Review: Makeup Brushes by Lauren Luke

Panacea81 aka Lauren Luke is no stranger to the YouTube Beauty scene and I'm very proud of her accomplishments over the years. Not too long ago, she released a line of makeup brushes that she has personally designed. Best of all, the brushes have very pocket-friendly prices!

Even though there weren't many reviews out there for these brushes, I was inclined to try them out anyway. I ordered the Flat Eye Shadow Brush, Pencil Brush and the unique-looking Foundation Brush.

After using them for awhile, I must say that I'm quite pleased!

First things first, allow me to squeal over the pink metal ferule! Isn't it too pretty? I've come across pink-handled brushes and found them tacky but having the ferule in a brassy pink is girly but classy at the same time. The brand name, "Lauren Luke", on the glossy black handle is also pink :) The Pencil Brush comes with a clear tube cover to keep the bristles in place though I wonder why the rest of brushes don't have them.

Flat Eye Shadow Brush

This brush appears to be a lookalike of the MAC239 brush meant for shading. Initially, I didn't think much of this brush because the bristles weren't very dense but I was wrong. It picked up good amounts of eyeshadow and packs them on with minimal fallout. The tapered tip is also great for softening harsh edges. The bristles are made out of soft goat hair.

Only £4 for this handy brush. That's about RM20! Bargain!

Foundation Brush

The one brush that I had my eye on was the uniquely-shaped foundation brush. It's a cylinder with a tapered tip? Or dome-shaped, as described on the website. The densely-packed synthetic bristles are so so so soft that I kept petting it as if it was my kitty's paw. I used it with liquid and also cream foundation, which the brush blended so beautifully. The shape and the size is narrow enough on the tip to sweep across tight areas such as under the eyes and side of the nose. Yet, it's not too small so buffing in the foundation doesn't take forever. Because the bristles are dense enough, there was very little streaks during application.

£6 (~RM29) makes this a winning buy!

Pencil Brush

Right after I ordered this brush, I was surprised with the MAC219 as gift from a friend (You know who you are! *hugs*). Naturally, I had to do a comparison. MAC219 is a wee bit fatter with bristles that are more dense. In terms of performance, it won't be fair for me to say that they perform the same. When it comes to applying color, they work very similarly but buffing-wise, the MAC219 did better. The handle of the MAC one is also longer. I use both brushes interchangeably to apply eyeshadow on the outer-V or on the lower lashline.

At £3.25 (~RM16), you can't beat the price.

Not only did Lauren made these awesome brushes affordable, she also made them accessible. International registered shipping is only £5.99 and took around 2 weeks to arrive from the UK. These brushes along with a variety of five more and a set can be ordered through the Lauren Luke Shop.

Review: Anna Sui Nail Colors

Anna Sui has done it again with their packaging! This time around in their Palace Sparkle collection, Anna Sui has released nail polishes with loads of glitter. Very appropriate for the holidays and I've had loads of fun glittering up my nails. Yet, they got me thinking -- are they worth the price tag?

Yes, they do look very pretty in the bottle but in terms of content, I can't give Anna Sui that many points. #402 is a deep wine shade with sparse gold shimmers. Pretty, right? Guess how many coats it took to achieve that opaqueness? Three! I really like the color but it takes far too long for me to apply the polish and one unintentional scrape (which is very likely to happen in my case) means I'll have to start all over again. On another note, this color applies smoothly and although deep, doesn't stain the nails.

My 2nd favorite out of the lot is #081 which has a mix of pink, gold and silver glitters. I used it in one of my Nails for Noobs posts. Glitter is glitter so I can't say if it's great quality-wise.

Next in line would be #005 which is basically gold shimmers with the occasional chunks of glitter. I find this shade a tad frustrating because the larger chunks of glitter is not consistent so in some applications, I'd get a lot of them and in some, none at all. If I layered on the glitter, I'd get too much.

The shade I liked the least is #082 and from the close-up, you can probably tell why. The glitters are just very flat and uninteresting. I would've preferred glitters with more dimensions especially when they're not gonna come cheap. The effect just wasn't impressive.

All of the polishes have the classic Anna Sui rose scent which can be overpowering and get you dizzy whilst you're applying the polish. After a few days, the scent will fade and that's when you'll catch me sniffing my nails *awkward*.

Review + Look: Lancôme Trésor Midnight Rose

Such a beauty, isn't it? (I meant the perfume, not me)
The new Lancôme Trésor Midnight Rose exerts feminine romanticism with this elegant purple and gold gradient bottle, accented by a satin rose.

They couldn't have picked a more fitting ambassador for this perfume -- the young and promising Emma Watson. How she's grown to be such a lady!
My attempt to re-create Emma's look in the video, unfortunately, fell short. Nevertheless, it was fun to pull out the red lipstick again.

Top Notes: Raspberry, Blackcurrant Buds
Middle Notes: Jasmine, Peony, Rose Absolute, Pink Pepper
Base Notes: Virginian Cedar, Musk and Vanilla

Overly sweet perfumes may not be my cup of tea but the tangy berry-like sweetness of this perfume is light and comfortable to the nose. I may not read notes but I definitely picked up the Raspberry scent right away! It smelt fresh and springy which probably contradicts the perfume's name since it's meant to be a "midnight" scent.

Despite being an EDP (supposedly more concentrated), I found this perfume somewhat on the mild side and while the scent lingers, it doesn't remain strong throughout the day. In fact, it isn't strong in the first place. In my books, this perfume falls into the "Day Fragrance" category. Just as portrayed in the commercial, this perfume appears to be mysteriously sensual from the at first glance but in reality, it's playfully innocent.

A 50ml bottle retails for RM205 and 75ml at RM265.

The eyes were quite simple with champagne shadow on the lids and greyish brown on the outer corner as well as the lower lashline. The liner had a slight angle but it wasn't winged out. Loads of mascara, of course. She probably had natural falsies on but I was too lazy. The red lipstick on her was more on the cool side, which I don't own. I also could've gone darker with the brows. Just some light contouring on the cheeks with a hint of pale pink blush.

Facials of 2011: The Good & The Bad

In 2011, I've had my fair share of facials. Partially because I started deal-shopping. When facials are well below RM100, they're hard to pass up! I've learned a few lessons though. To be honest, I don't find facial necessary but occasionally, it's just nice to escape into a few hours of serenity and wake up looking refreshed.

What was your best and worst facial experience? I'd love to hear your stories!

