This is our final project :'( ... i think.
Well what we have to do here is simply create a layout of your work for a book, that's right a real book!

We have to use InDesign for the layouts and follow a simple rule, all work must be in order and in portrait format. What i did here was create 2 quick pages for the book project which will then be printed in an actual book to see how it turns out. This is just simply an experimentation so we can see if we make any mistakes so then we can counter these mistakes for our final book.

INITIAL IDEA

FINAL IDEA...FOR NOW

So for this project i had to create a musical instrument out of any available materials.

So i basically decided to create an instrument that would help me to ring a bell...

in other words a created a more sophisticated way to ring a bell...

I have yet to assemble my instrument, when i do i will document the process and add the final outcome to the blog. We also have to play this instrument LIVE with other people from the class who have also created their own instrument.

Blazing Biographies

John Major

So i got stuck with John Major, who was the former prime minister of Great Britain & Northern Ireland and leader of the conservative party from the year 1990-1997, he retired in 2001. In 1997 the conservativne party lost to the labour party and Tony Blair took his place as prime minister.
During the Gulf War he convinced George W. Bush to support no fly-zones.

WEAK WEAK WEAK!!! these words really caught my attention and are pushing me to create some sort of final piece relating to these words...

Idea1

This is the Obama poster created by contemporary graphic designer Shepard Fairey.

This is one of my initial ideas but im not 100% sure ill use this one as the final idea. However i am working on some other ideas and experimenting with different approaches. If i do use this one i am planning to print it in really large scale... not sure why but id think it will look better if it was large rather than a small A3 print.

Idea 2

This is another initial idea which i started not too long ago. I have never tried "painting"on Photoshop so i thought id give it a go, though im quite pleased with the result i decided to pause this idea and experiment with a new one that recently came to mind. The reason being simply because the new idea is fresh in mind so i want to start getting some sketches down on paper and leave this idea for later.

This is basically a drawing of a soldier from the Gulf War and a drawing of John Major as you might have already guessed.

Idea 3

My 3rd idea is inspired from the video i posted above, about John Major and Tony Blair arguing...
I was thinking of doing like a street fighter IV style showdown and have John Major and Tony blair about to fight eachother. Since it's going to be Street Fighter IV style they're are both going to look quite muscular.

This was my 3rd idea but i was advised to drop it.

My 4th idea is to create a kinetic typography video about

This is going to be my first time creating a Kinetic Typography video so i don't know if it will turn out any good, but its worth a try.

Too Sweet

This was a fun and creative project that was assigned to us during the Christmas holidays. What we had to do here was simply create a wrapper for a new sweet that we had to invent. I came up with the idea "Tear Drops" and my sweet would include natural flavored juices within a tear shaped chewy sweet. The colour of the juices would depend on the colour of the sweet, for example if it were a green sweet the juice would be purple or if the sweet was red the juice would be light blue, the idea behind it was to have the colour of the juice to contrast with the colour of sweet. The white box you see in the middle of the design would be see-through to allow the customer to see what sweet they are buying and how many sweets there are in the packet.

I enjoyed this project and i'm sure id enjoy this sweet just as much too! :D

One of the most easiest projects I've ever been assigned. What I had to do here was simply take 1,000 pictures of my TV screen. Obviously using different effects like long exposures, different aperture settings etc.

It was a fun yet boring project however i did like the outcome. I might change it when i have to print it out in A2

Very embarrassing project, well at least for me, but it was extremely fun to do and yet again i met new people, so i guess that's always a plus. Here we were put into groups of 6 which consisted of 3 boys and 3 girls, we then went to watch a film called "Midnight in Paris". The aim of this project was to create a 1 minute trailer of the film, but since our group had only 1 girl we had to... well lets just say we had to improvise... and ummm that's it really.

This project really challenged my creativity, however without a doubt it was still a fun and exciting project. What i had to do was create four skateboard designs each being from a different decade which means a different shape. I had to create four different themes (Purely Decorative, Pro Model, Typography and Conceptually Lead) for four different shapes, however the themes had no specific order, for example, the Purely Decorative theme could have been designed on any skateboard deck from any decade and same goes for the other themes. Creating a skateboard deck was much harder than i thought as you have to take measurements into account and the work space was limited.

