500+ users worldwide and counting!

The first couple months since Skillr launched have been amazing. While still in Beta and without any serious promotion (except for a couple Blog posts), the service has been able to attract 500 users worldwide. 70% of them come from Japan, China and India, 20% from Europe and 10% from the US. The Skillr Badge (a widget you can post on any website to promote your skills) seems to be quite popular in Japan and China according to our log files. During this time, we have been working hard on the underlying technology. We are now able to index data approximately 10 times faster than six months ago. Also, we have recently upgraded our server connectivity, so the response times should be noticeably better. Considering we are doing all this in our free time while keeping our day jobs and maintaining family life, we believe these results are quite good. Thank you for your support and keep listing your skills! Sooner or later, we will take Skillr out of Beta indeed :-)

While targeting the US market, most of the traffic comes from Asia...

1. Not that many people know how to write a proper resume -do you? 2. Resumes are not always kept up to date -honestly, when is the last time you "forgot" to cancel each of your job board profiles after you found your dream job? 3. Nonexistent automatic way of determining whether a given resume is suitable for a given job Recruiter: "Hi, this is recruiter XY. Our records tell us you are a great Java developer..." Seeker: "Well... I only mentioned in my resume as a joke Java was my preferred job location..." 4. Resume Spam -do you really read each and every job ad you come across? 1 month in the Silicon Valley! (Sept/Oct 2007)