The Good

SanPuri Beauty

After my first deal-facial experience (will be storied below), I was somewhat fearful of taking up another deal. But I figured I might make it through since the Thalgo brand's pretty established and I'll have my cousin there to protect me should anything were to happen... From the outside, SanPuri Beauty looked as ordinary as any other shop-lot salon. We went in and it still looked ordinary. Then we walked pass the reception area and whoaaa.... It's like a whole other place! Though the space was small, the decor and ambiance was very spa-like with soothing music and water sounds... dim lights... aromatherapy air... and a fish spa pond!

Before we went in for our facial, we had a foot soak and also inhaled aromatherapy steam for relaxation. The facial I did included a microdermabrasion treatment and while it wasn't the best facial ever, I appreciated the service. Most typical facial places would take an extractor to my face and poke unnecessarily, eventually giving me more pimples. This therapist however, just used a towel and her fingers. Thank you for seeing that I don't need to be poked!

Best of all, no pushy sales talk! The regular prices are quite reasonable as well ie. you can get a basic facial for less than RM100 and add RM50 (I think) for microdermabrasion.

Clarins Institut (KLCC)

I've had several Clarins facials before and they're always pleasant. The techniques used are for relaxation and the facial includes light hand and feet massage. Previously I only tried the [hydration] ones which were quite good.

Recently, I went for the whitening facial and it was probably one of the best from Clarins. I snoozed, as usual, but had some dejavu moments because the steps used were a series of repetitions. After the facial, I thought my skin looked brightened and refreshed. Actually, what surprised me most was the reaction of a total stranger when she stopped me in the middle of Sephora to look at my naked skin. Positive reaction, of course. I was floating after that!

Energy Day Spa (Great Eastern Mall)

Probably one of the most relaxing facial experiences of 2011. Read this [post] for my full experience.
However... the place has a reputation of inattentive front-desk staff according to some friends. My facial was for a review so my experience could've been not quite genuine.

The So-so

CRES Wellness (Kepong)

The facial promised many things and I kept being woken up in the middle of the facial because the management wanted to take before-after pictures. Ultimately, the results were so-so just like the facial was. [Full review here].

The Bad

S2 Slimming (Kepong)

This was the first deal/coupon facial that I bought and I became fearful of facial deals for half a year! The ad said that there would be microdermabrasion. I went through the facial, anticipating the microdermabrasion that never happened. Overall the facial service itself was okay. Very typical salon-type of facial.

After the facial, I expressed my disappointment to the staff saying that I was expecting the microdermabrasion. She insisted that it wasn't part of the deal and I didn't argue because I didn't have a copy of the ad with me and I only paid RM38.

Upon hearing that I was interested in microdermabrasion, the staff immediately took it as an opportunity to push the package to me. I had zero intention on signing up a facial package. Probably it was my fault for being "too polite" but the girl pushed her hardest! For every excuse/objection that I had, she'd have a counter! She was very very persistent! I think she used practically all the tricks in the book. I was confined in the consultation room for a whole hour!

Eventually, I won and she gave up but I've never seen SUCH a pushy salesperson in my life EVER! Even if I was interested in a trial for the microdermabrasion, I wouldn't DARE go back there. She might throw me in a cage next time!

One of my "resolutions" in 2012 is to rotate the products in my makeup bag. A brilliant idea sparked by Kimoko.
Most days I do my makeup out of my pouch and sadly, many of my stuff ends up being neglected.

Review: Ciracle Eye Contour Gel

When it comes to skincare, there are a few sins that one could commit:

Not cleansing off makeup properly before going to bed
Pay little attention to hydration
Not applying sunscreen
Skipping on eye care

While I'm usually quite diligent, the fourth sin is one that I commit over and over again.

Do you use an eye treatment? What's your current favorite?

Allow me to whine about my eye area after the jump and then I'll tell you if the Ciracle Eye Contour Gel is of any help.

First of all, let me emphasize the importance of eye care...

The skin around the eye area is very much thinner than the rest of the face (except lips) and yet it's one of those areas that get stretched out a lot. Be it from laughing a lot, applying eye makeup, removing said eye makeup, wearing contact lenses, etc.
And the eyes also get strained a lot from staring into the computer screen several hours a day.
If signs of tiredness and fine lines were to show up, they'd be most obvious around the eye area.

Unfortunately for me, without the help of concealer, I'd look like I need a sleep coma *sighs*. Worse still, most eye treatments do squat for me. Well, except for ridiculously expensive ones.

Suffice to say, I've sorta stopped shopping around for eye treatments since I'm rather pessimistic towards their effectiveness. My expectations towards the Ciracle Eye Contour Gel was pretty much neutral.

Did it help with the dark circles and puffiness? Ummm....
What I can tell you is that the gel feels like a serum and absorbs readily with just a few taps. Upon application, the skin around my eye area would look smoother and the fine lines less apparent.

To say that Ciracle works would be difficult but I like the texture and how it makes my skin feels enough that I'm inclined to using it daily. I'd also tap the excess on other creased areas such as the smile lines and forehead.

I'm still on the lookout for an eye treatment that can solve my dark circles woes without costing a significant fraction of my salary!
Being told that I "look tired" when I have no concealer on is starting to get annoying...

Nail Polish Noob: Loose Pigment Nail Colors

While I may have over 700 eyeshadow colors in my stash, my nail color collection doesn't even come close. If I were to paint every single fingernail and toenail with a different polish color, I wouldn't have enough colors.

As I was watching a nail tutorial video showing how to apply loose glitter onto nails, it got me thinking; can I do the same with loose pigment eyeshadows? I've heard of people using pigment on nails... hmm...

The method that I used ended up being a tad different though.

Almost all of the nail tutorials using loose pigments involved premixing a clear nail polish with some pigment powder. I wasn't too sure if I wanted to experiment with my one and only bottle of top coat. Alternately, I tried out the loose glitter application method but with loose pigments instead. And it worked!

On top of being able to have many shades of nail colors, I get to utilize those neglected sample baggies of pigments.

You will need:

Top Coat
Small Brush (that you don't mind damaging)*
Loose Pigments (I'm using random mineral pigments)

*The brush doesn't really get damaged but you will get polish stuck to it and have to clean it with polish remover. In other words, I don't want to use this brush on my eyes anymore.

WARNING: This is going to create quite a mess! Lay down your "workstation" with some newspaper

Let's do this!

