That means new fabric (Yipppeee) I love to shop for fabric. So watch my website for new prints and hopefully some new items. I have been so busy making Tater Baker Bags, I just don't have time to try new things.

We are in the middle of winter here in the U.P. Most people rarely think about resting their feet during the day. You go to work and stand on your feet or maybe wear heels all day and at day's end your feet are tired, achy and maybe even a bit swollen. Special care must be taken to prevent such problems as cuts, sores, calluses and bunions. You must relax by taking time out to pamper your tired aching feet

1. Make a daily exam of your feet and toenails and choose socks that are not tight or too short. After having heels on the entire day, be sure to give the feet a break by switching to a pair of slippers or sandals.

2. Elevate your feet by lying on the floor and rest the feet on edge of a chair or lay on a bed resting the feet on the headboard. Doing this for ten to twenty minutes will help swollen, aching feet. It enables the trapped fluids to travel down your legs to the heart, causing the swelling to subside.

3 Treat your feet to a massage once a week. Get into comfortable, loose clothing and a comfy chair, supporting your back well. Make a mixture to rub into your feet gently, using two teaspoons olive oil and adding three drops of lavender oil. If you wish you can also add a drop of chamomile or geranium oil or both. After the ingredients are mixed, rub gently all over your feet. Now just rest awhile with your feet up. Wash the feet using a mild soap, rinse well, dry with a soft towel being careful to dry in between the toes.

4. Smooth and soften your dry and cracked skin. There are many good heel and foot care balms on the market that make your feet feel so soft and smooth. After using them a few times you will be amazed at how wonderful your feet feel when you retire for the night and on awakening you will find them much softer.
tendency to swell. Make your feet feel less tired by rolling them a cold drink can from the refrigerator. If the weather is hot, put your foot spray in the fridge and spritz it on to feel better after a long day at work.

For more information to freshen tired feet

My Memory Bear

I am so happy with my Belly Button Memory Bear that I had made for my Dad Grogan. We had it made out of one of his western shirts. Denise did a wonderful job, I am thinking about having one made in memory of my Grandma Jay (Grandma J) I don't have any of her dresses, so we will have to find something that looks and reminds me of Grandma.

My mom was in tears of delight when she received her Memory Bear. She was looking through some pictures and found a picture of Dad wearing this exact shirt! She was so thrilled, she had to call me right away!

My sister says that Mom carries it around on her walker from room to room. My Dad played the guitar and I always loved the song (him singing) Take an Old Cold Tater and Wait, so I had that included. Randy had an old pick that he has had for years and we put that into the net heart under the vest. I loved having the picture on the vest. I liked the idea of these Memory Bear, I had Denise make me one too. I am just so happy with the way they turned out.

Be sure to check out Denise's albums of some of the bears she has created. They are all so beautiful.

well I got a batch of cookies going in the kitchen, so have to go tend to them. I just wanted to share the pictures of the bears.

Still Winter

Honeysuckle Pink is the color for spring. this pair of barefoot sandals specially for spring.

By the looks of outside, it is still winter, it is snowing, not much but flurries. Hold the board slightly
angled down over the edge of the nail. Smooth the edges
towards the center with a light motion.

* Gently massage the nail surfaces with a cuticle oil or
cream.

* Fill a bowl with warm water and add a handful of bath
salts of a few drops of pure essential oil. Place both feet
in the bowl and soak for five to ten minutes.

* Thoroughly dry feet with a towel and apply a drop of
cuticle remover to the nail contours. Leave it on for a few
minutes while you smooth away any hard skin or calluses on
the soles of your feet using an exfoliating cream.

* Use a manicure stick covered with cotton wool to gently
"roll" the cuticles back. Massage the hard skin with the
scrub, then rinse off in the warm water.

* Rinse your feet in cold water to increase circulation. Dry
them again with a towel and pay special attention to the
skin between your toes.

* To remove any oily film, clean your toenails with a cotton
pad soaked in remover.

* Apply a base coat of polish, followed by two coats of
polish, and finally a top coat. Placing cotton wool between
the toes helps separate them and makes it easier to apply
polish.
Now you are ready for the beach, that cruise that you are looking forward to or all the other summer activities where you go barefoot.

One last thing, will you please vote for me in the craft top 100 sites, I have slipped in the ratings, in fact I fell off the radar! :(
You can vote once a day.

You can also find me on Facebook, Etsy, Artfire, twitter and my website.

Until next time, take care

Skeeter Jorgensen

Jen, my Granddaughter,

It is with a sad heart that I post this. My granddaughter Jen and her husband Pat, have been in Oklahoma City trying to find a bone marrow transplant for Pat. Now the Doctors say he is not a good candidate. They are trying to get back home to Billings Montana, as we don't know how much more time Pat has. They will try to seek other methods of treatment. Jen just had a baby on the December 17th, and they have a 4 year old. Jen is my only granddaughter and my heart just breaks for her.

