It’s not often that a band infiltrates the essence of your being, where you live and breathe their music and their words. The Berlin based IAMX isn’t merely a band, it’s an event – a full-on aural and visual attack which has created a die-hard cult who wait for their every move with bated breath.

After three successful releases and years of touring the world as founding member, writer, producer and singer of the band Sneaker Pimps, Chris began his solo project IAMX. From the start, IAMX celebrated the independent anti-commercial industry approach, releasing uncompromising music, with focus on a strong bond with the fans. A movement whose fan base grows steadily through word-of mouth and online activity.

Founded in 2004, IAMX has released four albums that cross genres from electro to dance to experimental burlesque to stripped-down pulsating ballads without losing its very-human soul. The media has taken notice, calling IAMX’s music "gorgeous… deliriously gloomy… and endearingly vulnerable" (Alternative Press), "hidden treasures for the ear that are so pristine, so lush and so near-perfect, that you want to share it with the world (9 out of 10)" (Blurt! Magazine), and "enthralling, highly theatrical mix of biting Brit Pop and electronica" (NYLON).

IAMX have played extensively to sold out audiences across Europe. The live performances have become a highlight of the project. Dressed to kill, set to a backdrop of self created art visuals, explosive and passionate, the band gives everything on stage and has gained a reputation as an exceptional live act.

IAMX’s fifth album "The Unified Field" was just released in March 2013.

The idea of Slims goes British Revue #3, is to take several bands who perform covers and originals, but also add three songs to their set list from the ’60s British Invasion. The show features young rockers playing the ’60s tunes with a modern feel, and the guys who were there, playing the tunes with authenticity.

Get your groove on for a trip back in time with tonight’s tour guides, The RaveUps, who perform the bluesy, psychedelic music of the Yardbirds, which, in case you never heard them or blew out too many brain cells to remember, featured three of the best rock and roll guitarists of all time, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page, and had a succession of hits in the mid-1960s with songs like For Your Love, Heart Full of Soul, and I’m a Man.

The RaveUps are in it for the fun, but they take the music seriously, striving to re-create the sound and feel of the Yardbirds in detail. The band does a great job of capturing the feel of those free-flowing, high-energy jams. Lead guitarist Chris Solberg has played with Santana, Eddie Money, and Chris Isaak. The band also features Kit Newkirk on bass, Bob Lewis on rhythm guitar, and Dave Seabury on harmonica and vocals. Special guest David Rokeach will be on drums.

The Blondies are five teenagers from Berkeley and Oakland, all under 16, all inspired by the music of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Kinks. With Simon Lunche on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Frank Klopotowski on bass, Zak Meghrouni-Brown on guitar, Jerry Feist on keyboards, and Paul Davis on drums, the band serves up catchy originals and tasty covers of the classics.

San Francisco’s Theresa Sawi is the Girl Named T. She’s only 22, she has a great new album called Wait by the Rabbit Hole, and one of her songs, Raven Fly, was featured on the MTV show Awkward, which led to an interview on All Things Considered. Her songs are truly original gems, and she paints her cover tunes with the same brush!

HAUNTED BY HEROES is an amazingly talented group of youngsters from Pacifica. They’re influenced by diverse sources from The Beatles & Buddy Rich to AC-DC and Led Zeppelin. When they appeared on Americas Got Talent, Dee Snider form Twisted Sister joined them onstage for a rocking good time! These guys rock with a passion only matched by bands four times their age.

The WHitecliff Rangers are a crew of lifelong musicians who share a passion for the music of the ’60s British invasion. With brothers Robb and Bart Scott, Jim Black, and Perry Garfinkle, the band plays early Rolling Stones and other British devotees of the American blues & pop.

Lyrically, Paralytic Stalks contains confessions of an infinitely more personal nature than anything Kevin Barnes has written since 2007′s Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?