Work with 1 finger at a time
Apply a thin and even layer of base coat (or top coat as a base coat)
Working very QUICKLY, pat the loose pigment over the base coat. Lightly but firmly press the pigment onto the nail while you allow about one minute for the pigment to set. You can start working on the next nail while you wait
Knock off any excess and apply another thin and even layer of top coat over the pigment
Repeat step #2 & #3 for more opacity
When the pigment settles completely, you'd probably get a rather "textured" finish so you may want to add on another layer of top coat to smooth and for more shine

You're probably wondering... "This is so much work! How is this for Nail Polish Noobs??"
Well, here's why:

If you're an NPN, you're probably not so willing to spend much on nail polishes in funky colors. This is a great way to try out all sorts of different colors without committing to a full bottle
As messy as the process is, this is going to be one of your neatest application. NPNs tend to get polish on areas besides the nail such as the cuticles, sides of the nails, finger pads, palm, hair, knee, etc. I guess we're just more confident with clear polish rather than colored and the pigment that does get everywhere can be easily washed off with soap and water
You don't have to be neat at all when you're patting on the pigments. The base coat would just grab what it could and you can easily knock off the excess
Little downtime for drying is required so you gain use of your digits much quicker and not have to walk around with your hands sticking out like a zombie's

The tricky part...

You must have very good timing to work with this method ie. quickly! If the base coat dries before you can pat on the pigment, it won't stick
Your base coat cannot be too thick or it would grab too much pigment and make the nail color look goopy
If you don't knock of enough of the excess pigments, the finish will be "textured"
When applying the final top coat, use a thicker layer but you have to be light-handed. Too much pressure may cause the pigment underneath to slide

I did bright cool colors on my left hand. They're all random pigments that I have lying around which I can't remember the names of...

On my right hand, I did earthy warm colors which I wasn't too crazy about... Too boring!

Natural and organic products are all the rage now. Nonetheless, to come about brands that are certified organic rather than just have the claim stamped on, isn't as easy. At the top of my head I can only think of perhaps 3 or 4 ECOCERT certified brands available locally and even so, they only carry less than 10 types of products under the brand.

In came the French pioneer in organic cosmetics, Melvita. I never imagined such a complete array of organic cosmetic products to exist.

Melvita's commitment to the well-being of the environment isn't only limited to their products but also the build-up of their stores. Don't you just love the green growing out of the walls? Yes! They're actually fresh plants! They have the most extensive range of organic cosmetic products in the world.

Some of their bestsellers include the Floral Waters, Beauty Oils, their anti-aging skin care range (Bio-Excellence and Naturalift) as well as Melvita's first ever product -- the Hexagonal Soap. In a nutshell, they have products suitable for practically all types of skin conditions and concerns.

The brand offers several starter kits from as low as RM49 for customers to try out the products without having to splurge on a set of full-sized ones. Granted, the products aren't ridiculously priced to begin with. The prices are comparable to most department store brands in the market.

What was impressive about this brand is the vast range of products that received the ECOCERT certification. Getting that certification isn't easy with ECOCERT's somewhat stringent requirements.

I won't go into the hard facts but basically in order to be certified organic, 95% of the total ingredients must be from natural origin and 95% of the plant-based ingredients must be organic. When it comes to organic, the European certification board doesn't just look at the end product. They have to check that the origin/source of the ingredient is from organic farming. On top of that, the board will check that the products' manufacturing process doesn't harm the environment.

The packaging of the product must also be biodegradable or recyclable.
The products cannot contain a list of ingredients which includes synthetic perfumes, dyes, parabens and animal-derived ingredients (animal-produced ingredients such as honey and milk are fine)

Keep in mind though that for a cosmetic product to be 100% organic is not exactly practical because a large portion of its content is water and water is not an organic compound that can be "farmed" thus, it cannot be certified organic. Same goes for minerals.

Video Tutorial: Lady Gaga Viva Glam II

Take two!

Finally, I remade the Lady Gaga MAC Viva Glam II look since my previous failed video attempt. To be honest, I was conveniently putting it off until a very sweet lipgloss-eating friend *winks* gifted me with the actual lipstick and I couldn't not do the tutorial! Hitting two birds with one stone, this look features the Urban Decay Naked Palette as per requests.

Granted, it's not my best look but it's my first video recorded with the Panasonic Lumix LX5 and I'm very happy with the quality compared to my old compact.

Not as dramatic as I wanted it to be... And with Gaga being so much fairer than I am, the lipstick looks a lot more nude. Hence, smokey eyes would probably have been a better pair for it.

Nail Polish Noob: Purple Glitter Gradient Nails - Tutorial!

In my previous nail polish post, I tried my hand at creating a gradient using glitter. That got me thinking; how about doing a gradient using color? And so I did.

My Purple Glitter Gradient Nails isn't an A-grade job. More like a D+ but it was fun trying and some of the nails did turn out alright. I think...

Best of all, it's noob-friendly! Ie. steady hands not required.

L-R: Color Combos (Dunno the code. Some "Golden Lilac" shade, Revlon Nail Enamel in 795 Devilish, Anna Sui Nail Art Color N in 081, The Face Shop Top Coat

I applied the golden lilac polish as a base color
Then, I swept Devilish from the cuticle upwards to half of the nail. After that, I applied another coat of the golden lilac. I didn't do this quick enough so the dark color didn't really blend out...
Not to worry! We'll make it work with the next layer! I did the dark color again
Few seconds later I applied the pink glitter polish (Anna Sui) which blended the purple but a wee bit too much. Didn't wanna redo so I just finished with top coat.
Tip: Wait 8 seconds before applying the glitter coat for better blending
Tip 2: Or you could use the sponge/brush technique to create the gradient but I've never tried it so I can't tell you if it's noob-friendly

So the trick with this is simply timing and pressure applied when you coat. Neatness not required! Glitter nail polish and top coat are a must for every nail noob.

When I acquired the Inglot AMC Eyeliner, I had nothing but praises for that awesome Purple liner. Every Friday I would be inclined to wear it and one of my favorite combination with it is Yellow eyeshadow.

After you've prepped your lids with the eyeshadow, pat on the yellow eyeshadow until just slightly above the crease. Then, blend the lid color into the crease by using the medium brown eyeshadow. For the outer corner, blend a purple eyshadow using a blending brush.

Once you've completed your lid color, add a spunky purple eyeliner. While waiting for the eyeliner to dry, apply the purple eyeshadow along the lower lash line. Complete the look with a few good coats of mascara.

I Can Haz Green Eyes Too!

When we were deciding on which kitty to adopt 5 years ago, Tremmie's round green eyes reeled us in....

