Rainy days are lazy days. All I want to do is lay around and listen to music. Fortunately for us, there is a plethora of new music officially dropping today, with J. Cole’s “Born Sinner”, Kanye’s “Yeezus” and Mac Miller’s “Watching Movies with the Sound Off.” The track featured above, Bound 2, is the only song I really love off “Yeezus”. It sounds similar to the Kanye of old, which is uncommon for the rest of the album.

Rant time.

Listen, I have been a fan of Kanye from the very beginning. “College Dropout” is one of my all time favorites. I know Kanye is a weird, egomaniacal nutcase, but he made it work on those early albums. There is no way around it. “Yeezus” is an incredibly different album. But different doesn’t always mean better. On a 10 song album, there are only 5 tracks I can truly listen to and I only really enjoy 4. .400 is great in baseball, but not here. The beats are stripped down and simplistic for the most part. The lyrics are fine, but I feel like Kanye is trying too hard to make a point, yet I’m not sure he even knows what that point is. Many of you will tell me that “I just don’t get the album and I don’t understand his genius,” but that’s a bunch of bullshit. This is a true Emperor’s New Clothes type scenario, and I’m sure many of you will love this album because it’s put out by Kanye. But this is not the Kanye we all fell in love with. The theme with Kanye has become apparent. He will put out an album for himself, then an album for the studio. I forgave him for 808′s because he put out “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” afterward and totally redeemed himself. Hopefully he does the same with his next album after “Yeezus”.

Side note. It would be really funny if it turned out Kanye was purposefully putting out shitty music just to see if it still got a positive reaction from the critics and the public. Such a Kanye Move. Man, South Park was so spot on.

Anyways, for anyone struggling to get through this rainy Tuesday, plug in the headphones and kick back. Always works for me.

Well, this is awkward. Considering The Heat are down 3-2, and LeBron has only won one championship, this is a bold move by Nike/LeBron here. I’m on record saying The Heat will win, but my prediction isn’t looking too hot. Unless LeBron and Miami know how to beat sorcery, I like the Spurs chances.

There had been rumblings for some time that Chappelle has been working on new material. Making surprise appearances at comedy clubs where cameras aren’t allowed. Rumors of potential shows and movies. But the day has finally come. The funniest man on the planet is back. After leaving $50 million on the table before season 3 of Chappelle Show almost 10 years ago, Dave Chappelle will be headlining a tour for Funny or Die and I couldn’t be happier. No one really knows the truth to why he walked away from the show and stand-up in general, but I’m damn sure it had nothing to do with lack of material. When the tour comes to Jersey in September, I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure I’m there. In the wise words of Chappelle, sometimes you gotta race.

When in doubt, reference job creation or world peace, flash those pearly whites, stick your chest out, and await applause. Works every time. Believe me. I’m kind of an expert on these things. Huffington Post-Jay-Z surprised fans on Sunday evening when he made the announcement that he will be releasing a new album called “Magna Carta Holy Grail” on July 4. With weeks until the release of “Magna Carta Holy Grail,” the news of the album came as a surprise. Jay-Z made the announcement in a video which reportedly aired during the NBA finals and was posted to the rapper’s website, Life + Times.

What the fuck just happened? I blacked out after I heard Hov say “Pretty much, the album is about…” Leave it to Jay-Z to wait 3 weeks before the album is dropping to even let anyone know it exists. What a kick in the dick to Kanye and J. Cole though. Truly an alpha male move in the mentor-mentee relationship. Two days before the official release of “Yeezus” and “Born Sinner” and now all anyone in the music industry is talking about is “Magna Carta Holy Grail” dropping July 4th. Jay must have thought Kanye and J. Cole were getting too much press, had to knock them down a peg. Anyways, I couldn’t be more excited for this album. As a massive Jay-Z fan, I’m obviously biased. I don’t care if it was for commercial purposes only, you put Rick Rubin, Pharrell Williams, Timbaland and Swizz Beatz in one room, you’re gonna have a sick album.
