NGD (New Guitar Day!!) ...sorta.

2011-03-05T01:55:00.000-08:00

Goodmorrow!

The time has come for me to upgrade my axe!

I have given up my pursuit of building a guitar (that was gonna be a whole load of posts, but oh well!) & have decided to buy an Epiphone Les Paul!

Now, I need your help ;)

It's a Traditional Pro, features include the standard junk, but with coil-tapping & (more importantly, zebra pickups!!)

The difficulty I'm having is... which color?

Wine Red?

Or Ebony??

YOU DECIDE!

;)

NA NA NA NA NA NA NA

Hey all,

Sorry I haven't been posting regularly of late. I've had limited access to a the web in the past week, but soon..
Soon. ;)

In the meantime....

Thin Lizzy

2011-02-19T04:29:00.000-08:00

Well, I'm in awe.

I seen Thin Lizzy in the Olympia, Dublin on thursday, and it was probably the best performance I've ever seen.
Me & my friend decided to go up at 12pm, & queued until the doors opened at 7.15! Crazy, I know! But we were hoping for the band to come out & say hi (or give backstage passes....) seeing as we were the only ones there 'till 5!! I had only recently got into Thin Lizzy, & tbh I was expecting it to be a money making exercise..

But it was worth it. Oh so worth it.

They were supported by Sweet Savage & The SuperSuckers
Sweet Savage... Well, I really liked their rhythm guitarist & their drummer (mad bastard! Broke one of his sticks, then fired it right at us!! ) but their frontman just seems like an arrogant twat, stood there playing an open e for the whooole gig... He was using Phil's sig. reflecty bass, which crossed the line for me!
The Supersuckers were quite good! They had a very country rock n' roll vibe, which was a nice change from Sweet Savage's Maiden/Metallica mish mash... Their song Pretty Fucked Up is quite good, check it out!

Then Lizzy came on.
Words can't describe... So I wont try.
The line-up was perfect, I could see no fault with it. Scott Gorham's still got it!
Vivian Campbell as great too, wasn't expecting that! Brian Downey is better than 99% than drummers I've seen (If not 100%) ! Eric Mendoza, the bassist... Well, he loves his bass, literally! It was great & funny (in a good way!) to see him...working away! ;) Then there was the keyboard player.... Haha, he was good he was good! Joey Elliot of Def Leppard also made an appearance during The Boys Are Back In Town (they truely were!)
Then there was Ricky Warwick.

This guy was amazing, & left the biggest impression on me. He had such charisma, & total badass rock n roll swagger! He was amazing. His voice was perfect; not trying to be Phil, but making it his own.

All in all,

Thin Lizzy still have it, & we're still in love with you

For All You Rock Stars Out There...

I couldn't resist.....

I had to share this

Words cannot describe....

Happy Valentine's Day!

2011-02-14T11:40:00.000-08:00

Happy Valentine's Day!

...but for just how many of us is it going to actually be happy?
Plenty of people I know are Valentine-less; heck, I am too!
Is this society's way of telling me I need a girlfriend?? It's way of mocking those of us without that special someone whom we can shower with materialistic signs of "affection" ? From afar it would almost seem like company's profit levels are higher than the level of world-wide peace & luuuurv....

I don't know what this means in the big picture, but I'm at least thankful I wont be receiving any horrible chocolates and flowers that will be thrown out in a few days from now

In the meantime,

Mr. Gary Moore

Now FLUUUUUUUUUSH

Guitar 2.0. Thanks Gibson!!

FireBird X

Very Light, Ultra Comfortable,

& Fast Playing Physical Guitar.

......................................

This is genuinely Gibson's marketing strategy. I... I'm lost for words, I actually can't.... I just can't take this crap seriously!!

I suppose I should explain why !

For one, it's $5,500

Secondly,

IT'S UGLY AS HELL!!!! Look at it!

Supposedly, it has a " turbo charged "pure-analog™" engine "

I didn't know guitars generally came with v8's! x]

It's also one of their Robot line guitars. Which is one of these fugly mo fo's who tune themselves;

Which I don't agree with AT ALL. (But that's another rant for another day ;D )

In the words of Gibson's "marketing" guy Henry Juszkiewicz

"This will change music forever. This is more than a press conference. More than an event. This is an uprising!"

Sure.

It's more than a guitar too, if the features are anything to go by.

BUILT IN EFFECTS!!!! Are you as excited as I am?!?!
It comes with software (GuitarRig 3) so you can dial in your own custom tone. Which I guess, is a neat idea. I'll give it that. But if you know what the DuskTiger is, then you'll know how well that went...
It has computer chips in it. Computer chips.
In a guitar.
You don't see guitar strings in a computer ! (Untapped market??)
It also has BluTooth, which means you'll have to re-charge you guitar

Hmmmmmmmmm....... I wonder can I get it on the Vodafone network......

It has over 2,000 possible pickup combos, and you just have to wonder.....

Why??

Do you think Slash, Jimmy Page, Gary Moore had 2,000 different guitars so they could have any tone they wanted? No, they had whatever they could get their hands on. Slash even came across Les Pauls by accident! But yet, they are the most recognizable guitarists on the planet!

This guitar wont make you sound or play better, but it'll blind you with so many needless gimmicks that you'll forget all about it!!

According to Gibson's website,

"Revolution is a powerful word - not to be thrown around lightly"

Well, at least they got one thing right

PHIL X YEEEAAAAHH!

2011-02-07T19:03:00.000-08:00

This mo fo is one the craziest, talented guys I've seen in a lon-....