This would be a pretty pointless post showing you pictures of cats and also wanting your opinion on something.

I started wearing colored contacts again after stopping for quite some time. The circle lenses that I was wearing made my eyes rather sensitive in the long run so I opted to go for a more "trusted" brand. What I'm wearing now is the Freshlook Colorblends in Gemstone Green. It's a bit bright for everyday wear but since it's only good for one month's use, I wear it everyday.

What do you think? Colored lens? Or non-colored? [examples of non-colored]

Back to cats!!

This beautiful mommy kitty chose my unit to give birth in...
She was such a sweet and trusting kitty that's also well-behaved.

She had 4 beautiful little furballs. So precious!

They only stayed for 4 days 'cause my housemate was "not comfortable" having pets in the house *groans*
I'd keep them in my room if I could!
So, now they're taking residence in a friend's house. He's keeping the mother but the kittens will most probably go up for adoption.

Some people are born with talent. I'm not one of those people. Knowing how to apply makeup didn't come naturally to me. I've read books, blog posts, forums, watched videos and most importantly, put what I've learned to practice. When you've practiced enough ie. try all sorts of different techniques and looks, you'd eventually know what works and what doesn't.

The problem is, most people would simply stick to what they know if the outcome of them trying was failure. While you can read all about the types of eyeshadows and brushes to use, there's hardly anything out there that tells you how to hold the eyeshadow brushes.

"Pffftt! How can anyone not know how to hold an eyeshadow brush?"
As easy as it appears, it's an important aspect of applying eyeshadow that I've only realized through practice. You can count on me to complicate such a seemingly simple thing :)
Trust me, it'll make quite a difference in your eyeshadow application.

Brush: Shader Brush (Stila #30)
Purpose: To pack on eyeshadow on the main lid

Hold the brush close to its head, gripping flat between the forefinger and thumb
Pretend that you're holding a pen and extend your fingers rather than bended
The forefinger basically lies along the brush handle. It's as if you're replacing your forefinger with the brush
Use short pat-and-drag strokes to pack on the color while minimizing fallout

Brush: Shader Brush (Stila #30)
Purpose: To blend out the lid color

You can use the same brush for a different purpose just by varying how you hold it
Hold the brush slightly further from the head. This reduces the pressure applied by your brush. If your brush still has eyeshadow on it, too much pressure would apply more color that you don't need. If your brush is clean, too much pressure would lift off too much color
Notice that only the forefinger is pressed onto the brush handle while all the other fingers are just supporting. This is more similar to holding a pen except the thumb is not pressed onto the handle. You can see that it's just sitting on the handle
To blend, use flicking motions towards the direction that you want the shadow to blend into

Brush: Blending Brush (MAC 217)
Purpose: To blend out harsh lines/apply crease color

Again, if your purpose is to blend or apply color of less intensity, hold the brush further from its head
The way to hold this brush is similar to the method above except my fingers are slightly more stretched out to give the brush more flexibility to swish compared to the above where I wanted my blending to be more precise
This way you can blend 'til your heart's content and the eyeshadow won't get washed out

Brush: Fluffy Crease Brush (Stila #30)
Purpose: To apply and blend dark outer corner color into crease

Now, my purpose here is to apply a dark color but with very little intensity so it appears blended at the same time. In other words, "smoking"
Hold the brush really far from the head to greatly reduce pressure and consequently the color intensity
Only the forefinger is on the brush while the thumb and other fingers act as support. This allows for more swish, which translates to blending without washing out the color
However, since the color placement is precise, the fingers should be bended to give better control
Use small circular motions, occasionally flicking into the direction that you want

Brush: Pencil Brush (Crown Italian Badger Round Crease Brush)
Purpose: To apply dark color precisely on the outer V

If you want a very intense color application and on a very precise area, hold the brush very close to the head
The way to hold it is exactly how you would hold a pen
Your brush will have no room to swish and you'll be applying greater pressure with the utmost control. You can also rest your fingers on your cheek for even more control
Use small, tight strokes

To summarize --

Hold your brush nearer to the head to apply more pressure and further from the head for less pressure. More pressure means the color will be more intense and vice versa
The more fingers pressing onto the brush means less space for the brush head to swish around. More fingers = more precise. Less fingers = more blendy
Bending your fingers gives you more control over the area that you want to apply eyeshadow on

Additional Application Tips

If eyeshadow looks funny on you, consider the angle of where your eyeshadow should end on the outer corner and also at the crease.

The outer corner angle to look out for is basically the continuation upwards from your lower lash line. It's the same angle that your winged-liner should be on. Going off from this angle can make your eyes appear droopy

The shape of your eyeshadow in the crease should be consistent with the slant of your eyebrows. If your eyebrows are not U-shaped, your eyeshadow shouldn't be as well

When you practice enough, holding the brushes properly will eventually come naturally to you. Nevertheless, I really hope this post was helpful even if just to check if you've been holding your brushes right. If you haven't, give the above methods a try and see if it makes a difference.

Eczema: Makeup and Other Ramblings

In a previous post about my Daily Makeup Staples, I got a comment asking me to share on makeup products that I would use when eczema strikes.

Logic tells us that when your skin is irritated, don't mess with it further especially with makeup. Unless my plan is to hide at home or be covered with a paper bag. It's awful enough that the world has to see my dry, flaky, reddened skin and then I have to show them my face sans makeup... In many situations, not wearing makeup at all is unacceptable. At least for those who wear makeup daily.

So, what to do?
Read on for my makeup tips during an eczema flare as well as some related ramblings.

Step 1: Calm the Skin

To soothe my itching skin and smooth out the flakiness, I'd reach for my Monistat Chafing Relief Powder-Gel. I bought it as a foundation primer (dupe for Smashbox Photo Finish Primer) though it's really a product that relieves chafed and irritated skin for sensitive areas ie. inner thighs, bikini are, breasts and underarms. On the face, it works like a charm to soothe the irritation and smooth out my complexion.

Foundations are typically drying so I avoid them when I have an outbreak. Instead, I go for my Madara Tinting Fluid which gives a very light coverage and doesn't worsen irritated skin. To set, I'd use a light dusting of mineral powder foundation.

Step 2: Bring Out the Eyes

If the rash is mostly concentrated on your cheeks or forehead, divert attention away from the skin and to the eyes. I sometimes get flakiness on my eyelids as well. What I like to do is apply a colored eyeliner, define my lower lash line and apply substantial amount of mascara.

Don't forget the eyebrows! If you have them really well-groomed, they're gonna frame your eye makeup and make your eyes stand out better.

