Are you being blocked from any network, and having problem in visiting your favorite sites?

It often happens that visitors are blocked from specific sites from a network. If you are at a school, it is quite likely that you are being blocked from popular sites like facebook, myspace, you tube or other social networking sites. Same restrictions are being applied at many work places, by governments, etc.

To access blocked sites, you can consider using a proxy.

What is a proxy?

If you are not familiar with proxy servers, a proxy server is a server (a computer system or an application program) that acts as an intermediary for requests from clients seeking resources from other servers.

Every computer has a digital id (ip address), and when your ip address is being blocked from accessing certain sites, you can visit those sites through a proxy. You basically visit your required sites through the proxy, using the proxy server's ip address, not yours.

Although it says 'unblock facebook', it actually can unblock any site. You can try it out to access any blocked site. I love this site a lot, as it loads extremely fast, has a clean setup, and DO NOT have any pop ups or annoying ads on the browser pages. All you need to do is enter your required web address in the browser bar and start surfing.

Sometimes, from some networks, specific proxies are blocked too. So when a proxy is blocked, you can use fresh, new proxies. To get fresh, new proxies regularly, keep visiting this site:

Opera Turbo: Speeds up the browser experience for slow connections by dynamically replacing images and graphics with low resolution versions.

Tabs Makeover: Lets you work with tabs more easily. A resizable tab bar in Opera 10 lets you stretch the row of tabs at the top so that mini, "thumbnail" versions of your open pages appear inside. That way, you can choose which tab to switch to based on the appearance of the Web page, not just its name.

Imeem.com: Better than Last.fm (Alternative)

IMEEM is an online community where artists, fans & friends can promote their content, share their tastes, and discover blogs, photos, music and video. You can have an unlimited number of music, video, and photo playlists to view on imeem or embed on other sites (such as a MySpace page, blog site, etc.).

I was a loyal last.fm fan, and after their decision to introduce paid subscription, I had no other alternative but to search for another audio streaming site just as good.

Anyway, I have heard about Imeem before but never actually had the time to check it thoroughly. But after experiencing it, I have to say its not actually as good as Last.fm, but better.

The interface is more attractive. The streaming quality is better. The recommendations are a lot more targeted. And ofcourse, they do not require you to subscribe (you can even play music without signing up for the free account).

Also, the artist and track list are richer. I have come across a lot of subcontinental musicians and their tracks (lots of tracks even from Bangladesh), which was nearly unthinkable at Last.fm.

So go and check Imeem to satisfy all your audio needs.

Last.fm Is No Longer Free

Last.fm is one of the most popular online radio which was completely free to listen to, and ofcourse, is totally legal. But on April 23rd they announced that the site will no longer remain free to listeners.

From now on, users will have to spend $3.00/month to remain subscribed to their radio service. However, new users will be entitled to a trial streaming of upto 30 songs for free, after which they will be required to sign up too. Seems like Last.fm's monetization strategies through ads and sponsors failed miserably.

I am looking for good alternatives to last.fm, and am checking a few .fm services. Will come up soon with some other sites which might be just as good as last.fm, and they ofcourse will be free.

Earn Some Money by Posting on Forums (Starting the "Earn Online Series")

I have been earning online for quite some time, and I am well aware of the number of people eager to learn ways of earning online. I now earn quite handsome, and although I know about a few "high earning strategies", I will keep themselves undisclosed (I plan to start a more professional blog dedicated to online business and blogging, and I will keep the best stuffs saved for that blog.)

As far as I have seen, there is always enough projects ready to be accepted.

GPS tracking tends to be a very popular solution nowadays. Tracking is very helpful when you use the technology to locate your car after it's stolen, to safe guard your home, or other vluable things.

But gradually, the devices are more frequently being used again human beings. People are talking about the practices of GPS tracking devices being used against employees in offices, against children by parents, and even, some are talking about these uses against spouses (don't know to what extent though). And there are a lot of people claiming that the uses of tracking employee activities are quite valid.

