After 7 years, over 2000 posts and over 1.6 million visitors, Small for Big is taking a break. It gives me butterflies in my stomach to even think about posting this. But it’s time to regroup, to find some space in my life, and to figure what’s next. I want to thank all of the amazing people I’ve met through this humble little blog, and thank you, my beautiful readers for your clicks and love and shares and support. I’ve had a blast, and getting to make a living doing something I’ve loved so much for seven years has been amazing.

Now it’s time to take some time to percolate on what’s next. I have so many ideas! I may very well be back here with the news, and a new look. Or I may take a different direction entirely. Or, I may find some as yet unknown combination of those paths. But I’m looking forward to the excitement of figuring it out.

This week flew by! It’s the first couple of days of March, and I’m already sitting here planning our summer. No, not big vacations that require airlines and reservations, that might make sense to me. No, I’m just trying to plan out a couple of summer camps for Birdie – things fill up fast here in the Twin Cities. But I still find it so bizarre that I have to figure out her summer vacation before ours! The only plus side? Dreaming about hot summer days.

The week was uneventful, except for the unseasonably warm weather, but let’s not go there! I’m prepping for the Oscars this weekend. No, I will not be having a themed party with snacks and drinks and party games, but I should really clean the bathroom before a couple old friends come over to watch all the coverage with me. Thank god they don’t expect me to go all Martha for the day! Some say the Oscars is a woman’s version of the Super Bowl, and although I bristle at the gender divide, I definitely like the Oscars better than the Super Bowl! How about you?

Coloring books have been getting all the press lately, and they are beautiful, but do you remember loving stickers as much as I used to when we were kids?

Check out this amazing series of sticker books from Workman Publishing: Paint by Stickers. There are 8 books: some are more complicated and others are geared towards younger kids. Each and every one looks a little bit addictive. I love the idea of giving the Paint by Sticker Masterpieces to Birdie, because at 8 years old she’d love the challenge, and we’d get to talk about famous works of art at the same time.

But even if we chose the Paint by Sticker Animals, she’d have a blast. In the meantime, I’m bookmarking the Paint by Number Music Icons for future gift-giving to some grown ups I know! Which book would you get first?