Step 3: Pout and Blush

I dislike using blush or lip color when I have eczema because the flakiness and bumpiness would just make the application look very uneven. If you really need to have color on your lips and cheeks, you can go for tinted lip balms and cream/liquid blush. Those products would reduce the appearance of flakiness and blotchiness.

Remember, you're not doomed to not wear makeup just because you have Eczema!

"Hi there, I am from the Philippines. I fear that I have Eczema on my lips. I suspect that sudden change of temperature triggers my allergy on my lips. Would that be possible. I haven't checked it yet from a derma doc but I am afraid I have it with all the symptoms and exact pictures. It's very dry and itchy. Like I wanna lick it all the time to make it wet. First, I will suffer itchy lips, then very red lips then the next morning, its like covered by a plastic skin,kinda.. Like I can't open my mouth very well. Not comfortable to talk. I can't think of any allergy like food or soap because the first thing that would come to my mind when it strikes, the change of temperature like aircon, cold water or cold weather. and by the way, I started to have this like 4-5 years ago. What will I do? The doctor just gave me a lip balm but it's not helping. Thank you. Your post is very helpful."

Cafy here experiences a very similar condition to what I often have. One of the main reasons why I don't normally do lip swatches or really wear much lip color for that matter, is because of the eczema on my lips. On really bad days, my lips would crack and bleed when I stretch them eg. by smiling. I've had this condition on and off for 15 years!

Change of temperature can definitely trigger eczema. Basically a lot of things may trigger a rash; cold air, friction, dryness, sweat, stress, salt water, sun, hormonal changes etc.
Licking your lips will only make the eczema WORSE! Refrain from licking your lips whenever it feels dry. Rather, apply lip balm whenever your lips feel irritatingly chapped.
Aircon is drying to the skin, which could also trigger eczema. To prevent, keep your skin well-moisturized at all times. Hydrating with a facial spray will also make your skin feel more comfortable.
Avoid from applying lipsticks or lipglosses, especially those that contain glitter. If applying lip balm alone doesn't seem to improve your condition, you may want to consider getting a steroid treatment from the clinic. However, I personally try to not be dependent on steroid as it may cause discoloration.
Be aware of what triggers a rash whether is it a certain type of product, ingredient or food. When you recognize the allergy pattern, you'd know better how to handle those allergens and reduce the occurrences of an eczema outbreak.

Atopic Dermatitis aka Eczema is something that can occur at any point of life. It may be temporary, long term or even lifelong. Fortunately, these days there are ample of options out there to help deal with skin sensitivity. However, to keep eczema in control is much more than just applying the right products. It's also about adjusting your lifestyle and habits.

Nail Polish Noob: Glittery Idiot-proof Nails

Here's a great way to cheat if you suck at applying nail polish -- slap on the glitter!
It's a trick that I've been using for years to mask my untidy application but too much glitter can seem tacky and juvenile.

Instead, I attempted this Lilac & Gold glitter gradient.
Blabber on how I did it after the jump!

For the base color, I used two coats of this sheer lilac shade (from Color Combos) with fine gold glitter
Then, I concentrated the Anna Sui Nail Color in 802 on the tips of the nail, dragging the glitter halfway down towards the the cuticle
After that, I applied another coat of the base color over the glitter to blend
Finally, I applied top coat from The Face Shop

You simply can't go wrong with this method even though you're known to paint on streaks.

Review: Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation

Reading raving reviews of this foundation hardly ignited any yearning to buy the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation. I had my reasons:

Nearest place to get it was Singapore
Where they only carry 3 shades
It's pretty sheer
At almost RM80 after conversion, this drugstore foundation isn't cheap

And then I found reasons to finally buy it:

I was in Singapore
I surprisingly found a reasonable color match
"It's like a drugstore version of Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua", said ParisB
There was a 20% discount

What I regretted about this purchase was not buying this sooner *facepalm*

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation is formulated to give skin a "radiance boost for an even and revived complexion". I was toying between this new formulation and its predecessor, Healthy Mix Foundation. The latter supposedly gives a more matte finish and has slightly heavier coverage but after comparing for a good 15 minutes (and pestering Xin and ParisB to choose the better looking side), I eventually settled for this one, which I felt blended a tad smoother.

The foundation comes in a slim glass bottle with a clean pump. The formulation contains litchi (lychee), goji berries and pomegranates, contributing to the fruity scent of the foundation. Isn't that blob of foundation looking so beautifully smooth....?

It looks even better on the skin!
Since I've been having less skin troubles these days, I've cut down on the amount of foundation I use. I now appreciate sheer foundations! This one in particular does a fantastic job of simply making my skin tone appear more even (note the chin area) but still allowing my natural skin to come through.

The coverage is light for sure but it's sufficient for daily wear, especially since the texture is not at all heavy. I use one pump for the whole face, applied with my fingers. It blends like a dreaaammm.... Never have I used a foundation that blended this beautifully!

I know the color in the "after" picture looks slightly pale but believe me, the color matches. I use auto mode on my camera so the color tone varies between shots. The shade I'm using is #53, which matches pretty decently on my MAC NC30 skin tone.

The label claims that the foundation can hold up for 16 hours. I don't doubt that though I still had some shine to blot off by midday which is no biggie. What's some blotting for a foundation that doesn't cake, go blotchy, oxidize or sink into lines after hours and hours of wear?

Hands down, this is one of the best foundations I have ever worn <3

Naked Palette Fall Tutorial: Retro Red Carpet

In the last post, I showed you this look that I wore to the My Women Stuff Readers' Choice Awards. While the smokey eyes is "signature" to me, the red lips certainly wasn't. Nonetheless, the occasion called for it and I was game!

I'm not sure what has changed but I'm beginning to accept (and like!) how red lipstick looks on me. This tutorial features the Urban Decay Naked Palette though this look is nowhere near nude!

Keeping within the Fall theme, I used mainly the bronze shades in the palette. I wanted the eyes to look dramatic so I smoked out the outer corners, slicked on the winged liner and wore falsies

Let's Begin!

Start by prepping the lid with an eyeshadow primer. The main lid color is Smog, applied with the Stila #30 brush and brought slightly over the crease line. Wipe clean the brush and blend the eyeshadow out to diffuse it into the crease and bring up towards the brow.

Using the MAC217 brush, take Buck and blend further into the crease. Then, taking the fluffy side of the #30, buff Darkhorse onto the outer corner, bringing the color slightly into the crease.

