Changes to prices of calls to some numbers in Algeria and Congo

On the 13th December, we will increase the price of calls to mobiles in Algeria to €0.254 per minute (€0.292 per minute including VAT where appropriate) and the price of calls to landlines in Congo to €0.287 per minute (€0.330 per minute including VAT where appropriate).

Changes to available payment methods in Argentina

During this time, you may not be able to use credit cards to pay for Skype Credit, subscriptions or online numbers.

[RESOLVED] Problems with calls to Sao Paulo and Rio

Some of you may be having problems making calls to Sao Paulo and Rio – if you have a subscription which includes these cities, you may be charged for calls to certain numbers which would normally be included in your subscription.

Changes to prices for calls to landlines in Central Africa and El Salvador

On the 1st November, we will increase the price of calls to landlines in Central Africa to €0.306 per minute (€0.352 per minute including VAT where appropriate) and the price of calls to landlines in El Salvador to €0.165 per minute (€0.190 per minute including VAT where appropriate).

Unexpected 'balance expired' emails

Unfortunately, our planned system maintenance has caused a few hiccups in our email servers.

Some of you who don’t have any Skype Credit may have received emails saying that your credit has expired. In fact, you didn’t have any credit at all, so there was none to expire – we’re sorry to rub it in.

A tiny minority of you may have just bought Skype Credit, and then received an email saying that it had expired. We’re sorry about this, and are working as fast as we can to reinstate the credit. Please bear with us.

Delays to confirmation emails

Update, 1st October, 0945 UTC: Password reset emails may also be delayed. Please sit tight – they’ll arrive within an hour or two.

If you make a purchase at Skype, e.g. to buy Skype Credit or a subscription, we send you an email to confirm your purchase.

Due to our planned system maintenance, these emails are being delayed by up to 5 hours. To check the status of a purchase, please visit your purchase history on our website instead. (You’ll be asked to sign in first.)

Possible payment delays for the next few hours

Update, 0900 UTC: Credit card payments may still be affected, but all other payments should now be processed normally.

Following our problems earlier today, there’s a bit of a queue in our payment system. If you’re buying Skype Credit or a subscription, it may take up to an hour for your payments to be processed, but rest assured that they’ll be dealt with as soon as possible. We expect the wait time to go down quickly as our payment robots catch up.

Update, 0825 UTC: Problems fixed; services recovering now.

Update, 0800 UTC: If you’re signed in to Skype, you can continue to make Skype-to-Skype calls, send and receive IMs and transfer files as normal.

Our sincere apologies — we’re having some system problems which mean that calls to landlines and mobiles, sending SMSs and incoming calls to your Skype online number, may not work as expected.

You may also have trouble signing in to Skype both in the software and on the website.

Our teams are working as fast as they can to sort things out. I’ll update this post as soon as I have more news.

If you click on the Forgotten your email address? link on the web page, then you are taken into a troubleshooting process, which currently does not allow you to reach the relevant support form to let us know - it goes around in circles.

Things are now back to normal – if you see any error messages when you try to buy an online number in Germany, please make sure you have entered all of your details correctly.

Update (4 September 2009, 1155 GMT): The password system has been fixed. If you tried to reset your password, but haven’t received an email yet, you should get one in the next few hours.

However, the reset code you receive may now have expired – please try the code provided in the most recent email you receive, and if that doesn’t work, head over here and try again.

Unfortunately our password system is having a few hiccups – if you’ve forgotten your password, there may be some delays before you’re able to reset it.
