SketchUp Tutorial | UV Mapping with SketchUV and Blender

2013-05-02T11:13:00.004-07:00

Here's a quick tutorial I did awhile back....

...take .06...

Another upload on SketchUcation forums that can be grabbed here

Leather Sofa

...Sofa so good...

I recently uploaded a fully mapped Leather Sofa on SketchUcation so go grab your free model ;)

SplitUp Plugin

2012-01-08T15:36:00.000-08:00

...Splitup Plugin for SketchUp...

Here's a plugin called SplitUp that divides selected face/s with or without an opening. It's primarily for priming meshes for displacement in render applications.

Special thanks to TIG for the code. You can download it here

Anchor Points for Google SketchUp

2011-12-06T05:13:00.001-08:00

...anchors away...

Here's a new plugin called Anchor Points that allows you to place construction points at a Group or Components bounding box corners. Make places objects in your scene a little easier. All construction points are placed on a Layer named Anchor Points so it's easy to toggle them off.

It's in SketchUp's new .rbz format so you'll need the latest version of SketchUp ;)

Dirty Surgery

...what do you saw...

Here's a simple scene in LightUp. All bump mapping and reflections were handled by LightUp's rendering engine. It's IrrCache components are unbelievably good!

Marie Antoinette Cabinet

...marie marie quite boring...

Here's a very simple scene of a Marie Antoinette Cabinet. Lighting was HDRI only with the model itself residing in a simple studio.

Thea again with some noise removal in Neat Image.

Wom Wom

...apollo jeez...

Followed a tutorial on clouds for Photoshop awhile back so today I used it as a background for this.

Thea again with some help from UV LayOut ;)

UV Mapping in SketchUp

2011-10-28T14:59:00.000-07:00

...some workflow with SketchUp...

UV Mapping a bedspread with UV LayOut Pro 2.

...not another Sponza Atrium...

2011-10-11T08:00:00.000-07:00

...A-3-Room...

Having never really been exposed to Marko Dabrovic's Sponza Atrium it was a great learning experience to get my hands on this superb model. It ended up 137mb in size when I eventually got it to open in SketchUp. But some remapping and editing later this was the result. Still some tweaks to make but so far so hood ;)

Oooh...Cha, Cha, Chair

2011-10-08T14:22:00.000-07:00

...Musical Chairs = Cymbalism...

With Ireland's exit from the Rugby World Cup today it feels apt that this render test gets an airing. Another Thea scene with some simple studio lighting. I liked the result especially the harshness of the white chair.

Only the logo was added in CS5, the rest was raw Thea output. Could've done with a few more passes.

Three heads are better than none...

Pete Stoppel, aka Solo, recently shared an exquisite Thea Metal Material Pack for licenced users of Thea Render. The materials themselves cover a wide range of metals from Aged Bronze to Brushed Aluminium.

Itching to test them out I grabbed a Skull from archive3d.net and mapped with UV LayOut Pro 2. A simple HDR studio for the lighting and some tweaking to the image in CS5 and NeatImage.

Light Arcs Redux

2011-10-03T10:18:00.000-07:00

...and then there was light, light, light...

Revisited after some enlightening advice from a Thea power user, Notareal, who shared a Neon Light texture to help improve this scenes lighting.

Retro Paint Tins in Thea

Will it be worse than watching paint dry?

So, I've entered the blogosphere to basically test the new Blogger feature and share my musings. So far so hood. I like the Dynamic Theme alot.

As for the image....it's a SketchUp model rendered in Thea with a studio HDRI on a crappy dual core HP laptop.
