In an ongoing collaboration with Levi’s, Opening Ceremony continues the corduroy treatment with these desert boots. The boots come in three understated colorways that would be good for everyday wear. These are by far my favorite items from the capsule collection. These will be sold exclusively at Levi’s San Francisco and Opening Ceremony stores.

Los Angeles artist with French blood, Mr. Brainwash, debuted his massive, self produced ‘Icons’ exhibition in New York back in February earlier this year in a two leveled, 15,000 square foot space in the Meatpacking district. Much hype surrounded the show from the recent Banksy documentary ‘Exit Through The Gift Shop’ in which Mr.Brainwash played a significant role in. We payed the space a visit yesterday and found some huge replicas of tabasco sauces, spray cans adorned in Louis Vuitton and Starbucks logos, profiles of global icons from the past 50 years a real life sized rubber-tyre horse (carrying a huge transportation pun) and profiles of musical gods made out of their own records.

The over all theme was a play against politics and popular cultures and the way people are carried as celebrities and icons in our generation today.

Whats something people might not know about you? As a youngster ( roughly age 5 to 13) I lived in the Allegheny mountains and we had horses- My brothers and I had to break (halter) all the colts in the morning before going to school.

This season sees some very promising garments such as the striped parka, with no doubt, we are rating this as a flawless summer jacket, it ticks all the boxes for us and it has a removable hood that reveals a very neat shawl collar. Reversble double layered shirt – check on one side, neon flecked chambrey on the other! pocket tees with leopard print details and faded red jeans. Standing out as a  bright and quirky collection with some staple pieces for summer weather (that we all know everybody cant wait for!).

Japanese Sneaker Magazine, Shoes Master, are about to release their second book, Sneaker Tokyo 2. The title focusses on the impact Hiroshi Fujiwara has had on sneaker culture over the past 20 or more years, and his own passion for shoes. You’ll see an interview alongside imagery of his own shoes and all the projects the icon has worked on over the years.

Niels Meulman is an internationally known artist, graphic designer and art director from Amsterdam. Meulman began tagging “Shoe” in 1979 and became a graffiti legend by the time he was 18. In the 80’s Shoe formed the United Street Artists alongside Delta, Joker, Jezis and Jaz, as well as the Crime Time Kings with Bando from Paris and Mode2 from London. Together they gave graffiti in Europe its own distinctive style. In the 90’s he furthered his technique by apprenticing under the Dutch graphic design master Anthon Beeke.

After that, Shoe ran his own design company, Caulfield & Tensing and was partner in ad agency Unruly, which he later turned into a brand for silk scarves. Shoe revolutionized the art of writing with Calligraffiti, an art form that fuses calligraphy and graffiti. He launched this movement in 2007 with a successful solo exhibition in Amsterdam. Since then, his Calligraffiti pieces (signed NSM) can be seen in various international exhibitions.

Shoe’s design, typography and Calligraffiti works throughout the years have now been neatly documented in the form of a great book: “Calligraffiti: The graphic art of Niels Shoe Meulman” (From Here To Fame Publishing), with a written preface by John Langdon and introduction by Adam Eeuwens. The book will be presented alongside an
extensive exhibition/lecture tour across the globe, hitting up the USA, South America, China and various European cities.

Fuct SSDD has yet to disappoint us only continue to impress with their Spring/Summer 2010 shorts. Not long ago we gave you a look at the Spring/Summer collection entitled “Erebus,” and the releases continue for this season with these 2 pairs of shorts. The first pair utilizes the same pattern that is used on the “Geronimo” buttondown and also boasts leather zipper pocket pulls. While, the second pair are broken tiger camo BDU shorts. In my opinion the broken tiger camo is the perfect alternative to wanting to wear camo shorts but not wanting to be overkill. If you’re not in Japan you can pick these up at UNION LA