To read her Blog and if you are so moved, a donation button has been added. Please Pray for the courageous couple. They are Christians and are really trusting in the Lord to lead them as what to do next.

http://patnave.blogspot.com/

Thank you for reading, if you know of any help out there for this young couple, please leave a comment.

God Bless you!

Skeeter Jorgensen

June, how did it get to be June already?

I have been busy, still learning how to use my embroidery machine. Either do it yourself or go to a salon to get a pedicure. No one likes to see chipped nail polish, unfinished, ugly feet. Its a turn off. Make sure you always have nail polish on them. whether its only clear or with color. You always want them to shine.
Pedicures are a great way to relax your feet will look great. Paint your toenails to match the beads of the barefoot sandals!

During the summer, soak your feet and then use a pumice stone to remove the calouses. Paint your toenails bright colors

Take a shower, and use a pumice stone, sponge, foot file, ped egg, etc. on your heels, and any other rough patches-maybe around your toes or corns.

Note: When using pumice stones be sure to wash them with an antibacterial soap first.

When you get out of the shower-lather your feet in a good hydrating lotion-Vaseline lotions, and Eucerin (dermatologist recomended) work well in my experience. Even baby lotion!

Let lotion dry (2-4 minutes.) Then, break open a Vitamin E pill (gel form)-unless you already have Vit E in oil form-rub all over or just on roughest patches.

Next, use some sort of petroleum jelly. Whether it's vaseline brand or A&D. Make consistancy super thick or more thin. In my opinion, I hate wearing socks anyways, especially to bed-so when I do this I make it worth it. Therefore, I tend to be a little more generous with my products.

Grab two pairs of nice and warm socks-put them on. Be careful to open up the socks so the gunk won't get all over the outside. Put both pair on and go to bed!
Note: If your feet are really cold, which sometimes this does that to them, I wrap an extra blanket around my them.

To maintain this, you have to continue this every so often. Or at least add a little Vitamin E or/and Petroleum Jelly to your heels and use your pumice stone in the shower.

Now I enjoy a good foot soak, I believe most people do after a long hard day or workout. A plain old foot tub will do the trick. Just soak feet in luke warm or hot water (not too hot) add some Epsom salt soak for about 20 min or more depending on the person, time, or comfort.

While soaking scrub those feet with a foot scrubber, the cost for one is about $2.49 or cheaper depending where you shop. After the soak dry your feet really good , make sure you dry between the toes and let air dry for about 5 min, they sell many foot scrapers. I find that the ped egg is good but if you have really rough feet you need a good old scrapper which is like a razor blade for the foot . never go across scrap up and down until new skin appears, and do not go deep. After that ,cream your feet, use foot cream that helps improve dull, dry, and flaky feet. If you cannot find foot cream which comes in many brands, coco butter works great.

Prepare your nails by clipping them with a square cut and rounded edges. Then file them until they are nice and smooth. Make sure you clean off all of your old nail polish. You want your party feet to look their best.

Soak your feet in a bubbly foot bath using a product like Jeni Pedi Soak Foot Bath for five or ten minutes. This is a good start if you are going to spend all night dancing at the prom.

Dry your foot thoroughly. Add a drop of cuticle oil at the base of the toe nail. Gently push the cuticles back with a cuticle stick.

Buff your feet. Remove all the dead skin with a pumice stone. Rinse and dry your feet when you are finished. You are almost ready for a holiday party now.

Moisturize your feet. Rub it in all over your foot, including between the toes. Let it soak in.

Paint your nails in a festive color that complements your dress. You can add miniature gem stones for a glamorous look and feel. Put on your barefoot sandals and you are ready. I had lost track of how long it had been, I was watching a video tape that I made back in the 1990's about my salt and pepper collection. At one point I mentioned a special set I got for being smoke free for a couple of years. I also mentioned the date, March 23rd 1989. I fell on the ice on January 11th and broke my leg. So here I am in a cast for at least another two weeks! I didn't know that a broken leg could hurt so bad and keep me from taking care of business. I am in a wheelchair, because I do not handle crutches very well. I am more of a hazard to myself and to others when I try to walk with crutches, so the Doctor said I should probably use the wheelchair. I have one for when my RA flares up.

So that is why the absence in posting, not that I am very good at keeping up with posting in my blog. I use to do the same thing when I tried to keep a diary!

Anyway, I am trying to get back to my business, I have had orders and have been able to take care of them, with the help of my husband. Which by the way, we both had a bad case of the stomach flu a week or so after I broke my leg. What a joy that was! :(

Two days before I broke my leg, I set 10 chicken eggs in the incubator, my husband, Randy, had to turn the eggs and monitor the temps and humidity for the next 19 or so days. He hatched out 7 cute little chickies! They are growing like little weeds. I am looking forward to warmer weather, so I can put them outside. We have them in our "mudroom/utility" room now.

