Six Crazy Cookies

Happy Halloween

2013-11-04T08:30:00.002-05:00

Happy Halloween from Six Crazy Cookies!

It rained for Trick-or-Treat but we didn't let it ruin our fun! The kids had an amazing time and still got TONS of treats.

I'm getting pretty good at prosthetic pieces like the vampire bites.

Pumpkin carving.

RAWWRRRR!

She loves these vampire teeth.

I stepped on an open set that was left on the floor. They're not my favorite thing ever.

stuff and things

2013-10-30T11:33:00.003-04:00

The dog hates having his picture taken. I have to trick him into turning his head and then snap a pic real quick. Seriously though, he's not that smart, how does he even know what I'm doing?!?! It happens with both cameras and phones.

Bob and I canned banana peppers! He's got the day off work on Friday and we are going to go to Schramms for produce and can applesauce and whatever else we can get a hold of.

Hickory Farms requires that I not have blue hair so I'm slowly transitioning to "normal" colors.

I hate it passionately.

A return to regular blogging?

2013-10-29T15:57:00.002-04:00

It could happen....

There's been a lot going on here in crazy cookie land.

I got a new job working at Party City.

My job is more fun that your job.

We closed up camp.

(I spent most of the day by the fire because I hate being cold. The high that day was 40 something.)

We saw the giant rubber duck.

We got some new fish.

And plenty of other things.

Now that Google backs up the photos from my phone automatically, this will be a lot easier to do and to keep up with. I'm terribly lazy when it comes to backing up photos myself as well as uploading them in any manner. (Thanks G+) So, hopefully, you'll be seeing a lot more of us!

Funny Faces

2013-02-06T08:42:00.004-05:00

Sometimes it is really a challenge to get the kids to take nice pictures.

But these funny faces always make me smile.

Ornaments

2013-01-04T08:34:00.001-05:00

We don't have one of those glammed up trees that you see in glossy magazine pages. We have a tree filled with ornaments that mean something. Ornaments with names and dates on them, collected over the years, each with their own sentimental story. I packed up the tree yesterday and though I'd share one of my favorites with you.

Robert got me this ornament at the Santa Shop at school 2 years ago. He gave it to me and said, "I know it says Grandma on it but I wanted to get it because it's beautiful, just like you." I still tear up a bit just writing this. I'm so proud to have such a sweet and thoughtful son.

Why, it's a major award!

2013-01-03T08:02:00.003-05:00

The kids had an awards ceremony at school recently.

Conrad got one for Perfect Attendance.

Robert got one for Perfect Attendance and also one for completing his first 100 Steps for their reading challenge. Each step represents 15 minutes of reading time. Their school breaks their grading periods into report cards every 6 weeks. Once a trimester they have an awards ceremony. By the next one Conrad and Matthew should also get 100 Step awards. Hopefully Robert will be on to 200 or more. I couldn't be prouder of how much they're actually enjoying reading this year.

Snow

2013-01-02T08:05:00.001-05:00

It is no secret that I hate snow. Sure it's beautiful but it's cold and wet and makes me miserable. I wish we would have had snow for Christmas. We had plenty for New Years. I know, it's January in Pittsburgh and this is just how it is. If you need me, I'll be indoors until spring.

Happy New Year 2013

Happy New Year from Six Crazy Cookies!

2012 Was a great year for us here in cookie land.

We look forward to an even better 2013 filled with friends and family and a lot of love.

I found the most unusual petunias this year.

baby fever

2012-06-21T17:03:00.002-04:00

It's no secret that I've got 4 kids. My oldest is 9, the twins are 7, and the baby and only girl is 3. All my friends are just now having their first and second babies.

This is baby Kyrie. Isn't she cute?!?!!

It all kind of makes me miss having a baby in the house...

...but not enough to have another one.

Stitches and summer vacation

2012-06-12T12:20:00.001-04:00

Stitches and summer vacation just seem to go hand in hand and they make me one crazy momma.

While I deal with bloody screaming children pretty well, I still prefer not to. Today the boys were wrestling on the trampoline when Robert tossed Matthew and he hit his face on the metal bar, splitting his lip open. I dropped Conrad and Kyrie off at their Aunt's and took Robert, Matthew, and Ian (the kid I'm babysitting) to Med Express. Fortunately for M, no stitches. If this is how my summer is going to go though, I'd like to just skip it.

The little red light on my coffee pot made my morning. Thanks for making me coffee babe.

FLAMINGOS!!!

2012-04-30T09:45:00.000-04:00

Of course staying at the Fabulous Flamingo in Las Vegas, you expect to see a lot of flamingos.

There's the fountain.

Seriously, how cute is that!

And the live version. (They're much more lively at night for some reason. They squawked and flapped around a lot.)

And of course the super hot shades from the gift shop.

Cookie in Vegas

2012-04-29T12:26:00.001-04:00

I went to Las Vegas last week for my sister's wedding so this week will be dedicated to updating you on my trip.

2012-04-17T08:48:00.001-04:00

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

We had this passage from the Corinthians read during the ceremony. It is lovely and sentiment filled but after 8 years I can tell you there's a lot more. Love is telling the other person your breath stinks, roll over, without worrying that they'll leave you. It's arguing about the shopping list, yes we really do need all that stuff. It's watching our children grow up and raise them together. And when we are lucky, it's a quiet night after the kids are asleep, snuggled on the couch to watch a movie. A quarter of the way in we are both so exhausted that we've passed out and missed the movie and groggily awake at 3 am to drag his butt to bed.

I love you baby, here's to a lifetime together.

Here's some more on love.

Lovey Dovey

2012-04-16T10:24:00.004-04:00

Every year a pair of doves comes back to nest in our pine tree. They make baby doves that hop around my flower garden and look cute, even if they're not always that bright. They must have eggs now because I only see one instead of two.

Here it is perched on the fence in the morning sun next to it's nest tree. Baby dove pics to follow sometime soon!

It perched on the porch and stayed long enough for me to get a better pic this afternoon.

TOE SHOES

2012-04-15T11:33:00.001-04:00

I've wanted a pair of these forever!

And my hubbins got a pair too.

Yes, my children are doomed to have big feet.

Look what the Easter bunny brought me!

Egg Hunt

2012-04-07T13:56:00.000-04:00

In the hopes of creating a new Good Friday tradition, my mom and I took the twins and K to an Easter egg hunt. It was fun, but nothing will ever take the place of going to the chicken farm with my Grandma.

This is the least terrifying Easter Bunny I've seen in a long while.

See our eggs?

I love the way hyacinths smell and the green house was filled with them so I decided to get a little artsy with my photography.
