Milan in Cat Fancy 2013

Hello friends! Today my husband and I were surprised with the news that Milan will be featured in Cat Fancy's 2013 daily calendar!

Sorry for the poor quality photo! I didn't want to risk breaking it when scanning since I want to keep it intact!

Before you ask, I DID send them photos of her asleep (its what she does best) however, they chose this one, which is quite adorable if you ask me.

The calendar should be available in stores in September and looks like it is already for sale on Amazon.

If Milan had thumbs, i'm sure she'd autograph it for you.

Also, remember to Submit photos of your sleeping kitties to be featured on the blog!

Milan The Dancing Cat

2012-06-09T18:57:00.000-07:00

Hello Friends!

It has been awhile and though I have no new sleeping cat photos to post for you (sad), we do have a new Milan video!

Milan is awake in this one. and showing off her latest skill, Dancing!

Milan, as you have heard is a very good natured and easy going cat. Do not fear! This does not upset her or distress her in away way. Afterwards she continues to purr and meow at our feet and nuzzle and headbutt our faces.

We first started making Milan dance as a joke but noticed her fancy foot work.

Hope You Enjoy and as always, we welcome your photos of your own sleeping cats and kittens!

Special Thank you to Milan for putting up with our crazyness!

Milan the Lion

2012-05-19T16:06:00.000-07:00

So it has been a while since my last post. Still waiting for submissions! In the meantime we have been training Milan to walk on a leash. She already has many dog-like qualities such as wagging her tail when she is happy, greeting us at the door when we come home and begging!

This video is Milan's second time outside. The first time we took her to a friends fenced in backyard and this time she is out in the fenced in courtyard at our apartment. At first she is a little apprehensive and wants to hide under bushes but she will start to explore once she is a little more comfortable.

So, she definitely is not sleeping in this blog post however, after a time outside she seems to fall asleep for quite a long time <3

Enjoy!

PS. If you have any questions about how we trained her to do this let me know! Also important to note is that before we take her outside we use Natures Defense flea, tick and mosquito repellant on her. It is organic so we don't have to worry about when she grooms herself with it on and of course keeps her pest free!

In the meantime, I have jumped onto the Pinterest bandwagon where I have pinned all the images from this blog and have started "repining" sleeping cat photos to my "Sleeping Kitties," pinboard.

If you have an Pinterest account, or are interested in getting involved, please follow my sleeping kitties Pinboard here:

Milan and her Cat Mat

2012-02-05T08:05:00.000-08:00

Name: Milan

Hello everyone! It has been a while since my last post. Milan has been sleeping in the same old places in the same old positions so I was waiting for something new. Here is Milan asleep at the foot of our bed on her new Scrappy Kitty Rug! I received the Scrappy Kitty Rug through a swap on swap.com !

I sprinkled some cat nip on it, which unfortunately she doesn't care about! But she does like the rug.

Please remember to submit your photos Here, and if you have a blog or other website/service let me know!

Milan Tries Mr. Chewy

2012-01-21T12:16:00.000-08:00

Through the course of reviewing the many cute sleeping kitties that come across my computer, I came across an appealing website where I can buy bet supplies online. Having an extremely picky kitty (yes that adorable sleeping fur ball is picky!), it is essential that I can find the food that she will eat (which isn't always available at a store). This website is

The website is on par with your major online retailers for navigation. There are multiple category breakdowns (important to know because hairball control is a #1 concern for our household!). All the major brands were there that I could see, as well as ones I've never heard of. I was very impressed with the sheer number of categories that meet most of the various health concerns for dogs and cats. Low glycemic and prescription food options are tough to come by, so to have an online retailer who has a decent selection of these is a plus.

Cart and Checkout were again on par with your major online retailers. Shipping and tracking was a breeze; I was kept constantly updated via e-mail and was able to accurately track my shipment. It came nicely packaged and I couldn't have been happier! Not to mention, free shipping on orders of over $50!

Honestly, I was very happy with the website and will use it for my cat products in the future. It was so good I wish they would expand to small animals because I could use a more expansive online retailer for products for my three rabbits. T

Furthermore, thanks to Mr Chewy, we were able to buy a boat load of canned food and a bag of hairball control cat food that we took on a trip over to the Animal Welfare League of Arlington where my lovely Milan came from! So we thank Mr Chewy for this opportunity to continue to support homeless animals until they all find loving homes.

You can follow them on Facebook

And on Twitter @Mr.Chewy

And of course their website Mr. Chewy

This is Kumar (available at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington) Looks like the kitties there are not of the sleeping variety!!! (He's a cutie anyway)

Dont forget to send in your sleeping kitties picture to be featured on the blog!

Kitty Mine

2011-11-30T17:14:00.001-08:00

Name: Milan

Milan's first road trip went very well! She meowed the entire three and a half hours so it was a good thing that my husband and I love the sound of kitties. She got to meet her kitty aunt (my parents cat Neptune) and quickly enacted a plan to take over the house.

Now that she is back home in her own domain, her latest dose of cuteness comes by doing "Kitty land mines." This is where she drops to the ground outside a doorway or major path of travel in the house as we are walking in order to sabotage us into tripping over her. Here is a picture of her in the act.

Special thank you to my kitty Milan!

After Thanksgiving Nap Time

Name: Milan

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I know we sure did. My hubby and I went to visit my parents house and brought Milan with us. All the new sights and smells were exciting for her to explore and she even met a kitty friend (who she did not get along with!) After all the excitement, when we all sat down to rest ourselves, Milan came to sit with us and fall asleep as well.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! If anyone has any pictures of their kitties sleeping with the family after a thanksgiving meal we would love to share them!

Milan Monday

Apparently Milan decided that we were watching too much TV this weekend. As a result, she attempted to use her furry body to overheat the cable box. Fortunately for her, it failed. Also fortunate is how adorable she looks in the process of sabotage.

Where is BeeBop?

2011-11-04T16:29:00.000-07:00

Name: BeeBop

Putting aside the "sleeping" in Sleeping Kitties tonight to raise awareness of this missing kitty, BeeBop.

"BEEBOP HAS BEEN MISSING OVER 4 MONTHS IN BROOKLYN, NY, USA. Please help us find BeeBop. Missing since June 28, 2011 in Brooklyn Heights, vicinity of Columbia Place/Willow Place/State Street, 2-1/2 yr old skittish neutered half-feral/domesticated male. Black body & legs, white belly, white chin with distinctive marking on right side of face. His 2 front paws are different. He got scared of the movers and jumped out through the screen window. He was found 2 days later on July 1, 2011 in the basement of the Heights Players theater around the corner where he was being held for me but was allegedly let out!!! We believe he is still in the area. NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!! He's very shy, not the type of cat to be walking around sitting on a stoop. He could be hiding under your bed. PLEASE CHECK! I have had him since he was 4 weeks old. PLEASE HELP ME FIND HIM! WILL DO ANYTHING TO HAVE OUR BABY BOY BACK!"
