Ryan Alan Ortin 9/15/1983 - 5/21/2011 It's already been a year since Ryan passed away. All the homies are getting together at Oak Creek skatepark for a bbq later today and then tonight we'll all meet up at Monkey Bar. Born To Roll on the big screen, a raffle to raise money for Milwaukee skatepark projects and plenty of friends to reminisce with so come on through.

The Good Wood Exhibit, a fundraising art auction which will close in Detroit, Michigan on May 26, 2012, features 100 skateboards created by a who’s who of artists from the skateboarding world and the contemporary art scenes in Detroit and beyond. 100% of the Good Wood proceeds go directly to fund building of a do-it-yourself style skateboard park in Detroit named RideIt Sculpture Park. Emerica’s Wild in the Streets will be held June 21, in Detroit, also benefiting RideIt Sculpture Park.

Author/illustrator Maurice Sendak died yesterday at age 83. NYTimes obit. One of my favorite glimpses of Maurice's humor was his appearance on the Colbert Report. Definitely a great man. Check it here

RideMKE is a non profit organization that was created in the interest of public skateparks for Milwaukee County. At this stage it is a DIY initiative working with the county to create concrete skateparks for the people by the people. Check the blog here

I think a lot of this has gone under the radar. Cinematographer Aaron Chilen and photographer Sam McGuire organized a skate trip with a crew of homies that they funded through Kickstarter. Today is the day that all those dudes are rolling through Milwaukee. Bill and I kicked down the pledge to have them come through for a stop at Cream City. It all jumps off at 6pm.

Faythe takes so many photos that I tend to just sit back and enjoy while she captures the moments.
