with.

In my previous update I posted my participation in the 12th Annual Wet Dog Triathlon on July 16th, in Decatur, AL with the support of my good friends, Derrick and Jill Oden. Be sure to check that out as I have posted a couple of videos that Derrick filmed for me.

On July 17th, I headed to Oxford, AL to Meadowbrook Baptist Church, with Senior Pastor Gary Rivers. I had the privilege to speak at Meadowbrook back in 2008 when my Ministry first started. I preached three services and the Spirit of the Lord moved mightily. The people at Meadowbrook were very welcoming and I look forward to returning again in the future.

Later that week on July 23rd I headed to the beautiful Guntersville State Park in Guntersville, AL to be the keynote speaker for the Alabama Independent Automobile Dealers Association. I was invited to speak to the association by their Executive Director, Tony Wilkerson. It was an honor to be invited to be the speaker for their Annual State Convention. I had the privilege of meeting many good men and women who are working in the Automobile and Vendor Industry that has been so critically affected by our country’s economic downturn. I pray that they can take what God laid on my heart to share with them and find ways to apply it to the success of their business.

To wrap up July I preached at Christ City Church in Birmingham, AL on the 31st. Pastor David Nasser who is the lead pastor of this new plant church invited me to join them. Pastor David and I had initially partnered on a Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic back in the fall of 2010. This church really has a heart for missions to reach the City of Birmingham and abroad for Jesus.

I will be speaking on Friday, August 12th for Worship on the Mountain (Sand Mountain) for their Youth Explosion in Albertville, AL at the Albertville Fine Arts Center, 402 E. McCord Ave., Albertville, AL 35950. I truly feel that God is going to move in a mighty way at this event and if you are in the area I encourage you to attend.

I want to close by thanking the many partners of elliemaeshelly, as well as all the people who have prayed for me and my family. Be sure to check out my fall schedule and if I am going to be in a city near you I would love for you to come out.

Blessings to Everyone and all to the Glory of God,

I participated in the 12th Annual Wet Dog Triathlon in Decatur, AL on July 16th. First of all, thank you Jesus for allowing me to have the health and ability to be able to participate and complete this event. This annual event is sponsored by The Decatur Jaycees and Big Brothers Big Sisters, it is held at the beautiful Point Mallard Water Park. The event was incredible and the men and women who organized this were outstanding. This was my third Triathlon and I completed this in honor and memory of my family whom I lost on 11-19-07. There were so many mixed emotions as I completed the swim, bike ride and run. God truly sustained me and allowed me to complete this race in one hour and twenty two minutes.

While in Decatur I had the pleasure of staying with my former teammate and dear friend Derrick Oden and his lovely wife Jill. Derrick filmed the event and they put together the two videos that I am going to share with you here. I truly appreciate all the support that Derrick and Jill gave to me that day by being there to cheer me on. It truly made such a difference having them by my side and I could not have completed this task without them.

We ported in Miami from “Cruise with a Cause” on Saturday, June 4th, which was my youngest Ellie Ann-Marie’s birthday. Shelly and I immediately boarded a plane and was headed to Nashville. Sunday, June 5th, I had the opportunity to speak to all the guests attending the Volunteers of American Charity Golf Tournament with a dear friend Randy Brothers. Then, on Monday, June 6th, we had a great time participating in the golf tournament. This event was a blessing and it was great to get to spend some time with so many great friends.

On Sunday, June 12th , I spoke at First Missionary Baptist Church in Ozark, AL with Pastor Sham Jackson. It was a great service and I was honored to have some of my family there as well. Then on Monday, June 13th, I spoke at the revival at my home church Dothan Community Church with Pastor Charles Lewis. It was a powerful service and a blessing to be able to speak to my home church. On Thursday, June 16th, I headed back to Nashville to speak for a business leader breakfast for the Accelerant Organization. I was honored to meet so many great men and women from the area. God blessed me with a great weekend in Nashville with some great friends. I took part in a softball game and had many other fun times with my dear friend and former teammate Brian Burgdorf and his lovely wife Molly.

May and June were busy months but God truly blessed me and allowed me to travel to some amazing places and meet some wonderful people. God is so Good!

God had laid on my heart to take my entire family on a mission trip. I was able to connect with Dr. Matthew Dunnaway of Tuscaloosa, who heads up “Cruise with a Cause” to get this rolling. On May 28th, my family and I loaded a 15 passenger van and drove down to Miami for the cruise. We boarded the ship on Monday, May 30th, and was on our way to Montego Bay, Jamaica.

This cruise was so powerful and the spirit on this boat was just amazing. The first night, we kicked things off by hearing Pastor John Hagee speak and his son Matthew Hagee sing. It was a powerful start to a powerful week. There was such an amazing lineup of speakers and artists, ranging from Bishop Paul Morton to Casting Crowns. I was even honored to be a speaker on this cruise.

We ported in Montego Bay early Wednesday morning. I headed out with the men in my group and about 30 other men and women to Kingston, the Capital of Jamaica and also one of the most dangerous areas. We were going to speak with the men and women in the prisons, who are some of the most hardened criminals in Jamaica. After we arrived we faced some difficulty, but were finally able to get in. What we saw will forever change us. The conditions in these prisons are unimaginable. This is nothing like prisons here in America, where you have rec rooms, free time, three meals a day, and all supplies you need. While we were there, they were served a small bowl of something that we couldn’t even recognize. They are not even supplied with items for their basic needs. They have to buy them from the store, but most of them have no family who visits or sends money. Some of them said they just wish they could buy a toothbrush and toothpaste. It really makes you realize what we take for granted. I was able to speak to these men for a minute and then we split off and shared the gospel with them. There were several who gave their lives to Jesus and it was truly a blessing. We brought Bibles with us and they were begging for them. What a shame that here in America we have Bibles so freely lying around, but so many of us do not even take the time to read and study them.

Wednesday night we had Jamaica Fest on the beach, where many of the speakers and artists performed for the people in Jamaica. We had thousands of school supplies that everyone had brought and we handed them out to the parents and kids. This event was very powerful. There were over 60,000 people there! It was unreal and the power of God fell on that beach, changing so many lives that night.

On Thursday, we loaded a bus to visit the schools. My group was supposed to be going to an all girls high school, but after sitting outside the gate for about 45 minutes we were unable to get into the school. God had really spoke to me about how much we were needed in that school, but Satan was at work as well. So we decided to join the rest of our bus at Chetwood Memorial Primary School. As soon as we stepped off that bus, God just truly blessed. Those children had our hearts instantly. We split into separate classrooms and were able to share the gospel with these children. There were over 200 decisions that day! Before we left, we gathered into one classroom and those precious children started singing praises to Jesus with such passion. They were jumping up and down, waving their hands in the air, smiling, and singing at the tops of their lungs. They were just so happy to be praising Jesus. They were packed into a small dark classroom, they had no air, and it was so hot. They didn’t have the supplies that we have here. They played basketball with a bag filled with sand in a broken hoop, but they never once complained. They were so happy just to be there. I learned so much from those precious children and they stole my heart. We returned to the boat to board and depart back to Miami.

It was bittersweet leaving Jamaica, but we will be back. We continued to be blessed by more amazing speakers and artists as we headed back to Miami. On Friday, we had our celebration service and found out there were 22,000 people saved during our time in Jamaica! PRAISE BE TO GOD! 22,000 people who gave their lives to Jesus. This Cruise was such an amazing experience and Dr. Matthew and all the people behind the scenes did an amazing job organizing this event. They are planning another one in 2013 and I highly encourage you to take part in this. You can find out more information by searching Cruise with a Cause on facebook and liking their page.