Okay until next time, take care and may the Good Lord Bless and Keep you!

Skeeter

Take the Pledge to Buy Handmade

<img height="100" alt="I Took The Handmade Pledge! I know I haven't, it will be here and gone before we know it.
I have posted some new prints in Tater Baker Bags on my website and have some more fabric on order. I will post them on my site as soon as I get them done.
I have been asked to make some Tater Baker Bags in a Nautical Theme, Lighthouses and such. I found this fabric.

Nautical Print, boats, lighthouses on Blue

The next one is little chickens on nests with little stars, the background is hunter green. I found this fabric while searching for the lighthouse theme fabric. I also found some little sunflowers with star on a red background. Remember. Tater Baker Bags make great gifts for the college student, or anyone on your gift list that loves baked potatoes! Remember Gift Giving Days coming up.... Easter, Mother's Day, Birthdays, Christmas. As a housewarming gift, with a scrubbie in a gift basket. You will have a chance to buy a Tater Scrubber with a potato bag, while supply lasts, you can note your preference in colors and I will try to come as close as I can, but may not be able to include the exact color.

Hens Nest Stars Green

I also found a couple of quilt prints. I just found out that my domain name, that has been lost for about 3 years or so, has been restored to me! Praise the Lord! skeetersbarefootsandals is now my domain name again! I am so happy. I was registered with another company and they held my domain name for "hostage" so to speak. They went out of business and the name has been floating around for awhile now. Anyway, I had GoDaddy capture it for me, it took a while, but now the domain name is MINE again! It has my name in it, so why would anyone else want it?

We are getting ready to go on a trip to L.A. Now why would someone that lives in "God's Country The Upper Peninsula Michigan" go to Los Angeles??? We are making a trip to L.A. to visit with Randy's son and family. My husband is a new grandfather, the baby's name is Ayden and he is about a month old. It is partly a trip to get me out of the house, to visit family and other medical reasons. I will put up a notice on my website about accepting orders. We will only be gone for about 5 days, so this should not interfere with my business. Hopefully I will have a chance to check my email for any hotspots. I plan on taking a Lavender Eye Pod with me on the airplane. I am a little nervous about flying, as I have never flown before.

Speaking of Eye Pods, I am working on a page with all the Lavender Eye Pods along with the shopping cart. Seems like there is always something to update, edit or take care of in some way.

The Lavender Eye Pods are a welcome retreat from the pressures of modern life! Rest an eye pillow over your eyes when you are trying to doze off or taking a
break. It will provide total darkness and a gentle pressure that is
quite relaxing. The Eye Pillow may be placed near your pillow at
night to relax and help you to doze off. Lavender helps to relax and sooth you.

Use at room temperature or you may chill your eye pillow in a
plastic ziplock bag in the freezer. The eye pillow should be kept
in a ziplock bag when not in use. With proper care the eye pillow
should last for years. This eye pillow is not intended to be heated
in the microwave, this may destroy the usefulness of the herbs.

The Lavender Eye Pods contain Lavender, chamomile and flax seed. I also offer them with just lavender and flax seed. Those that are sensitive to aromas, I have plain eye pods, with just flax seed.

That is it for this time, back to building the ark, we are having so much rain, I think we may need it before we even get the plans drawn up!
Take care and remember Jesus Loves you!
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:13

Pod, pillow, lavender, gentle pressures, headaches

Tater Baker Bags

Have you ever used a Tater Baker Bag to cook potatoes in the microwave? If not, I would like to introduce you to the BEST way to make baked potatoes. So easy and so simple and they are the best potatoes.

A handcrafted bag, designed to bake potatoes in the microwave. This simple bag creates a "JUST RIGHT" baked potato in your microwave. The inside of the potato is well done, yet moist, while the skin remains tender. The Tater Baker Bag will cook from 1 to 4 potatoes at once. Be sure to follow your microwave directions, as all microwaves do not cook the same. Start at the least time, checking often. No more pricking them with a knife, covering them with plastic wrap or hot plates..... Just cook them in the bag...take them to the table to keep them warm...remove from bag and cut them with a fork. They will be very fluffy. After use, let the bag air dry, cleaning is seldom necessary, but if needed, hand wash and air dry.

The size of this bag is about 10 X 10 inches. I am using up some of my fabric stash, so you may never see the print in potato bags again.
The Tater Baker Bags are made of cotton print in colorful kitchen designs, with a batting and lined with a cotton muslin. You can also order a matching Spud Scrubber, while supplies last, so get your scrubbers today. The scrubbies are good for Potatoes, or spuds as we call them, Vegetables, Pots, Pans, Sinks, in every room of the house! This is the handiest scrubber for all types of non-scratch cleaning.
