Visual / Graphic Design Internship, Summer '09

The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of traditional and digital design composition. Proficiency in layer-based digital design is necessary, and the ability to design and animate w/ flash is a big plus. The ability to program is great, but not required. We are looking for students that are eager to learn and will contribute to the team with every opportunity given. Our internships are unpaid and often used for college credits.

Software you’ll be using:

Photoshop
Illustrator
Flash
Dreamweaver

Duties may include but not limited to:

Design for print/web/broadcast
Photo editing and color correcting
RotoScoping
Pre-production/production work
Assistance on style guides, photoboards, storyboards
Project research
Logging and capturing images and or video sequences

Fashion Internship, Summer '09

Ideal Candidate will be a current student studying fashion design or fashion marketing. We are seeking someone who is eager and talented, and will be our right hand in creating a new fashion brand, and the entire introductory line.

This job will provide you with invaluable hands-on experience. There will be unlimited room to contribute, and the possibility of having your ideas become reality is most-definitely achievable.

Qualifications:

Availability 2+ days per week
Can sketch and flat draw
Knowledgeable in Photoshop and Illustrator
Experience with prints/ screen printing a plus

Slamm honored with 2nd American Design Award

We have been honored for a second time by the American Design Awards, this time for our work on the Flyers’ Wives Fight for Lives Carnival website. The Carnival began as a fundraiser for leukemia, in honor of the former Flyer’s defenseman Barry Ashbee. Since its commencement in 1977, the Carnival has raised over $20 million for charities in the Delaware Valley. All of Slamm is honored to partner with such a generous organization.

We thank the Flyers’ Wives and their families, along with the ComcastSpectacor Foundation for their continued dedication to support more than 100 organizations in the Greater Philadelphia Region.

Slamm to launch phase II of HealthyHumans.com

Much research and dedication has been put into the Alpha/Beta launch of the Healthy Humans website. Initially built within Liferay’s open source technology, Slamm had partnered with the Healthy Humans development team to construct the site. Through both the creation of the site and the practices of Integrative Medicine that it preaches, Healthy Humans has been a learning experience for us unlike any other.

Phase II of the Healthy Humans site will address needed improvements to the Interactive Dialogue incorporated within the site. In doing so, Slamm has assumed the full responsibility of recreating the framework of HealthyHumans.com along with the new Interactive Dialogue front and back end. The Interactive Dialogue allows users (patients) to chart their progress as they work with the Healthy Humans team to actively improve their health. As Healthy Humans continues to expand globally, Slamm has been asked to remain an integral part of growth and development, advising on all creative and IT elements.

Marketing Internship, Spring '09

Ideal Candidate will be a college student studying Marketing, Communications, or related field. An interest in web design and development or print design is not required. However, a certain level of creativity and the desire to participate in ongoing project discussions is extremely encouraged.

Qualifications:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to work in a team atmosphere and independently

Duties may include but not limited to:

Provide administrative support for all marketing and business development initiatives
Assist and collaborate on projects and presentations and other sales/marketing material
Research/Contact vendor products and services
Draft case studies, successes and press releases
Compile and analyzes data for projects
Research/Attend networking events
Other duties as needed that are required to meet goals of this position and those of the overall team

Goldline Research Award

Recently, we were honored to be chosen as candidates for Goldline Research’s Ten Most Dependable™ Web designers of the Northeast for 2008. Out of over 1,000 web designers considered for the list, which were then narrowed down, interviewed and evaluated, we were chosen among the top ten in the industry. The article was published in the June 1^st issue of Entrepreneur Magazine. We are still young company, and steadfast in our attempts to make a great name and develop a solid reputation for ourselves. Nevertheless, in recognizing that, it’s extremely rewarding to see that our dedication to our business and our commitment to our clients is apparent.

A visit to Preston and Steve's Studio

So, I didn’t attend Preston & Steve’s new studio opening party. However, our 3 Principals were invited to go, and check out the new digs we would be showing off in the launch of Preston & Steve’s fresh website, hitting the internet mid-summer. However, I could tell you how it pretty much panned out, without even turning to my crystal ball…

Leo, the music geek he is, was completely in awe of the new studio, in all its large-console-mixing glory. They most-likely needed 3 or 4 armed guards watching him, making sure he didn’t start touching all of the equipment, basically making every attempt to produce the show himself. (He’d move into a music studio if someone would let him.)

Anthony is the king of taking advantage of a social/networking scene. I have no doubt that the Preston & Steve party was any different. Before you’ve had time to check your coat, he has already met 7 people and learned their life stories, knows which food trays to send you to first, and has taken the liberty to get both you and himself something from the mini-bar.

Steve, probably the biggest fan of the show out of my 3 bosses, has been to their old studio a couple of times to discuss the new web site. Always up for a decent party and meeting new people, he, no doubt, still had work in the back of his mind. (Steve is one of those anomalies that can teach himself the latest computer program overnight, while downing a few Guinness’s, and still manage to hold a hilarious (yet pointless) conversation about the latest gem of a YouTube video released on the web.)

From what I hear, a great time had by all. Thanks to Preston and Steve, and their whole crew for having us. Next time, I’m sneaking in through the back door- screw the guards…

Perhaps Philadelphia’s most illustrious on-air personalities, WMMR’s Preston and Steve, and the rest of their incomparable morning show, have an extremely content-heavy website. Listeners go to the site to do everything from download podcasts of the show, to watch live video streams right from the studio. We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to create a kick-ass site and at the same time give the show another outlet to demonstrate their awesomeness. Gadzooks!

In light of their ongoing success, they’ve asked us to go a step further, and give their site a refreshed look that will mirror that progress. The new site has plans for a large back-end and database infrastructure, allowing candidate submissions of resumes and job applications, significantly improving how an already thriving business will operate.

The site will be an online community where those with illnesses can collaborate with world-renowned integrative doctors who are experts in their user’s particular ailment. Through interactive dialogue, coaching, feedback and encouragement, the user is supported at every level. We have recently begun work on this extensive site and a launch is scheduled for mid-summer.