Amidst dark ruminations on human existence, revenge, self-hatred, and his relationship with wife Nina, one encounters an emotionally raw Barnes struggling to contain his savage thoughts: "So much violence in my head / How are we still alive?" ("Authentic Pyrrhic Remission").

And though it’s easy to become totally immersed within the captivating power of such revelations song after song, focusing only on the lyrics would prevent you from fully comprehending the true depth of Barnes’ work.

Because in a different, yet equally enthralling manner, Paralytic Stalks’ musical dimension proves itself similarly worthy of preoccupation.

For on a sonic level, the album – recorded at Barnes’ home studio in Athens, GA and mixed at Chase Park Transduction with the assistance of engineer Drew Vandenberg (Deerhunter, Toro y Moi) – is a stimulating array of densely packed ideas presented with stunning agility.

Never before has an of Montreal record moved so fluidly from one song to the next – each track feeding off the last in what seems a singular album-long movement that never allows you to rip your ears away.

As a result, Paralytic Stalks at times resembles modern classical with its intricate compositions, while at others echoes of neo-prog, pseudo-country, and ’60s pop can be heard.

Examples of these new elements abound throughout the record, notably on "Wintered Debts," which witnesses its hushed vocal and acoustic guitar intro giving way to a country shuffle replete with pedal steel guitar, as well as the flute-driven, ELO-inspired single "Dour Percentage."

Conceived on the fringe of a contemporary pop music landscape that seldom encourages listeners to dig beyond the surface level to receive satisfaction, Paralytic Stalks is the rare album with the audacity to DEMAND such a response.

Born Ruffians from Toronto, Canada here. We’re writing to tell you we’ve just finished our third album – Birthmarks. When we wrote our first album, Red, Yellow & Blue, we all lived in a house in downtown Toronto. We jammed in the basement, which meant whenever we had an idea we could work it out right there that moment. Our second album, Say It, was different. We’d moved out of the house to separate apartments and wrote the record in a rehearsal space over a 6 month period.

This time, we had no interest in going back to the rehearsal space. Instead we went back to the roots of our debut and lived together again. The three of us plus Andy, our fourth member now with us to fill out our live show, spent a spring and a fall isolated at a haunted farmhouse in rural Ontario.

Living together and not relying on a shitty rehearsal space was important to us. We wanted to be able to write when the idea was fresh, stop when we got stuck, and pick everything back up whenever we wanted. Being on a farm where we were isolated and could turn up as loud as we could was important.

These songs – Birthmarks – came out of a dusty living room in an old house, in between chopping wood and building bonfires, playing crokinole at the kitchen table, cooking family dinners and shooting beer cans with a bow and arrow. We’d wake up, head downstairs from our rooms, and write.

While some of Birthmarks was born on the farm, many of the songs were conceived long before. Luke would write and demo constantly on his laptop, at home, on tour, in Toronto, Montreal, Midland, Australia, France, Germany, everywhere. Several songs were realized during the recording process in the studio.

After we felt we had a strong group of songs we booked ourselves into Boombox Sound and spent most of 2012 moving in, out and around there with producer Roger Leavens and engineer Marcel Ramagnano tracking some 15 songs and figuring out the sound of the album. Luke had just finished doing an album of his own at Boombox so the environment was warmed up and ready for the band to come in. Luke worked closely with Roger on the production of the record, bringing sounds and parts of demos in from his laptop and dropping them into the studio, often building from there. The sound of the record was largely shaped by freedom of time and the new ability to manipulate a song over the course of several days or weeks until it was ready.

We don’t want to tell you about what we think we sound like. We can tell you that this record will sound different. These songs lived with us, toured with us, got drunk with us and made our ears ring. Now, we get to hit the road and start making your ears ring. It took us almost three years writing all over the world, several months of farm life in the country, and a calendar year at Boombox Sound to finally finish Birthmarks. We think it’s time to show you what Born Ruffians birthed.

