The Sleepy Eye Bombers received their “Winning Team” Certificates from the Minnesota Sports Federation Wednesday night at the Sleepy Eye Baseball Field.

The Minnesota Sports Federation and Youth 1st in partnership with the Minnesota Twins Community Fund and Play Ball Minnesota are giving special recognition to several “Real Winning Teams” that participated in the 2015 MSF State Tournaments. The teams were selected based on the behavior and attitudes exhibited by players, coaches, parents and fans. MSF is promoting a “Conduct 1st” environment at all tournaments. The goal is to model and encourage best conduct from players, coaches and fans

Champion List

This trail improvement project comes with an estimated price tag of $1,080,000. The city has been awarded grant money for over half of that total – $400,000 in federal funds and $237,000 from MnDOT. The city’s share is estimated to be $443,000.

There will be a 24 foot separation zone from the white line at the side of the road, to the edge of the trail. The trail itself is 10 feet wide and there will be a 14 foot buffer strip. Previously the trail on the paved shoulder abuts the fog line. The lake will lost approximately .9 acres of water space.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Wednesday August 12th to celebrate the project’s initiation.

The Teacher of the Year at Sleepy Eye Public School was announced Monday during the opening day of teacher workshops….and the honor goes to…Mr. Tim Hoffmann – 5^th & 6^th Grade Math Teacher. Tim also is head softball coach.