These devices ruin the right of individual freedom when used in offices. Ofcourse employees are paid to work well and not to waste their time, but the boss should respect their privacies too. An organization should have certain guidelines and rules for employees to abide, and there are a lot of easy and valid options to track employee performance. Such practices never bring about good results.

But if you are tracking shipments or goods, GPS tracking can be a very great tool to use. Also, parents might find it very useful to track their children too (if they are too young ofcourse). Lives in some areas are very tough, and child kidnapping and terrorisms of other sorts are very common nowadays. Also, parents can stay aware that their kids are not going to the wrong places after your school. It's easy for the kids to get deviated nowadays.

The Primes Misnister has announced general amnesty for the renegade BDR soldiers.

Things has started getting better, but discussions still are going on between BDR delegates and the Government officials.

BDR has promised to surrender tomorrow if everything goes on well.

So far, BDR has reported the approximate death of 10-15 soldiers inside their Head Quarter, most of which are Senior Army officials.

Also, the civilian death toll has risen to 3.

The Prime Minister Shikh Hasina has also asked the soldiers to lay down their weapon and allow the stranded people, including women and children inside the BDR headquarters, to leave the complex immediately.

However, newsmen and other witnesses outside the BDR headquarters said the gunfire was still underway despite the government's announcement of amnesty, as army troops continued to lay the siege around the complex.

"One of the members of the delegation (which met the Premier) announced in microphone on return that they will not lay down their weapons tonight," a witness said from the scene.
The rebellion erupted during a 'Darbar' or meeting between seniors officers and soldiers, where sources said the lower-rank troops got agitated alleging that the top brass had not taken up their grievances relating to pay hike, promotions and to make the paramilitary force an autonomous body with Premier Sheikh Hasina when she visited the headquarters a day earlier.

BDR soldiers revolted today against their senior Army officials at the BDR Headquarter in Pilkhana. A heavy firing is taking place between them and the Army, who was called to quell the resistance.

The rebellion broke out at about 10 am today when a meeting was taking place at the "Darbar Hall".

Many army senior officials has been taken under hostage. So far, BDR acknowledged the death of one official - who they refuse to name; and a few other officers were injured. Rumours has it that the killed one is their chief, Maj. General Shakil Ahmed. The rumour seems to be very credible.

So far, one civilian has died of the casualties. Six others have been severely injured.

The BDR soldiers for quite some time have been asking for an increased payment structure, freedom from Army officers as their seniors officials and recruiting the officials from BDR itself, risk incentives, scope to go into UN projects, etc. These has led to the revolution today.

Bangladesh Army has surrounded the Headquarter from all sides, and are asking the soldiers to drop their weapons and surrender "For thegreater interest of the country".

The Army is clearing the streets and setting up heavy weapons ready, giving rise to the speculation that they would go extreme to tame the crackdown.

This far, heavy firing is being heard and Army helicopters are hovering across the area. Things might get very dirty as the BDR representatives seem to be very desperate. They have already said that they won't be responsible if the military starts firing and thousands of civilians die. The Pilkhana area is a crowded residential area, and a battle will see deaths of many civilians.

The Power Of Social Bookmarking

Social bookmarking can be an awesome tool for linkbuilders and for getting some traffic.

Although most people think that social bookmarking is only effective when your story is awesome and gets a lot of vote (and thus gets featured in the front page and attracts a lot of traffic), it can have a farther reaching effect.

How?

Many of the social bookmarking sites have very high Google authority. So for a certain keyword, even if your site is not good enough to rank on the top page of google, the Digg or other social bookmark page might!

For example, take the keyword pose de puce for example (pose de puce is a french term meaning "pose chip" or "attach chip" and is a keyword for sites related to modchips for wii or PlayStation or xbox).

Google this term, and you will see a digg link on the first page (currently at no. 6). Although the page it links to (http://outsourcing.articlespinning.info/?p=9) is not good enough to come up to the front page, the Digg page does!