Darken the outer V with Creep and a round crease brush. After that, apply Virgin as the highlight under the brow. Brighten up the inner lid with some Half Baked. Define the eyes with a black gel eyeliner and flick out a moderate wing.

Darkening the lower lashline helps to make the eyes appear more prominent. To get a gradient, start by applying Hustle on the entire lower lashline. Then, place Darkhorse tighter towards 3/4 of the lashline. Lastly, apply Creep on 1/4 and even tighter towards the lashline, joining towards the top line's wing. Stick on full but still natural-looking false lashes and apply mascara liberally.

Falsies Application Tips

I usually curl and apply one light coat of mascara before applying falsies. After applying, I'd curl the real and the fake together and apply more mascara. Try to avoid using waterproof mascara on false lashes if you intend on reusing your lashes.

I kept the cheeks very light with only a little bit of blush and towards the centre of the cheek. The RMK Powder Foundation EX has the "glow powder" part, which I used to highlight the cheeks. The bronzer was placed only on the hollow of the cheeks and the temples.

For the lips, I first lined it with a natural-colored lip liner because I really don't have much of a lip line. Then, I filled it in with the lipstick. No gloss.

That wasn't too difficult, was it? Comes to show that you can do more dramatic looks with your Naked Palette!

For weeks I was looking forward to the MWS Awards that finally happened on the 29th of October, 2011 at the Coffee Chemistry Cafe in Sunway Giza.

Prior to event, the readers of MyWomenStuff, nominated and voted for their favorite products and brands in 25 categories which included skin care, makeup, hair and body products.
The reveal of the winners was done live amongst the crowd of voters and fellow beauty enthusiasts. The guests were prompted to guess who the winners would be for a contest and let's just say I failed miserably!

For months or even years, I've known some of the attendees by their online handle so it was certainly great to be able to put a face to the name. Dom (of Belle Demoiselle) and I were manning the registration for the shindig where we got to greet almost everyone that came. Unfortunately, that didn't leave me with much time for mingling and picture-taking (which explains the plagiarism).

The youngest attendee was this adorable lil' guy (manufactured by Juan, our emcee for the day) who managed to sleep through all the excitement while everyone was at their feet, praying for their lucky number to be called... The lucky draw prize which included vouchers from Apronbay, Lace Petals and Poise Organic Wellness Studio, goodies from Kiehl's, Clinique and Estee Lauder, and two whoppers from Dior! Nope, I didn't win any...

Oh! And such a good reason to wear red lipstick! I don't think I've ever worn this much red lipstick in my entire life!

Even though I didn't win anything, I did not go home empty-handed! Taking It All Off At WAXXX!

Waxing has been around for ages but not until recently that it had started to garner popularity in Malaysia. Especially when it comes to removing hair from the nether regions...

Having broken through that fear of exposing my bits to a stranger, only a few apprehensions remain when it comes to waxing ie. itching, bumps & awkward growing out stage.

Lucky for me, I was in the hands of hair removal experts, WAXXX. And experts, they truly are.

Read on for my experience with WAXXX and also details on how you can score some great discounts from WAXXX!

Co-owner of WAXXX, Kelly, invited me in for a Hollywood experience along with a special treatment that got me very intrigued. Permanent hair removal, anyone? I'll elaborate on that in a bit.

Having endured weeks of consciously not exposing my underarms, the day of my appointment finally came. As I was rushing for my appointment (no surprise there), I was very pleased to get a parking the moment I arrived. You see, unlike many waxing salons, WAXXX is located in Aman Suria where parking is ample. I can understand how that can be a huge plus for those who hate going to shopping districts on a weekend!

The decor was clean and simple, with high ceilings for a bright and airy space. They have a total of 7 rooms where they offer purely hair removal services. The rooms, while spacious enough, lacked the kind of privacy that I'd prefer. As you can tell from the picture, the partition doesn't go all the way up. In other words, if the fella next door is screaming for dear life from having his scrotum waxed, I'm gonna hear it. Though it may be amusing to me, I can imagine how frightful that must be for others!

These would be your instruments of torture...
The pot on the left features the strawberry-scented hard wax for use on more delicate areas like the bikini area and underarms. The one on the right contains soft wax for use with strips, which is mostly used for larger areas.

WAXXX practices a strict NEVER DOUBLE-DIP policy by using a different spatula with every dip. On top of that, their equipments are all meticulously sterilized with hospital grade disinfectant.

The services that I experienced were the:

Hollywood Wax (ALL OFF!) + Depilar Treatment (RM116 + RM44.50)
Underarms Wax + Depilar Treatment (RM32.50 + RM12.50)

You're probably wondering what's this Depilar Treatment?
This is an alternative permanent hair removal method to IPL/Laser. Depilar essentially involves waxing and the application of the two products in black tubes you see above. Having the treatment done 12 to 24 times over the course of 6 to 12 months, the result mirrors that of IP/Laser (at least 6 treatments) minus the risk and hefty price tag.

My Experience

The session started with a brief Q&A to make sure that I'm in the right condition for a wax (eg. am I on any skin treatments, is it my first time, etc.). Kelly herself did the waxing for me and I was certainly in good hands with Kelly having years of waxing experience in Australia.

We started with the Hollywood Wax (all off you-know-where) and let's just say I've grown out quite a bit! Interestingly, unlike others salons I've been to which uses scissors for trimming, WAXXX uses an electric clipper with a detachable comb, which the customer keeps and bring back again for future trimming. Using clippers means the hair can be buzzed uniformly to the best length for waxing rather than getting a haircut for your pubes.

Kelly was cautious and regularly asked if the temperature of the wax was alright for me, which was very thoughtful. After completely removing hair from each part with the wax and tweezing, she applies the Depilar Treatment immediately for best absorption. Granted, the waxing process took longer than usual. Kelly was also very insistent on getting out every single hair even the existing ones that were too short! If she can help it, she's gonna tweeze them out!

Another added service that I appreciated was the removal of fine hair around my lower tummy area with soft wax. That way, when you're in a bikini, you're not gonna end up with smooth bikini line but a fuzzy tummy.

Hard wax and some tweezing was also used for my underams where the Depilar Treatment was applied as well.

After Waxing

Now, my biggest problem about waxing isn't the pain nor the exposure. I've basically come to terms with that. What worries me the most every time after the wax are bumps and to-the-bone itching. They seem to come hand-in-hand with getting waxed.

A few tiny bumps did appear within the next few days but they weren't the painful kind. I suppose they're inevitable and the best you can probably do is cleanse the area well and also avoid tight clothing to minimize any infection of hair follicles.

