So that single 2 day break in rain and clouds a week ago yielded some good Venus and Saturn images and also this great view of Ceres.

I had a hard time finding some good ephemeris data for angular size so calculated it myself as follows:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angular_diameter

δ = d / D, where δ is the angular size, d is visual diameter and D is the distance to the object.

So using the WRONG units I get:

1.64AU distance to Ceres and 950km diameter of Ceres gives 0.798".

I hope to not have overexposed the object which would have caused bloat or bloom in the data. I stretched in post processing and resized to 200%

Enjoy!

Mike

Settings:

-File Type: PIC

3.Caricate ogni canale in Iris
- Aggiustate i livelli via thresholds
-Selezionate mono

-Sistemate leggermente i waveleght
Processing-->wavelet...
-Settate i canali come:
Rosso: R7 (red)
Verde: G7 (green)
Blue: B7 (blu)
-Apply

Parte I: introduzione
versione widescreen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNdst4pfPzY
versione HD (1280x768) vimeo: http://vimeo.com/2385460

versione widescreen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtnocoWH9jM
versione HD (1280x768) vimeo: Non disponibile

Parte III: opzioni post processo
versione widescreen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtnocoWH9jM
versione HD (1280x768) vimeo: Non disponibile

file -->settings:

-File Type : PIC

-Script Path → “vostra cartella” (ad esempio C:\astronomy\permanent\scripts\iris\)

MS Windows Addendum:
            Batch .avi to .bmp conversion:
http://www.mediafire.com/?2jmfkmxmnxe
<!--

Here's the translation in italian of the Michael A. Philips that he posted here: http://skylux.blogspot.com/2008/12/michael-phillips-howto-planetary.html Thanks to Mike to let me translate and publish it here!! 1. Introduzione 1. 4.OK! Video Tutorials: Video Tutorials:Iris Introduction (Part 1) Iris RGB combine options (Part 2) Iris Post Processing (Part 3) 2. Aquisizione Il mio equipaggiamento consiste di 1. Celestron C8i SE (tubo arancione) 2.Ubuntu 8.04 Linux e coriander (per camere firewire) 3.DMK 21AF04 (Firewire) 4. Televue 2.5x PowerMate barlow 5. Filtri Astronomik LRGB 6.

<feedburner:origEnclosureLink>http://images.maphilli14.multiply.com/image/2/photos/31/1200x1200/12/PlanetaryProcessingRoutine-v7-20081128-html-m331a548f.png?et=nDsOOsMqd3g7WdOzV%2C33yQ&nmid=140544957</feedburner:origEnclosureLink>

Moon with Vixen VMC 100l

Here's the last image i've taken this evening at about 18 p.m. from my home.
The not good seeing doesn't let me to obtain good results with the barlow..
Maybe next time I'll do better.

The datas ara in the pictures.

<!--

This version, number seven, is one that I jazzed up with a blog entry and some cool video tutorials that I'm excited to share with you.

Please have a look and tell me what you think! Feel free to comment on the blog for others to see!

Thanks to all who've taught me tips and tricks that have allowed me to get to where I am at.

Edit: i just notice that the peltier could also fit inside the meade dsi box.
But in this way I'd have to put the dsi back in contact with hot surface of the peltier and make a cold finger to ccd.
Putting the back to hot side the case would get hot.
So ccd cold and hot case..
What do you think?
Ideas?suggestions?
thanks

Quale soluzione?

:( sempre più indeciso man mano che i lavori van avanti...
<!--