So what is in it for you? So whatever your keyword is, and no matter how bad your site is to come up to the front page of the search engine for the targeted keyword, your social bookmarked submission always have a high chance to appear on the front page.

If it is on the front page, you can expect a lot of people to click on the social bookmark link, who will eventually be directed to your site. TRAFFIC!!!

How many submissions do I need? Well if you are a blogger, you should constantly bookmark your posts with a few selected sites, namely the best sites like Digg, StumbleUpon, Mixx, and few others.

But if you are an website owner with not many pages, you should submit each of your page with as many bookmark sites as possible.

I will add a list of about 100 social bookmarking sites a little later for your convenience.

Well, its not any earth shattering news! That is a pretty pirate based site containing all sorts of pirated softwares, movies and music. But i reviewed the site quite a few months back, and people are searching Google like lke crazy with keywords "softarchive.net" and "softarchive.net type sites" and are being redirected to my post: Softarchive.net; One Site Got Everything (Useful softwares, System Tools, Codecs, Games, Mature Contents, etc.)

Good for me at this point. My traffic has risen significantly in the past two days.

Fastest Approving Free Directories That Do Not Require Reciprocal Links

A good strategy of link building for your site is to submit to site directories. But submission to directories can be very annoying in a number of times, mainly because of the following reasons.

1. Not all directories are free.
2. A lot of the free ones require reciprocal links; that is, you have to give the directory a link back from your site first hand before applying for acceptance. (Also, this is kinda useless as reciprocal backlinks are not credited much by search engines).
3. The links take ages to approve. For some directories, it can take as long as a year.

So, as usual, here I present a list of 146 directories which are free to submit to, requires no reciprocal links, and approve very fast. This list is compiled from the Digitalpoint's directory forum by a member (I apologise, I forgot his name). Make Money Online?

Hello readers. Nice to write again after quite a long break. Actually, I was busy on some online projects (other than blogging).

Now, this blog was never a make money blog. I never did direct my readers to a make money site through my referral link (the get paid for using the yahoo search engine was a exception). Although I had many online projects, I never wrote about those sites. Why? Because I myself was not making enough.

As you should have come across many sites claiming to help you to make money, you should know that they are all useless. Reason is quite simple, they themselves are not making enough. How can one help you to make a lot when he himself is not making enough?

But for the past couple of months, several of my projects are doing quite good (after going through a lot of scams on the way). I have earned about $500 in the past month (well, its not a million, I know), and I do believe I can help a lot of you to earn something close to that range.

So from now on, occasionally I will be posting some money making strategies which is suitable for newbies. Why newbies? Because I myself is not an expert yet. Separate strategies will be posted for all kinds of people (lazy, desperate, hard workers, programmers, logo designers, etc).

I also will be posting my earning reports and proofs as they arrive. A separate report will be posted for this blog too (although my blog does not earn a lot).

Windows 7 PreBetas Coming Out in Late October: Official Name Will Be Windows 7 Too!

The prebetas of the next version of Windows, Windows 7 is coming out in late October this year. And know whats weird? The official name is going to be Windows 7 too! This is the first time a Windows will have its codename as the Official name too.

Microsoft has now officially announced that it'll be handing out "pre-beta" builds of the OS at both the Professional Developer Conference (PDC) in late October and the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC) in early November.

You can hope a lot of the OS details and specifications will be announced at PDC, and hopefully a release date will be announced too.

Firefox Mobile alpha (Codename: "Fennec") is launching within weeks! In a recent interview, Mozilla CEO John Lilly confirmed the news.

Although it was previously circulated that a public release will happen no before than 2010, you can expect the new alphas to be released within a month or two. In answer to "What are you doing in mobile?" in a recent interview (San Jose Mercury News interview), John Lilly said:

We want to make sure that the Web on mobile is more like the Web than what the mobile industry offers today, which is closed, separate networks and not a very good information-getting experience for the user. The first thing is to bring Firefox to mobile devices. We’re working on that, and we’ll see some alphas in a few weeks.