The most amazing thing about this experience is the fact that I did not itch. Not at all! It's been almost 2 weeks since I got waxed and the very fine hair is starting to grow out but I haven't itched! Believe me, I'm overjoyed! I used to itch so bad that I had to take my antihistamine pills. With the Depilar Treatment, my hair seems to be growing out slower and finer too.

Nonetheless, I don't think I'd feel comfortable being always bare down south though I don't mind the occasional strip but I would love to not have underarm hair. I'm definitely gonna follow up with the Depilar Treatment for and say goodbye once and for all to underarm hair! At least until I have any major hormonal changes that are bound to bring back the hair...

Having shared my Daily Makeup Staples, I figured I'd also share my Daily Skincare Staples!
Time and time again I've been asked to share my skincare regime. Since I shuffle through many different brands in a short period of time, it was difficult for me to firmly tell which products I'd use every day.

Well, now that my approach to skincare has changed and I actually have staples, it's finally the time to write this post!

Read on for the breakdown of products that I use daily as well as skin concerns that I've had previously and currently.

Fine! I'll admit it. I have good skin. There. I said it.

My skin is one of my greatest "assets" and I've had countless compliments over my skin *head as huge as a blimp*. Except the last time I actually admitted to having good skin when complimented, I was indirectly told to have a huge slice of humble pie. Reason being why I've since been apprehensive about accepting compliments.

However, for the purpose of this post, I'm not gonna beat around the bush and tell you I have bad skin, because I don't. Oh dear, I really really really hope I'm not jinxing my own skin *crosses fingers and toes*

Has my skin always been like this? No.
Can you get skin like mine if you followed my regime? I honestly won't know. Everyone's skin is different and how you would react to the products I've used could be different as well.

When I first started my blog back in 2008, I was already into skincare and had relatively okay skin as compared to when I was a teenager (couldn't find pics!). With the dark acne marks and dull skin almost all gone, the lingering problems that I had were breakouts, mainly on my forehead, and dry skin.

In efforts to combat the zits on my forehead, I used a lot of pimple treatment products and exfoliants to get rid of the scars. Eventually, the pimples went away and the scars faded but my skin was left badly parched. Fine lines were becoming quite apparent and many times, foundation wouldn't sit well on my skin. I would be using heavy creams and anti-aging products just so my skin wouldn't feel uncomfortably taut.

Many people expressed their envy over the absence of open pores on my skin and the that I don't get oily. The fact of it is, I have eczema which causes my skin to be very dry and flaky. On bad days, I'd get rough, itchy and inflamed patches on my skin. In order to keep my eczema eruptions at bay, I have to make sure that my skin is properly moisturized.

These days, my skin is well-behaved and it has never looked better. It's no longer as dry as it was before. I'm actually producing some oil come midday. The pimples too are quite controlled, occurring mostly during that time of the month. The only concern I have left is the discoloration (particularly my chin area), which I'm not quite sure how to deal with.

A few skincare rules that I live by:

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS remove your makeup properly! -- This is going to reduce problems with clogged pores and acne
Focus on hydration -- a well-hydrated skin simply functions so much better
Adequate exfoliation will improve texture and increase absorption of skincare
Make sunblock your best friend -- the sun creates all sorts of skin problems
Keep it simple -- using way too many types of products at one go can be stressful to your skin

Water: To wash my face with. No cleanser
Ettusais AC-Skincare Skin Version Up Extra: No clue what this is supposed to be but I use it as a daytime moisturizer
Hada Labo UV Moist Emulsion SPF 50 PA+++: I sometimes use this as a makeup base. I shuffle this with the Clarins UV Plus HP SPF40 PA+++

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Oil: Gets all my makeup off
Hada Labo AHA+BHA Cleanser: It removes any excess makeup and very gently exfoliates my skin
JuJu Aquamoist Moisture Lotion: Just splash it on to hydrate after cleansing
Clarins Hydraquench Cream: About a pea size for the whole face

You didn't expect my regime to be so simple, did you?
And note almost all of the products I use are not high-end brands...
I promise, it wasn't intentional. Purely coincidental.

Special Needs

[Pimples] Ettusais Acne Clear Spots Superior contains Salicylic Acid to disinfect and I double zap the zip with Avene Diacneal Treatment Care to exfoliate with Glycolic Acid. I continuously apply the latter after the pimple has healed to reduce scarring
[Tired/Taut Skin] This is when I'd whip out my Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate
[Eczema/Sensitive Skin] The Madara Deep Comfort Toner immediately soothes and I'd moisturize with the Madara Regenerating Night Cream

Travel

The Vichy Essentielles Emulsion and Cream follow me on my trips

MAC Fall Tutorial: Burnt Copper

Fall's a great time to whip out those earthy tones and smoke them out!
As much as I love brights, I find shades like copper, bronze and cranberry to be flattering on warmer skin tones like mine. To top it off, they're the kind of shades that are wearable from day to night.

Since I didn't hit the snooze button, I had time to do a tutorial for this look I did for work -- I shall call it Burnt Copper.

Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer

Start by priming the lids with an eyeshadow primer. Apply Gold Dusk on the lid just short of the crease line. Then, place Brash onto the crease and blend out. Use a blending brush (MAC 217) to blend Tete-a-Tint over Brash and up towards the brow. With a fluffy crease brush, smoke out the outer corner with Spiced Chocolate, bringing some color into the crease.

Darken the outer V with Signed, Sealed using a round crease brush. Define the eyes with a soft black gel eyeliner (Blitz & Glitz) and flick out to create a small wing. Clean up the blended area on the outer corner of the eye with a tissue or cotton bud. Darken the lower lash line with Spiced Chocolate and further darken the outer portion, joining up to the wing with Signed, Sealed. Complete the eye makeup by filling in the brows and applying generous coats of mascara.

This look was loosely inspired by TiffanyD. I kinda didn't intend on the outcome because I failed to realize that Brash was metallic until the moment I applied it. I improvised after that because metallic in the crease is a big NO especially on "Asian" eyes that don't have much of a deep crease.

Nail Polish Noob: Making Progress!

Guess who's the clever girl who managed to get this done all by herself without mistakes? :D
Yes, I'm mighty proud of myself since I'm a complete no0b when it comes to applying nail polish. Even getting a single color on would require a few attempts because I'd keep messing up.

Anyway, I was lurking around Sasa last weekend and I picked up their Graffiti Nail Top polish, which is basically the poor girl's OPI Shatter.

