Spring Has Finally Arrived

The snow is melting and the temperatures are staying above freezing.

For those of you who don't know, Danna and I sold Skyview last summer. The new owners, Chris and Rick are doing a great job and I believe most snow updates are done on Facebook. Thought I should jump in and give an update on the great conditions. More fresh snow last night for the 3rd day in a row. A very good base on all the trails with fresh snow on top and lots of grooming, that all equals great trails, I would give them a 9.5!! Best riding we have seen in a few years and it's only getting better. Some forecasters calling for another 6-12 Sunday and Monday with LES on the back side. Hope to see ya on the trails! Adam

Good morning!! Picked up a few more inches of lite snow over the past few days. Groomers are out across the area but trails are thin. More snow in PI than Minocqua and more snow as you head north out of PI. Forest road will be in good shape but be careful on lakes, some good others need a few more cold nights before ice is safe. Bottom line is you can ride and if you head north trails should get better. Adam

Well it looks like Adam and I are on the same thought plan, All day yesterday I KEPT PRAYING the snow was here to stay And yes it is not as much as we would love to see but it is all on its way. Thank you very much Adam for helping skyview with the the blog. I have wanted to blog as much as possible but when you are spending 22 of your 24hours doing the snow dance its hard to post hahaha Chris Leasavage from LEASAVAGE PLUMBING says it is the best base of snow we have had in a long time. And as Adam has reported the ice fishing is good

Well, lite snow falling all day with a safe 4-6 inch pick up, not the big totals southern Wisconsin saw. As winds switch to the north, they are forecasting another 6 inches tonight but I'm guessing or praying for 3-4. I've been ice fishing for the past two weeks but that has been on smaller lakes. Big PI just froze over the other day. Skiing is in full swing and it now looks like winter. FYI, I'll be helping out with reports for the winter. See ya at Skyview! Adam

It's hard to believe but trails are in good shape right now and it is snowing very hard outside. Trail should hold up all day tomorrow temperatures are not forecasted to get very warm. I expect rails to hold up most the day on saturday but by saturday afternoon we could see temperatures in the upper forty's. By sunday afternoon we might be looking at the end of the snowmobiling season. It's just my best guess. Adam

After very warm and rainy day yesterday temperatures finally cooled off last night. On the back side of the cold front we did pick up wonder to inches of wet snow. As winds come out of the north tonight and temperatures cool off even more we are forecasted for another to inches. Temps should remain cool for tomorrow but warming up big time on saturday afternoon and sunday. This looks like it will for sure be the last weekend of riding with some thin areas and icy corners. Quick update.. very warm yesterday and warm temperatures all last night... it has been raining for the last 2 hours but forecasted to turn to snow this afternoon. Temperature should be in the teens tonight which will help big time. Trails are not shot yet but very sloppy today. I will have a better idea of weekend conditions by tomorrow morning I will update early. Adam

Lots of riders in the area this weekend and with all the fresh snow, trails get bumped up every afternoon but all in all it was a great weekend for riding. Very cold last night and with the trails now getting packed down by groomers and traffic we have the best trails of the year right now. They should remain in great shape for the next few days but we will have to keep an eye on wednesdays temperatures. I do think will at least get 1 more weekend of riding out of this winter. We still have 5 rooms available this week and we are still running a midweek special. Adam

Monster storm hitting us this morning! Over a foot of snow already in snow rates are 1 to 2 inches per hour And it looks like it will be snowing for a while. Some reports in with already 18 inches in other areas. I'll update later on today. Adam

Groomers where out again last night and trails are in great shape today! The icing on the cake is a major winter storm forecasted to gear up this afternoon and all day tomorrow! Local forecast is calling for the largest storm of the year bringing totals from 8 to 12 n even more inches of snow to some locations. This upcoming weekend should be the best weekend of the year for riding so far. Adam

We now could use some more snow, some riders coming through last night said there are spots are getting larger. It started snowing lightly early this morning and has picked up in intensity as the day has gone on. Looks like winter might try and make a comeback late in the season. We are in for snow almost everyday through the weekend and possible big storm saturday night into sunday. Just in the nick of time we might be back in business. Adam

No melting over the last 2 days as a matter fact little bit of fresh snow each morning. Not much change in the trails over the last couple days riders are reporting some good and some not so good but for the most part all are flat with very few bare spots but lots of icy corners. Two riders reported putting on 300 miles without having to go to michigan but obviously the further north you go the better the snow is. A little worried about the sun today but still temperatures are cool here this morning. Better late than never but looks like big changes in the weather starting late next week possible big storm next weekend with lots of lake effect snow we will just have to wait and see. Adam

Yesterday trails were flat can I see with a few bare spots and groomers have been out across from northwoods. I've been surprised on how many riders have been in the area over the last few days. Trails are better the farther north you go. We did pick up 3 to 4 inches of snow last night and that will help big time in Presque Isle, less the farther south you go. Still snowing when I left my house this morning it should snow for most of the day today. This was all LES snow so I'm guessing they got a bunch more just to the north of us.Adam

I can't believe the number of people still riding. Most of our system is covered with brownish snow and ice with a few bare spots. Everything is still flat in our bases in tact all we would need is a few inches of snow. Riders last night reporting some very good trails up north still but you have to pick and choose which direction to go. The forecast looks cold with a few chances of snow but no big storms for the next 5 yr 6 days. Some possible lake effect snow is coming in on thursday and saturday. Adam

Temperatures were in the lower 40's on tuesday with some melting taking place obviously. Clouds held up most the day today with basically no melting taking place on the trails. My best guess is areas were the sun can hit will be thin by the weekend areas were the sun does not get to will be in good shape. I don't think areas south of us will hold up through the weekend but the U.P. should remain in good shape. Adam

We picked up 1 to 2 inches of fresh snow last night not much to report but it every little bit helps. Trails across in northwoods were in good shape today no melting took place today. Tomorrow looks to be the warmest day of the week with temperatures approaching mid to upper thirty's but hopefully clouds will be around all day. The forecast for tomorrow afternoon is for freezing drizzle in light snow. Not much in the way of snow for the rest of the week and temperatures will be flirting with a freezing mark. If the forecast holds true my best guess is trails will be fine for the weekend. Adam

Trails across in northwoods are in good shape today and should remain in good shape throughout the weekend. The sun is out this morning and temperatures should rise into the lower thirty's. I would be worried about some melting taking place but clouds are forecasted to take over the area this afternoon with two inches of snow falling tonight. Temperatures will then cool off for the rest of the weekend. Adam

We picked up 46 inches of nice dense snow yesterday with maybe double that in the minocqua area. Another 2 to 3 inches fell last nite in the presque isle area and it was still snowing when I left the house this morning. Should be a great week and weekend of riding coming up. Adam
