Responsive web design is the new standard approach to building a website in this new mobile and tablet era we live in today.

Building your site to be “Responsive” means that you craft your code to allow for optimal viewing across multiple platforms and devices such as the iPhone and iPad, Android and many more.

A site that is Responsive uses CSS3 Media Queries to achieve responsiveness, which means that all the styling can stay inside your main CSS stylesheet allowing for easy access to your style and ease of changing/modifying your designs colors, backgrounds, gradients and more.

Some of the elements of responsive web design include,

CSS3 Media Queries ,
that allow for the website to use different CSS3 style rules based on the device it is being viewed on.

Responsive Gris Systems ,
such as The Skeleton Grid System which allow for you to structure your site in a 960 grid like fashion, while keeping your site mobile and tablet friendly.

Fluid Grid systems ,
that allow for page resizing to be done in percentages, or Ems , rather than using absolute units like pixels or points.

Responsive web design is a MUST in todays internet age, so before you begin building your next website make sure you build it responsive.

Skytemple has been building responsive websites for the last year and we’ve had a whole lot of fun doing it.
Heres a little peek at some of our Responsive Web Design work in case you are considering using Skytemple for your next project.

We at Skytemple use Basecamp for all of our projects. This month we take a look at an oft asked question about Basecamp Projects.

“Can I create sub-projects in Basecamp?”

The short answer is, no. Basecamp does not allow for the creation of sub-projects within projects. However, there is a simple and easy work-around to this which allows for the grouping of different sets of projects together. In the following video tutorial, 37signals demonstrates just how to get this process started. The full tutorial can be found here.

To Err Is Human

Basecamp is a simple and convenient way to coordinate projects between multiple independent agents and clients over a large geographic area. We at Skytemple use Basecamp for all of our projects.

Last month we took a look at how easy it was to set up a new project in the Calendar, as well as where to find more information about basic Basecamp set up.

In this second installment of Basecamp Orientation Videos (straight from 37signals) we take a look at a Basecamp failsafe, Restoring Deleted Data.

We all know what a nightmare it can be to loose an entire project to a few mistaken clicks. As Basecamp staff says, “These things happen, and they definitely used to ruin your day.” Thankfully, when it comes to your projects in Basecamp, “you’ll be able to restore any data that was deleted within the last 30 days.”

The below video shows exactly what to do in Basecamp when what you really need is a Flux Capacitor.

An Introduction to Basecamp

Basecamp is an easy and convenient way to coordinate large projects with many independent agents over vast geographical distances. This makes it perfect for web design.

We here at Skytemple have used Basecamp for years to coordinate with our clients and design team. So, when we found this video series helping to explain some of the basics we were pretty excited.

The series comes to us directly from the Basecamp staff who can answer even more questions here.

This first segment covers how the Calendar works in Basecamp.

The Calendar is a powerful tool that allows not only bulletin board style scheduling, but also features the ability to push entire projects forward or backwards in time as milestones are reached or passed.

Skytemple Design begins construction on a gigantic orbiting Sky Temple and a fleet of Skytemple Space Cruisers.

Skytemple Design is proud to announce our latest project,

SKYTEMPLE SPACE DIVISION

Until now, Skytemple Space Division has been kept top secret. Skytemple staff have been legally bound to nondisclosure agreements. We have lived the last year in the shadows while secretly preparing to lead the way into the final frontier for web design companies.

Finally, our story can be told.

All the way back in 2011 a strange discussion erupted at one of our weekly meetings concerning the news of actor Ashton Kutcher’s recent purchase of a $200,000 ticket aboard one of Virgin Galactic’s new sub-orbital space ships.

Richard Branson, the billionaire head of the Virgin Group claims to have already sold 500 tickets aboard Virgin Galactic’s as-yet launched sub-orbital space fleet.

This got us wondering: why doesn’t Skytemple have a Galactic Space Fleet? We couldn’t come up with an answer.

So after months of soul-searching, we started construction on our proposed Orbiting Sky Temple and our fleet of Skytemple Space Cruisers.

It is thanks to these efforts that we are able to offer our celebrated services in a whole new way.

Websites, in SPACE!

The orbiting Sky Temple hosts three shuttle docks and an impressive array of anti-drone space missiles. Inside its fifty-thousand square foot interior, it boasts impressive living quarters including 70 bathrooms, a full space tennis court, a zero g sauna, and a staff of over three hundred robots. It is 4G and Space Wi-Fi integrated.

Each of the six Skytemple Space Cruisers is staffed by a crew of seven pilots, three engineers, and four attendants. In-flight meals are prepared by master space-chefs and include ‘Astronaut’ versions of all your favorite foods. Freeze-dried ice cream, freeze-dried open faced portable mushroom paninis and freeze-dried foie gras are just a sampling of the vast menu.

I know what you’re wondering. Will Skytemple still make great websites and offer expert consultation for all of my marketing needs? Of course. We will simply be doing it from our gigantic orbiting Sky Temple from now on.

Check back often for future news and information about how you can apply to live in the orbiting Sky Temple!
