Star Slinger is an Electronic project created by Nottinghamshire born Darren Williams. It all started in April 2010 when he re-ignited his love for record-shopping in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. The name Star Slinger was born when Darren sampled BT Express’ instrumental B Side "Cowboy Dancer." He often names his creations with word association towards the sample he uses.

By June 2010 Darren had pieced together his first LP "Volume 1." Some tracks were reportedly made in the comfort of his own bed in the early hours. Others made not long after waking. Darren believes that routine and weekend culture aren’t his forte, and creating music at any given moment is how he approaches this project.

Meanwhile that summer, Darren began collaborating with ambient producer Teams (Knoxville, TN). Together they worked on an EP, sending stems via soundcloud and were approached shortly after by the popular Brooklyn-based label Mexican Summer to release a 12" as Teams vs. Star Slinger. The self-titled EP was released early 2011 to much acclaim and kick-started the long queue of artists looking to make use of his remixing and production talents.

Before that, Small Black had championed his remix of their song "Photojournalist," while the blogosphere championed his unofficial remix of Deerhunter’s "Helicopter" and has since been approached for official remix work from some of his longtime favourite bands, including Air France, Toro Y Moi, Gold Panda, Broken Social Scene, The Morning Benders, The Go! Team, Ed Sheeran, Rizzle Kicks, Foster The People, Alex Winston and Childish Gambino.

These remixes and other production work has kept him busy in the studio through 2011. Outside of it, he has been playing out his huge hip hop and dance orientated sets to festivals across Europe this summer at the likes of The Big Chill, Benicassim and Glastonbury. Alongside that, there has been touring and shows with Washed Out, Memory Tapes and the Go! Team, plus shows with Caribou and Battles amongst many others.

The Real McKenzies are not just a band. They are an unstoppable touring machine. A road-hardened crew of traveling minstrels, entertainers and vagabonds on a never-ending quest for good times.

For the past 20 years, this ferocious gang of miscreants has been captivating audiences around the globe with their addictive, uncompromising and undeniably heartfelt music. Featuring a diverse and insanely talented roster of musicians, The Real McKenzies draw on both acoustic and electric instruments to blend a potent concoction of classic punk, rock n’ roll, hard folk and traditional Celtic influence. Anthemic guitars and soaring bagpipes play off each other as Paul McKenzie spins yarns of times long past and regales with tales of endless drunken revelries. Blistering punk rock boot stompers stand alongside passionate singalong ballads while good times and joyous camaraderie are all the order of the day.

Fueled by an insatiable need to share the McKenzies’ gospel with the world, the boys are equally at home playing to 20,000 screaming football fans in the heart of Germany as they are to a few hundred punks in the dirtiest, darkest, most disreputable clubs of the Canadian wilderness. After more than two decades, 8 full-length albums, countless compilation appearances and singles, The Real McKenzies have earned a reputation that is second to none. They’ve shared the stage with Rancid, NOFX, Flogging Molly, The Misfits, Pennywise, Shane McGowan and Metallica just to name a few, all the while garnering new friends and fans along the way.

And now they’re back with their first studio album in 4 years. "Westwinds" is packed to the brim with roaring, rollicking and epic tales that shanghai the listener on a thirteen song, sea-tossed journey through the wild and wonderful world of The Real McKenzies. Recorded over several months at Crabapple Downs by the phenomenal Steve Loree, "Westwinds" is a sonic shot across the bow, a record that demands your attention. From the unapologetic raised middle figure salute of ‘Fool’s Road’ to the hook-laden tongue-in-cheek ‘My Luck Is So Bad’ to one of the most poignant and blood-pumping renditions of Stan Rogers’ ‘Barrett’s Privateers’ that you’ll ever hear, this killer album is set to become an instant classic in the collections of both new and diehard fans alike. Much like a fine single malt scotch, The Real McKenzies only get better with age.

"Only in Dreams" retains Dum Dum Girls’ signature blend of the girl-gang eyeliner punk of the Shangri-Las, the trashy propulsion of the Cramps, and the moody atmospherics of Mazzy Star, but for the first time, all four Dum Dum Girls play and sing on the album. Now the harmonies have more depth, Jules plays her own distinctive guitar leads, and the Bambi (bass)/Sandy (drums) rhythm section powers the music like a vintage V-8 engine. Best of all, tons of time on the road – including two massively successful headlining tours – have molded Dum Dum Girls into a very formidable rock & roll band, giving the music an undeniable force.

As Eric Hutchinson journeyed toward the making of "Moving Up Living Down," the delightfully witty and supremely wise follow-up to his hit debut Sounds Like This, he developed a very simple rule regarding new songs.