They’re called punk and metal, but at their hearts Norwegian berserkers Kvelertak are the living, firebreathing embodiment of rock and roll. Since their formation in 2006, they’ve built a die-hard fan-base hungry for their utterly ferocious live shows that have already burned two flaming tire-tracks across the globe.

"Buzzworthy" doesn’t even begin to describe Kvelertak, and their roll-call of achievements reads like a legend waiting to happen. Their rapturously-received self-titled 2011 debut – produced by none other than Converge’s Kurt Ballou – was termed "the best Norwegian debut of all time" by Norwegian rock authority Asbjorn Slettemark, "Best Debut Album" by Metal Hammer Germany, "Best New Artist" and "Best Rock Album" at the Spellemannprisen (Norway’s Grammy equivalent), and iTunes US’s Metal Breakthrough Artist of The Year in 2011. Along with unanimous praise from Metal Hammer UK, Terrorizer, Rock Hard, and Kerrang! who called them "the most exciting new band on the planet," Kvelertak – or "chokehold" in English – are showing no signs of slowing down.

From storming 2011′s SXSW festival to being personally invited by Mastodon to support them in Bergen, Norway, to Dave Grohl presenting them with their first gold discs at a sold-out Foo Fighter’s show, this Scandinavian sextet have already circled the globe, hitting every fest from the UK to Australia, including a gig in Singapore that finished out on the street, stopping traffic and ending up as a viral hit on YouTube.

At the core of it, though, is the music – a brew of rock, punk and metal so infectious it should carry a warning label. Look out, world, because their second album, "Meir," is on its way.

"It’s like the first one, but way more in every way," says six-stringer Bjarte Lund Rolland. "The big songs are bigger, the harder songs are harder, the poppy songs are poppier, and…"

"This is going to blow your brains out," adds singer Erlend Hjelvik, whose riot-inducing vocals may be in Norwegian, but they speak a language of badass bravado like no other. "The first one was pretty much all party; this time around it’s the hangover where you go round two and start drinking again the day after. You get drunk real quick and you’re generally in a weird f*ck-you-all-mood. It’s known as the shampoo-effect."

Call it the shampoo-effect, or one of the most uproarious displays of recorded lunacy of the 21st century, but these Stavanger natives are set to take on the world. Think stunning guitar-leads that recall the heady days of Guns N’ Roses tempered with the down-stroked muscularity of Metallica, with the party-vibes of a rockabilly hoedown, Kvelertak are nothing short of a fjord fiesta.

"The most important thing is that it’s just as f*cking shameless as the first one," says Bjarte. If not more. "I’m really excited about it."

We are too, Bjarte. We are, too.

Scissors For Lefty is a San Francisco Band with a sophisticated pop style combining elements of Indie, Yesteryear, & Dirty Glam. They are about as playful as an arty pop band can get: melodies in between melodies, jangly guitar, glittery keyboard, of Montreal-esque bass, galloping propulsion from a 6 foot 10 drummer, all fronted by heavy-breathing tales of romance and counter-culture glow. The group clearly sounds like they are enjoying themselves. Cute, sexy, and a little terrifying.

Scissors For Lefty has played all over the United States and the United Kingdom, including tours with the following bands: Arctic Monkeys, Dirty Pretty Things, Erasure, Smashing Pumpkins, Metric, Panic at The Disco, Blonde Redhead, The French Kicks, Locksley, The Matches, The Fiery Furnaces, Semi Precious Weapons, Kaiser Chiefs, Rykarda Parasol, Elephone, Black Heart Procession, Suffrajette, The Pigeon Detectives, Paolo Nutini, Ben Kweller, Juliette & The Licks, Grandaddy, The Bravery, The Bloody Heads, White Lies, Mr. Loveless, and more…

Their anticipated 3rd album "Bangs & Lashes" has just been completed and is being shopped for an early 2013 release. Look for the album’s first video in May 2013.
