Simply put, he is considered by many to be the finest electric bass player in the world. Surprisingly, he is a pioneer of slap bass when he brought this new percussive-style bass playing in 1979 to the second Bill Bruford album, “One of a Kind”, on the tune called 5G. Jeff also pioneered two handed tapping when he performed this style on Motherlode from his 1985 release of his first solo album called “Champion”. When these styles began to catch on with other bass players, Jeff stopped playing these styles.

SLAP BASS SOLOS NO.21 Mark Adams

couldn't find a solo clip but had to mention Mark Adams of the funk outfit, Slave. I talk through my bass and step forward like a lead singer riffing; I'm constantly in freestyle mode. Steve calls it "annointing bass." I also look at my bass like a drum kit, using my thumb for the kick and my pops for the snare-like Larry Graham does. That's what I did on "Just a Touch of Love" [from Just a Touch of Love, Cotillion]. I don't know how Slave grooves like it does. It's hard to put into words, but it will always be in us."

SLAP BASS SOLOS NO.20 Louis Johnson

Very rare bass solo recording of Louis Johnson slappin da' ting!

SLAP BASS SOLOS no.19 Doug Wimbush

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWBpVFeLysCuE7A23s2pf8Yw6eepAuwgm08h5Lurvh7QlWLrrvL2rbEIqT1v3Hv1lTfyYr8u1WIRhQ7842uHgNY-K-wacsSkFlmfrfXBYkUFSd6ESrI6U8XFDK74LFr9_UNada4yFCmPs/s320/doug+wimbush.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5277475733952292114" />

Doug Wimbish (born September 22, 1956) is a bass player, primarily known for his studio work for the rap/hip hop label Sugarhill Records and his membership of the funk metal band Living Colour. target="_top">Jim Lee!

"Most bass instruction is theory oriented and boring... I wanted FUNKYCHOPS to be easy & fun. FUNKY CHOPS! is a play-by-ear method that requires no note reading or prior slap bass knowledge. Each riff features audio & video played at 3 speeds. I play a riff and you say “cool, can you play that slower?” ... no problem, you hear it played slower and then you imitate. This is how I learned, except you'll be learning much faster than I ever did. I'm showing you, slowly, the tricks to play riffs that blaze. Plus, you'll improve your ear-playing skills which will make you a better bassist."
Click Here!

Funky Chops Slap Bass Guitar

Play 101 Funky Slap Bass Riffs with Jim Lee's Easy Video slap bass Guitar Lessons.