I had some help from a couple of nail polish pros though. Let me take you through how I got this done after the jump!

How It Is Done:

Apply Color Combos in CBL112 (middle) as the base color. If you have a base coat, I think you're supposed to apply that first before the base color. Add a second coat for a more opaque color
One thick layer of the Sasatinnie Graffiti Nail Top in GN101 Black
Seal and add shine with The Face Shop Nail Top Coat

Thanks to Nikki's (Askmewhats) wonderful step-by-step guide on how to apply nail polish, I managed to apply the base color fairly quickly and without too many streaks. Even on my right hand! A few particular tips that were very helpful include:

Removing excess nail polish on one side of the brush before applying
Applying 2nd coat only after the 1st coat is completely dry
Using the brush holder/cap properly (please refer to her post for pictures)

The first time I tried the shatter polish, I ended up with unsightly black crusts on my nail and upon reading Xin's (Prettybeautiful) post, I realized what I was doing wrong:

Apply one thick coat and DO NOT OVERLAP

This "nail art" is somewhat idiot-proof whereby you don't actually need to be neat but a certain degree of basic skills is still needed!

A few no0b tips from moi:

PATIENCE! Allow the first coat to dry completely before adding the 2nd coat
Don't try to skip the latter by applying one thick coat which is gonna take much longer to dry and won't last very long
When your nails are drying, try not to utilize your hands so much like opening a can drink...
Try not to sleep on your hands when you've just had your nails done less than 3 hours ago or you'll end up with hair patterns on your nails
If your base color application looks crappy, hide with shatter polish or glitter :D
Keep in mind that pastel colors are going to be harder to apply nicely as compared to metallic, sheer or glitter colors
Applying a top coat would make less-than-perfect base color application look a bit smoother
Don't apply polish with the fan blowing at you

Do you have any Nail Polish Noob Tips to share?

The Sasatinnie Graffiti Nail Top (RM14.90) dries practically upon application so you have to work fast or the polish would goop up. The polish certainly works to get the shatter effect but you'd have to give it about a minute or so to shatter completely. They carry few other colors such as white, grey, pink and red.

The Color Combos polish applies a tad sheer but the color turns out nicely when layered. Honestly, I bought it 'cause it was cheap. I think Sasa's having promo now: RM3.90, get 2nd one at RM1.

Evolution of Brows

Over and over again I've stressed the importance of having well-groomed eyebrows. In my opinion, the eyebrows can make or break a look. If I could only choose one makeup item to ever exist, it would be my Shu Uemura Hard 9 Pencil.

It took me years of trial-and-error to find the brows that I'm most comfortable with, which are the ones I have now. I can't guarantee that they won't change anymore though...

How Have Your Eyebrows Changed Over the Years?

Read on for my brow journey throughout the years and the current brows that I'm maintaining.

Left to Right:

Messy, without much of a shape. I dreaded filling in my brows and thought I looked weird
Went for eyebrow threading and ended up with super thin and rounded brows
Brows filled in according to shape without any shading. Sharpie brows!
Took awhile to grow out the brows and reshape them. Brows rather flat
Attempted to develop an arch and fill in the brows with more shading
Arch became more apparent but a tad angular
Over-arched!
More rounded arch and started to bleach eyebrows
Bringing down the front again for a more angled arch. Still filling in brows with brown
Brows trimmed short but arch a bit too inwards
Bringing the arch outwards
Rounding it out
The tail's getting thinner
Growing out the tail
Letting the brows bush up a little
Shape getting slightly more angular

17. My brows currently are kept a little bushy so that I can get away without filling in my brows when I don't have makeup on. I also fill it in just enough to enhance the shape. There's a soft arch that's not too angular and a shorter tail. They're also quite easy to maintain seeing as I haven't had my brows shaped for about a year.

Beauty Budgeting Chp. 12: Emptying the Bottles

Well, this is embarrassing. More than a year since my last Beauty Budgeting post!
~~To be honest, I'm now in a hotel and have stupidly not uploaded any pictures first so that I can blog.~~ I found a product pic so I can blog about that! Whee!

Getting back to the subject, I want to brag about how I've managed to empty out some bottles in the past few months and I'm very proud of myself!

You see, when you're a beauty enthusiast like I am, you can't help being intrigued by new products in the market, which usually results in a purchase because that cleanser looked "interesting" or that scrub is "popular".

The Reality: Your bathroom counter holds so much shampoo that you're starting to use it to wash your toilet (I've used a facial cleanser to wash underwear before which is just as bad) and you have enough facial cream/lotion to moisturize a whale.

Not only are we letting products go to waste simply because we've gotten bored of them, we are spending unnecessarily on products that we truly don't need. Yes, I get that I don't need another blusher or eyeshadow... Can't you just let me have my moment? At least I'm making progress...

Hada Labo AHA+BHA Cleanser
I use this every single day and am now on my 2nd tube. Since using this cleanser, I haven't been too tempted to try any other cleansers.

Cellnique Body Plush Emulsion Wash
Although it wasn't fantastic but I was determined to use this up before I could even think of buying any new body wash. Goodness knows I have loads of body wash simply from gifts. So now I'm attempting to use them all up whether or not they're expensive (couldn't bring myself to use L'Occitane daily!) or I don't fancy the scent.

Ettusais AC-Skincare Skin Version Up Extra
I use this every morning so it's not at all difficult to finish this up in less than a year. A refill bottle is available, which I've bought but I'm still scraping the bottom of the bottle.

C. Michael Tricologica Hairomatherapy Scalp Improvement Shampoo
This shampoo is wonderful especially when my scalp's flaky and I've just run out of it. Although I'm very keen on replenishing, I'm trying to use up the rest of the shampoos that I still have.

Maybelline Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara
Using up a mascara isn't easy because they dry out before you can achieve that. This one hasn't dried out completely yet but I've used it so much that the battery has run out! AND I haven't bought a new mascara since... a pretty long time!

Hada Labo Super Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizing Lotion
This one ran out quite a long time ago but though I loved it, I was too annoyed by the patting so I'm using a different brand now. Oh, I've recycled the bottle :) *pats self*

Madara Deep Comfort Toner
I love love love this toner and I'm trying to not let it run out! I still have 2 bottles of toner to go through before I'd allow myself to buy a new one and I can't bear to live without the Madara DCT so I'm using this very sparingly. Mostly when my skin's feeling very sensitive.

Now to do the same when it comes my makeup... Mission impossible!