However, the mobile version, Fennec, has got to do a lot to get established in this market. This very market is already dominated by Opera, and Mozilla will have to meet a high bar to continue their success with Desktops. But with their tremendous name value and open source coding, you can assume that Firefox will emerge as a market leader in this field too (over 2.5 billion cell phone users world-wide) .

For those who cannot wait for the alpha releases, you can download the MobileFirefox 2.0.0.7, which is actually a mobile version of the Firefox 1.5.0.3.

Missed the Usein Bolt 100m Record Breaking Sprint in Olympics? Or the most amazing shot ever played by Tiger Woods? Michael Johnson's Classic 200m Sprint in Olympics 1996?

To be true, of the five videos featured here, I only witnessed the Usein Bolt sprint. Of the other four, I just kept hearing and reading about praises. I always wanted to see the actual videos of the famous performances, but as you know, the Sports Channels either would not show them, or will show them at a time when I am not in front of the television.

I believe the case is same for a lot of you readers too, but luckily there is a site, SportsVids, where you can get all the famous sports videos in one single place. You will no longer have to search in Google or YouTube, looking for the original online sports videos among thousands of irrelevant others.

Okay, time for some cool videos. Below I feature my favourite five performances of all times. Although one can argue about the performances' "all time favourite" status, but these are just my personal choices.

You won't believe your eyes! An incredible curved shot from quite a distance on the green. Notice the cartoo-like momentary stop of the ball just before it falls into the hole.

Just an event to claim one more gold towards his journey to 8 golds. Just an event? I don't think so. The medley is a combination of four different swimming styles, and one has to be good in all to win it. A taste of Phelp's overall skill is what you will get in the video.

5. Buzzer buster performances: Michael Jordan

Well this video is a little alleviated from the other four sports clips. In this case, it is not one performance, but a compilation of many. Adsense No Longer Supporting Blogspot Blogs?

Google Adsense has got a major change in their policy, stating that Google Sites can not have adsense on them.

Many are saying that this entitles to sites.google.com only, not blogspot blogs. Many others are claimig that blogspot is etitled to this law too. There's quite some dicussion about this going on at the DigitalPoints Forum. Check the discussion here.

But the truth is, blogspot blogs should not be harmed by this decision. Google Sites, and Blogspot Blogs, are completely two different projects by Google. Also, my adsense ads are going on well too, and earning increasing.

But one slight problem to consider! Adding url channel of a blogspot blog from your adsense accout is no longer possible. I tried to add a new url channel, and it shows the below message.
"URL cannot contain a Google host".

Looks like Google is restricting its adsense use by blogspot blogs (and other google sites). This is probably to tackle the excessively large amount of Make Money blogs springing up every day. This will enable them to hinder the abuse and spams through these blogs, which are free to set up and easy to monetize through adsense.

All previously set blogs are doing good, no change being seen regardig discontinued service. Not sure if setting adsense on a completely new blog is allowed. However, i still have the gadget to set adsense on my blogs.

Well, from one perspective, this is for good. Spamming and abusing will decrease, with fewer number of Make Money blogs. But also, this will be unfair to the huge number of blogspot blogs who are doing an excellent job.

So guys, keep an eye on this issue. Its quite probable that Google might withdraw adsense options from new blogspot blogs. I will keep you updated with more news as soon as I get them.

FaceBook has changed its look, and although at first shifting to the new look was optional, now the new look is applied to all accounts by force.

Do not like the new look? Wanting to get back to the old, homely look? Just follow the simple instructions noted below.

Method 1: The GreaseMonkey Trick

This trick only works on Firefox and Opera (not with Internet Explorer), and other browsers compatible with GreaseMonkey applications.

Step1. Download the GreaseMonkey Application from here.

