Another Kingfisher Blogger Meet at Bangalore

The last time we had a Kingfisher IndiBlogger Meet was when Iron Maiden came down to Bangalore. The theme of course, was Heavy Metal and it was held at Stones Pub at Indira Nagar. We pretty much owned the place, with around 40 bloggers belting out Maiden numbers and downing the beers like there was no tomorrow.

This time we’re going to try something different – a regular IndiBlogger meet, with the usual blogging agenda + the Kingfisher beer. I foresee 3 hours of utter chaos.

The response for this blogger meet has been one of the highest, all 100 seats were taken up the same day of the announcement. Thanks to our venue sponsor Kyra, we got more seats – looks like this is going to be the biggest & loudest IndiBlogger meet yet!

Vote and help put 40,000 Indian kids in school for a year

One of India’s most trusted and credible NGOs, GiveIndia is taking part in a competition on Facebook to win a US$1 million grant. The winner will be the NGO that gets the highest number of votes from Facebook users. The prize of $1 million will help put or keep 40,000 children across India in school for one year.

I guess I finally found a use for all those friends on Facebook.

What’s really sad at this point is despite our population, we are in the 65th position. Hopefully bloggers can make a difference. Do vote and spread the word:

Standing at the door of a moving train, one leg braced against the doorframe, the other on the steps, camera strap choking my neck. What surprised me about this picture was that I wasn’t even looking in the viewfinder. I was more concerned about keeping my head from being knocked off by an electricity pole!

Is Google making the same mistakes that Microsoft made with IE?

For years now, users have been griping about Microsoft bundling their web browser with Windows. By doing so, users were never compelled to install a browser – why go about selecting the best one when my pc came with one installed? Microsoft was blamed for monopolizing the market, using the popularity of Windows to make Internet Explorer the dominant force.

Google does not have a product like Windows (yet!) but they do have their web properties which are used by millions of people. I was just surfing youtube, on the latest version of Opera and I saw this:

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t they doing the same thing by nagging me when I surf one of their websites? Also, “new web browser”? Does that mean my browser is outdated?

The same message shows up in Internet Explorer, Safari and Firefox.

This was another trippy trip with the Patels. We headed off one Sunday afternoon to the Vandalur zoo, and for once – all that walking was worth it cause it ended with this White Tiger putting on a great show for us!

Love those greenish-blue eyes!

I didn’t know these buggers liked leaves. Soon they’ll develop longer necks.

Yummy – humans! (I’m sure we’re not as tasty as he thinks we would be)

Now that’s a profile pic – I don’t know how he doesn’t bite that tongue with his own teeth. I can picture myself running for my life and the tiger thinking “relax dude, I was just yawning”.

I so wish we could have thrown a cute little deer in there and watched it be hunted down.
