Q. How do you describe your style?
A. Eclectic, I think?

Q. Have you done collaboration with artist before? If not, who do you like to work with?
A. On certain jobs I have worked closely with a designer, which has been a really refreshing change from the norm and the isolation of working on ones own.

The idea of working closely with another creative does appeal ,but it isn’t something i have tried to pursue, but if i had to pick one person it would be Milton Glaser ,he has been a great influence and I admire him hugely.

Q. Do you have any formal training in art and design?
A. Yes, I Studied Illustration and Graphic Design at Camberwell college, London , then did a 2 year part time post grad course in Illustration at Central St Martins,London

Q. So far, what are some of your most notable achievements?
A. Awards-Winning the V&A illustration award in 2007, American Illustration Selected Winner.
Commissions- Dr Stuart’s Tea boxes- Designs for the Glastonbury Festival were both very enjoyable jobs

Q. What are your other interest beside art and doing illustrations?
A. I have a passion for old motorcycles from the 50’s and 60’s , I brought, sold and restored quite a few old relics in the last 16 years or so and own a couple now ,one with a sidecar which is hilarious fun ,but quite lethal.

My other interest is climbing which i got into about 12 years ago, i do this mainly to get myself off this seat and away from my desk , its really good fun ,it takes you to some great places and you meet some lovely people.

Q. Who or what are your inspirations?
A. I use other peoples illustrations as a bench mark as something to aspire to, their is so much good work out their ,you’re permanently reminded to up your game, and not slack off, i was judging the students award at the V&A recently and thought ,’blimey if this is the work they are producing now, I’ve really got to keep my eye on the ball’ which is great ,that’s how it should be, we live in an incredible time, culturally and creatively, with everything at our fingertips ,it makes for one big melting pot, some brilliant work and some absolutely terrible. I’m surprised at how many people are saying lets get back to basics, abandon the computer and draw, i don’t understand this, my only conclusion is they don’t actually work within commercial arts, all mediums should be celebrated equally .

Q. Have you ever been in a situation where you abandone your style and philosophy for the sake of money?
A. I have’nt been in the situation where the money has been so huge and the job so unsuitable that i have had that dilemma, i have turned down relatively large jobs as i didn’t like the ideas they had,and they weren’t going to listen to alternatives. I hope I wouldn’t work for a company i didn’t agree with their philosophy what ever the money ,I’d be really be disappointed with myself if i did.

Q. What are your future plan?
A. To improve i hope. I’d also love to see my work properly animated, In the past I’d done some fabric designs for a clothing company, i’d like to some more alternative jobs like this.

Holga TLR.

I guess by now everyone should already know what SLR means, but TLR? Instead of single lense this type of camera has two lenses. Now, the uber-cool guys at Holga have produced another masterpiece when they combine the cult Holga 120 camera with an extra lense, thus a TLR is born! A must but for any lo-fi camera freaks!

Demekin.

The cutest, smallest (film) fisheye camera around. It can’t get anymore cuter then this.

This camera makes TLR fashionable again. An be used with 120mm or 35 mm films.

Yup, it’s cute alright!

Q. Can you kindly introduce yourselves and what boongashoes is all about?
A. We are actually from Boonga Studio and Boonga Art Shoes is one of our unique products where we help people express their creativity via shoes!

Q. So far, how many designs have you guys come out with?
A. Too many to mention. Although we have all the designs displayed in our blog, but we have lotsa other designs that we cant publish due to some reasons of copyright from the customers themselves. We also have lotsa new designs coming up soon!

Q. Where can we buy those cool kicks, apart from your blog?
A. Through agents, or make in-person order with us! We are gonna have our studio soon!

Q. Where do you guys get your inspirations and who are your favorite designers?
A. No limit for source or inspirations! They come from everywhere! As far as the eyes can see, and as deep as the brain can think! Favourite designers? Well, no one in particular. But we think the locals are doing great with their designs!

Q. Does you guys like to collect shoes/sneakers yourselves?
A. Of course we do! Even before we started doing this, we have lotsa pairs in our room already! We love shoes so much, but there were not much designs out there! Thats y we started this Boonga Art Shoes!

Q. What are the most difficult design/project that you done so far?
A. Without doubt, when we received orders to do portrait on shoes! Now, we dont wanna do portraits anymore! Its way too hard for us! LOL!

Q. Apart from shoes, do you guys design or produce t-shirt, accessories, etc?
A. We do personalize other things like Tshirt! Its so kewl! When a customer order a T from us, they dont have to worry about bumping into another guy with the same T! LOL! We also do personalized laptop skin, cap, pants, bags, etc. Our latest project is…we pimp old 2nd hand item like refrigerator, TV, stereo,rice cooker! You can just go buy all those 2nd hand stuff and we’ll make it look like a new one!

Q. Do you guys have any plans to expand Boongashoes operation, maybe open your own shop or sells it at major clothing stores?
A. Of course we do! For now, we already have our own studio stationed in Subang. But, having a shop is not gonna be just a dream! we’ll make sure that our shop will be opened soon! no worries about it! bout d last question, we have already been selling our shoes in stores. we provide the shoes to all the stores all over Malaysia. They buy from us in bulk order.

Q. What are your future plans?
A. Its very interesting to say that we wanna have our own factory, we reckon. haha. but we’ll start by having our own cute shop 1st! right now, we are working on our own website! the url will be www.boongastudio.com , but we havent launched it yet~ anyway, we hope to see more creative people joining us and be our supporting artists! anyone? :)