Step2. Install this script.

Now just open your browser, and you should now have your old interface back.

Method 2: Adding Developer Application

Step 1: Add the developer application from here (application developed through facebook)

Step 2: Click the following link to get the old interface back.
http://apps.new.facebook.com/?fbnew_opt_out=1

You should now have it back.

Disclaimer: There has been quite a few hacks, and facebook is constatly catching the hacks and solving the glicks. So be fast or these might not work after some days. Even worse, you might not never get your old interface back. However, you can always switch to the new interface.

Here are some RapidShare Hacks and tricks that will keep you away from worrying about download times and limits.

Rapidshare keeps tracks of its users by their ip addresses. They limit ip addresses to a maximum amount of download per day.

To overcome this, you need to change your ip. Do the following:

1. Using JavaScript code

i. Go to the download page
ii. Click on the "Free" button
iii. type "javascript:alert(c=0)" in the address bar.
iv. Click "OK"
v. Click "OK" on the pop-up window
vi. Enter captcha
vii. Download.

2. Requesting for a new ip address

i. If you are on dynamic ip, just switch off the modem ad then connect again. This should get you a new ip.

ii. Delete the rapidshare cookie i your computer.
For Firefox, go to Tools>Options>Select Privacy>Cookies>View Cookies.
Just delete all the rapidshare cookies there.

iii. To delete cookies, you can do this too.
Go to the start menu and select "Run".

Type cmd.exe.

A command prompt will open, just type the following lines:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
exit

You have to be on a dynamic ip address to make this work. If your ip is fixed, then it wont work.

3. Use a proxy

Using a proxy seems to work fine. Google search the words "proxy sites" and you will come up with a handful of proxy sites. Proxy sites work from a different ip address than yours, all you need to do is copy and paste the download link on the address bar within the proxy site.

4. Use these tools

These tools will help you to manage your downloads, enable simultaneous downloads by using different proxies, change proxies, etc. Some pf these also has download prioritizer, link checker, and can enhance your download speed.

Using YouTube Downloader to Download Videos

A few days back one of my friends wanted an urgent movie to be shared with his colleagues scattered all around the world. They were working on a huge international project and there were some last minute changes. They were working on a huge corporate website and people from different regions of the world were working on the same. While some were undertaking the html coding, some others were busy with the copy writing and yet others were dealing with the graphics etc. While each of them were undertaking a specific segment of the new website, the concept was common to all of them. They had to coordinate with each other. All of a sudden the owner of the website decided that some changes were required and that the size and placement of the graphics had to be changed.

This required that all the text, coding and graphics had to be changed. Instead of writing out all the details through a letter, my friend decided to make a video presentation and host it on YouTube. This way the video could be seen by one and all. For those who do not know, and there are very few, YouTube is a popular online video sharing website. Those who want to share their videos with their friends, relatives or colleagues can do it simply by just uploading the movie on YouTube and share the generated url with them whom they want to share the same with. My friend did just that, but there was a slight hitch. The graphic designer stayed at a remote village and did not have an internet connection at her home.

The best option for her was to download the video file off YouTube and save it on her laptop. She could then check the same at leisure in the confines of her home. The only hitch was that she was not able to save the video from YouTube. The reason for this was that YouTube encodes all movies into the flash (.flv) format and embeds them on their website. This graphic designer did a bit of research on the net and then found the YouTube Downloader developed by Ripzor. According to the publisher’s website, this site permits one to download movies off YouTube in a jiffy. It also allows the user to convert the flash movies that they download from YouTube to a format that is read by all video playing software.

This graphic artist just went to the page that contained the requisite video and noted its url. Next she highlighted the url and copied it. This was then pasted on the `YouTube ripper’ field on Ripzor. Now she clicked on the download button and on the prompt, selected the location where she wanted to save the FLV video. This was all that was required for her to save the movie containing the important video to her laptop. She now has the option of viewing this YouTube clip offline at her home.
