Time Magazine Cover Causes Uproar

2012-05-11T03:49:00.002-07:00

The new edition of the time magazine has created a controversy for its provocative cover featuring a pretty blonde letting an apparently four year old boy suck her breast. The Time magazine's breast feeding cover It instantly invited the readers' ire with the feminists registering their protests on internet.

The cover image is related to a an article included in the magazine about L.A mom Jamie Lynne Grumet and her four year old son. In this article Grumet talks about attachment parenting.

Attachment parenting is a term coined by pediatrician William Sears, where moms breast feed their children for a long period and co-sleep with them and use baby slings. This is to ensure that the child forms a strong emotional bond with the mom.

In her Facebook update author-activist Meena Kandasamy said: "TIME magazine's new cover is as worse as putting the genocidal Narendra Modi there. I am a feminist. I am NOT against nudity or breastfeeding. But the male gaze of this issue's cover offends me. It turns me into a voyeur. It turns breast-feeding into a spectacle."

On the other hand the controversy has helped Jamie Lynne Grumet gain instant fame. She says her blog, in which she routinely writes about her parental experiences, has crashed on Thursday due to her unexpected fame.

Grumet expressed her surprise at the sudden fame through her Facebook status update
:"Oh my gosh!" . "Aram and I are on the cover of @timemagazine."

The headlines of prominent newspapers is an indicator to the uproar the news has been making from yesterday: fox news wrote like this:"Time magazine cover -- forget the breast, what about the boy?"

CBS NEWS' website put their headline as :Time magazine cover of breastfeeding mom sparks intense debate on "attachment parenting"

Meanwhile, LA Times wrote: Time magazine breast-feeding cover provokes strong reaction

Apache RTR180 Strong with ABS

2012-05-06T06:15:00.001-07:00

Watching the new TVS Apache RTR 180 on run is like witnessing a lion in action. The roaring king is ferocious but never go out of control if let loose on adverse terrains. Thanks to the Anti-lock breaking system (ABS) TVS developed in collaboration with Continental Corporation. With RTR 180 TVS became the first Indian company to introduce the ABS system in bikes under 200 cc segments.

The ABS system avoids the peril of wheel lock with the help of sensors on the front and rear wheels. These sensors give alert to HECU (Hydraulic Electronic control Unit) the moment they detect a chance for wheel lock. The HECU controls the breaking pressure and keep the Apache rider safe.

The bike boasts s of a wider rear tire, a cool digital speedometer and a naked chain cover. The same LED tail lamp featured in the Apache 160 re appears here, but the repetition will not result in a bigger disappointment.

The ABS equipped RTR 180 looks similar to the non-ABS version but for the orange/ black decals. As of now, the ABS version is available only in white shades.

Call of the Waves: The Laura Dekker Story

2012-01-23T21:53:00.000-08:00

At the age of 16 Laura Dekker‘s achievement is something that only a few could dream of-“conquering the world SINGLE-HANDEDLY.” The Dutch teen sailed around the world alone and broke the world record set by the Australian teenager Jessica Watson. Dekker is the youngest to sail around the world, though the record seems unofficial as of now.

Dekker completed her historic voyage of some 518 days as she sailed into the port on the Caribbean island of St. Maarten on Saturday. According to reports, she traveled 27,000 nautical miles in 38-ft yacht named Guppy.

Days of Struggle

Dekker had to face several legal battles to embark on the dream journey, mainly with the Dutch Government. A Dutch court ordered that Dekker must be put under sate care for two months on the grounds that she was too young to guarantee her safety at sea. Her parents also refused to prevent her from her adventure.

Disappointed by the court’s decision, Dekker fled to St. Maarten in 2010, but the police escorted her back to home. She finally succeeded in winning a 10-month court battle and the rest is history.

“Laura Dekker was Born in a Yacht”

The teenager’s lust for voyage appears to be acquired from her parents. Laura Dekker was born into a sea faring family, in a sailing yacht in New Zealand. She sailed across a local lake at the age of six. And Dekker successfully crossed North Sea on a solo navigation when she was only thirteen.

Cheers to Laura Dekker

The Netherlands government appreciated her unusually strong character, but said they will never regret the decision to block the teenager’s controversial journey which, during that period, divided Netherlands into two.
