Few days after the government acceded to Taliban demands to enforce Sharia law in the area, Pakistani reporter Musa Khan Khel has been shot dead in Swat Valley . Reporters Without Borders also reveal that his body was beheaded.  He was abducted by unknown assailants while covering a “peace” rally by Taliban supporters. Reporters Without Borders expressed outrage at the murder today

On the same day a score of armed and masked men blew up the press club in Wana, capital of the South Waziristan tribal area, completely destroying the building. In two other recent incidents, a journalist received death threats and a television reporter was briefly abducted after interviewing a Taliban spokesman.

The body of Musa Khankhel, aged 28, a reporter in the Swat valley for Geo News and the newspaper The News was found beheaded a few hours after he was snatched during a “peace march” near Matta by supporters of the pro-Taliban cleric, Maulan Sufi Muhammad, one of his colleagues confirmed to Reporters Without Borders. There was no claim of responsibility. Several other reporters and journalists have been kidnapped and news reveal more than many murders in recent times.

Microsoft declared to slash up 5000 jobs and stop offering profit forecasts. The shares of this world’s top software maker fell 8 percent in early trading. Microsoft posted a profit of $4.17 billion, or 47 cents per share, in its fiscal second quarter ended December 31, versus a profit of $4.71 billion, or 50 cents, a year earlier.  Revenue rose 2 per cent to $16.63 billion, missing the average analyst forecast of $17.1 billion.

It is clear that business conditions are worse than people were expecting. Substantial amounts of job cuts are prevalent and it clearly depicts that the times are changing. Microsoft also revealed that it will eliminate up to 5,000 jobs in research and development, marketing, sales, finance, legal, human resources and information technology over the next 18 months.

The company will also cut travel spending by 20 per cent, eliminate merit salary increases in September, and significantly reduce spending on vendors and contingent staff.  Chief Financial Officer Chris Liddell said in a statement that the economic activities and IT expenditures has slowed beyond their expected measures. The shares of Microsoft fell to $17.84 in early trading on the Nasdaq, from their previous close of $19.38.

For the past three years India has been serving as the dumping ground of thousand tones of America’s waste. 890 tonnes of harmful waste has been brought all the way from New Jersey to Tamil Nadu’s  Tuticorin Port. It is a classic case of the way west has treated India as their dumping ground.

The plane departed from the LaGuardia Airport and soon damaged both of its engines after colliding with a flock of birds around 3:30 in the afternoon.  As soon as the captain announced the emergency situation, everybody inside the plane panicked. They hid their heads behind their laps and started to pray. The captain had an option to emergency land at the nearby airport at Teterboro but ultimately he did not. He headed towards the Hudson River and finally the plane hit the water with a bang. An eyewitness said that everybody felt like going through a minor motor accident. Sparky was reddish brown with white color and had floppy ears and was liked by many residents. He reacted efficiently to the commands and even wagged his tail. Though the experts were expecting this disease to hit hard on the soil of India, it never happened till the last week. The High Security Animal Disease Laboratory of Bhopal has altered the State Governments and asked them to take appropriate measures.

Out of the dozen samples that were tested, the laboratory found the presence of the deadly virus in 8 of them. Blood samples were obtain from the dead birds and tested at the laboratory. During the last fortnight more than 50,000 chickens have died due to this disease.

The core group of the Bhopal laboratory has examined the samples and has anticipated the presence of the deadly disease. Some samples of the bird flu were also received from Bangkok. The experts tried to compare the local samples with the samples of Bangkok. At the end of the comparison, the experts confirmed
about the bird flu.