"I traveled so long and got to see so many people and places," he says. "And sharing music with the fans every night got me thinking: The best concerts are when people sing along with me. So for the next one, what kind of songs do I want people singing with me? What kind of songs do I want people dancing to?"

Get ready to sing and dance.

Road-tested in every setting from a converted garage in Salt Lake City to the 30,000-seat Calgary Saddledome, from San Diego to Dubai, the artist and songs alike bear a playful confidence that was boosted along the way. As the Washington, DC-raised singer, pianist and guitarist traveled the world over the course of several years, word of mouth about his irresistible songs and engaging presence brought out consistently growing concert crowds. That helped turn the song "Rock & Roll" into an international hit (certified Gold in the U.S., Platinum in New Zealand, Norway and Australia) and the album hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart, ultimately selling more than 250,000 copies. The songs "OK, It’s Alright With Me" (top 5 on AAA radio) and “Oh!” also caught fire, helping push total single sales past the million mark.

After a brief respite to nail down the writing at home in New York, he took to the road again to make this album in Los Angeles with producer Mike Elizondo (Eminem, Regina Spektor) and London with Martin Terefe (Jason Mraz, James Morrison).

On "Moving Up Living Down," all of Eric’s ever-widening musical embraces are brought into play, from the exuberant folk-pop bounce of "Watching You Watch Him" (the first single, which debuted on the season premiere of ABC-TV’s "Grey’s Anatomy") through the reggae lilt of opener "Talk is Cheap" through the soul grounding of "The Basement." The music is tuneful and rhythmic. The lyrics are engaging and reflective. Comparisons, as always, are tough, but you wouldn’t go wrong thinking of a spectrum that includes Paul Simon, the Beatles and Stevie Wonder, all integrated into a truly Hutchinsonian whole.

R5 is the fastest-rising young band on the pop-rock scene with over 4 million You Tube views and 150,000+ Twitter followers. Just don’t confuse them with other emerging young pop-rock bands in the teen space, as this acclaimed group has a fresh, unique sound that comes from years of writing and performing together as a unit. They aren’t just a close-knit band, they are family. Literally. R5 consists of the Lynch family siblings, Ross Lynch (16), star of Disney Channel’s #1 series, Austin & Ally, Riker Lynch (20), a featured "Warbler" in Fox’s smash TV series, Glee, Rocky Lynch (17), sister, Rydel Lynch (18), and family friend, Ellington Ratliff (18). Together they make up one of today’s most exciting young bands featuring catchy rock-inspired songs, a fashionable look, and an energetic performance style. Signed to Hollywood Records, they are working with the top songwriters and producers, which will ensure they are just at the beginning of a successful and long-term music career.

Beach Fossils is a Brooklyn-based group, formed in early 2009 by Dustin Payseur. After signing to Captured Tracks and quickly pulling together a live band, they took off playing countless shows across the U.S. gathering a slew of devoted fans in their wake. In May of the same year, their debut LP Beach Fossils met with favorable reviews and became known for its jangly, single note guitar style, dusted with summer-fueled romance.

As the heavy touring schedule progressed, the band became scattered with many line-up changes, including twelve different drummers and three guitarists. In between tours, Payseur decided to expand beyond solo recordings and collaborate with bassist John Peña (and label-mate Jack Tatum of Wild Nothing on the song ‘Out in the Way’) for the EP, "What a Pleasure," which was released in March of 2011.

Payseur takes influence from music, poetry, art and philosophers (Don Cherry, Ravi Shankar, Rumi, Lao-Tzu and Jean Cocteau), having an equal and crucial impact on his work. Beach Fossils is busy recording their sophomore LP, which is due for release in 2012. Steady members of the band have actively formed their own groups, guitarist Cole Smith with DIVE and John Pena with Heavenly Beat.

For the past 8 years, from our beginnings as an acoustic duo playing for a few friends in the hills behind the Cal Poly dorms to sharing the stage with many of our favorite musicians and playing to sold out crowds singing every word, we’ve been blessed to have been able to share our music with so many of you. The experience that we’ve had playing music together, traveling the country, and meeting so many incredible people along the way is something that will always be a huge part of us. Unfortunately, we will be playing our final shows together due to a mutual feeling that it’s time to move on and preserve what is unique and beautiful about the band and this awesome thing we’ve created with you. Thank you for sharing this experience with us – all that you have given us through your love and support of Still Time will never be forgotten and we will always have a huge place in our hearts for you – we love ya!