This is the best project i done so far. It required creativity but it was also very simple to produce. We had to create...THE PERFECT CRIME! What i came up with was someone getting stabbed in an area that lacks the use of CCTV cameras. So i went around looking for this area, only to find out that it was right around the corner from my house, which was great but disappointing at the same time. I asked my friends to help me with this project, all they had to do was pose for the pictures while i took the shots. We waited until it got quite dark and then i began taking pictures of them, it took quite a while to achieve the shots i was originally looking for, however some shots came out better than the ones i tried to achieve, so i worked with them. Once i had the picture sorted, i added the finishing touches on computer and completed the project.

Another weird yet very enjoyable project and i'm not saying that because we had to bake a cake, because the cake i baked was definitely not enjoyable... Anyways, as i had be had to bake a cake, this had to be in a form of a typeface letter of your choice, I chose the letter B from the Bauhaus 93 font. We then had to go ahead and bake the cake but we also had to show the step by step process of how we carried this task out. I accomplished this by taking photographs every now and then. Once we finished the baking part we had to create a "Cook Book" with instructions on how to bake the cake (please don't try to bake the cake i made...), we had to include the ingredients and the photos of the process. I really enjoyed this project, the cake so much, It was one of the funniest project i did so far.

This was another fun and creative project that was assigned to us. As you could already tell by the title of the post, we had to create our own version of a Top Trump card. For those of you who don't know what Top Trumps is, its a card game which has been around for quite a lot of time now, it's extremely easy to play and can be played with a large number of people. Anyway, I had to create my Top Trump card using a picture of

myself, we had the choice of editing it, so i went ahead and put some creativity in my design. We then had to assign ourselves some statistics and these statistics had to add up to a total of 60. We had to use Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign to create these cards. Then you had the choice of creating the back of the card, however you wasn't obliged to but i decided i'd give it a go. I enjoyed this project and the creative side of it.

This was a very creative project which was fun but at the same time hard to complete. Here we had to create a butterfly wing, however the rules were that we had to choose a specific theme for this butterfly wing, this could have been anything ranging from a butterfly made out of planets to a butterfly made out of sea shells. The theme i chose was Converse, simply because i like Converse. We had to draw one half of the butterfly wing by hand and the other half we had to mirror it on computer and produce a second version on Illustrator.

I enjoyed this project and i like the outcome of the work, however i do believe that more could have been accomplished if i dedicated more time to it.

This was another interesting and competitive project that we had to complete. What we had to do here was create a wrap design for a company called Matches and the winner would have their work published on the website and displayed on the store. They suggested bright and bold colours, so i decided to use the basic, Yellows, Blues, Greens and Reds however as i was creating the wrap designs, i thought that these colours were going to be used by everyone, so i decided to change them around a bit. I also wanted to do a repeated pattern as i thought that one big picture on a wrapper wouldn't look so good. I didn't quite enjoy this project as much as i enjoyed the previous one, however i still learnt a lot from it.

This project was extremely competitive which forced us to work even harder than usual. What we had to do here was place £1 in a pot (there were around 60 students so £60 were collected) and the person with the best design would win everything! We had to re-design a £1 Coin to show the current Global Economy Crisis. I thought of designing the front of the pound coin with a leaf-less tree, trying to represent the quote "money doesn't grow on trees". On the back of the pound coin i decided to place elements that would represent the UK. I found this project rather challenging but fun, it was also a good way to show us how live briefs are to be treated.

This was a rather unexpected project from my point of view. What we had to do here was travel to Trafalgar Square, once we arrived we were put into groups of 3 and were given a brief. On this brief were locations of places around the area and we had to visit each location and complete the job assigned to the location. For example we had to go to Oxford Street and find a Nike store, we then had to enter the store and ask a member of staff if they sold Adidas trainers, they would give us an answer and we had to write it down for later use. We visited several locations, there were 40 in Total, once we finished this task we had to map out these locations on 2 A2 sheets, how we decided to carry this out was entirely up to us. I enjoyed this project as it introduced me to new places in London and i had a chance to introduce myself to new people in the class.

This is a video i made about the typeface "Century Gothic"

This is the first group project that was assigned to us. The aim for this project was to get to know one another, it was a fun and enjoyable project as it consisted of teamwork and co-operation.

For this project we were given a typeface (Century Gothic), we then had to go as a group and

construct research on our assigned typeface. Once we had enough research we then had to write song lyrics about our typeface using the research we made and yes once once we had the lyrics down we had to sing the song to the class. Our group came up with the idea of relating the song to Lady Gaga's "Poker face" as we thought it was original and funny. All in all this was a fun project and listening to the other's sing was a bonus!
